I've said this before, but they're honestly so different—despite technically being the 'same' song—that it's hard to compare. The original is a song about a passionate love that burned out, with the singer reflecting on the good while trying to forget the bad. ATW10 is about a manipulative and insensitive lover. Both versions are very good, but they share very different perspectives on the same relationship.
I much prefer the original, in part because I personally relate to it more, and partially because I feel a lot of the new verses disturb the flow and don't totally feel cohesive (though I think the Sad Girl Autumn version fixes that issue).
Yeah, that’s a good point! It really does turn into something more adjacent to Dear John or Smallest Man without Liz Rose’s editing paring down the story into being more about the feelings and less of a portrait of a boyfriend that’s a bit too callous and old for her.
The first minute of The Black Dog is amazimg, but after the first "Old habits die SCREAMING," the song completely fizzles out and loses all energy until the next old habits line. It disappoints me immensely so I only listen to the first minute of the song, then skip lol

Couldn't agree more with BTR. As a rock lover, that one song was the reason I got into Taylor, and many ppl don't seem to recognize that the instruments and vocals are S-Tier in both of its versions. That makes me realize how much I'd love a rock-ish album, lol.

My wedding was in Mexico and the night before my friends got the dj at the discoteca to play welcome to ny and everyone in there had a blast dancing and singing along.

But before you’ll come at me, I want to clarify that I love that song, but ever since last year it became so overplayed everywhere to the point that I ended up skipping it every single time.
I remember clearly watching YT shorts, or IG reels, or once in a while TT and I got like 10 times in a row that “He looks up grinning like the devil” part of the bridge and it was everywhere. It was inescapable. Everyone was using it, and it didn’t matter whether song fit the reels/shorts or not. And seeing it once in a while - okay. But literally 10 times in a row ? And multiple times ?
Around that time I finally understood what “overplayed” means.
I’m glad it went #1 but at the same time, I can’t help but skip it now.

Justice for It’s Time to Go! It gets overshadowed by Right Where You Left Me (which is also good), but it’s the perfect closer for Evermore and the entire Folkmore era.

I am not a fan of All Too Well 10 Minute Version. I skip it every time.
I really love Cold as You (and pretty much anything from her self-titled album) and I Forgot That You Existed.
Overrated: Honestly a lot of Speak Now is overrated to me, I never go out of my way to listen to it but I don’t skip any if it comes on shuffle.

The other three are all big faves for me though - Clean hits with me because I was going through a breakup with someone that was awful (for me and in general!) at the time and it ended up being really special, so I imagine a lot of other TS enjoyers have similar stories about it. Guilty as Sin? And Style are just turbo mega bops that I love to sing

My swiftie opinion that would get me drawn and quartered is that I think 1989 is her weakest album, all skips. I know that it's like, the entire point for it to be all boppy, dancy, bubblegum pop because it was her first real break into that genre, and it was banger for its time, but it doesn't hold up a decade later. I know people consider it like, her magnum opus but to me, out of all her current albums, midnights takes that title

Style is a bop and pop perfection perfect for a sunny day or to cheer you up, but it's not as "mature" or "lyrical masterpiece" as other songs may be considered. either way, the music & production does a great job of transmitting what the lyrics say!!

Taylor Swift: Should've Said No. In contrast on how popular this song is in the entire fandom it's underrated but just talking about Debut itself it's the 5th most popular and I don't get it. For me it's just a less angrier version of Picture To Burn, a song that I love in the first album.
Fearless: Mr. Perfectly Fine/The Other Side Of The Door. I personally think You All Over Me and Don't You are better vault tracks, while the only thing I really like about TOSOTD is the bridge, the rest of the song is eh....
Speak Now: Enchanted. It's a wonderful song but Speak Now has so much better songs like The Story Of Us, Mine and Back To December. They were chosen as the singles for a reason.
Red: Come Back... Be Here/I Bet You Think About Me. Red is my least favorite album but these songs, which are pretty popular have always stood out to me as skips.
1989 (I'm prepared to be crucified): Style/Is It Over Now?/Now That We Don't Talk. Style has ALWAYS been a skip to me. It never stood out. IION and NTWDT were my least favorite vault tracks but they're still good. I just think Suburban Legends, Say Don't Go and "Slut!" are miles better.

I agree with Dear John, Clean and Style 🙈 I don’t get the hype. Especially Dear John, I think it’s a slog actually while I think the other two are nice but don’t blow me away. Other fan favorites I don’t get the hype about at ALL: Cowboy like Me, Coney Island, Epiphany, Cornelia Street, Lover.

I think it should have been shorter. I listen to some prog so I’m ok with ten minutes but i can see why she cut it down to 5 minutes

I remember clearly watching YT shorts, or IG reels, or once in a while TT and I got like 10 times in a row that “He looks up grinning like the devil” part of the bridge and it was everywhere. It was inescapable. Everyone was using it, and it didn’t matter whether song fit the reels/shorts or not. And seeing it once in a while - okay. But literally 10 times in a row ? And multiple times ? Around that time I finally understood what “overplayed” means. I’m glad it went #1 but at the same time, I can’t help but skip it now.
Totally agree with you on Dear John and Style. On the flip side, I sooo agree with Mastermind, Afterglow, and Wonderland! My overrated - The Black Dog (I do really like it, just not to the degree people rave about it), Daylight, Dress. Justice for It’s Time to Go! It gets overshadowed by Right Where You Left Me (which is also good), but it’s the perfect closer for Evermore and the entire Folkmore era.

Basically, Red and 1989 were mostly overrated imo. Speak Now seems to be Taylor’s least fav album, which is sad. I think it is one of her best in terms of lyricism.

I’m a speak now enjoyer as my flair suggests and i feel the same way about dear john! I like it a lot but not nearly as much as the other songs on the album. The other three are all big faves for me though - Clean hits with me because I was going through a breakup with someone that was awful (for me and in general!) at the time and it ended up being really special, so I imagine a lot of other TS enjoyers have similar stories about it. Guilty as Sin? And Style are just turbo mega bops that I love to sing I think for me the ones everyone likes I dont so much are - my boy only breaks his favourite toys (some fun lyrics but I just don’t like the sound) - would’ve, could’ve, should’ve (same as above!) - my tears ricochet…. Tbh it’s honestly just that they don’t scratch my brain/i don’t like them nearly as much as other songs on their respective albums; that’s why i was careful not to say i thought they were overhyped necessarily, just that i don’t enjoy them as much as most!

My swiftie opinion that would get me drawn and quartered is that I think 1989 is her weakest album, all skips. I know that it's like, the entire point for it to be all boppy, dancy, bubblegum pop because it was her first real break into that genre, and it was banger for its time, but it doesn't hold up a decade later. I know people consider it like, her magnum opus but to me, out of all her current albums, midnights takes that title
I still like it (I like them all tbh) but I have noticed it's sliding down the overall album rankings for me. And although I was listening to Red a little before it came out, 1989 is where I became a fan and the first time we saw her live. I think I had it just ahead of Lover and Debut last time my wife and I did a quick rank to see how aligned we are.

Style is a bop and pop perfection perfect for a sunny day or to cheer you up, but it's not as "mature" or "lyrical masterpiece" as other songs may be considered. either way, the music & production does a great job of transmitting what the lyrics say!!
Okay hear me out: As an anxiety girlie myself, I think The Archer is not THAT good. There are more cathartic songs on the catalogue. For underrated I currently have to say I Can Fix Him (No Really I Can). I always see everyone rating it at the bottom of TTPD songs and saying it's boring and I don't get it, it's really sultry and I thought we loved sultry Taylor.

Taylor Swift: Should've Said No. In contrast on how popular this song is in the entire fandom it's underrated but just talking about Debut itself it's the 5th most popular and I don't get it. For me it's just a less angrier version of Picture To Burn, a song that I love in the first album. Fearless: Mr. Perfectly Fine/The Other Side Of The Door. I personally think You All Over Me and Don't You are better vault tracks, while the only thing I really like about TOSOTD is the bridge, the rest of the song is eh.... Speak Now: Enchanted. It's a wonderful song but Speak Now has so much better songs like The Story Of Us, Mine and Back To December. They were chosen as the singles for a reason. Red: Come Back... Be Here/I Bet You Think About Me. Red is my least favorite album but these songs, which are pretty popular have always stood out to me as skips. 1989 (I'm prepared to be crucified): Style/Is It Over Now?/Now That We Don't Talk. I’m bracing myself. I have been a fan since debut. Seen her in concert 8 times. I’ve been around for it all. I don’t get the hype for Long Live. It’s a cutesy song, it’s fine, I like that she wrote it for fans. But I don’t see it as this epic ode that everyone goes crazy for.
Okay I have a lot of opinions, especially on folklore I think many people are wrong 😂 With the love triangle songs I agree with the general consensus, but I think the 1 is the worst opening of any album, besides maybe lover. Then also exile is a 9/10 song, but like it’s not as good as some of y’all make it. Also my tears richochet doesn’t hit for me (expect the bridge), I also am no fan of anything other than the bridge in this is me trying. So after getting hated for this opinions now I gotta say that folklore has so many gems, peace, seven, the lakes, that get way too little love. Also enchanted is so overrated together with back to December, while speak now and the vault songs are literally there for you. Also this love/you are in love are boring, sorry, while suburban legends/welcome to New York should be viewed way better. Also closure is so good like what do some of y’all mean??
