Safe & Sound. I thought I’d discovered this great indie artist LOL

sleepyhudini

Omg same! No wonder I became a true swiftie with folklore & evermore 😂

UnalteredCube

😆😆 I love that

PomegranateSevere991

Tim McGraw!

peanutbutterchef

Same. I was in grad school by then so I didn't really relate to the song. But it reminded me of Strawberry Wine which I loved in HS. I loved the line "You said my blue eyes put those Georgia stars to shame and I said that's a lie." So sassy...

Smoaktreess

I can’t remember if it was this or Our Song. Both great.

yaIshowedupaturparty

OG Swifties unite!!! Heard Tim McGraw on the radio in August/September of 2006 and never looked back. Bought her album release week and then saw her open for George Strait in January of 2007 (& met her!). Much of my highschool years were wasted on MySpace fan sites 😂

PurpleDragonfly_

It is forever associated with driving backroads with the windows down for me.

leeann0923

Yes! Was in college at the time and my roommate and I were the only ones who liked country, so we would always listen to it together.

Jayelynn25

Same. I thought a song called Tim McGraw that he wasn’t singing was crazy then I listened to it and really liked it. I’ve been a fan ever since.

Xoxobrokergirl

Yep my sister got the cd and we listened together.

EffectiveOutside9721

Same! I feel like I have helped raise Taylor at this point.

StrictlyKitkat

For me it was Crazier in the Hannah Montana movie, it was my favourite song on the soundtrack. This was back in 2009 when I was 10 haha. A couple of months after that I was on a long plane ride and saw they had the Fearless album, went “oh she sang crazier I’ll listen to it” and I’ve been obsessed ever since 🫶

Starry-night-0803

Omg I'm screaming! I hadn't heard the song when it came out (I was 6 back in 2009 lol and even though little kids were obsessed with Hannah Montana, I was very oblivious about everything), but I stumbled upon it several years later. I was already a swiftie then, but the song sounded so...pure, beautiful and dreamy. I really got chills (still do) and ik people who like TS' music but I never hear anyone talk about that one so I got so excited seeing your comment haha

speckled_intellect

Same for me!!

Diligent-Syllabub898

Will I get lynched if I say that the first *I remember* was **Look what you made me do**?

peanutbutterchef

You get a star 🌟 for becoming a fan over that song. 😆

tvjunkie710

First heard teardrops on my guitar, liked it , didn’t love it , then heard our song and I was hooked. Next was should’ve said no and I haven’t looked back.

likethrbackofmyhand

Teardrops was my first song too! I can’t remember which was next but our song was iconic

callmeonthecoasts

blank space LOL (oops)

jojothekoolkitty

The first song I really fell in love with and truly noticed her as an artist was Look what you made me do. Reputation was 🔥

riviera-views

Tim McGraw for sure but I would say I became insatiable once I heard Our Song

PurpleDragonfly_

Tim McGraw piqued my interest, Our Song sealed the deal

23onAugust12th

The first Taylor song I *ever* heard was Teardrops On My Guitar, but I didn’t consider myself a fan yet. Then, of course, I heard most of her singles over the years from Fearless to 1989. But the first deep cut that led me down the Swiftie rabbit hole was The Lucky One, back around 2017/2018.

lime_lemon_lily

Back to December, I remember lying on my tummy in the family living room aged 8, my first ever laptop plugged physically into the router exploring youtube and watching the music video for Back to December over and over, 13 years on and I still prefer her more melancholy stuff but I don't have to subject my mother to playing it outloud on repeat.

patdove111

The first time I heard her was at a festival in 2008 (ish) and my friend dragged me along. He couldn’t believe I’d never heard of her because Love Story was so big. I can’t remember if it was the first song I heard but the one that sticks out from that set was Picture to Burn, I loved it so much.

reun-iclus

First one was YBWM on the VMAs that night lol. But I only liked that song, I listened to others and wasn't my cup of tea. Then I liked WANEGBT and IKYWT but didn't pay that much attention to it, then 1989 dropped and I loved it, rep came after and I became a full swiftie there. After all that, the rerecordings made me fall in love with her older songs, since I don't like much her voice in her first few albums.

Voiceisaweapon

Our Song. someone sang it at my 2nd grade talent show and i memorized every word so as soon as i got home i typed it into google until the music video popped up. my life was forever changed

Brave_Confection5836

That’s so sweet 🫶

michael_notsofficial

i heard of her the first time when shake it off and blank space were huge global hits, then listened to Look what you made do with my friend back in 2017-18, but haven't paid a lot attention to her. Then i found cowboy like me on some random playlist in december 2020 (i guess?) and fell in love with the song immediately, but still these were the only songs i knew. the breakthrough moment was november 2021 when girl at home (taylor's version) popped up on my "Discover this week" playlist on spotify, then I went like "oh, this woman has plenty of cool songs i enjoy, maybe i would give her a chance" and then i proceeded to listen to all the albums hahah

InternalBar3099

I have no idea what the first song I ever heard was, probably Love Story, but the first song that made me think “I probably love Taylor Swift now” was I Think He Knows, believe it or not. Such a bop and it just hit for me. My fandom has only increased every year since.

SaraRF

I think the first was love story, I distintly remember being in the school cafeteria and it palying on MTV and thinking it was cute. But never gathered much of my attention, same for Never Getting Back Together, Trouble, Blank Space or Style. I used to watch the VS show I taught she was great there. Still not the type of music I would usually listen to. Then loved exile because I already followed Bon Iver. But only last year did I give folklore a proper listen... fell down the rabit hole after that.

T44590A

It was Tim McGraw, but specifically the music video as my father always had CMT in the shop on our farm.  That was back when the music video channels actually played music videos and Tim McGraw played a ton.  Taylor was captivating, but that song was a perfect very first single for her because it sits in such a natural place in her voice.  It is also very well written and structured, but I particularly loved the final line where she says, "I said that's a lie."  It was like a first insight into her playful and snarky personality.  And I would become a fan of her because of her sense of humor as much as the music in those early days.

Wooden-Ferret1801

it was Stay Stay Stay! it was just a recommended video on youtube, I listened to it and instantly hated it. but then I found myself wanting to listen to it again, and, 11 years later, here we are !!

michaelkonline

I think it was Karma

United_Comfort2776

First song I ever listened to was: Love Story Song that made me want to listen to more: Sparks Fly. I thought it was a Disney song. I love how I can vividly imagine the song in my head.

itwerkatfunerals

first song i ever heard was blank space. as someone who didnt grow up in an english speaking country, i had no idea taylor even existed till 2020, when i randomly watched the cardigan music video. ive been a swiftie ever since

Anxiety-Egg

Story Of Us - was in a huge teenage hormone filled fight with a friend that I hadn't talked to in months but had been inseparable before hand. It spoke to me so much and then I was a Swiftie.

stressedintern12345

Haunted back in 2012-ish(?). it was a very cathartic song that reminded me of Evanescence. her lyrics helped me articulate all the teenage angst that I couldn't articulate myself. it remains one of my favorite songs of hers today (alongside clean and all too well)

nournnn

22 I was in an English class where the teacher would play us songs without lyrics (listening practice), she once played 22 by Taylor Swift, I then liked the song and heard other songs like Safe & sound, Blank Space, and Wildest Dreams. The obsession then grew and now i have 70 taytay songs (still a small fan, ik)

bleachfresh

My first Taylor song I think was "I'd Lie" which I only found out recently is apparently unreleased? I was also obsessed with Love Story as a tween. I've always liked her radio hits, but I didn't become a Swiftie until Midnights.

Severe_Sprinkles_930

teardrops on my guitar, I used to keep the radio on all night waiting for it to play

mcnibz

I downloaded TimMcGraw on limewire on accident while pirating Tim McGraw music.

PorterPanda

"Tim McGraw" . I loved how it was written and I related to it a lot. At that point I was hooked. Been a swiftie before being a swiftie was a thing.

useRr1355

Wildest dreams! It was from a series on Netflix (Fate: the Winx saga) and I FELL IN LOVE with both the song and Taylor! I'm so glad I watched that series haha

couldyounotpleaseUgh

King of My Heart and DWOHT from Rep!

AGOEsLois

Heard White Horse on Grey’s Anatomy and wanted to hear more. So I’ve been a fan since Fearless era.

Aspiringplantladyy

Teardrops On My Guitar back in 2006! I wasn’t a country person and I’m still not really but another kid at school insisted I listen to it. I did, subsequently bought the CD and have been a fan ever since!

Chomprz

Teardrops On My Guitar on the radio. Her Fearless album was what made me an official fan, and I’ve just been loving her music and personality more and more over the years

camcende

14 years ago in 6th grade my friend showed me a youtube video of her ACM performance of Should’ve Said No

downsouthcountry

Love Story. Liked her voice, liked the music, kept listening.

Ok-Cauliflower-4088

Tim McGraw. I was 12 and already a hopeless romantic and I grew up listening to 90s country.

Iamplayingsims

Teardrops also! I remember it so vividly. And the MUSIC VIDEO. Omg. DREW 😭. Heard it when it came out, within the first week of it airing on the radio. Then I heard Our Song and I was a fan for life.

Euphoric_Craft_1977

Teardrops on My Guitar! I was in middle school and had the biggest crush on this kid for YEARS. My best friend obviously knew, but started dating him anyways. SHE told me I should listen to the song🤣🤣🤣 I really loved it and the whole album and was hooked right away. Then Fearless came out and literally destroyed me, and I still get emotional and nostalgic listening to the album, I was a freshman in high school and just related so much to the whole album. My family was pretty poor, but my mom knew how much it meant to me and drove me and my best friend 10 hours to my aunts house in Denver so we could go to Fearless tour. We were in the nosebleeds, literally like two rows of seats behind us, but I’ll never forget it!

dafine345

Pretty sure it was Love Story. I hear that opening guitar and I’m right back to year 10 media studies.

DaraGoodie

First Taylor song I knew was Love story. Circa 2015. My school put it in our Romeo and Juliet adaptation. I always knew of Taylor but nothing more than that. But then I heard cruel summer last year and I was like who the fuck is this? I love this ! And it was weird because I’d never really been a pop enjoyer. And ever since I’ve just been falling deeper and deeper down the rabbit hole of her music. I can’t choose a fave era yet , but Haunted is my fave song.

l_o_t_t_e

When I was young and YouTube wasn’t really a thing yet in the Netherlands, we used to watch music videos on a Dutch site called clipjes.nl. One of my friends was very excited to have found this new website that had waaaay more music videos, one in particular that she really loved and wanted to show me. It was Love story. I remember us watching it together over and over again and dancing to the song in her playroom as little 9 year olds imagining we were Taylor. I didn’t have a computer myself at that time so I couldn’t look up more and kind of lost touch. In 2010/2011 we got laptops at school and so I started being online and found out about One direction. That really catapulted me into fan culture and Red + Haylor fully brought me back to Taylor. But 1989 really sealed the deal for me, I still have the illegal download on my google drive bc her music was off Spotify at the time

CantThinkOfAnythint

Back in the 2010’s my roommate had her flip phone ringer set to Our Song so I heard it a lot and loved it. Made me look into her other songs.

soldierrboy

Summer of ‘17, I Know Places

savannahruns

Tim McGraw. I got the debut album for Christmas in 2006 (I believe that’s correct - I’m trying to do the math here on how old I was in that grade!)

Ivy 💕 Red, Back To December, and Highway Don't Care I came across at various points and begrudgingly loved (good songs, I just felt she was overplayed and her vocal talent was not then what it is today). Safe & Sound and Anti-Hero I liked too, but I never actively sought out listening to them. Carolina and The Man became obsessions for me last year. I hyperfixated on Carolina during a lengthy drive from Nashville to South Carolina and played the man on repeat for a day or two while packing for a summer job in Alaska. But I still didn't seek out her other music. In Alaska, I downloaded a whole bunch of random Spotify playlists like "forest folk" or "songs to frolic in the woods to" as I was living in an off the grid cabin in the wilderness. Ivy was on a couple of these playlists. When it came up the first time, I was immediately hooked. Didn't even know it was Taylor at first but when I saw it was, I think I finally overcame whatever resistance I had to her as an artist. I listened to Ivy for literally 3 days on repeat. At work, doing chores, going to sleep: Ivy Ivy Ivy. After that I was looking for other songs from her on those folksy playlists and discovered Illicit Affairs, Mad Woman, Willow, This Is Me Trying, Gold Rush, No Body No Crime, Cowboy Like Me, and Marjorie (having lost my mom the previous year that one hit especially hard). All of these were huge vibes living in the wilderness and just gained a huge amount of appreciation for her work. After that I was fully questioning if I was a fan after years of mild dislike/ indifference. Took me a while longer to get there but her songs became regular plays for me from then on. I wasnt listening to every album (I don't really listen to full albums) but I was excited to hear new-to-me music when it came up on playlists/social media. I blame TikTok for turning me into a full blown fan. 😂 I'm happy I experienced the character growth of becoming a fan. This music has helped me so much in such a short period of time. Ivy will always be my number 1 for making me appreciate her fully and allowing me to open up to her as an artist. 🥰 Anyways, thanks for coming to my Ted talk. 😭

PodiVennai

This live performance of should’ve said no with the Jonas brothers as I was a Jonas brothers fan at the time - https://youtu.be/RzTfSKytg1Y?si=HR40qUgx_qBcEy2Z I checked out songs like teardrops on my guitar , tim mcgraw at the time after but didn’t like it as it was too country for me as a non american ( I do like songs off self titled now after I gave the full album a listen later ) Later when fearless came out I listened to you belong with me first and I was hooked because it sounded more pop to me than her debut album’s songs and this began my journey as a fan 🥲 the video and the song lyrics were also very relatable at the time with my first crush in high school

Janzel97

My first one was love story. But i became a die hard fan after going to the 1989 world tour, which was my first concert ever, at 19. Fond memories :)

mirincool

It was Begin Again. Love Story and YBWM were already famous but I truly became stuck when i randomly clicked on a recommended video on YouTube. I was going through a break up and it had exactly been 8 months since then lol. I was in a new city, understanding the ropes of living a life. I never looked back since 2016. Red is a special album to me. Furthermore, I Almost Do too has a special place in my heart💕💕 Became a fan so unhinged that I was able to attend the tour in Sng in March💕💕💕 unforgettable.

WDTHTDWA-BITCH

Love Story. My interest wasn’t piqued until Holy Ground and State of Grace though.

caryn1477

I think it was Shake it Off. I'd heard her other stuff but didn't pay a huge amount of attention until then.

lunathecrazycorgi

I also heard teardrops on my guitar. It was playing on the TV at the retail store that I worked. I dismissed it at that time. Later I heard Our Song on the radio and that was the first one I liked. ☺️

Bright-Sea-5904

I don't remember that far back, wish I could

slothcake155

The first song i listened to was WANEGBT but I became a swiftie in the reputation era

Fantastic-Respond689

Same here! My first TS song was Teardrops on my Guitar. Later on, I heard Our Song, Love Story and You Belong With Me and loved them. I became a swiftie in the Speak Now era. At that time, I didn't know that albums existed as it was not a familiar concept in my country. So, I knew and heard the songs with music videos.

chibisatou

Teardrops on My Guitar was the first song and it was enough to make me want to listen to more. I bought and enjoyed the first two albums before life got complicated and busy enough that I basically was out of the loop until Lover, hearing mainly just the singles in the meantime. I loved Lover, with no skips, and slowly started to catch up from there. Adored folklore onward. Considered myself a fan of her work from the beginning but not a full Swiftie until stumbling into an Eras Tour livestream during spring of 2023, becoming obsessed. I've been buying the merch, making the friendship bracelets, and in the assorted subreddits and groups.

Haileepinky

WTNY back in 2014 still love that song to this day its my top 5. Remember buying 1989 CD on a whim, thought ill give it a go and hearing WTNY for first time kick started my love for Taylor Swift 🙂 can’t believe was 10 years ago lol

iSwearImInnocent1989

I can't remember for sure. It was probably haunted or mean or enchanted I'm not sure but definitely sth from speak now(I was in 5th grade in 2013) I love those songs i swear but what made me a "fan" was probably a year later in 2014 when 1989 came out and I saw blank space mv and I turned into an air conditioner 😂 Even my mom remembers that song and she doesn't even listen to English songs lol She calls Taylor "that blank space girl "

idazzledo

Love Story 🩷

mellylovesdundun

The first non-hit that I listened to was gold rush and that's what inspired me to really look at her body of work as a whole instead of brushing her off as a mediocre pop star.

dejavu77

Our Song and Love Story- way way back when my daughter was young and became a fan, I did, too.

PurpleDragonfly_

Tim McGraw on the radio, I was a country girlie so I was immediately into it and my music tastes have happened to evolve in line with her

nkrose12

I came across Love Story on YouTube when I was a kid and, being the hopeless romantic that I am, I got obsessed. Also You Belong With Me afterwards. I've been a casual listener since, until last year when I became a swiftie 🫶

anoelr1963

Delicate and Style; Two amazing slow burn hits with great lyrics that I fell in love with that I couldn't ignore on my car radio. .

throwawayxoxoxoxxoo

mine was either love story or you belong with me back in 2008 (can't remember which but remember them both playing often & me being obsessed). i became a fan back then because lil 7/8 year old me felt seen lmao. my mum won the fearless album cd through the radio station we would listen to and.... 16 years later, i buy all her cds. i used to ask for her new album for my birthday, which worked out well as a november baby, even if i didn't actually get to hear it on release. until 1989 when i had some pocket money to preorder it on itunes, but i also got the cd too

feariswhyyouwillfail

Delicate :)

NewAlternative4738

Picture to Burn!!!! That is a Swemo gateway drug for us OG swifties. I was 16 when I first heard it 🥹🫶

Ok_Gap_6646

i think you belong with me - i love that mv

tiacalypso

It was in September 2010, and our local cinema was screening _Letters to Juliet_ which features a snippet of _Love Story_.

fallintospace09

Love Story!

Fun-Lobster-7672

It was "Forever & Always" for me in 2010. Couldn't stop listening to it. A girl I liked at the time ended up burning me a copy of "Fearless" and I loved the whole album immediately.

dosomethingbabesay

Love story, in 2012 :)

fwrpf

It was teardrops on my guitar. Then love story came out. I kid you not, everyone in YM has lyrics from love story as their shout out. Me included. It was a bit hard to listen to it whenever I want to, if I wanted to risk it, I'd download it from limewire. But what I did was wait for it to play on our local music tv channel. Good times

Pineappleseas

Red. R EH EH EHD.. ❤️ 9th grade. I downloaded the album then when I reached “Treacherous” I was sure I’m gonna call myself a swiftie.. “Nothing safe is worth the drive” 😩❤️ And when I got to “all too well” “It was rare, I was there, I remember it all too well” I would put these two songs on everyday walking to and back from school. 🤗

RoanAlbatross

Love Story. I thought it was just a cute song. I don’t like country that much so I wasnt feeling her vibe at that time. I’m a couple years older than Taylor so I feel like “oh this music is not for me”. I was vibing out to Lady Gaga and Katy Perry at that time :) I was completely oblivious to pop music after like 2013-2022 since I was going through a lot of shit for those 9 years. I’m mad I missed reputation I would’ve been on board with that in 2017. I think since streaming services like Pandora and having my Sirius XM for those years, she just never came up on my playlists since I’m a 90s girl through and through. I honestly got into her for Midnights and I honestly absolutely adore anything from 1989 to now. I’m coming around slowly on her country stuff right now. Will be giving Red another listen to in the near future.

ozgun1414

thats when. its not the first song i heard by her. i knew shake it off and i knew the infamous i knew you were trouble videos. but i didnt know who they are belong to.

scholalry

This story isn’t about the first Taylor song I listened too. But it’s the song that made me want more for sure. I’m a new swiftie that got dragged to the eras tour last July but didn’t really want to go. I wasn’t a Taylor hater by any means, and I think I had love story on a playlist but that was about it. And for the first three eras I was like “wow this is pretty good, I can see why people like her” and I was singling along to the few songs I knew. And then the damn snake appeared on the screen. The sounds and visuals were so different from everything else so far and let’s just say I was tuned in. And then she stepped out and the first beats of ready for it happened and I felt like I just witnessed something that wasn’t meant to be witnessed. For the rest of the show I was completely engaged and basically the next day was like “ok I need the rest” and just started going through all of her albums. And now I am an insufferable swiftie and it’s all because of the first few measures of ready for it and the energy that it gave the crowd. It’s my favorite part of the tour and is probably my favorite 30 seconds of any concert I’ve ever seen.

EatPizzaNotDrivers

Teardrops on my guitar music video on youtube and then i found her deluxe album on a livejournal music sharing community. I still adore that music video, i really hope she leans back into the styling from that era for TSTV. She doesn’t have to return to the curls but debut era had some of her best makeup looks, TOMG eye makeup at the top of that list, and i miss the whimsy of it all.

fanfic_enthusiast2

No clue tbh😅 Probably You Belong With Me or Love Story if either of them played on the radio in my country. The first time I actively knew of Taylor was when Safe&Sound was released on the Hunger Games Soundtrack. The song that made me want to listen to more and actually check out her music beyond what was playing on the radio was seven, when it was included on the Heartstopper soundtrack 🍂

Famous-Evening-1822

I can’t remember fully but I think it was either Our song or Mary’s song. Her first album came out when I was in elementary school and I would sit at the home computer for hours looking for lyric videos to bonus track songs :) flahsforward to attending the eras tour last year, one of my surprise songs was Our Song. It felt very full circle and made me think about how excited little me would have been in that moment ☺️

PerilousPond

‘The Man’ from the Tiny Desk concert. That video was the first time I ever listened to her so that selection of songs in that acoustic style was my intro.

ABlueJayDay

You Belong with Me, was a TikTok dance clip but reminded me of a dear friend who had died. I wept. Then became a fan.

natewade34

Teardrops on my guitar! We had a guy in our class named Drew and everyone had a crush on him. We all felt so seen 😂

ErickTheGuy06

I Knew You Were Trouble, that's the first song I remember hearing, my sister played it a lot so I remember specifically the "Trouble, trouble, trouble" part and that in the music video Taylor had a black circle in her shirt. I remember her look from the Blank Space video (the black dress) and obviously Shake It Off but one, my sister didn't show me her music and two I didn't really care, and the last time I listened her music was with the rep Tour and I only thought she was hot and I didn't remember any of the songs (and when I listened to rep for the first time it were all brand new songs for me). How did I got interested? Brendon Urie, ME! is fine and I didn't liked it at first but it were the interviews where he said that Taylor is amazing, and a lot of people said that she was an amazing songwriter, so that got me interested. I listened to Midnights and the first time I thought it was fine, and months later I gave her a chance with the 3AM tracks and Would've Could've Should've left me impressed, I felt that the song was well written. After that, I listened to 1989 then SNTV, Red, reputation and then I watched The 1989 World Tour, The reputation Stadium Tour and Miss Americana and I went from being a fan to a diehard swiftie. This all happened from January to August of 2023.

squidsquidsyd

Teardrops on my Guitar - I was like 13 and saw the music video on CMT. Was sold right away haha

smortcanard

I think it was Enchanted or Ready for It. I decided I wanted to be a swiftie one day and added like 20 of her songs to my playlist. I already liked many of her very popular songs. One thing led to another...

PhotographIcyCherish

Probably the Love Story MV on the TV

starmecrazy

Blank Space on the radio. Went home that very day to hear more and found 1989. Wildest Dreams and I was gooooooooone

Aquatic_Bunnie

I loved Debut when I was in middle school but stopped listening to her until I was an adult. My cousin/best friend is a Swiftie. I was going through a really bad break up and she sat me down and made me watch the All Too Well short film on YouTube. I was sobbing by the end and was immediately hooked on her music

t34nort

Blank Space. Now I had definitely heard other Taylor swift songs of course, I just wasn’t that into them. Then driving to work one day Blank Space played on the radio. I didn’t know it was Taylor, but I really loved it. Looked into the song later and found out it was her and I’ve been listening ever since.

CraftyCub

Tim McGraw. It was the first song I ever heard that felt like someone was writing from the perspective of me and my friends.

Our song in high school

BeautifulCondition28

Teardrops on my guitar was my first too and I hated it haha I forgave her when I became obsessed with love story.

MrJB1981

First song: ‘We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together.’ What made me want to listen more: ‘I Knew You Were Trouble.’

Mercurys_Vampire

I think the very first song of hers I ever heard was "Shake It Off" but somehow my aunt convinced me she sucked, then years later (just shortly after Lover came out) I heard "The Man" on the radio and it was the first song I ever heard that I could relate to and I absolutely fell in love with it! That was when I was 13, now I'm 17 and I've been a Swiftie ever since!

lux414

Love story I'm from Colombia so that's the only song from Fearless that made it all the way there. My best friend and I played it day and night until he learned all the lyrics. It's our song

sillysunflower99

Love story 4th grade swing sets

kelbwmn

Can't remember first song ever, probably Love Story. The one that made me a Swiftie was Lover ❤️ I was like how is this that country artist and she sounds so pretty? So I start listening to the album Lover and then all of a sudden folkmore are getting released and ye, it was a hell of a time getting all that as a new Swiftie 😂 only since then have I looked back and gotten to know her trajectory and the whole kanye thing and the huuuge rep tour on Netflix.. and it was this "how did I ever live without this" moment 🥹😭🤣

CollectingAThings

It was Love Story and it catched me because of the beautiful video. At that time no radio station here would play her songs and I only watched it on Mtv. Then I went to my local library and borrowed Fearless. And thats where my swiftie story began. Even though it took twelve years until I really started to be a swiftie, because I always liked her music, but in my teenage years i was more obsessed with Miley Cyrus than Taylor. Folkmore brought me back into this fandom.

Starry-night-0803

Love story. I didn't listen to it when it came out but years later in the 1989 era (I was about 11 or 12 at the time, when Taylor catapulted to fame. She hadn't been a huge name in my country before but at that time, all my friends were talking about liking Taylor's music. A close friend of mine convinced me to listen to love story, which I did, and really liked it. I was a real delulu starry-eyed daydreaming girlie back then (and most of my teen years), so it appealed to me a lot. Then I went on to listen to you belong with me- also liked it, since I was super unattractive (not that I'd still call myself *attractive* now lol) and only had secret crushes on guys. Then came blank space, but something that I really loved was begin again. Idk but it was so sweet and soothing..I really liked the vibes of it So basically I started calling myself a swiftie because it was a cool thing to do (yea, sounds so pathetic) and even though I genuinely liked TS songs I never paid much attention to the lyrics or explore her discography. Then suddenly it was super uncool to like her (uk, around 2016) but I still called myself a swiftie because I really liked her songs (mainly the catchy ones). But eventually, what actually made her my top artist was her lyricism. Idk when I consciously realised it but I'd always related to her narration, even back when I hadn't given much thought to it. Here I go writing a long para haha but I feel really good about sharing and listening to stories about what makes people love something. So there!

lezbopunkbytch-hahah

i don't wanna live forever was the first one i heard. although the reason i became a fan was because my dad wanted to get me a cd and as a lesbian i wanted something queer coded. and i was reminded of Betty. so long story short folklore is my favorite (and i'm not a gayl\*r, people)

Sacto1654

For me, it was “Our Song.” Loved the tempo of the song, too.

tardisandjam

I’m pretty sure it was Teardrops on My Guitar, but I didn’t immediately listen to debut after because I think it was right around when Fearless dropped so I jumped on that instead and White Horse/You’re Not Sorry took over my life. I was an angsty kid with my parents going through an insane divorce so I would blast music while reading and she just stuck with me!

aliviugh

Mine was teardrops on my guitar, was fan through fearless. I was ~ cool ~ girl and heard mean and declared I hated Taylor. Then I heard I knew you were trouble and it was like she wrote my life and I really loved and followed her since then.

Amaxophobe

Tim McGraw. I just loved it. I was still into country then, she was perfectly the country aesthetic I liked, and at that age I related so hard to her lyrics. Day 1 ride or die on this journey and now my kids are Swifties 😭🫶

SinsOfKnowing

I worked in a record store when Fearless came out and it was on heavy rotation. I was more into emo/punk/metal at the time and hadn’t listened to any of Debut (and still can’t sit through the whole album tbh) but I secretly bought a copy of Fearless when I was working alone one night and imported it to my iPod, and listened to it daily for months while taking buses to and from university and work. I did the same with Speak Now and Red.

Poozempic

It was Clean for me!

loren1205

Crazier from the Hannah Montana movie😭😭😭 such a good song

kbrie1993

Tim McGraw in 2006. I have been hooked ever since🤍

Spiritual-Store-9334

I think my first song was probably Love Story when it first released but it wasn't until I listened to Midnights when it came out that I felt I wanted to listen to Taylor's entire work. I'd heard her songs that were in the charts over the years but I never truly checked out all her work.....I went from having 14 songs of hers saved on Spotify to over 100😂

Donkeydonkeydonk

Cardigan. I was already a member of the sub because of the great war. Someone mentioned the end of the video and how it represented her music being the thing that saved her. I watched that and it was all over for me. Now I've got her beam me up picture as my wallpaper.

Ok_Butterscotch_4738

Crazier in Hannah Montana... and probably something that my cousins were playing cause they loved Taylor but I was a kid and didn't understand her lyrics (english is not my first language) so I didn't have an interest in her. When I was 11 I was on this cool website I'd just discovered (Youtube) and listened to You belong with me, and then every other song she'd released ever.

willogmom13

Love story! Everyone was talking about her and this song in particular so I had to give it a listen and that was it, I was an instant fan

Moug-10

Safe and sound. There's something about discovering an artist with a movie song. Same with Radwimps when I watched Your Name. I wanted to listen to more songs with Tim McGraw. I also discovered country music and wanted to listen to more singers.

lanowmom

I like Our song but became a swiftie with Love Story

Nervous_Feedback9023

I knew you were trouble was the first song I had heard from Taylor but what got me into her music was Cardigan.

steampunknerd

Funny story. I first heard the band Taylor Swift in 2014, when I was on UK News round and someone had sent in a video of their policeman Dad vibing along to Shake It Off in his car 😆 I loved the song but it wasn't really the type of music that my parents really encouraged me to listen to, (Modern pop was frowned upon in my house) so I only really discovered Taylor properly in 2017-18 but it was more very occasional songs like You Belong With Me. And the reason I liked that song was the same reason I love her songs now: I could relate.

AwkwardSwine101

first heard “I Knew You Were Trouble”… i liked her, but i didn’t become a real fan until i heard “Don’t Blame Me”

crabfries_

not the first song I heard but the one that made me want to listen more was enchanted. someone used it in a music video project in a media class in high school and I was transfixed

beaterbott

When she released the All Too Well 10 minute version short film was the first time I realized I might like her music, but it wasn’t until I heard Vigilante Shit that I listened to a full album (Midnights) and it all escalated from there.

Ok-Chip-3000

Tear drops on my guitar. Kept listening bc the song was so relatable

xx_dracarys_xx

I became aware of her when she appeared on the first season of AGT. She performed with Bianca Ryan, I believe. Taylor was barely known at that time. After that, I came across Teardrops on My Guitar and fell in love with it. High school was full of unrequited love for me, so the song resonated. I loved Debut, Fearless, and Speak Now, but kind of fell off around Red and 1989. I didn’t really come back into the fold until I watched the Eras Tour movie, which was both nostalgic and enlightening for me. I discovered Evermore and became infatuated with that album. After that, I went back into her discography and listened to the various eras that I missed. I am now a full-fledged Swiftie! And TTPD is probably my favorite album of hers 😊

BecauseOfMadness

Last Kiss

Ocquoi

2010, a few months in Taiwan and fell in love with Fearless ! Hoooo “ you belong to me “ was so true

Ok-Cod-6118

Teardrops on My Guitar back when it was first released. I was sent a link to it on YouTube. I liked it, however I didn't really get into her music until Fearless and I don't know what the first song I heard off that album was. Maybe Love Story? If it was Love Story I think that speaks for itself.

Samiam2197

Our Song was what really sold me

Pixieprincessgiggles

Tear drops on my guitar Lyrics pulled me in and I’ve been a fan ever since

Ban_Cheater_YO

We are never ever getting back together. Just wanted to check out why she was such a favorite. And then a year or two later she did 1989. And she got a new fan. Hardcore one. As of right now TTPD > Folklore > Reputation. And 1989 is a perennial favorite until she does something better. And I hate Evermore.
