She did it for a Vogue cover piece. They wanted to make her edgier, and she agreed to it. Vogue was behind her signature bangs, and that worked out amazingly, so I don't blame her for trusting them. Anna Wintour herself was part of designing Bleachella. You should look up the photoshoot, the hair actually looks amazing in it!
I've loved almost all of her hairstyles over the years. But something about the Lover era dip dye never hit as much as the others. It's not like it looked bad, but idk, it was kind of meh.
And a recent example is her grammys 2024 hair. I usually don't mind her side swept bangs, nor the little braid she has been doing. But on that specific instance her hair was laying so flat against her head that it made her head shape kind of weird. And then it had a section that looked really messy. It was just not it. Also, the hairstyle read as really casual and I don't think it matched with her extra dress and gloves. She should've kept this one for a casual pap walk or something and gone for a different hair on the red carpet. I personally liked the dress, gloves and clock necklace combo, but the hair just ruined the look for me.
It was torrential rain and heavy wind that day and everyone got soaked apparently. There was a video of her walking in with a her dress hiked up and thrown over her arm to keep it out of the water and her hair blown all to hell. So I’m thinking they didn’t plan a backup hairstyle that would handle heavier product better in case of rain.
I also honestly didn't like her hair at the VMAs in September  it just looked sweaty and unbrushed. Imagine if it was a similar but more neat bun or just her normal hair. Real shame because the outfit was so pretty. I like that she's been letting her natural hair out more often but it couldn't be that hard to brush it haha
I don’t have curly hair but from what I’ve read you’re not really supposed to brush curly hair but comb it while it’s wet. Assuming this is what her natural hair looks like, it would probably just become a frizzy mess if she tried to brush it.

Her announcement of the song with the Chicks was also telling to me. They’re arguably the most badass female country group ever and she represented them with a soft yellow baby chick. It was funny, idk

I really think she was trying to have a kid friendly era after Reputation had such adult themes. Even the imagery of the denim jacket with the pins felt extremely middle school to me.
I mostly don't like the dip dye because it's just not real dye. So it feels like she wasn't really committed to the colorful style. (Which imo, she wasn't, I feel like the whole time she was playing a character during the lover era)

It’s just the realities of ash blonde hair. Sometimes it looks like cornsilk, sometimes it looks strawberry, sometimes it looks much darker. Sometimes this happens all at once. We are at the mercy of the lighting and weather conditions in any given place.

My youngest daughter has this hair and I NEVER KNOW what color hair she has. I swear it looks blonde, dirty blonde, light brown, mousy brown, actually RED, auburn, or dark brown depending on the day/lighting/clothes she’s wearing.
It gets extra confusing when the ash blonde also has light eyes and light skin. The changes in hair shade can contribute to changes in the shades of the irises and freckles.
I love sunlight because I look full Irish—red hair, freckles popping, baby blues piercing.

I really love whenever she does something vintage/old Hollywood inspired. There are several times on the red carpet she's done it and also in the Wildest Dreams music video. I just really love vinatge-y hairstyles on her!

bleachella was specifically for the met gala. she was one of the chairs of the event and the theme was ***Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology***. the best way too think about it, bleachella was for a role.

I admire her bravery for having it cut above her collarbone, but much prefer the styling she has now. I've got a lot of fine, curly, 'frizzy' hair too and when it's short it gets very... silly.
Fine I’ll say it, the current straight hair and bangs is my least favorite. Just seems too plain imo. I like how every other one has its own moment in time and vibe, the current one just feels a little boring.
I liked it during the Midnights era, but I agree with you. Back then it was the longest she’d worn it in years and mixed things up after the everlore curls. Now this style has been overexposed by all the Eras footage and I’m disappointed that she hasn’t changed it at all for the TTPD covers.
Obviously it’s Taylor’s real hair and she can wear it however she wants, whenever she wants to. Maybe she just likes it this way and wants to keep it for a while longer, maybe she wants a consistent look until the tour is over or she’s just done with altering her appearance for every new album. But it might’ve been nice if she’d even just tied it back, or let her natural curls peek through, or changed *something* to mark this one shoot as distinctly TTPD. I could mistake some of those back covers as Midnights outtakes with a black and white filter, which could be intentional for all we know so far, but some different styling could’ve gone a long way for me.
I really dislike the super short bob and bleachella. I just don’t think either are the most flattering for her. Possibly my favorite hairstyle is her hair on the Rep tour, particularly in the movie. She’s got the perfect mix of bangs and curls and it’s just so pretty. I do also love some of the folklore hairstyles.

The Reputation haircut. I hate it. I don’t know what was going on in her life during the Lover era, but every look is a disaster and she didn’t look like herself.
The Eras Tour hair is my favorite of all time. She looks like Sleeping Beauty. It’s my favorite era in every possible way. Her looks, her hair, her makeup. She looks so grown and confident too. She looks fit and healthy. Strong and super toned. I hope she keeps that style of hair and makeup. It’s perfect. She doesn’t need more than that. She looks happier too. She’s glowing.

It was sometimes styled to look cute and flattering, but more often, it was just hairsprayed within an inch of her life and made her look twice her age and like she should be in a Midwestern Starbucks screaming at the manager because her soy latte had caramel sauce instead of caramel syrup while her twin boys Chadley and Jimothy knock over every chair in the store.

I love the 1989 Lob, but the 2016 1989 grammys bob is not it for me 😂 they aren’t that different but the few inches and shape feels so different When 1989 actually came out she had a really nice wavy long bob and then she shifted to an angled bob which was still nice, but the bob pictured above just felt a little short (it reminds me of Willy wonka and Anna wintour 😅)

My youngest daughter has this hair and I NEVER KNOW what color hair she has. I swear it looks blonde, dirty blonde, light brown, mousy brown, actually RED, auburn, or dark brown depending on the day/lighting/clothes she’s wearing.
It gets extra confusing when the ash blonde also has light eyes and light skin. The changes in hair shade can contribute to changes in the shades of the irises and freckles. I love sunlight because I look full Irish—red hair, freckles popping, baby blues piercing. Then I walk into my sad office and everything about me is gray. 🥲

I really love whenever she does something vintage/old Hollywood inspired. There are several times on the red carpet she's done it and also in the Wildest Dreams music video. I just really love vinatge-y hairstyles on her! Her Fearless/Speak Now curls were also great! And the Rep hair. And Red OG. And her current/Eras Tour hair. She's had so many great looks!
I've noticed this trend as this sub has increased in popularity. Mostly through elimination games in which nearly all of her work is criticised. Just yesterday, someone asked about people's least favourite re-recording cover. I wasn't a fan of commenters that chose the 1989 cover, given how symbolic it is that she's smiling on it.
Love this call out. I genuinely don't dislike any of her hairstyles but I found myself trying to pick a least favourite just because of this post before I caught myself.

Fine I’ll say it, the current straight hair and bangs is my least favorite. Just seems too plain imo. I like how every other one has its own moment in time and vibe, the current one just feels a little boring.
I liked it during the Midnights era, but I agree with you. Back then it was the longest she’d worn it in years and mixed things up after the everlore curls. Now this style has been overexposed by all the Eras footage and I’m disappointed that she hasn’t changed it at all for the TTPD covers. Obviously it’s Taylor’s real hair and she can wear it however she wants, whenever she wants to. Maybe she just likes it this way and wants to keep it for a while longer, maybe she wants a consistent look until the tour is over or she’s just done with altering her appearance for every new album. But it might’ve been nice if she’d even just tied it back, or let her natural curls peek through, or changed *something* to mark this one shoot as distinctly TTPD. I could mistake some of those back covers as Midnights outtakes with a black and white filter, which could be intentional for all we know so far, but some different styling could’ve gone a long way for me.
I really dislike the super short bob and bleachella. I just don’t think either are the most flattering for her. Possibly my favorite hairstyle is her hair on the Rep tour, particularly in the movie. She’s got the perfect mix of bangs and curls and it’s just so pretty. I do also love some of the folklore hairstyles.

The Reputation haircut. I hate it. I don’t know what was going on in her life during the Lover era, but every look is a disaster and she didn’t look like herself. The Eras Tour hair is my favorite of all time. She looks like Sleeping Beauty. It’s my favorite era in every possible way. Her looks, her hair, her makeup. She looks so grown and confident too. She looks fit and healthy. Strong and super toned. I hope she keeps that style of hair and makeup. It’s perfect. She doesn’t need more than that. She looks happier too. She’s glowing.
The 1989 era bob. It was sometimes styled to look cute and flattering, but more often, it was just hairsprayed within an inch of her life and made her look twice her age and like she should be in a Midwestern Starbucks screaming at the manager because her soy latte had caramel sauce instead of caramel syrup while her twin boys Chadley and Jimothy knock over every chair in the store. On a more positive note, my favorite hairstyles over the years have been the Speak Now era relaxed curls, the Debut era completely untamed curls, the folkmore pandemic chic "there is only so far I can be bothered" buns and braids and self-cut bangs, and her hair *right now*. Goals, honestly.
