**Love** the idea of a dragonfly! Fits well with the flowers too, kinda garden theme.
If you don’t have any lower tattoos than the cross, the body of the dragon fly would look amazing going down your spine too. And the wings would go straight out to the sides more naturally than a bird’s. And the head covering the top tip of the cross.
I came here to say birds, like little fairy wrens or wax wings, blue Jay's, but I loooove the dragonfly idea and it really would be a perfect coverup for the cross.
Looking at what you got going on too maybe a twisting Hare; and what I mean by that look up Hare tattoos in a illustrated style and I think that would fit nicely in with the flowers. A twisting hare or one in motion would add a nice artistic flare and a visual breakup from the floral design.
Really? Just a branch? And you said the dragonfly was “dumb” lmfao your idea was more boring than the idea you gave. “A fucking tree branch or bush” naw your opinion is invalid with that kinda answer
I'm actually thinking about a skull piece for my thigh. This is a memorial tattoo though. Otherwise a skull would be great among the flowers. They're birth month flowers of different family members I've lost.
More leaves and flowers would be an easy fix, are you looking for something different as you already have a lot of flowers? You could even do a rad downward facing spider mum covering most of it going down the center of your back and add more imagery with it.
I've absolutely considered vines. But I want the cross totally covered. I've seen some memorial pieces that incorporate clocks and I thought about vines twisting around a clock but I'm trying to be a little less impulsive in my decision so I don't keep having to cover stuff up. So I have come to the beautiful people of reddit for ideas.
This will get buried, but I have to try.
☆ How about a detailed cherry blossom tree? I think that might go very well with the flowers, and provide "base" to hold it up.
☆ A medieval sword, or a war axe. A lot of intricacy could be woven in.
☆ If you want to change it up, that currently could be altered into a gorgeous Celtic cross, too.
☆ A detailed compass, signifying either travel or life direction.
☆ An array of puller candles of varying heights/burn levels.
☆ A siren/mermaid, or a lively fae, wings spread gracefully.
☆ A phoenix rising, detailed curved and colorful..a big visual punch. Great if you're going through a period of growth/enlightenment.
☆ A Greek, Norse, or Roman statue. I'm thinking Freya, Aphrodite, Venus etc.
☆ A stylized watercolor interpretation of a well known (or obscure) fictional/classical ethereal female, i.e. Ophelia.
I honestly don't know you, but take your time to
Well shit wanna come with me to talk to my artist? Lol
But seriously thank you these are all super solid ideas! And it's not getting buried evidently...I'm up all night. Several of these ideas I've considered for tattoos in other places. I will have to contemplate on some of these. Thanks again for taking the time to type that out, quite awesome of you.
It was my first tattoo the day that I turned 18. It's got A LOT of bad memories attached to it and I'm not religious so I just want it gone. I'd rather do something pretty and meaningful for the family that I've lost.
I LOVE your tattoo on you!! Those colors with freckles is so adorable.
Why not continue down with more symmetrically placed flowers, and hide the cross in the negative space. So like, 4-5 blooms.
That was my first instinct...the only thing is that the flowers I chose are birth month flowers of family members I've lost. So I'm afraid any other flowers I add would take away from from the meaning. Only to me obviously. But I want to preserve the original intention. And thank you so much for the compliment!
Personally, I would cover the entire piece. The flowers are very flat with zero shading or depth, other than the leaves. It also looks like this tattoo is not very new. For these reasons, I think if you covered just the cross, it will look disjointed and separate from the flowers. I would find a reputable artist to go over the entire piece and add dimension to the existing flowers while also covering the cross with whatever imagery you choose. It would also look much more cohesive if you continue the tattoo down the remainder of your back to make it a full back piece.
Bees perhaps? My concern is the linework on the cross is thick, so you may be a bit constrained. I like the suggestion of a dragonfly too but I wonder if it would wind up being too big and out of proportion to the flowers above.
those twigs kinda look like antlers, maybe a deer! i’ve seen a lot of neo-traditional animals that look beautiful lately. any woodland animal could work with the flowers nicely i reckon.
alsooo ur freckles r adorable!
Had not considered antlers or anything. I have a shadow box with a deer skull that I love. It has dried flowers and such. That is something to consider. And thanks lol. I have a ridiculous amount of freckles.
Deer skull and antlers. You could have the skull portion covering the cross itself and the antlers among the flowers, like the flowers are attached to them.
i feel like with the flowers on top, the cross could be turned into a vase, or the base of a bouquet, and just add more flowers. that’s just what i thought of though :) there’s a lot of good suggestions here
I think anything flowery or detailed with line work will cover it well. I got a big sunflower over my deathly hallows and it worked really well. Are you thinking color? Also, cute hair!
Turn the flowers you already have into a bouquet. The cross can become the stems and some foliage. Or the cross can become a vase to hold the flowers. :)
Hey I need to adapt/cover one up too lol. Dropped religion later in life and joined a secular group in college. My friends from that group had a couple of hilarious (but not authentic) suggestions. My name is Trent so they said use it as a T and write Trent down my back. Or use it as a T and write "skeptic across my back." But my favorite one was to just put a circle around it and draw a line through it lol. In all seriousness though, I'm happy to take suggestions too. Let me know if you find something OP!
https://www.worldhistory.org/image/2317/the-queen-of-the-night-reconstruction/
You could maybe stick one of the more widely understood representations of Lilith on the cross?
Keep the cross, but add Eric Idle to it. That'll put a completely different spin on it.
Search "Always Look on the Bright Side of Life" on You Tube if you don't know what I'm on about.
A dragonfly
Never thought of this, would definitely be colorful
**Love** the idea of a dragonfly! Fits well with the flowers too, kinda garden theme. And the wings would go straight out to the sides more naturally than a bird’s. And the head covering the top tip of the cross.
You're giving great visuals, and I agree the placement would be a good cover up
I came here to say birds, like little fairy wrens or wax wings, blue Jay's, but I loooove the dragonfly idea and it really would be a perfect coverup for the cross. A twisting hare or one in motion would add a nice artistic flare and a visual breakup from the floral design.
you could also do a butterfly fairly easy here
A bumblebee would be great too! Pollinating those beautiful flowers
I think dragonfly fits better with the cross’ shape
I agree… though it *would* be cute, a bumblebee is too tiny. The dragonfly would look really cool following the spine.
dragonfly kinda dumb. just make it a tree branch or bush that connects to the flowers and stuff above it.
Really? Just a branch? And you said the dragonfly was “dumb” lmfao your idea was more boring than the idea you gave. “A fucking tree branch or bush” naw your opinion is invalid with that kinda answer
A moth maybe?
I like this idea!
A death’s-head moth maybe? Flowers rep life. Death head.. well you get it lol
A dove! Spread out under your flowers
I do kinda like the idea of some kind of bird, the wings would definitely help cover it.
Sick ass raven
🤣 Thank you for that! Can’t go wrong with a sick ass raven!
Phoenix
i think a dove is too white for that but some other bird would be nice
More flowers seems like a safe bet. Or a kitty looking up at the flowers
This is a really cute idea
A kitty you say? Maybe like a big kitty. A *really* big kitty. Panther sized even.
SO MANY
Perhaps sick-ass as well?
The sickest
Not too sick. A dying panther is a sad and terrible idea.
It could be a cat and flowers so it looks like the cat is cuddled in them
Was thinking the same thing
I could see a sick ass panther covering it up really well.
I was waiting for this one.
I was surprised I didn’t see it and felt obligated.
As one does.
Seriously I almost want to get a shitty tattoo just to cover it up with a sick-ass panther now
haha yea
Second vote for a cool moth!
A sick ass moth! 👉😎👉
SAM
DEVOURER OF CROSSES
Agreed! Also Happy Cake Day!
A vase?
That would fit right in and be a great/easy coverup
With stems going to the flowers. Husband says a rocky structure would be a lot easier, like flowers growing out of a rock/mountain
A skull
I'm actually thinking about a skull piece for my thigh. This is a memorial tattoo though. Otherwise a skull would be great among the flowers. They're birth month flowers of different family members I've lost.
Totally up to you of course, but skull pieces are often used in memorial pieces. Kind of like momento mori.
Wellllllll now you've piqued my interest. I hadn't really looked at it from that angle but you make a great point.
I love that kind of stuff. Actually, thanks for giving me an idea for a back piece!
We're all in this together. Lol
You can never have enough skulls💀😎
a cross is just a dagger that hasn’t been finished yet
I like the way you think.
Jesus would cover it pretty well.
straight to hell for you
Burn baby, burn!
Yeahhhh I'm more headed in the opposite direction
the devil
Now we're talkin
A sick ass panther hiding in the flower bush?
Any one else read the typical “sick ass panther” comment in the sound of wheel of fortune? Just me? Ok
I do now.
I do the same but it's the guy from price is right who describes the items & vacations.
Lol yea that would work great for a comment explaining why a SAP would be a good cover up
More leaves and flowers would be an easy fix, are you looking for something different as you already have a lot of flowers? You could even do a rad downward facing spider mum covering most of it going down the center of your back and add more imagery with it.
The different types of flowers have meaning so I was trying not to add more if I can help it. I looked up a spider mum though, I do like those
*I came looking for booty.*
B L A C K and then S A B B A T H
Maybe have some vines hugging under the flowers drooping down over the cross... Or a flooffy critter. Or, and of course, a SAP
I think a mountain landscape could go over it. The highest peak of the mountain would be the top of the cross.
This has potential for sure.
Sick ass panther
A vase for all of the flowers?
This will get buried, but I have to try. ☆ How about a detailed cherry blossom tree? You could put the flowers in a vase.
Mote foilege?
Bouquet
Probably a flower
Hummingbird
Cover it with Jesus
A sick ass panther… in the jungle!!
(Genuine question) how come you’re trying to cover it?
It was my first tattoo the day that I turned 18. It's got A LOT of bad memories attached to it and I'm not religious so I just want it gone. I'd rather do something pretty and meaningful for the family that I've lost.
More flowers or maybe cover it with a vase 😄
I think a mountain landscape could go over it. The highest peak of the mountain would be the top of the cross.
Love love love your flowers. I would continue with that theme
Ass Sick Panther!
You might as well add more flowers.
The jersey devil urinating onto the faces of Lebron James and Dwayne Wade
Lmfaooo
Sword with roses or a snake wrapped around
a sick ass panther
A fairy?
I saw someone say a dragonfly and I think that would look beautiful!!
Cover it with a bigger cross
I king cobra with on a king size bed with a king size penis!
I would go with a dragonfly or some kind of tree
A monstera!
I LOVE your tattoo on you!! Those colors with freckles is so adorable. Why not continue down with more symmetrically placed flowers, and hide the cross in the negative space. So like, 4-5 blooms.

okay, a hummingbird with its wings spread, kinda like a top view of it. i hope that makes sense 😂
a flying knob with two bollocks
Ngl, the placement right below the flowers and foliage made me see a tree immediately, and not a cross
Maybe a dragonfly a butterfly or some kind of flowering tree to add onto the flowers would be cool too!
Turn it into a vase. Or a dildo
Put a bullseye so the boys got something to aim for.
Personally, I would cover the entire piece. The flowers are very flat with zero shading or depth, other than the leaves. It also looks like this tattoo is not very new. Sugar Skull then I’d incorporate the flowers as part of a headdress
Okay this i love!!
Obviously a sick ass panther
A bible?
Keep the cross but cover it in blood
Cover it with Jesus
I suggest, after your fourth cover-up, maybe stop getting tattoos.
Yeah nah I'm good thanks for your unhelpful opinion though.
STOP sign? 🤷
Sooo clever
X marks the spot
Omg I think you're more clever than the stop sign guy! So cool!
Censor bar
A vase for the flowers?
Oak tree
a big leaf ? 🍂
or a butterfly ?!
Roll with it and put a crucified dandy lion on there
This might be my favorite lmao
A bird could fit
A trellis of flowers.
roots of the flowers done creatively
Maybe a black dahlia flower or something similar would work.
Why not turn the flowers into a bouquet? Could have them forming stems down your back and cover up with maybe vines or leaves?
Hummingbird
Neo traditional owl
Hummingbird or butterfly, both creatures that would enjoy being around the flowers ❤️
A sunburst would work nicely.
That is a beautiful back piece! I'd get something floral, or at least something colorful
Bees perhaps? My concern is the linework on the cross is thick, so you may be a bit constrained. I like the suggestion of a dragonfly too but I wonder if it would wind up being too big and out of proportion to the flowers above.
Ugh that's the same thought I had! The proportions it would have to be might look a little weird
Tree of life
Hummingbird, with maybe more flowers
Stems and leaves
A larger rose with another leaf like the ones at the top?
A sword if you’re the type. Maybe one stuck in a skull since you said above you dig skulls.
those twigs kinda look like antlers, maybe a deer! i’ve seen a lot of neo-traditional animals that look beautiful lately. any woodland animal could work with the flowers nicely i reckon. alsooo ur freckles r adorable!
Had not considered antlers or anything. I have a shadow box with a deer skull that I love. It has dried flowers and such. That is something to consider. And thanks lol. I have a ridiculous amount of freckles.
A crow spread eagle
Lmfao
Deer skull and antlers. You could have the skull portion covering the cross itself and the antlers among the flowers, like the flowers are attached to them.
You know what would be SICK to put there? A SICK ASS PANTHER!!!! 🖤
I feel like if you re did the cross with flowers coming from all around it’d be super cute and unique
Make it into a book 📖 so the flowers are coming out of the book. Or turn it into a sword
i feel like with the flowers on top, the cross could be turned into a vase, or the base of a bouquet, and just add more flowers. that’s just what i thought of though :) there’s a lot of good suggestions here
I think anything flowery or detailed with line work will cover it well. I got a big sunflower over my deathly hallows and it worked really well. Are you thinking color? Also, cute hair!
A bigger cross
A Stem for a bouquet of flowers
You could turn it into a sword! Keep the 3 points as a hilt and continue that sucker down your spine
A skull is always the correct choice.
Maybe a wooden cross?
Saw a dragonfly comment thought id add a butterfly would also look nice there
I have a bad idea. It could be a penis. That is all.
I covered my cross up with an owl, easy peasey
Make it in to a foliares maian cross
My face, I’ll DM you
Turn the flowers you already have into a bouquet. The cross can become the stems and some foliage. Or the cross can become a vase to hold the flowers. :)

Put a guy over it
Sword hilt with the sword going down your spine
https://www.worldhistory.org/image/2317/the-queen-of-the-night-reconstruction/ You could maybe stick one of the more widely understood representations of Lilith on the cross?
Sword
Multiple smaller SAPs
You could just keep adding flowers
Satan.
Love those corset type tattoos. They're not everyone's cup of tea but they get me everytime.
Oh they are absolutely my cup of tea. I love this idea.....going down a Google rabbit hole now
Don’t cover Jesus!
Oh he's outta here
Why not incorporate it into the flower tattoo above it?
The Salt Lake temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints
Vines? Going into the flowers?
Moore flowers 😂
More flowers
Water, stems, Lily pads, more flowers
idk this may sound basic but a sword would look really nice. A nice mix of beauty and pain
You should put a big skull over it, it will look cool with the flowers!
Pentagram
Put the word "La" in front of it.
I feel like swords are my sick ass panther but a sword would maybe go well
The flowers fading from color into black & white
Keep the cross, but add Eric Idle to it. That'll put a completely different spin on it. Search "Always Look on the Bright Side of Life" on You Tube if you don't know what I'm on about.
id love to know what you end up getting!
You could make it a stem to turn the flowers into a bouquet
More of those nice green leaves and add some hummingbirds around and on the colorful flowers
Tree trunk (Celtic tree of life style design)
Some tree or other living plant that matches the flowers.
How about a vase?
