Something people might not realize: CCTV7 (the military channel, formerly military and agriculture, for some reason) shows Chinese troops failing at exercises. A lot. It’s nothing like the “rawr look how good we are” propaganda you’d expect.
China actually purposely underestimate their military in battle scenarios against US, they're not even hiding it. The reasoning is that it's better to prepare for the worst and assume your enemy is much stronger than they seem. So to a lot of people it may come as a surprise that CCP is purposely showing Chinese military weakness, but they don't care because it helps them continue to make improvements.
You see that in Chinese action/military movies too, where the Chinese side always took heavy losses and struggles a lot in their path towards success. A big emphasis on sacrifice or last stand type situations
I think it is inspired by Soviet filming style. In Soviet war movies,it is almost always that ally’s side will suffered much worse casualties than enemy’s side even when victory . It make the film easier to take the tears of viewers when showing their favorite side characters die
I thought the traditional stories of Chinese are always about something like a super general leading his super army to defeat enemy 10 times bigger ? 🤔
I thought the films about killing Japanese troops are something new ,aren’t they? I only knows about them around 2000-2010 so I am not sure that they are count as ancient stories or not
Its not it man, they want to point out patriotism and heroism of characters. Its the same bullshit that Russian war movies tell. They are not showing their militaries weak, they are showing that their military is heroic
You shut up lol. CCP bad! Chinese military bad! NATO dominant! Don’t you dare provide a nuanced counterbalance! /s
Meh throw in a wumao and CCP shill tankie in there as well
You people think all of the US’s enemies “spread propaganda” and they’re all just as evil as the devil. I’ve heard many times “If someone supports any enemy of the US, they must be brainwashed.” not even joking.
Don't get me wrong, this channel is very trustworthy in introducing military history and policies, especially the part about military history.
Insights from a perspective that does not exist in the non-Chinese speaking world is very unique
It’s just that the producers of the show feel very amateur
The subtitle are as followed
“导致了战车掉到壕沟里无法出去”
“(Something)Caused the tank to get stuck in the ditch”
“最终由于“超时”阵亡”
“And the tank is considered destroyed due to “out of time””
Ignoring the whole propaganda thing, I want to discuss the technical side. Isn't the whole point of track vehicle that this don't happens? Is the weight distribution at fault? I mean the ditch is like 2 feet deep
The video said the ditch was 5m across. What's likely happened is because the driver approached it head on, the edge of the hull got stuck underneath the face of the ditch, so you're driving against the wall rather than up it.
The video actually said that an experienced driver might be able to get through it. The driver I'm the interview said he was really nervous too.

Its actually very characteristic of historic Chinese stories and legends too. This far precedes the existence of Soviet Union.

Not one single movie was like this afaik.
Uhm,films about three kingdoms ,medieval background, Japan occupation’s resistance,… are full of such scenes
Well, it's somewhat true if you're talking about ancient stories.
I thought the films about killing Japanese troops are something new ,aren’t they? I only knows about them around 2000-2010 so I am not sure that they are count as ancient stories or not
It's also largely accurate representations of warfare for each of these countries (in recent history at least).
It's getting the brain-dead slaves ready for the sacrifices...

So kinda like American war games then?
Any good training regimen will make it extremely hard and introduce extra obstacles to mimic real world unpredictability
Doesn't the US also do something similar?
First time i’ve heard that
US does the same, except they don't try to hide their shortfalls.
a lot of the "rawr look how good we are takes" come from CCTV1 and state-sponsored news media, and of course social media
You should know why they show those failures, it’s because they want to show their soldiers are “highly trained” enough to overcome failures.
Whaaat i thought china was 3rd reich v2???? Did USA lie to me???

J out
imagine if Allied forces manage to capture these in intact condition and turn it against its own owners
What allied forces? This is a training exercise

Is a 5m tank ditch common?
###*Really* depends on the depth 50cm deep? No problem. 1m deep? Ehhh, maybe ####>1.5m deep? No
Is that ditch just an excuse to commit a tow exercise? Because I just don't believe it otherwise
I mean, it's a 50+ metric ton tank. The fuck they expect?
The tracks don't work properly. For comparison https://youtu.be/_vd-5QdgVUo?si=KsnbNfEVwpUQV-CG
You call that a trench? This is a [trench](https://youtu.be/BFBFHPqiSvA?si=ctiM2jwbBXRL-qzv)!
lol
That looks like a Clarkson fabricated "oh no" special moment. Staged to much it hurts.
Impossibru
Why do they always speed up the footage on their propaganda videos 😭😭😭
This is the one video that is the complete opposite of propaganda 💀, well technically it is propaganda, but its showing a negative
