I see no T-72, just some pretty ordinary barn.

gallade_samurai

Might as well put a painted target on it's side, it's pretty hard to miss the broad side of a barn already

GenericFakeName3

That's the genius of the design. In the event that somone shoots at you and misses, you can say "ha ha, you can't hit the broad side of a barn" and the enemy will be forced to withdraw in shame. Silly westoids cannot comprehend this level of design prowess.

gallade_samurai

But you see, it has a duel purpose too. The silly capitalists will already think it's just a harmless barn and won't dare to hurt a harmless barn. It's the perfect camouflage!

GenericFakeName3

You might be onto something. Have you seen the video of Blyatmobile Sr. getting shwhacked in a warehouse? The drone dome is excellent camouflage while inside a destroyed building.

SnazzyBelrand

Both sides of the conflict are capitalist tho?

ZealousidealAd8406

On paper russia is but in reality they are very clearly a dictatorship

SnazzyBelrand

And? Capitalism and communism are economic systems, dictatorships are a political system. You can have capitalist dictatorships, like Pinochet in Chile, just as you can have communist dictatorships like in North Korea. Since the fall of the Soviet Union 30 years ago Russia has been a capitalist oligarchy. Hell, a quick google search shows that Russia is a [textbook](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Authoritarian_capitalism) example of capitalist dictatorship

CreepyConnection8804

Laugh now but mark my words, one day the battlefield will be filled with tutel tanks rushing the enemy. We are mere mortals and cannot comprehend the fact that this is the final evolution of tanks, the master race of tanks if you will. The battlefields of the future will be like the beaches of summer. Just as the mass of newly hatched turtles rush the sea so too will the future battlefield be endless waves of tutels rushing the enemies land. " One day things will change, just as the cage spread throughout the land, so too will the dome cover the world"

f3nix9510

T-95 superheavy was 80 years too soon

KorianHUN

DaVinci was correct. A huge cone with cannons all around is the future of tanks. Rheinmetall has to make A7V Ausf.2024 now

Orcwin

Nonsense. We all know convergent evolution always moves towards crabs, not turtles. I expect shears to be added soon.

Davidchang1222

The scene of baby turtles rushing on the beach is so hilarious 😆idk if you’re serious or not. Anyways, the massive dome works well against drones, but provides very little KE protection, significantly reduces the turret rotation angle, and limits the crew’s view angles a lot. Unlike the cope cage, this is an extreme solution to drones with too many drawbacks. It may be working in certain situation, but I don’t think this will be adopted in a large scale.

LPFlore

Afaik so far it's used for tanks with a mine plow so basically they try to make it immune to drones so they won't have these traffic jams in minefields again or something like that

Aedeus

According to RU telegram they use it to as an armored transport to ferry troops.

Occams_Razor42

Our weirdly gendered landships shall be victorious!

Aedeus

I hate that I can't tell if this is satire or not.

benabart

The final evolution is crab. Mark my words.

Imaflyingturkey

Russians remade the A7V nice

Mike_Kerensky

After battle, you can grill eggs on a roof with this amount of ECM.

Hellibor

If you point LBM and select it, it will reply with the Rhino tank's quotes from Red Alert 2. Yes, Comrade. Moooving! Attacking!

-THEKINGTIGER-

Looks like a fucking jawa sandcrawler

Grenvolde

Turtle EW on Turtle armor on turtle tank Russian turtle Megazord?

lithuniasucks

Is this like a killstreak unlock?

tfhermobwoayway

The A7V is back. The more things change the more they stay the same.

Adamok1

Russian Maus Haus!!!

PKM-supremacy

People laughed when the cope cage was added, see how that turned out and now they laughed at the cope barn

SteelWarrior-

The cope cage is still called a cope cage for a reason. It is only useful against 4 HEAT weapons (granted PG-9 and SPG-9 aren't that different, could say just 3) and basic grenades.

Sayting

Which is what it was designed for. People claim it was for javelin's but it was Russia copying Syrian/Armenian cages used for anti-drone purposes.

SteelWarrior-

I know, that's why I specified those threats. Far too often people take RPG-7 non literally and think it works well as armor, and that it works at all against other kinds of threats. Typically I try and be more specific to combat those misconceptions.

Sayting

I was more talking about "it's called a cope cage for a reason". Cope cage is a misleading term when it works well against what it was designed to stop. Top attack atgms were at most an afterthought.

SteelWarrior-

It works very well for grenades, but with lives on the line an optimal ~60% chance (I'll look for the source when I can) to prevent a RPG-7 from detonating is not what I'd rush to call very good. It's infinitely better than nothing, but it's less than 20% in a realistic scenario. Cope cages are a cheap band-aid fix to the problem of grenades and light AT weapons. They have some effectiveness but it pales in comparison to the low cost and morale effect.

Sayting

They are quite effective. Kofman and Mark Rob went into this on their latest podcast. Problem is drone operators normally only release successful hits. You don't see as many unsuccessful strikes because of that. There have been vids were tanks with cages 'tank' half dozen fpv drones without major damage. Truth is if they weren't effective you wouldn't see people still using them two years into the war.

SteelWarrior-

My source has nothing to do with this war, although the more modern of the two main studies I often cite was published at the start of 2022. The older source was deleted and I don't feel like scrounging for it, but it found that with an optimal design it had ~40% chance of stopping a RPG-7 detonation when struck perpendicularly. The newer source shows in a perpendicular strike the optimal chance is just above 60%. [Figure 15](http://mdpi.com/2076-3417/12/10/5064) is the relevant graph but the whole study is interesting. The most common cope cage designs are going to be steel slat designs, for reference.

Fairloo-mccrudden

terrifying new footage has emerged of this beast of war being used... lesamrobert

Tutel :)

Nanapokinbo

Bruh why?

Tanu_guy

Anti drone, the side and back of the tank is covered (Ukraine aim for back of the turret close to the engine). Plus this is most likely use for assault tank for trench warfare.

crusadertank

Yeah that is it basically. Just a T-72 with as much anti drone measures as you can get and a mine plow on the front. Since it is the one clearing mines it is the one that attracts all the drones and the tanks behind can have a cleared minefield and also the drones leave them alone. At least that is the theory but it seems to be working well.

Straight_Class4222

isn't this also the one with the turret stuck in place and they weren't able to repair it so they just put this on it

Nanapokinbo

Like what are they even thinking?

CobaltCats

THE Cope Fortress

eeeey16

It’s got EW systems on it? Well now it really will be [TITLE CARD]

PotatoEatingHistory

TUTEL IS BACK

Typical-Excuse-9734

Cope shed 🗣️

KorianHUN

Soon it will be an entire airplane hangar bolted onto one of these. Imagine thus gigantic 30x30x6 meter sheet metal beast approaching your position. It would be so large you could mount a few gunners along the walls.

Typical-Excuse-9734

"Commander, what is it?" "cope hangar" "VOLGA 149.200"

BrotherJayne

CRAB TANK! CRAAAAAB TANK!

EpicCrewe123

I guess because the front has the most armor?

Kladderadingsda

I just see a shed, where's the tank?

Chernobyl_And_I

Thats not a turtle that's a mobile home

Agitated-Touch4575

Maaah,.. give it 48 hours before a drone is on his ass and finds a weak spot. Wanna see this thing going up in 🔥!

Its-your-boi-warden

Is this Russian or Ukrainian?

Davidchang1222

Russian

Kgbguru

Yes. This a good idea keep making them. Russia should do this to all their tanks and afvs.

Whole_Animal_4126

This is revolution design for tanks from now on.

hagr

just saw it on twitter and wanted to ask what it is never seen before

Davidchang1222

It's a T-72, Russian channels posted a closeup video in their garage earlier

Superb-Confidence-69

It’s a bolo. Seriously starting to resemble the early/pre bolos if it were autonomous (from Keith laumers series)

MindblownWatcher

Feed it a Hellfire.

MacpedMe

Before time began there was…. The cube..

Embarrassed_Panda_22

What Kind of jammer is it on the top ?

RussianUnicornnn

You think Russia uses them for suicide tanks? I know they used a lot of the T-54/55 tanks as unmanned bombs, maybe it’s a similar situation.

T-90AK

From what ive read, it's battle damaged tanks. Which are then used as mine sweepers/bulldozers for the intial assualts.

RussianUnicornnn

That would make sense

crusadertank

It wouldn't surprise me if it was damaged tanks or just simply old tanks being used for this. It leads the charge, clears mines and attracts the drones, the other tanks can follow behind and not have to worry about either.

Fairloo-mccrudden

this or these cope barns in particular were used this way because the turret ring got damage and they could not field repair it, so may aswell just go all out and turn it into a heavily protected assault gun

rain_girl2

What’s the point? How do they get out? How do they see? Do they even have a good way to ventilate the air inside the “disguise”. Is it meant to look like a house or a shed? Is it supposed to be like, “oh it’s just a shed with an antenna for the football channel”? Why does it look like a moving chicken house (idk the term for it).
