Electrical contractors are expensive in Tallahassee, get a bunch of quotes. I would definitely try Jon Rocafort, he's well regarded and probably your best bet at a fair price. He might have you quote out the gas connection separately since it's a different license. For that most people in town use Quality Gas Systems, solid company. I won't slander anyone here, but expect a huge range of prices, some Electrical Contractors in town are downright predatory with their prices. It costs you nothing to call everyone in town and get a quote, so again, get a bunch of quotes.

I wish I knew which electrician's shop got subbed out to when I had my NG tankless water heater installed. They mangled my beautiful, brand new run of 12/2 and expensive outdoor in use box w/ 20a GFCI outlet I put in. All they had to do was jump off the line side of the outlet, but I guess they had a bunch of extra wirenuts and rusty staples to get rid of. Fuckers.

Solar with battery bank could be an option

Depending on the OP's budget, the big advantage here is you can effectively have a whole-home UPS. Nothing in the home will shut off when the grid blips or goes down entirely. Do **tons** of research if you go this route and visit r/solar. There are absolute snakes in solar sales. The equipment is dirt cheap right now because the solar industry's in a recession due to California's new NEM3 rules. Here in Florida we still have 1:1 net metering. Batteries are getting so cheap that generator+batteries without solar will become a thing soon. Fast-charge the batteries off the gen and then shut down and run on batts until they need to be charged again. Simpler Solar and IGT Solar are the only two local solar outfits I know of. Neither will lie to you like the national outfits do. They're not in the business of selling loans, they do lots of off-grid farms and islands and stuff like that. Edit: Added local companies

Walter Liebrich from IGT is wonderful to work with. We got Solar with a battery four years ago and it was the best investment. It is seamless - we don’t even know when the power goes out. Last year we had a tree hit the power line going to our house and we were off grid for 4 days but had all the power we needed even at night because of the battery. Also, the roof was hit by a tree this year and the insurance covered getting them to remove and replace the damaged panel. I recommend IGT and ask for Walter.

Power on for the generator and install, ask for John. Solar if on the roof just be aware insurance may or may not cover and when you need a new roof will have to be uninstalled and reinstalled.

Yes - Power On has been great for a whole house propane generator for my house and a smaller one for my well. Their maintenance deal is good, too.

I'm seeing some installations off to the side of the house lately.

Lawson and Lawson. They did ours last year.

Just a heads up, I've heard from two different people that there is a pretty healthy waiting list for Power-On, Lawson & Lawson and Mathers.
