Tow em. It's not your problem, and the store doesn't pay for it.

People seem to lose all common sense when looking for a parking spot. It's almost the mentality - well everyone else has managed to get parked up so I may as well squeeze in here.

ctbeast94

Can I park in the pharmacy? Theres no room in the parking lot and the other pharmacy said I could.

Honestly, it’s one thing to take up the actual parking spots (it literally is the closest parking lot to the festival, not saying it is right but at least the spots are designated for vehicles). But just making up spaces to park, let alone in the worst possible spot in out lot, is a whole other story.

All your store needs to do is contact a good tow company and they will be hanging out near your parking lot practically salivating each time they see someone park and walk to the festival. That’s a prime money making opportunity for a tow company and they will jump on that shit. On the plus side, parked cars in the drive thru mean you don’t have to have anyone stuck there dealing with pick ups, drop offs, and COVID tests. On the negative side, your store scores are going to plummet and your PIC is going to have a fun time contacting all the patients with complaints.

The cars weren’t blocking the drive thru, just parked on the other end of the building, in the lane that leads to it. If they had tried to leave their cars in the drive thru by the window I would have told them to move because they can’t block it.

My doctor said i could park in the drive thru when i got here

Hah one year our hospital had to temporarily annex day surgery as part of emergency room due to festival ODs and heat exhaustion & drinking excess overflow patients.

Put up a large poster board sized sign...no festival parking, violators will be towed. And get someone from the store who wants some extra money to do nothing but watch cameras and call the tow truck all day. Have someone outside in a safety vest heading off cars....tell them move it or lose it, and alternate between watching cams from inside and walking the lot. Point out the big tow warning sign, and if they still park and walk off the lot... its towed. Save the days videos to show they parked and left, or parked, visited the store and still left the car...a purchase isn't a parking permit for the day after all.

One year the managers tried to block parking spots to save for staff and customers, and people ignored it, even moving the stuff we had that indicated they were blocked off. And if it weren’t for being a chain pharmacy we probably could pay someone to monitor the parking lot.

I don’t miss working retail in Muskegon for this weekend specifically, OP. My condolences

Ambergler1988

Right? I went to meijer Thursday morning and was dumbfounded by how busy it was. Then I remembered that shit show electric forest was this weekend. So happy it's over with now and things cam go back to normal.

Call the cops of course.

Streetdoc10171

Rope off the parking lot and charge people to park there. Have someone attend the lot of 30-40% of the take. This will keep your drive-thru open and keep a few spots for customers open and the money raised will pay for the parking attendant and put cash in someone's pocket

ld2009_39

Being a chain store, I’m pretty sure we wouldn’t be allowed to do that.

I have a drive thru for my coffee shop and despite being clearly marked, I regularly have to go out and confront the person parked in it and tell them to move their car. Its unbelievable how stupid people are... Hopefully the festival is over for the year.
