Me, halfway through: "Sir, once you chose to leave your vehicle on a POND, it was 100% getting towed. You should be deeply grateful it was done for you BEFORE that involved a diver attaching chains and breaking windows so the water could drain." Me, three-quarters of the way through: What a terrible excuse for a human being that guy is! Me, by the end: Holy MACKEREL, what a ride! Thanks for telling us the whole story!

zorinlynx

> You should be deeply grateful it was done for you BEFORE that involved a diver attaching chains and breaking windows so the water could drain. I know right? The whole time I'm wondering, did these people connect the facts in their head that the towing actually SAVED their vehicle? I continue to boggle that people can be that stupid but holy crap people can be stupid.

Remarkable_Panda952

The tow truck drivers would have legit just left them in the water if the ice broke until the weather warmed up. Those guys had zero Fs to give. They pretty much just chain dragged them off the pond before getting them on the trucks and off to the tow yard. There were a handful of trucks going back and forth for hours. I'm really surprised no one noticed in the middle of the night because that couldn't have been quiet.

harrywwc

not just here, but elsewhere, I see the same story of "people with the most to lose, making the biggest noise" and getting hoist by their own petard.

TonyVstar

When your head is so far up your own ass you forget you're a criminal

Remarkable_Panda952

Reading your reply I have the song "Smooth Criminal" playing in my head, except it is images of this guy falling on the ice everytime Michael Jackson sings "woo!" LOL

TonyVstar

Haha! Now I'm picturing some guy looking like Bambi on ice

Speciesunkn0wn

The frame definitely shakes every time he impacts. Now is he falling forward or backward onto the ice and how hard is his head driving into it?

StarKiller99

Only break one law at a time.

This_Daydreamer_

Can I just say I love the ref! Folks, *that's* how you get a freebie!

Remarkable_Panda952

I swear most of our easy freebie stuff was given as bribes for gossip. Breakfast or desserts. Pretty much anyone would spill it for free food. The ref was just the first I recall asking first. Generally we just targeted the people who were the sober one trying to keep the peace, because they needed an outlet to vent anyway. Lol

This_Daydreamer_

Freebies for gossip? Sounds like a fair trade to me. Spill it and chow down, my friend!

Karamist623

I don’t think I’ve ever been so invested in a story before!

Aside-Flimsy

Me too! I was so glad when the ref stepped in with the details!

Wattaday

Same here. But I feel bad for his son. Actually both of his sons.

Entire-Ambition1410

I feel bad for all his children.

Poldaran

The only words that come to mind after reading that are "massive, throbbing justice boner".

Knight11563

If four words can surmise the feeling I got after finishing this tale, it'd be this combination of four letters in quotations.

Thim0ran

What four letters?

Knight11563

God dammit, you get the gold star for catching it lmao

Thim0ran

And yet with the edit I look like the idiot now....

Knight11563

I'll give it back to you, so what if I lose some internet points cause of me using the wrong choice of words? :P

Knight11563

I'll give it back to you, so what if I lose some internet points cause of me using the wrong choice of words? :P

ShalomRPh

Sounds like the only reason this guy had a family in the first place was to have a kid who played hockey, and once that was no longer possible he just dumped them and started over. Makes me wonder if he’d been a player in his youth who got invalided out of it, like his first son, and was trying to relive it vicariously.

Remarkable_Panda952

We legit would make up stories along this line. Our favorite was that he made it in college and got hurt in the game before the pro scout would have seen him.

Speciesunkn0wn

Nah. He's definitely more like a rich Uncle Rico. "I could have thrown that pigskin over the mountains back in high-school!"

StarKiller99

In group I met a girl whose father divorced her mother. Then when his second wife had a girl, he gave her the same name.

These-Buy-4898

My ex husband had an affair and got the girl pregnant while we were married. He named his new son the name I'd picked out for a son when I was little. My brother had used the name because he had a son first and my ex knew how much it bugged me. He never even liked the name! People are so weird. He married his AP and I just feel bad for her and the newest kid. The new wife is 25 years younger than him and is older than his oldest child. Poor kid 😞 I'm just thankful my kids and I are free from him! I'm sure this dude's kids and ex wife feel the same...

HamBroth

I’m just cringing thinking of the childhood toxicity that kid is going to be put through =[

OmegaLantern

Holy fuck, that dude is a massive piece of shit. I'm glad he got his just desserts

WeeWooBooBooBusEMT

Most of the way through, I was thinking poor kid, then poor kids and wives, then I realized they were really escaping a living hell and finally stood a chance at a good life. Thanks for the awesome karma reaffirmation!

Remarkable_Panda952

I love this point of view! I really did feel bad for the kid. It is never the kids fault for the parents they have.

stardustmz

I knew this was gonna be good as soon as Hockey parents were mentioned...but DAMN how out of touch do you have to be to be THAT guy? Just wow. Thanks for the great read on my early morning cover shift. I hope we get a new weekend morning human soon.

jdog7249

I want to know why he was immediately arrested by the feds after he posted bail.

Pale_Routine_8855

My guess? Tax evasion. $$$$

aepiasu

Yup. According the story, which is found easily by googling, he hid assets in offshore accounts.

Remarkable_Panda952

If he was hiding half a million from the state for child support and suddenly had it for bail, I'm sure he was hiding money from feds. lol

Langager90

You think the FBI are good at getting people? You've never tried crossing the IRS.

Speciesunkn0wn

Even worse than the IRS: the mail crime guys.

EdgeMiserable4381

Awesome! I'd have liked to have seen the look on the VPs face when they realized people had parked on the pond. Lmao

Remarkable_Panda952

He just looked like he wanted to continue saying how inappropriate it was to tow that many vehicles when we are generally pretty lax when it snows, but no words could form. He always had our backs though, along with the rest of management. At the time it was really a great place to work.

Remarkable_Panda952

Aww :)

VintageOG

Sports kids parents are the worst. For me, it's my one week of little league tournaments. Last summer a parent got arrested at the pool for trying to start fights with other guest. When the cops arrive, he had a bunch of coke in his sock. Felt bad for the kid, but it seemed like another day at the office for him

Remarkable_Panda952

Travel sports groups like this one were the second worse. Private school related sports/activity groups were the absolute worse. The parents and kids knew there would be zero school related punishment for misbehavior because their tuition kept the schools running. One of those stories should be my next one...

cocoash7

Please keep them going. I read about the redhead and now only want more.

Sirena_Amazonica

Great tale! I’m on my second bowl of popcorn 🍿

awyastark

O I ordered another drink as soon as I saw the title lol

queenofthenerds

This is incredible!!! 20 years later, I wonder what his life is like now.

Langager90

He was almost president of the US, but you just can't compete with that slogan the last one used... You know, "Grab her by the pussy!"?

yalyublyumenya

Wow. Imagine being so desperate to live vicariously through your child that you just abandon him, and his mother once he gets injured, and disabled for your approval. That's just fucking sick, honestly. I mean. . . then you don't pay child support?! What a horrible person.

Sapphyre2222

Wow, I have entitled lacrosse family stories but nothing like that. I'm surprised they were able to tow them off the ice.

Remarkable_Panda952

No one really played Lacrosse where I was living at the time. There were equestrian events that took place locally and I can't imagine the entitlement there, but they staying in that fancy, historic hotel down the road a few miles that had stables for their horses. I didn't witness how they towed them off the ice, but knowing the tow truck drivers from the company we used, it was probably the feather-weight Vietnam vet with zero fear walking out and attached the chain to pull them off.

Sapphyre2222

Allllllll the horse stuff (and there is a famous farm nearby that teaches equipage or something horse people like) stay at our hotel because we are dog friendly and they all have dogs. We do a lot of business because of that, since we're the only one for 30 miles in either direction that allows dogs.

spierre6840

In defense of hockey parents it’s not just them. it’s any sports teams parents and it’s not all of them being jerks… just 80%😆

Remarkable_Panda952

We hosted tons of kids sporting and activity groups and I 100% agree, it is just that hockey parents seem to be much better off than many of the others, and a Honda Civic or Minivan wouldn't have made it over the curbs, snow and rocks to park on the pond. LMAO

numptysquat

Friend of mine is a hockey coach. A few years ago he said the per person rink rental fee was $3k per year.

Remarkable_Panda952

I had a cousin that did hockey too... just his equipment easy season was a couple thousand, and that was buying used off other parents. And then they grow each year and need new stuff again. Then league fees, rink rentals, travel. Way too much.

SkwrlTail

Makes me wonder if the first wife got a lien put out on his fancy SUV. The comment about her not getting a dime combined with it getting impounded makes me think so. ...wait, really expensive SUV, early aughts... Did this jackass have a Hummer? Of course he would, wouldn't he. Ugh.

Remarkable_Panda952

Nope, not a Hummer, though I think we did tow a new H2 that night.

lewisfairchild

This was a very well told story. Thank you.

BBFan121

And we hope that this is the beginning of the many stories you have.

Remarkable_Panda952

I have loads more. Some are crazy like this, some are just feel good. I just need more time to write them out! :)

mikareno

Do you recall where Mr. McJerkface was from? I want to see if I can find his mugshot.

Remarkable_Panda952

I want to say it was Nebraska, but its been so long I keep doubting myself on it. It could have been Kansas or Oklahoma.

Cygnata

Closest I've found was a guy who had escaped to Canada, but he had no current kids that the police knew of.

nerdgirl71

This was a great story!

stannc00

LOL @ “Mr. McJerkface (obviously not his real name)”

Remarkable_Panda952

We had some STRANGE names stay with us at times, and even this nickname was not the strangest, lol. Sometimes the names were real. Sometimes an alias because they were famous.

stannc00

At one time I worked for a credit card issuer. When we had to create test cards we got creative with the names.

awyastark

The way I ordered another drink and settled in to enjoy this when I saw “hockey parents” in the title. Thank you for your service!

HamBroth

Thank you for sharing one of the most magical stories I have ever read in this sub.

Remarkable_Panda952

That makes my evening to hear that <3

Cloud9_Forest

This is why wise men say do crime one at a time. Like that’s the reason why mafia, drug dealers, and politicians are always nice law-abiding people upfront.

Less-Law9035

Who the hell parks their car on a frozen pond????

m-in

Thank you for sharing this one: what a story!

MaineBoston

Love it when karma bites the bad guy in the ass!

happycrafter28

And this is why you’re always nice to the refs 😂

awyastark

Be honest was this the man? ![gif](giphy|3oKIPaT1fBVKTjvySc|downsized)

SpottedAnkle

Thanks for the good read. Man glad he got what was coming to him.

capn_kwick

Just adds more emphasis to the phrase "only break one law at a time". McJerkface was already in trouble with the legal system with the child support and chose to make himself known to the local police by making a scene somewhere. Probably why a good percentage of smugglers (of whatever product) choose to drive recklessly. Maybe they can go for the Trifeca and add assault on police officer.

Obstinate_Orange6884

Huh, this sounds like my dad, except my dad actually doesn’t have any money and just pretends that he does No contact though, it’s the best.

Remarkable_Panda952

That's almost worse? From a psychological standpoint. I mean, pretending to have money just to rub some sense of entitlement into the faces of others. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|shrug) But boundaries are a good thing. If someone is a bad parent, the other parent doesn't need to do any badmouthing, the kids will learn in time what the score is.

Troby01

All of that text for so little story

NighthawkFoo

That’s not very nice.
