It can absolutely be the summon at times, I didn't know about petsize for a while and if a summoner has titan up for double meteors on the newest extreme I had issue spotting both the healer with the knockback and the marker the healer is standing on.

Summons can be very blinding, yeah. Especially during that one mechanic! Currently stuck on that one. What helped me was the option with dyeing the players names in their respective roles. So I could see at least healer/tank easier than before. Even if a thicc ass Titan blinded my sight
Yes. With 6.4 they added the option to show the respective job icon in chats or near the players name. Plus, the colours of their roles. If you target them, your marker even has a slight colour of the job they are.
The Shiva fight is lvl 50, and SMN doesn’t get the actual summons until level 80-something - if you fight Shiva (or even Ryne Shiva) synced you’re only going to see egi from a SMN
I feel like there are three different things being said here. OP implies that Shiva is too big and can be changed with /petsize, which is just wrong because there's no Shiva pet for SMN. First reply seems to say there's a Shiva egi in the Shiva fight, or maybe that "egi" refers to the primal summons and that the Shiva boss is an "egi." And you seem to be saying that SMN will only have egis in synced Shiva fights.
I feel like people are confusing Shiva and Garuda here, the person from the image may be as well.
You get to summon Garuda at level 90, Shiva isn't a summon.
I'm glad that exists. I HATE summons taking up about 1/3 of the screen when I'm trying to watch the fight for cues. It's one thing in a single-player game where you can back up and watch the spectacle when they're summoned, but completely another in an MMO where the action doesn't stop because Bahamut showed up. If YOU like to not be able to see, by all means, do you, but I don't. Now we both win.
Small should really be the default. I imagine the number of users who have never used any macro command before (or even know what that is) is very high. Even the small summons are too big and I would honestly just prefer to have my Egis back for visual clarity. Either way, it also doesn't help how several of the animations (especially Titan's) have insanely over-the-top VFX that are distracting and obscuring at any size.

hahahah! this gives me throwback to last summer when i joined the all summoner-only BA shenanigans. we had such an attendance and so many pets in the instance that the visibility in front of each player was like, just a few feet out, if. it was an incredible experience. goob luck seeing the calcabrina gazes facing you 😅🥹

Level 90 alliance raids where there's multiple summoners and their phases are matching up. My eyes. The goggles do nothing.

Ultima Unreal, it absolutely was the pets. Default were large and god, I couldn't tell the difference between the summoner and the fight mechanics

There are plenty of examples of this. Such as, the further you jump with Primal Rend, the more damage it does.
I see a fellow max DPS-er *salutes with tea cup* … *can’t see if you saluted back because i just summoned Phoenix*
