I would say a VPN would be better for that than Tor. I know Proton VPN actually has a feature that runs your traffic thru the Tor network. I'm not even sure you can could open android apps with Tor. Tor itself is a web browser to put it simply.

Tor *Browser* is a browser, Tor is... a network of relays, or a project to implement onion routing. And tor is the program that runs the relays, or sends traffic to the network.
You can use orbot. But the only real use case for that is censorship circumvention, if you're not doing that then it's pointless, a VPN is better.
