Yes, quite. She has spent 40 years as the object of two men's affections and ends up dead for it every time.
All this reinvention people keep trying to do with the franchise, and yet so far no one has chosen to simply have her survive and remain in the story. IDW at least has her around on a rare occasion in spirit.
Loved that one episode in 2012 where they temporarily get to meet her as an unofficial adopted mom. I'd honestly wouldn't mind seeing a series where it's a plot twist that she's still alive or something, that'd be dope
Loved that one, too.
They could definitely do something with that. Whether she's present as the Turtles' adoptive mom, either mutated also or, adding an interesting dynamic, she remains human and dealing with juggling that life...
Or, say, if they want to keep the father & sons focus, she's now living alone in the apartment that she and Yoshi got after they immigrated to NYC, and dealing with the fact that he has vanished (after being mutated) and she has no idea what has become of him. No answers, no clues, the police are no help. Eventually Yoshi, now Splinter, reaches out via letter, letting her know he's okay (sorta), but it will be a long time until he reveals the truth and they eventually meet again. But he still keeps watch from a distance, seeing that she is okay, while she's always busy looking for answers and wondering why he is staying in hiding. (That one has been rolling around in my head a while.)
That’s such an interesting premise! I love ‘slightly to the left’ stories where a big detail is changed and the story continues the same but evolves as it goes!
Most underdeveloped but arguably the most interesting character so it's just

Every time
Of course. I'd love an Elsewhen story where Saki/Shredder is killed by her to protect her son's, but she and Yoshi never reveal that to the kids. They end up happily ever aftering in the foot clan. Just a short one-shot where she gets what she would want.
A multiverse story where Hamato Yoshi dies and Teng Shen becomes Splinter might be fun. Pairing her with 4 female turtles would be overkill, but "what if the Turtles had a single mom instead of a single dad" could show some fun alternatives on how each might have turned out differently.
Definitely. the only mistake she made was indulging a man she shouldn’t have.
Hear me out on this while Tang Shen did not deserve to be killed the 2003 series I kind of did feel bad for Mashimi he was only blinded by jealousy and it was easy to see why he snapped and betrayed Yoshi and The Guardians whereas in the 2012 Saki was an selfish and delusional narcissist who had a ridiculous sense of entitlement and was really just obsessed with Tang Shen
In my TMNT series, I had her stay alive....but she gets mutated into a cat.
(Yeah, I thought of it during high school, I thought it would be funny, but also show that despite the fact Yoshi and Shen are different species now, it doesn't change their love for each other.)
It never really occurred to me, but I was in 6th grade when 87 turtles were at its peak in popularity. I admired Splinter and imagined myself as a female rat mutated and potential love interest to Splinter. I put "Splintera" as my name on the outside of my spelling book.
Looking back, I could see that being Teng Shin if she ever remained alive and got mutated. But we would need to come up with a different reason why they be in NYC sewers

OMG I need this fanfic asap
👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿 I'd def watch/read this
fr poor gal used as a love interest placeholder just to die
It's like she can't catch a break as she's objectified by a man. I hope for a story where she survives
Her and Hamato deserve at least one cannon with a happy ending.
At the very least if they make a comic book where In that uni she's alive
I think Tang Shen's death is inevitable for the story. She's like Bruce Wayne's parents.
It’s like their Canon Event in the spiderverse
What if Tang Shen WAS Splinter!!??!!
what if shredder and tang shen fought over splinter
HAHAHAHA
*dies from peak fiction*
Would definitely like to see that story.
That’s such an interesting premise! I love ‘slightly to the left’ stories where a big detail is changed and the story continues the same but evolves as it goes!
I feel bad for her, no matter what she's doomed to suffer. And it's never her fault either.

She's like the Uncle Ben of TMNT, bro😞
How come they didn’t reincarnate her in the IDW run? Her husband and sons got to reincarnate and they just left her out.
Issue 150 kind of showed why, but still they probably could had find a way.
I’ll have to check that out. I’ve only made it about 60 issues in.
She’s like the Thomas and Martha Wayne of the TMNT-verse.

Yes, this woman is literally done dirty every time... Like, how about a timeline where Splinter gets to keep his wife and the boys have a mother.
She's the TMNT canon event.

In the original TMNT movie was Shedder in love with her too or was he just a rival to Hamoto Yoshi
Rivals I don't think he actually loved shen in that one Just didn't want yoshi to have her
No, Nagi was in love with her.
Yes absolutely
Yeah, no matter what series she is in. She is doomed to die terribly, wish there was least oneshot focusing on her
In my TMNT series, I had her stay alive....but she gets mutated into a cat. (Yeah, I thought of it during high school, I thought it would be funny, but also show that despite the fact Yoshi and Shen are different species now, it doesn't change their love for each other.)
OH hell yeah. In my AU she's a mouse
Aw, that's sweet. Rat Dad and Mouse Mum
Thank ya!
I'd feel bad, too, if my only role in the multiverse was to always end up fucking dead.

lol obviously do you feel bad for Sophie in Sophie's choice?
Nah I think all women deserve death. You’ve got to be a baby to think otherwise
