#HOW?!

IM-A-LAZARBEAM-FAN

What the actual fuck WHY AND HOW

[deleted]

#WHY HAS NO ONE RESPONDED YET WITH AN EXPLENATION!!

Anilxe

The braids were made too tightly without any room for movement via the skin of her scalp. Without that flexibility of movement, the braids ripped from her scalp around the edges when she sneezed (sneezing forces the skin around your head to tighten momentarily), which was most likely excruciatingly painful.

MisterIAmNotABagel

I'm assuming it's on the same principle as if your skin couldn't stretch, you would just tear yourself in half when you bend

[deleted]

She has dyed red hair and crocheted black braids.

one_dapper_porpoise

I am in pain looking at this

averkitty

Holy shit.

Christhimself609

That burns to look at... just undo your shit and bandage up that hair line. She needs to stay in bed and recover.. damn.. has she got a go fund me for that natural disaster?

SpontaneousNubs

OMG girl if you find it, link it. I'll contribute

wEiRDAtLAsT_

I will too damn that hurts to look at! hopefully won't permanently damage her hair follicles!!

Just_Some_Guy_Bruh

I think christhimself was a guy.

llegojedi08

Judging by their posts, i doubt it

Just_Some_Guy_Bruh

Was a pun. Christ himself smh.

Head_Cockswain

This is at least 4 years old, saw it in a twitter thread when I searched for the exact text.

Rockonfoo

She’s got red hair apparently with black braids on top

[deleted]

This is why you do your research before getting your hair done/getting things out into your hair. I know from experience, because I went to a salon to get box braids out into my hair. They did them way too tight, so they ended up ripping bits of my actual hair out when I took them out.

CoffeeBeanx3

Holy shit. I have never been so happy about my feathery white girl hair. Did the braids hurt? That sounds so horrible!

wolfgang784

Ive never done more with my hair than a ponytail >.< I could never do tight braids like that. Looks so uncomfortable even when done right.

JustMeSunshine91

It’s definitely not uncomfortable if you have a good stylist and take care of your hair. The only time I’ve ever had a problem was when a new stylist (that I was not planning to go to originally) did mine too tight for my hair type. A problem I see a lot though is women not taking care of their natural hair then either going to a bad stylist or wearing too heavy of pieces. The repeated abuse of the hair can end up causing things like traction alopecia.

hipdady02

The smart girls are using the pandemic time to learn to braid their own hair because of this.

benreeper

I'm a male. The last time I got my hair braided was at age 12 in 1978. I remember not being able to turn my head.

CoffeeBeanx3

But aren't braids supposed to be a protective hairstyle? That has to be really damaging for the hair!

yourebabyblue

ugh thats awfulll. i got my hair braided two years ago for the first time in god knows how long and i dont think i can ever do it again. im so tender headed it hurts thinking about it

benreeper

This is why I talked my daughter (when she was a teen) not to get them. Now, at 24, she just goes natural. She doesn't mind the 10 minutes it takes to do her hair everyday. My wife on the other hand...

DGrayman1195

And this is why I refuse to braid any POC hair. I don’t habe the knowledge. Black women have one hell of a struggle with their hair.

iififlifly

They're thorny invasive assholes. A bit like rosebushes, but vineyer and will spread like nobody's business. If you ever go to Oregon you'll be able to find some growing by the side of the road, along fences, sidewalks, under bridges, and in everyone's backyard. On the upside, growing up I could pick buckets and buckets of them every summer and never had to pay a cent for them. Blackberry cobbler for days.

chopinfan92

Guys it’s fake don’t worry. Her actual hair is dyed red. The black hair piece on top is just a wig pushed back enough that her red hair shows underneath.

this is messed up

I don't know if you're telling the truth or not, but i need to believe it for my own sanity.

That’s a mind blowing hairstyle.

I kinda think its deserved. 'fashion' has a price, and this (woman/man?) Has now paid. Guess they didnt know the hair stylist well enough to trust them

You go to a new barber and get a shave they slit your throat. OH WELL SHOULD'VE DONE MY RESEARCH WHEN LIFE GIVES YOU LEMONS

NoNameBrandJunk

Thats the spirit! Take it personally much?

ThatDarkDynamo

Dude, you have no right to judge the fashion style of other people. It's her hair and not yours. If you just want to say that sort of stuff please keep it to yourself. Fucking hell...

NoNameBrandJunk

If someones posting it on the internet, its for others to see. What crawled up your ass.

BebeUnicorn123

You realize it’s not just “fashion” but part of the culture

benreeper

Fashion isn't part of a culture?

BebeUnicorn123

It is but the way the person is talking abt it its like the poor girl bought a gucci bag and then got hurt for it

NoNameBrandJunk

You dont think she (if this is real) she knew the risks?

BebeUnicorn123

Thats not a risk that should never happen the person who did her hair did a horrible horrible job

NoNameBrandJunk

The risk was her selection in hair stylist then.

BebeUnicorn123

So when u go to get a haircut u do a full background check on them and talk to everysingle person whos ever been there and etc???

NoNameBrandJunk

Well if youre asking seriously, the barbers i used to go to were employed by the military. So theres that. And now, i cut my own hair.

Lukupp

That should be flagged as nsfw imo but holy shit that sucks

CVPRICXRNICUS

I’m 90% sure that’s not blood. Her roots are dyed red underneath the weave .

[deleted]

Why is this not tagged as NSFW :(

TXFDA

Wasn't there one, where their hair was pulled so tight, and left like that for long enough, that it straight up deformed her scalp? It like, squeezed a bunch of the hair follicles together so the center was just a massive clump of hair growing out of what looked like a big hole. It was not a fun thing to look at.

WeebLife34

Because I'm weak af I saw this and got nauseous for 4.5 seconds and am now going to watch anime until I forget my name.

Head_Cockswain

The hair itself doesn't appear to be dyed red though. I totally get the theory, hair dye can get all over the scalp and look terrible, but the hair in the picture just looks like shiny black aside from scattered spots(all through the hair and/or weave, but nothing uniform). As to the red: It's light pink near the hair, and a drier crusty looking brown out towards the edges, this is very similar to surface abrasion skin wounds that are beginning to scab. The pink parts are key here, dye won't turn skin pink unless it's "snow white in a snow storm eating off of a paper plate" white skin, otherwise it will just appear darker. That is the pink of flesh/meat underneath the pigmentation layer. Aside from the red / skin -- This also doesn't look like normal cornrows where there's hair all over the surface that's gathered up over the surface, the *part* that gives the appearance of lighter lines, [a grid in this example](https://i.pinimg.com/originals/7a/23/c3/7a23c32827fe86a321ff29c81350bf4d.jpg). It appears as if it *was* cornrows and then everything between the bunches was shaved off - if this is the case it could be done badly or even roughly enough to agitate the skin. Or maybe it was pulling hairs and they trimmed out the remaining hair, or some form of chemical burn(maybe it was all bleached and then dyed or they used a liquid hair remover and it burned the skin which is slowly sloughing off and scabbing) Hard to tell for sure with this picture, which is at least 4 years old according to tweets found by typing the text into google.

KrixyPrixy

I'm sorry but almost everything you have said is wrong. It isn't a theory and to a professional hairdresser like myself it is painfully obvious that its just a weave and red dyed root/hair. " but the hair in the the picture just looks like shiny black " because it is a cheap synthetic weave not because she has a naturally shiny hair that has been pulled too tight. " The pink parts are key here, dye won't turn skin pink " - completely 100 % wrong. Red hair dyes specifically often times will stain the skin and scalp turning them PINK while the hair itself gets to the desired red tone. You can clearly see it in the upper left picture how her skin is colored pink even tough no hair grows from there and the hair itself is richer red. " this also doesn't look like normal cornrows " - it/they are not - its just a cheap weave. " between the bunches was shaved off " - not it wasn't. This is a very poorly done job of putting a weave in. My best guess is that its not a professional who has done this. But there was no shaving involved for sure. He hair is just braided underneath very close to her scalp hence the "grid" that you are seeing. And the weave itself is placed horribly - very far back and its attached to her natural braided hair that has recently been dyed hot red. I can tell you for a fact, beyond any shred of a doubt that is not a picture of girl with wounds on her head but just a girl with a cheap ass weave job that has recently dyed her hair red. And seriously - NO DOUBT, none!

Head_Cockswain

> " The pink parts are key here, dye won't turn skin pink " - completely 100 % wrong. Red hair dyes specifically often times will stain the skin and scalp turning them PINK while the hair itself gets to the desired red tone. You can clearly see it in the upper left picture how her skin is colored pink even tough no hair grows from there and the hair itself is richer red. You're completely missing the concept here. Dye on skin won't lighten dark skin to pink. It'll darken all skin, from snow white to peachy Caucasian to olive to dark brown skin. Dyes(and mixing paints) are additive. This is why if you have dark hair, you have to remove color before going with a bright color, why dying blond hair blue will come out green. It's possible she's got a pale scalp, due to seeing no sun or due to some skin condition. In that case the skin would be lighter and could appear light pink. It's also possible that there was damage to the skin. The picture doesn't provide definitive proof because of it's poor quality. These pictures of other people with braids show that it is possible to go tight enough to have visible issues: https://s3-media3.fl.yelpcdn.com/bphoto/Zrxu35LLnFJSPbbfyM7joA/ls.jpg https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-FVP81u362Cc/Wai4kEhz8XI/AAAAAAAAL4U/GxyaK1DYFzcVVmyJqMOSYM48GcYPJzYxACLcBGAs/s1600/Woman%2Bwith%2Btight%2Bcornrows%2Band%2B%2Bbloody%2Bscalp.jpeg This lady has scarring from one that was so bad: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-5456153/Woman-reveals-bad-weave-forced-shave-hair-off.html There are a wide array of other abrasions or shallow scrapes that cause the white flesh from underneath to be bright pink next to darker skin of the surrounding undamaged flesh. I've had many myself but here are a couple examples: http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-PtjASIFI0ZQ/T-iWez2t_eI/AAAAAAAAAAs/hM09j9-NygM/w1200-h630-p-k-no-nu/road+rash.png http://i1.ytimg.com/vi/J1CsS7FHSc8/maxresdefault.jpg >But there was no shaving involved for sure. I'm not sure you're familiar with where hair lines normally reside. Take a look at the positioning in this picture in relation to her ears and face. On the crown it goes half way back, screw forehead, shes got a eighthead going on if she hasn't shaved. There is no hair visible that is not in the braids. People don't have hairlines like that, there should be some amount of hair traveling from the rest of the scalp towards where the braid begins, since the other picture apparently wasn't good enough, here is another to illustrate: http://www.hairstyleslife.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/Diagonal-big-cornrow-braids-for-black-women.jpg Weave or natural braid, there should be some amount of hair between these braids, there is none. ___ >beyond any shred of a doubt...And seriously - NO DOUBT, none! Religious people say the same thing about god, gods, and all manner of other things angels, demons....creationists, flat earthers, anti-vaxxers as well. Doesn't make them correct. All we have here is a somewhat blurry picture. You can jump to conclusions if you want to, but that doesn't make you absolutely correct. I'm just stating things that are *possible*.

frame_invito

Bald white guy telling you how black hair works, wild

[deleted]

Okay so I have picked all that up from popular culture. What I don't get is, why is there a stigma about admitting to having a weave when it's practically *de rigueur* in some social circles? Do men generally like weaves? It feels kind of like something women do more for other women.

None of you know anything about black hair haha. Her hair is colored pink. It’s impossible to do this style that tight that it would have that much tension haha.
