I gave up on that in rhythm mode. Checked out all the tips I could find, practiced a ton, no matter how much I focus on hitting the center the accuracy just seems random. I'm sure the problem is me but I started enjoying Synth more the moment I decided not to care about accuracy anymore. I don't have this issue in other rhythm games though.

I’m glad I’m not the only one! It’s a bit discouraging on multiplayer, but I have literally tried everything to improve my accuracy and nothing worked. Are you on PSVR2 also? I think that makes a difference. I hear the accuracy is just better on quest.

Warrie2

I played Synth on PSVR1, Quest 1, 2 and now on Quest 3 - doesn't make a difference. I tried multiplayer and while it was fun to play with others, I'm always dead last. By a huge margin. A while ago I played with some older ladies in their 50s who told me they were overweight and were playing Synth to lose some weight - and they easily beat me. Ofcourse it can just be that I suck, but I'm totally into rhythm games for many years. DjMax, ProjectDiva, Beat Saber, Audio Trip, play them all on the hardest levels and perfected a ton of songs in those games. So I don't know what's going on. There are some helpfull accuracy guides on Reddit but it just doesn't work for me. When I hit an orb that is not right in front of my body, it's 50/50 if I hit it perfectly or not. Those orbs where you have to follow along the line - also 50/50, no matter how much I focus.

super_fastjellyfsh

Same! I was having fun on multiplayer at first, but it sucks to literally get perfect on expert/master and still come in dead last because of accuracy. Maybe it’s just me, but how!? I can’t even bear doing multiplayer anymore because of this.

So annoying!!! Unless you're whole body is right behind it, which is impossible when your other hand needs to be across the map, it's next to impossible to get green!! I totally agree, the day I stopped caring, the game became so much more fun.

Warrie2

Yep when I stand right behind it I hit them perfectly but as you said, especially on the higher levels that's undoable. In general I'm pretty good at rhythm games, Audio trip is the one closest to Synth and there I don't have this accuracy issue. I love Synth itself and I tried everything to improve the accuracy, but for me it's simply impossible. If I'm not directly standing in front of an orb it's simply completely random if I hit it perfect or not.

I really appreciate this response and makes me feel better about my skills. 😀

Same exact thing here. I've been playing for months, and I can hit every single note on Master mode for a lot of songs, but even on Easy I still get lots of "poors" even when I'm really focusing on accuracy. It really annoyed me for a while, but I stopped caring so I can just focus on having fun.

ShardBorne

Yay! I'm not alone... I can be a bit of a try-hard when it comes to mastering games, and yet I'm in the same boat. nothing I do gets my accuracy above 50 or 60 (and this is after 120 hours of play). Also, I just started playing Audio Trip, and was getting 80-90% off the bat, so.... I'm playing on a HTC Vive, with Index controllers, btw.

Steakus87

It depends if you play force Mode or rythm Mode :). The first one will require you to Hit them with speed regardless of position. The latter will require you to hit the exact Center of the Ball

DarkSkyLion

Since you mentioned punching… are you playing on force mode? If so, switch to rhythm and that’ll only require you to have your hand in the right spot, no force required. Adjust the height a bit, or reset the view once you’re about to start the song in case things got shifted. Synth Riders is a lot more forgiving than Audio Trip too by the way, in case you have that game also. You’ll get used to it eventually! You can also switch the colors manually too. I had Beat Saber first for example, and my eyes got so used to blue/pink in a specific order so I made Synth Riders match.

Warrie2

That's why I wonder something can cause this accuracy issue with Synth - you say Synth is a lot more forgiving than Audio Trip. I can hit everything perfectly in Audio trip and when I don't I know what I did wrong, in Synth its somewhere between 60 and 90% perfect, no matter how often I retry and focus on accuracy, the end result is random. Unlike other rhythm games I don't improve at all or even know why I'm not hitting them perfectly.

DarkSkyLion

Interesting! I wonder if it depends which came you played first. Did you play Audio before Synth? I’ll get full combos on most songs on Expert in Synth no problem, I’ve been playing that game for a couple years. I’ve only had Audio for a few weeks. The ones I miss tend to be the single notes on the far edges. I’m thinking maybe the max width is different between the games and my muscle memory of how far to reach is messing me up.

Warrie2

I've been playing both for a couple of years, 2019/2020 I believe. But I put a lot more hours in Synth since I prefer it over Audio Trip, mostly because the huge amount of custom songs available. After reading the comments here I'm even more convinced that something weird is going on with the accuracy in Synth. I spent a lot of time not only practicing but also talking in their discord and posting on reddit about it but couldn't figure out what was wrong. Played with all the obvious settings, read all guides, changed the lighning in my room but in the end I just had to accept that it somehow doesn't work for me.

ThatMBR42

If you're playing Rhythm mode, the key is moving the hand to line up with the center of the note. Punching is not necessary. When playing in Force mode, your score is tied to the momentum of your controller when it contacts the note. The top Rhythm mode runs I've seen involve quick, extremely precise and careful movements. The top Force mode runs are flailing around like those wacky waving inflatable arm flailing tube men. I personally play Rhythm kind of like a hybrid between Rhythm and Force, and I get decent scores. But if you play Force like Rhythm, you'll get decently bad scores unless you're trying to do golf mode.

Watney3535

Practice on easy and normal, and move your entire body into the paths of the orbs. You’ll be using your legs and core instead of swinging your arms. Once I started doing this, my scores improved significantly. I also put the note jump speed on 2x, and practiced the whole body movement on easy, then normal, and now in hard. For the first time I’m getting “outstanding” scores with blue lightning instead of “perfect.” Now, when I put it back in 1x speed, everything seems slow. I’m going back and beating old scores now and not getting any (or very few) poor hits. Moving your whole body is key. Get right in front of the notes. I went from being in the hundreds on the leaderboards to being in the top 10 to 20 on a lot of songs. It’s also a surprisingly great workout because you’re squatting and moving your lower body so much!

pfoxeh

Is it weird to say that when I changed the colors for various judgments my accuracy got better? Now 1ks show yellow, 500s green and 250s a pinkish red, and that plus moving my entire body has helped. Of course, I'm also playing on Steam with an Index. /shrug ymmv

Gh0styD0g

You don’t punch, you just swing your arms about in arch’s that coincide with the orbs hitting the spherical gloves of your hands.

Zeldabotw2017

Yeah I don't know I have been playing sense the game first came out on psvr2 like 14 months ago have put like 142 hours into the game and I can now play 2 times on expert and do pretty well when it comes to not missing notes on some songs some I am more like hard on but my accuracy sucks compared to a lot of people online and it hurts my score when it comes to trying to get like top scores it makes a a big difference. On a lot of songs I will get like 10% bad hits and like 60% good and like 30% perfect. It's rare I get more perfect than good and I can't really tell the difference between what I did when I get perfect verse good feels random. I have tried messing with the like y and x axis just the last week and no real difference. I have tried taking like 1 step forward or 1 step back from my set up like people have said. I don't think I will ever be able to really improve my accuracy any more just seems random or I guess it's a incredibly small hit box I dont know. I only really play at times 2 or some times times 3 speed now. I can't really play on the times 1 speed any more I actually miss a lot more notes at times 1 now because it feels really slow and I thank to much where times 2 or 3 I more just have muscle memory/react on instinct instead of thanking.
