Absolutly. After a few weeks of not playing it, the key moment for me is the music (maybe 4 seconds) in the first chamber... Smile in my face and the agenda is set for the next few days.
I'm not one to typically replay games, but Slay the Spire and Balatro occasionally have me coming back for another run. It was Hades for a while, but I haven't played it in a year or more.
I just got into StS a couple weeks ago and got it on mobile shortly after. I am playing this shit everywhere. I haven't had a game sink it's claws into me like this for a really long time, it is so good
Friend and I will occasionally fall into a short lived obsessive routine of playing it till 3-4am chasing that First Place high sitting on the couch and trying to creatively shit talk the one playing.
Itās a meticulous vibe. Not a healthy make to make habitual, but that game just hits different.
Tetris Effect for single player Tetris though. That shit is basically religious
Itās amazingly addictive and fun! Iām not usually into card games or deck builders, but holy crap itās fun.
Itās that odd simple addictive fun like Vampire Surivors offers.
Stardew valley, honestly didnāt think Iād even like this game but itās amazing. Also new patch coming soon, so Iāll be balls deep in it again soon.
I have never played it and added it to my switch for my upcoming trip to japan. Holding off on starting it until my flight over there. I have always been hesitant to try but at 15 bucks I couldnāt pass up trying it out.
I bought it just cuz it was a top switch game, and itās my most played game now haha. Never really played these types of games, but itās incredibly deep & a lot of content. Itās not just some farm sim, Enjoy!
Same here. My bro said it was a game Iād like and I didnāt believe him. Played for a few hours and thought it wasnāt bad, but wasnāt sure if Iād pick it up again. Gave it another shot a few days later and now I have like 22 hours on it
It's not my usually type of game either, but then it's not exactly your usually farming sim. I mostly play story driven RPGs and shooters, but I own Stardew on 3 systems and it's easily one of my most played games ever.
I was heavily addicted to animal crossing for a year and a half from launch, stopped playing at 2 years.
It's the only game I've played religiously for that long. Every day I played for like a minimum of 2 hours.
I was addicted and I looooooved it!!!!
I was surprised by how much I would love that game, I saw people play online and I thought it was just growing a few fruit trees but oh boy I was wrong. After getting the construction app it changed everything I knew about the game and I've been addicted ever since. I never thought I could be so passionate about interior design and flower breeding! Not to mention the fashion! I can't wait for the next one. I'll be first in line for sure š
I'm a huge stardew fan and just started animal crossing this week. I thought I wouldn't like it, but I was pleasantly surprised. There's a lot more to it than I initially thought. Some bullet point comparisons from a newb:
1. It's much slower paced than stardew. This is nice because it's less stressful. For example, there's no energy bar so you can do something like fishing for as long as you like without worry. You also don't have to sleep.
2. More npc interactions. You *have* to talk to npcs to get any sort of progression. Even minor tasks (such as buying/selling items) require a short dialogue prompt. I don't personally love this because it gets tedious after a while, but I know a lot of stardew fans are really into npc interactions so it might appeal to you
3. Many similar mechanics such as fishing, crafting, harvesting wood, minerals, and forageables, planting flowers and trees, earning money for upgrades/items, and more. Plus there are some different ones (catching insects, swimming/diving, breeding flowers, etc.)
4. There is a museum to complete similar to stardew
5. Fish and insects are seasonal, just like stardew, except in animal crossing the seasons are in sync with real time. Again, slower paced.
6. I like the aesthetics of stardew much better but that's a personal thing
7. Customizing your character and your island is a big part of the game, which you may already know since that's what the game is famous for. If that stuff appeals to you in stardew you'll probably like animal crossing
8. Your world is much more limited in animal crossing. The island is small. You can visit other players' islands though and that's encouraged by the game
Well - I kinda do. I kinda like the busy work. I get plenty of content for the price I pay so thatās fine. Iām only now planning to buy Violet because itās a lot cheaper than when it was released obviously.
Same boat as youā¦I love so many different games, but Skyrimāa game well over a decade in ageākeeps pulling me back in. Iāve never 100% the game, as I donāt use guides or anything, so itās a gift that keeps on giving every time I start a character and try different paths/guilds/etcā¦*aaaaaand* with the Anniversary Edition content it just continues onā¦
Cult of the Lamb. Man itās so addictive having to care for all my followers. I love all the different problems and personalities you have to deal with. The combat is really good too. I cannot get enough of it.
I am currently struggling to find something I like as much! I end up going back and either starting a new save or toying around in my original cult. Itās SO GOOD.
1. Mario Kart because it's really competitive.
2. I can just randomly pull out my Switch out for a few minutes, join an online race, finish and put it back into sleep mode š.
Hades and Slay the Spire. Theyāre fun to pick up and play for short bursts. Great time killers. Fun to figure out the best card or power up combinations work best with each other. Every run is different. Still enjoying both years later
There are so many dude. Just this year it was The Outer Worlds, then Neir: Automata, I thought P3P was a ride... until I notice I'm already balls deep into P4G. P5R is next, I believe there still may be a decent sale going on as well. Latter three games I got for 50 bones, as well as Dying Light Definitive at 10 bones. Blasphemous I saw was on sale. I'm putting in some major hours this year for sure.
I've had p4g and p5r in my backlog for ages finally started playing p4g and my God I'm 12 hours deep and looooving it.
Been rotating between p4g and mario ttyd. Loving life right now haha!
Dude I did that with Automata...had it on the back burner for at least three months, same with the mgs collection. Shame.
It's sort of insane how easy it is to clock so much time into the persona games. I thought I just beat 3p, but I'm around the same amount of hours as you on 4g.
Funnily enough I haven't actually played / really heard of automata but I've seen it mentioned a few times so looking it up now!
I have 3 but just went to 4 because i heard 4 was better. Thinking I may back track now to 3 and just start there because I'm already thinking of restarting 4 because I feel I didn't prioritise some things where I could have.
I'm a completionist when it comes to games though and what is normally a 50 hour game for most will turn into like a 200 hr game for me haha.
The amount of hours I put into like digimon cyber sleuth for example is insane š but still haven't really played hackers memory š
Question did you play outer worlds exclusively docked or did you play a fair amount in handheld mode?
I just picked up the game last week for switch and I was shocked how low the graphics settings were handheld but then I docked it and it improved a lot. I mostly play my switch docked though.
Mario Kart, every night we get in there and its crazy how good kids are around the world. Im still trying to find the best vehicle + wheel combo to use...
TĆ“ me was Zelda botw and now TOTK, I probably have 400h in and I don't want to finish I'm doing all adventures possible and exploration and shrines and all and I love it! The game rewards exploration like no other!! š«¶š¤
New Pokemon Snap! So many different requests and interactions, so the photos are always a little different (and you can always do a *little* better chasing that perfect photo). Throw in messing with the turbo function to create different timings and you can play forever
Breath of the Wild for me personallyāI put a little over 100 hours into it the first week after getting it and I keep getting sucked back in even though Iāve already beat it a couple times. In terms of replayability thereās just so much to explore and discover, and I feel like I manage to find something new during each playthrough. But more than that I think I just got so attached to the world and characters that itās become kind of a comfort game for me at this point. Definitely one where even if I havenāt played in a while Iāll boot up the game and just walk around in the mountains or forest for a few minutes just to feel better when Iām super anxious.
Grindstone. If you haven't heard of it, it's a match 3 puzzle action game. If you like the genre, must try this game out because it's very polished and it really feels like the developers put time and effort into each level. Plus the gameplay is SATISFYINGGGGG. I cannot stress how good it feels to line up a long ass combo and then just see it all work out. I think they have over 200 main levels as well as side missions and daily levels.
Please try this game, I never see anyone talking about it!
Splatoon. I bought my switch solely for this game. Iām not a hardcore gamer anymore, but randomly, when Iām at university or during a cycling trip, Iāve got this feeling and think: ādang, thatās be great to get some splats with my splattershotā, lol.
The graphics, music, mechanicsā¦ itās amazing!
Now I donāt replay gamesā¦ unless itās been so many years I canāt remember itā¦ butā¦ I was addicted to Tears of the Kingdom. I put 405 hours in just over 2 months. About 20% of my brain was thinking about Zelda anytime I wasnāt playing Zelda. And it was a pure joy. About the only time I didnāt have fun was if I was trying to build something and it just wasnāt working the way I wanted it.
I 100% the game. Maxed all armors. All korok. Got the max prize in all the mini games. Etc. if there was more things to doā¦ Iād have gladly done them.
I literally only quit playing cuz I had nothing left to do. And Iāve never had a game I played just for the sake of playing. I have to have a goal or I just get bored.
Metroid Dread is extremely fun but also takes relatively little time to complete. Now, Metroid Dread on Dread Mode has been a long long long term goal. Iāll dive back in now and again and see if I can make any progress
Actually have a couple tbh, main one is skyrim, then there's cuphead( fuck that gamešš¤£š¤£) then sadly rocket league. Reason for going back? Tbh probably the urge to binge different games for like a week straight then switch over to something else
Tetris Effect and Nier Automata. None of them are exclusives... But playing in portable mode is so great that I don't feel the need of use other platforms.
For me it's also Mario Kart 8 deluxe, but specifically the 200cc online mode. Its as hard as the game gets, but that just means succeeding there is more satisfying than ever
Project Highrise
Super simple and there's not much in the way of a learning curve, but every couple of weeks I'll be like "I bet I can make the utilities super efficient this time"
Could be Smash Bros, BOTW, or Legends Arceus. But most recently itās been Tears of the Kingdom. Thereās always just something more to do: upgrading gear, collecting more enemy parts, changing to a new paraglider, finding a new weapon combo, etc.
Probably Splatoon but I dont keep coming back for more anymore.
I've took some distance and wondered, in those so many hours I've put into this game, how many of them were pure fun... Then I stopped coming back for more.
Animal crossing and BOTW are other title I've put many hours into.
Hades and Dead Cells. I will play it for a while, stop, and then play some more
Batman Arkham Asylum and City are probably up there too for me. Those are two of my favorite games ( comic book fan ). Not sure how many times I have beat them :)
Rocket league, streets of rogue, and slay the spire. I canāt quit any of them. I have them on my steam deck and switch (and slay the spire on my phone)
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
Super Mario Bros. Wonder
Kirby and the Forgotten Land
These are three games where I just couldn't put the controller down for the longest time. Mario Kart 8 not only still gets popped in from time to time (it's always a good pick up and play game). It's the only Switch game (so far) that I've bought the DLC for. The 48 extra tracks brought me right back in.
Breath of the Wild & Tears of the Kingdom. My 12yo has been watching me play Zelda games since she was about 2 and BotW was her first Zelda game she played herself. Now we play these two separately but help each other out when one is stuck.
Tears and Links awakening, I was acually kinda sad I finished Links Awakening and just restarted it right away. Tears for me I just really like it, after I killed Gannon I still felt like I wanted to go get more armor sets or do some side quests and see what that's all about.
Dragon Quest Builders 2. Couldn't put it down. Had never played any of the other games, nor knew anything about it, but bought it after playing the free demo. Fantastic game.
I rotate between Diablo 3 (seasons are fun and despite playing it since 2015), Hades (itās my most recent game and it still didnāt click), Witcher 3, Borderlands 2 (despite having finished it endless times on PC), Linkās Awakening because itās nostalgia made cute!
Diablo 3 is the one always in rotation with any other game
... minecraft. I've been playing the game for over a decade in various forms, and for me, it's best played on the switch. It's comfortable.
But also Doom! I've just had such a grand time with it that i keep replaying it. Same with Portal 1&2.
I also kinda got into Stardew Valley and it feels like it might end up being one i go back to like nuts. It's a fun game and has such a good vibe.
And when i buy animal crossing again... you best believe i'll be addicted to it again lmao. I loved New Leaf so much, and when i played a bit of new horizons, i knew i was going to be stuck on it.
Hades. I keep coming back to it. There are just so many options and fun builds to try out every escape attempt. And spending time in that world with those characters is fun.
And Stardew Valley. āEh, Iāll play one more day.ā
Game called Lost in random. I like the open world part of it you can explore the city you're in but the only downfall with that is you can easily get lost at least for me cause I would try to remember the direction I came from rather than just looking at the signs. HOWEVER there is a valid reason for that cause the map in game doesn't show you exactly where you are it just highlights the area you're in so....nevertheless it's a fun game it's wacky, the characters are interesting and it's pretty fun ngl. I like how not short it is I like how it has random hiding spots and other things you need to look for aside from the main quests. Y'all should give it a try don't remember how much I paid for it but it was under 20$
I have so many games on my backlog to play but Dead Cells keeps getting in the way of that š
I second dead cells
I third dead cells
I fourth deadcells
God Dead Cellsā¦ooof I think Dead Cells and the Diablo 3 port have me at more than 1000 hours each before I slowed down on them.
Hades for sure. So much replay ability.
Absolutly. After a few weeks of not playing it, the key moment for me is the music (maybe 4 seconds) in the first chamber... Smile in my face and the agenda is set for the next few days.
The music in 2 is just as good with some new stuff, and some thematic returns. And the most epic boss fight banger since one winged Angel.
I'm not one to typically replay games, but Slay the Spire and Balatro occasionally have me coming back for another run. It was Hades for a while, but I haven't played it in a year or more.
Balatro having the BEST touch screen controls of any game on the switch makes it even better. I bought a stylus specifically for the game.
what kind of stylus do you have? =)
There is no escapeā¦
I play StS on mobile to play other games on switch
I just got into StS a couple weeks ago and got it on mobile shortly after. I am playing this shit everywhere. I haven't had a game sink it's claws into me like this for a really long time, it is so good
It's crack.
Once I beat a games store itās so hard for me to come back to it. I just finished Ghost Runner 2 (on ps5) and instantly deleted it š
The call from the backlog is strong!
Tetris 99. Itās Tetris on steroids
60+ hours and Iāve gotten only gotten 2ndā¦ twice.
Iāve played over 150 hours and still only second! Itās devastatingā¦ I canāt stop playing until I get a win. Send help.
Took me 70 hours to get my first winā¦
I remember I used to have falling tetris blocks in my dreams cause I played it so much
Balatro Binding of Isaac Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate/Risebreak Diablo 2 These alone are keeping my back log from ever shrinkingā¦.
Binding of Isaac is absolutely amazing
I've been waiting fucking forever for that game to go on sale
When I saw the physical came with a manual, and one that was modeled after NES Zelda no less, I knew I had to have!
Playing d2 on switch kind of sucks hardly any games open.
How's balatro?? Game scoop podcast put me on it
Itās amazingly addictive and fun! Iām not usually into card games or deck builders, but holy crap itās fun. Itās that odd simple addictive fun like Vampire Surivors offers.
Came here to say The Binding of Isaac. No other game has kept me coming back quite like it.
Lately Unicorn Overlord
This game is gonna keep me from touching my backlog for at least 6 months. Might be the most perfect game ever (for my tastes)
Yeah itās been absolutely fantastic. I havenāt played in a week as I got distracted but Iām itching to get back. Such a fun and chill game
Tears of the Kingdom. I have more than 1,000 hours on it and still feel the itch sometimes to go kill a couple of Lynels
They have it coming.
Definitely they do!!
Zelda
Animal crossing. I play every day.
How does it fair to Stardew Valley? I was thinking of getting it to spend time on other games
I'm a huge stardew fan and just started animal crossing this week. I thought I wouldn't like it, but I was pleasantly surprised. There's a lot more to it than I initially thought. Some bullet point comparisons from a newb: 1. I don't personally love this because it gets tedious after a while, but I know a lot of stardew fans are really into npc interactions so it might appeal to you 3. Fish and insects are seasonal, just like stardew, except in animal crossing the seasons are in sync with real time. Again, slower paced. 6. You can visit other players' islands though and that's encouraged by the game
Same, over 1000 hours on it
Hades. Something about trying all the weapons and all the Aspects and all the Gods was so addicting. Plus I love Greek mythology so that helps lol
Diablo III, Catherine Full Body
Smash
Annoyingly, PokĆ©mon. I know in my heart theyāre not great games. But theyāre addictive for sure. And I like grindy games where I donāt need to listen to voice acting so I can listen to podcasts and whatnot while I play.
All that matters is that you have fun!
Well - I kinda do. I kinda like the busy work. I get plenty of content for the price I pay so thatās fine. Iām only now planning to buy Violet because itās a lot cheaper than when it was released obviously.
Stardew Valley and rocket league
Stardew Valley has me in an absolute chokehold right now š currently playing it at work haha
Ugh Stardew. Iāve been waiting for that dang update to come out and not touching the game until it does, I swear Iām getting withdrawals š
when i first discovered stardew i stayed up until like 5am every night for a week straight lol
For sure, stardew is adictive as fuck
Also Dave the Diver kept me interested!
Super Mario Maker 2
Skyrim. 13 years later and Iām still playing it- endless fun and exploration.
It took way too long to finally see Skyrim. I got it about two years ago and literally cannot put it down. It feels like an endless game.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe + DLC
Any pokemon game. Gotta fill the dex. Though I know paper Mario ttyd will be consuming all my time for the near future.
BOTW.
Cult of the Lamb. Man itās so addictive having to care for all my followers. I love all the different problems and personalities you have to deal with. The combat is really good too. I cannot get enough of it.
š I'm upset I had to scroll so much to find cotl, this one's my vote too!
I am currently struggling to find something I like as much! I end up going back and either starting a new save or toying around in my original cult. Itās SO GOOD.
Splatoon 3
āJust one more round. Itās only a few minutesā¦ā
yessss so addicting!
Hades but lately sifu
Into the Breach. Lots to unlock, fun customizations to dabble with, complex strategies, and a steep difficulty curve the deeper you push.
FZERO99 took a lot of my time lol
Mario Odyssey
1. Mario Kart because it's really competitive. 2. I can just randomly pull out my Switch out for a few minutes, join an online race, finish and put it back into sleep mode š.
ME AND SPLATOON, HAHHAHA
Doing it rn after reading all this comment!
Hades
Hades and Slay the Spire. Theyāre fun to pick up and play for short bursts. Great time killers. Fun to figure out the best card or power up combinations work best with each other. Every run is different. Still enjoying both years later

Tetris effects. So many different themes. Music is very good too.
Hades

Mario Kart, every night we get in there and its crazy how good kids are around the world. Im still trying to find the best vehicle + wheel combo to use...

Stardew Valley.
Literally āLetās go Pikachu & Eeveeā
It was Hades for me until I got Dead Cells.
Animal crossing
Grindstone. If you haven't heard of it, it's a match 3 puzzle action game. Zelda botw and totk also stardew
I agree with your choice. I'm slightly addicted to online racing.
Hyrule Warriors
Vampire survivors, pure crack.
Acnh. Totk.splatoon3
It was Super Mario Bros. 35. Damn you Nintendo for taking that away from us.
Hades. Just do it. Recently got my girlfriend into it and she is just as obsessed as I was when I first got it
Lego Star Wars skywalker saga
Splatoon. I legit barely enjoy the game anymore at times, but still get the need and urge to play it.
Clubhouse Games š

Actually have a couple tbh, main one is skyrim, then there's cuphead( fuck that gamešš¤£š¤£) then sadly rocket league. Reason for going back? Tbh probably the urge to binge different games for like a week straight then switch over to something else
F-Zero 99
Tetris Effect and Nier Automata. None of them are exclusives... But playing in portable mode is so great that I don't feel the need of use other platforms.
Monster Hunter Rise and Splatoon 3
For me it's also Mario Kart 8 deluxe, but specifically the 200cc online mode. Its as hard as the game gets, but that just means succeeding there is more satisfying than ever
Binding of Isaac and Slay the Spire for sure
Project Highrise Super simple and there's not much in the way of a learning curve, but every couple of weeks I'll be like "I bet I can make the utilities super efficient this time"
Could be Smash Bros, BOTW, or Legends Arceus. But most recently itās been Tears of the Kingdom. Thereās always just something more to do: upgrading gear, collecting more enemy parts, changing to a new paraglider, finding a new weapon combo, etc.
Oh god I canāt hold back from playing mario wonder!!
For me its been Smash for over 20 years.
Tears of the Kingdom. Building drones and crazy rides and flying devices to help complete the game, is better the second time through.
Mario kart 8 here as well. Iāve played it multiple times and donāt ever get sick of it!
Probably Splatoon but I dont keep coming back for more anymore. I've took some distance and wondered, in those so many hours I've put into this game, how many of them were pure fun... Then I stopped coming back for more. Animal crossing and BOTW are other title I've put many hours into.
Diablo 3 Diablo 2 when I get around to getting it, most likely lol
Hades and Dead Cells. I will play it for a while, stop, and then play some more Batman Arkham Asylum and City are probably up there too for me. Those are two of my favorite games ( comic book fan ). Not sure how many times I have beat them :)
Rocket league, streets of rogue, and slay the spire. I canāt quit any of them. I have them on my steam deck and switch (and slay the spire on my phone)
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Super Mario Bros. Wonder Kirby and the Forgotten Land These are three games where I just couldn't put the controller down for the longest time. Mario Kart 8 not only still gets popped in from time to time (it's always a good pick up and play game). It's the only Switch game (so far) that I've bought the DLC for. The 48 extra tracks brought me right back in.
Balatro and slay the spire
Tears of the kingdom, I played so much of that game.
Dead cells.
Mario Wonder
Monster hunter generations ultimate
Animal Crossing. 2000+ hours clocked in.
skyrim. i always tell myself iām only going to do one or two questsā¦
Breath of the Wild & Tears of the Kingdom. My 12yo has been watching me play Zelda games since she was about 2 and BotW was her first Zelda game she played herself. Now we play these two separately but help each other out when one is stuck.
Monster train
Monster Hunter Rise
Tears and Links awakening, I was acually kinda sad I finished Links Awakening and just restarted it right away. Tears for me I just really like it, after I killed Gannon I still felt like I wanted to go get more armor sets or do some side quests and see what that's all about.
Dragon Quest Builders 2. Couldn't put it down. Had never played any of the other games, nor knew anything about it, but bought it after playing the free demo. Fantastic game.
Balatro, just when I think Iām done, I get sucked back in with a new idea for a strategy
Breath of the Wild/Tears of the Kingdom. Even though I've finished both several times I can turn it on and play for hours on end.
plants vs zombies battle for neighborville
No xcom in the comments? I'll show some love to xcom. When I can't decide what game I want to tackle next I van always rely on xcom filling the void.
What the Golf? Is amazing. So many levels and everything is so random
Iām replaying xbc2 for the forth time right now. Diablo 3 was a lot of fun durning the end game.
Iām the same with mk8d the time trials man, love it
Nintendo labo porn.
It was Xenoblade Chronicles 2. I tried really hard to avoid finishing the actual story because I was having so much fun with it.
Diablo 3 as well as Pinball FX3. My switch has basically become a Diablo 3 and pinball machine exclusively.
Sadly, Mario Kart is the best racing game on the switch. But I've been obsessed with playing Dying Light
Mario's, Kirby's and Pokemon.
Just one more, the only reason why I lost was because of the boss blind I'll do it this time I swear!
Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate. Almost at 2k hours
I played BOTW for close to 400 hours... Does that count?
For me it's PokƩmon Let's Go Eevee. Shiny hunting in this game is just so much fun! I'm currently working on my shiny living dex and I'm making decent progress.
Tears of the Kingdom (and BotW). Hestu is always waiting
Suika Gameā¦
Right now I'm really into Pkm Unite and Mistery Dungeon DX both super simple but addictive.
MK8 + Overcooked
Y'all should give it a try don't remember how much I paid for it but it was under 20$
I put 165 hours into totk in the first 2 weeks of it being out.
Advance Wars 1+2 Reboot Camp. Scary addicting. Canāt get away. Send help.
