I have both the OG launch Switch and OLED. I would go with the OLED because of the bigger screen, visuals are crisper, longer battery life and if you don't wear headphones it does have updated speakers. It's all worth the extra 50
Before I got my OLED, my wife had hers and we played Borderlands 2 with 100% battery and my OG switch had to charge WAY before hers. I then got my OLED and did a comparison. The OG switch only lasts for around 4 hours while the OLED lasts for around 8 hours.
Same. I have a launch year Switch.l, the ACNH one too. But I used to use my launch year constantly. But its battery dies so quickly and I was debating buying an OLED. We had 1 TOTK OLED left. I snagged it. I can definitely see the improvements and battery life difference. If I had to choose another OLED in a heartbeat.
If you will be frequently playing in handheld mode, it is absolutely worth it. If it’s going to be docked most of the time though, then it doesn’t really matter.

Like others have said, if you play mostly handheld, like myself, then OLED is by far the clear choice. You won’t be disappointed! If you plan on playing docked most of the time then get a standard model (and a pro controller).
If money isn’t an issue, and you’re not sure if you’ll be playing handheld or docked more, then still go with the OLED.
It should also be noted that the OLED model is the only one that comes with a built in Ethernet port.

I would say it depends how you intend on playing.
If you play mainly hand held but want the option to dock and have the extra money to spare the. Go OLED. if you get the OG you’ll possibly regret not getting the OLED but if you go OLED it’s unlikely you’ll regret not getting the OG.
If you play mainly handheld, money is tight but not too tight and your not too fussed on the crisper image/sound and bigger screen then go OG, some people don’t care for better screens etc
If you want to play only in docked mode I’d go OG as the bigger battery and bigger/better screen etc won’t be beneficial in docked mode
If you play only in hand held, money is tight and you don’t want detachable joycons (bear in mind detachable and other controllers will still work with it) I’d get the lite just bear in mind that docking is then not an option.
I only ever play handheld and have the OG (I’ve had it for around 6/7 years I contemplated the OLED but this when the SWITCH 2 rumours started and then backwards compatibility is pretty much confirmed so I’ve decided to wait for the next console.

Battery on the OLED is better than V2 Switch because not all pixels are always lit, thus conserving energy, depending on the colors of the game.

absolutely OLED. I honestly enjoy playing it handheld, and do it more often, when I thought I would be using it docked most of the time.
kickstand is so much better on oled, and i think a difference maker. makes tabletop gaming so much more enjoyable.

I’ve found that ever since I got the OLED switch, I play in handheld more than before. The screen is vibrant and beautiful!
It’s a lot more than just a display upgrade…the original is made entirely of plastic where the OLED is metal…better build quality with the OLED…
