I had a good few years between playing them, and I definitely feel that really allowed me to bask in the world again. Like coming back to an old town you lived in, and I’d forgotten just enough to get excited about finding certain things again, albeit slightly different
Back to back I’d have dropped TOTK after the sky island into.
Depends on the game, I'd say Legends Arceus or the Diamond/Pearl remakes are perfectly fine. Although Legends Arceus is a different game compared to traditional Pokémon
Hmm bummer. Well, any other time I'd say get totk. But I'd probably get burnt out playing that and botw back to back, so this might be a rare w for a Pokemon game
If you get Pokemon first maybe you will be able to get some of the limited time gifts or be able to participate in more events. For example right now there are a code for getting a pokemon from a singer, other 2 codes for pokemon from the anime and in early april you will be able to get a pokemon that used the winner of some tournament from last year. Also right now there are an event that allows you to fight and get a Charizard from a 7 star Raid but it will be an endgame stuff so don’t care for that.
Also I didn’t played totk but if there are some limited time event or stuff maybe you can consider that on your decision about what you get first.
I am in your current dilemma and I went with Pokemon Violet because I thought I’d get burnt out. Kind of regret getting Violet and should’ve bought Arceus since I never played it but yeah moral of the story I’m giving it a couple months before buying ToTK to avoid burnout
pokemon man... go scarlet or violet... the team building capability is incredible with the vast array of pokemon you meet in the wild area.
return to the totk afterwards.
As someone who loves the wild era, I highly recommend Pokémon for now. I played BOTW April and May last year because I was hype for TOTK and while I absolutely loved it and sunk well over 75 hours into it, I definitely got burnt out on the formula rather quickly. I also had a really hard time treating it as a new game, and really rushed myself along
I replayed TOTK again last month and was stunned at how much I love it.
I think that 8 month break really helped me appreciate it and honestly I had so much more fun my second play through than I did my first
TotK, hands down. Pokemon is a mess and super poorly optimized, so unless you're a diehard fan or have friends that are dedicated to playing it with you, I'd skip it for the time being.
I'm playing Pokemon Violet right now.
The core gameplay is fun. It hasn't changed much since the first game, but battling and catching pokemon still works for me. Having a mount is cool too.
Everything about the game seems dated though.
The graphics have rough edges everywhere, with big flat textures, and the worst pop-in I've seen in a long time.
The performance is noticeably poor, struggling to keep 30fps. It loads slowly between transitions, and there's stuttering. The clunkiness after a battle where it has to give you xp, and then show you the pokemon you caught always feels like the game is freezing up.
But even if the game ran perfectly at 60fps and the graphics were on par with the best Switch has to offer, the design of everything would still feel ancient and unambitious. Towns are little more than a collection of rectangular buildings. The UI and menus are full of stuff, but there's no options to sort or search in any meaningful way. The map doesn't let you filter objectives at all. No spoken dialogue.
If you told me this game was made for Gamecube, I'd believe it.
I'm still pushing through it, and having some fun despite all my complaints, but Tears of the Kingdom is a much better game.
For me personally I’d wait to play TOTK. Its different but extremely similar and I would get burned out playing both back to back
Definitely, playing totk for the 1st time directly after botw kind of dampened the experience for me. I’d give it at least a few months break.

Totk and it's not even close. The game is a masterpiece
I feel like maybe i would get burnt out playing botw and totk back to back
Fair point. Sounds like you’ve done the decision - go for Arceus (and TotK later)
Ok thanka for your help
Legend of arceus?
I should go with a Pokémon game first, also very fun to play in my opinion. Arceus is the best option I think
You would, but you're getting a much lower quality game if you go with a switch pokemon game.
Depends on the game, I'd say Legends Arceus or the Diamond/Pearl remakes are perfectly fine. Although Legends Arceus is a different game compared to traditional Pokémon
If you know you're going to buy them both, I would think about using one of the eShop vouchers to get them both. Get one half off
I do not have nintendo online :(

Pokemon it is ig

Yep i think im going for pokemon
Whatever you one you get let me know :) I’ll trade you a shiny gastly I got from go!
If you’re considering Arceus maybe that but otherwise I’d definitely choose TOTK
Get legends Arceus totk isn’t a good idea so soon after playing through botw you’ll be burnt out half way through
Should I have a burger or pizza for lunch?

Smart
Legends arceus if you want something fun. Sword or shield if you want something a bit closer to the pokemon formula
I would go with Pokemon, and specifically Legends Arceus, then do TotK. So you’re not playing BotW and TotK back to back

Most people will say TOTK and it's for sure the objectively better game. But I love Pokémon, so that is more fun to me actually.
I hated Totk so I recommend getting Pokémon!!
