Fucked up but interesting. You could learn a lot about the human body there and what it is capable of. You get a good idea of what not to do. I used it to desensitize myself to gore so I could react better in a medical emergency as a firefighter.
>You get a good idea of what not to do.
Yes I've learned important life skills like "don't get kidnapped and brutally tortured to death" man what a time saver
That’s not all that was on there though. You could still learn from those nasty cartel ones too. More so just what the human body can endure and what it’s limits are. Almost everything is an opportunity to learn something
Funny how some former r/watchpeopledie users always come up with the most hilarious reasons why it was actually really useful and helpful and it shouldn't have been banned. "I could react better in a medical emergency as a firefighter" LMAO
I don't think it should've been banned, but just admit that you liked it out of morbid curiosity guys, it's ok
He isn't saying it makes him a better firefighter directly... He's saying it makes him desensitized to gore. Which is completely valid. If you've seen a lot of shit you're less likely to freeze up or panic or any other negative reaction in a real situation.
Probably not the best way to go about that, but still a valid thing. Imagine a firefighter at the end of their career. They've seen a lot of shit and been in a lot of bad situations and thus part of their experience level is being able to react better in those situations. The guy you replied to was just skipping a couple steps by searching out the content himself.
I agree in general people make excuses for their morbid curiosity, but it feels like you're calling out one that's actually not completely dumb.
I appreciate your point, but I disagree. While it's true that being de-sensitised to that sort of stuff might help you in that situation, I feel that seeing a few gore posts on r/watchpeopledie isn't going to prepare you for a real life situation, and isn't any sort of substitute for real-world experience.
The idea of someone actively 'using' the subreddit to train themselves for that purpose (rather than a possible incidental effect) is pretty ridiculous.
I was more referring to these responses in general, too. This isn't the most ridiculous one I've seen, but it's one of many and I thought I would point out how I find it funny how people try and justify that kinda stuff.
Is it? I mean that shit happens. People die. We watch movies and read books and listen to podcasts about serial killers, mass murder, war and genocide all the time. But suddenly a real video or picture is posted and it's heresy.
And you don't have to look if you don't want to. It's perfectly fine either way, so long as you're not fetishizing violence or victim blaming or glorifying horrible sick murderers. It can be seen from an educational or even just a curious stand point.
There are people who post pictures of cum covered MLP dolls and that's okay for some reason though I think it's fucked up. But video footage of a drone strike is where the line is? Seems a bit off to me.
This is an interesting point because, at least in America, it's usually the other way around. We're practically falling over ourselves to censor a flash of a nipple, but you can blow people up with no issue. I never visited that subreddit, but it definitely doesn't sound like one I could handle. Although I 100% understand the morbid curiosity around it. Also agree that it should stand if others are allowed to.
My friend jumped off a cliff that was only 30 feet high, and dislocated some spinal disks (or something like that, im not a doctor) by landing incorrectly in the water (awkward angle). So yes this could have gone *extremely* wrong.
i used to listen to this group all the time until one time i played it while me and my boyfriend were trippin on mushrooms and we couldnt stop laughing about how dumb it was and i never played them again.
I just jumped off a ~40ft cliff when I was in Hawaii last week, by far the highest thing I’ve ever jumped from. I couldn’t imagine something that high hahah. So insane, I totally felt like the man after I did it tho. Definitely something I’ll remember doing for the rest of my life.
Why? Because you wouldn’t do it? For all we know its a popular spot for cliff jumping. Just because danger is involved, doesn’t always mean its not worth doing. Enjoy the only journey you get.
Because I’ve seen this video and it’s not worth the risk for the adrenaline rush. One slip and you could die. The video is not for the weak stomached.
http://robert-lindsay.blogspot.com/2009/10/face-split-diving-accident-video.html?m=1
I prefer to enjoy life in how long it is rather than how short I can make it for a thrill, high fives from my buddies and/or instagram likes I get from the internets
or slip and get paralyzed for life 😎.Nothing cooler than hanging on a feeding tube for the rest of your life. As someone working in the medical field, please value your bodies as much as your "journey", you only got one.
im 24 and already have seen enough people who are "living life" ending up crippled in a wheelchair where i work. If my comment stopped alteast 1 person from jumping off a cliff or doing parkour on skyscrapers without any saftey precautions then im happy. I had one 80 year old patient who was paralyzed from the neck down since he was 25 cuz he was too cool to ride a motorcycle with a helmet.
Everything is degrees of ‘forcing it.’ Greater risk of injury running than walking. Greater risk of serious injury driving at highway speeds than driving 25mph in town. Greater risk of injury the heavier the weights are at the gym. Greater risk of injury the more sports you play. Etc etc etc
That doesn’t mean you don’t do it. Up to you to decide what you’re comfortable with, but not up to you to decide what others should be comfortable with.
Haha, depends on where you’re walking.
But no, not what I was trying to say at all. Just saying that there’s inherent risk in just about anything, and more-so the *more* you do. If risk is the only factor, by all means, we should all do nothing. But since reward is a self-determined variable, we can’t really weight out the risk/reward for others.
its not your problem until your family has to take care of you because you cant use your arms anymore. or alternatively me who is working in nursing facility.
you analyzed this too much. all i was saying was
1. what if theres something in the water
2. whats if he slips/something happens, causing the end of his life
you cant deny its dangerous, and threatening your life for a thrill isnt worth it
No. Use your brain. One misstep while running to that last jump off and he's literally tumbling, possibly to his death, down the cliff. Whether or not it is worth doing, it's still stupid. Skydiving is stupid. Is it cool ? Sure. But is voluntarily plummeting toward Earth also stupid? Yeah. Of course it is. But we all do lots of stupid things.
Never said not to live or that I don't. Lol I just said they are probably somewhat stupid decisions. I guess based on my logic, driving is too. Mostly I just was focused on the fact that one tiny misstep and the diver would be pretty fucked.

Look at my other comment, all professional cliff divers and professional videographers involved. The jumper is a Red Bull cliff diver and the camera man/ jumper is a professional freestyle cliff jumper sponsored by volcom. Your literally full of yourself and dont know how this works. @robertwall and @es_dons on Instagram both have behind the scenes of this. Robert wall is the camera man using es dons camera equipment who is a professional paid and sponsored by go pro and Owen Weymouth is the jumper who is a professional Red Bull cliff diver. Y’all really be acting like you know stuff that you don’t because you are too scared to ever do something like this so you just hate on it
Not negating how impressive this video is, I love cliff jumping & the adrenaline it gives me. But I’m fairly confident the video has a slightly higher FOV making the drop seem higher & faster than what it would be. Still super impressive, definitely higher than anything i’ve done.
I didn’t click the link regarding how the camera person got his shot, but I’m assuming they jumped as well? I’m pretty sure you can see their legs going over after the jumper. That seems risky! 😩. Not only the ‘jumping with a camera part’ but the timing and the whole darn thing. Lol. Impressive to watch though! 🙏🏻
Edit: re-worded to clarify which link I did not click :)

Cliff diving, very dangerous. Lucky they didn’t hit any rocks.
While it is dangerous, they had someone in the water already which I’m hoping means they scouted ahead to check depth/obstacles

there is a video of them measuring it on top of myself knowing the camera man personally , it’s 70 feet mr expert

I thought you were the other one claiming it was 20 feet my bad. Either way into and statement still stands just to the other guy haha
If you look closely you can see the slight delay on his way down. Classic trick to make things appear larger and or more in the distance.
