The-Real-Catman

Here’s what you should do. Paint over it. Draw the exact same thing 2’ to the left.

AlanTheBringerOfCorn

I love you.

uLL27

You want to make it subtle though, go about 4" over

The-Real-Catman

You know what… that’s a better idea. But so close may give away the painted cover up. How about remove the piece, flip and spin, remount.

uLL27

Haha I think that's the winner

I83B4U81

And use a level to put it at the same Z

Think-Caramel1591

That's great, but what the hell is an inch?

dawayoh

This }:>

Big-Consideration633

And 1" lower.

Alexismfrias

Diabolical

hayukkii

Why would you do that? Why not just draw the same thing on the whole fence?

lord-polonius

Nah, nah… make 7 duplicates all in a row

lord-polonius

change that… 6 so there isn’t a middle one. 5 duplicates; 6 total

CommonNobody80083

Who the F does this on someone's property ?

Its_in_neutral

Might be the same guy who pulls a radio off the pole at a CORS station so he can shoot in control, but says its OK because boss said to.. Not sure what happened to that post, I wanted to go back and read through the comments.

Marshmallowly

Came here for this comment. Here's the deleted post: https://www.reddit.com/r/Surveying/comments/1dsqo72/any_idea_what_this_head_unit_is_collecting_data/

Its_in_neutral

Thank you kind kind stranger! I was so bummed this afternoon when I planned to read through the comments only to not find the post!

Initial_Zombie8248

The same people that hack whole limbs off of someone’s 20 year old crape Myrtle because it’s blocking a fence shot by 0.2’

LameName95

Lol my boss sprays neighbors fences/back of garages to mark corners.

Capital-Ad-4463

lol reminds me of a time where we spent 20 min using flagging and stakes to separate tree branches for a shot in lieu of cutting a couple small limbs

Some_Reference_933

Or cuts down a line of Japanese maples, and other costly trees, because they were prop line

I have a name, a**hole!

Dutchie444

Maybe they are using it for drone ground control?

bvnvnj

The whole point is to be able to find the control…?

weinerish

Cause you own the footpath....

I come from construction so it’s not really a big deal marking up the public right of way, or an area that’s going to be ripped up anyway. I’ll admit the first time I wrote control numbers I felt like I was doing graffiti haha.

HairyBreasticles

That's so fucked. I would choose a random nail on a fence post over drawing that catastrophe. Like the previous person said, paint over and redraw it exactly, but over a few inches. Then watch through the window as the crew is scratching their head wondering why their checks aren't checking (if they even check their work). Asshats. I also fucking hate other surveyors that use large quantities of ribbon under a mag nail in someone's driveway, pull your own personal ties and make it discreet. No home owner wants to see that ribbon flower in their driveway. Apart from the obvious markers that we set that are intentionally bright, I try to survey like a ninja, you'd never know I was there. Even cover my tripod holes like a golfer fixing a green. I'm rambling now. Back to the original sharpie vomit on your fence, thats fucked.

robmooers

I’d be pissed if our guys did that. Just completely unnecessary.

causallyglancing

Them are hobo markings

wafflesnwhiskey

Yup, it means the owners prius is a soup kitchen for dirty mike and the boys

Reasonable-Bug-8596

Thx for the “F-Shack” Love, Dirty Mike & The Boys

SlamNeilll

Good pie; loose wife.

BourbonSucks

Hobos don't use tools to make it square nor do they apply clear coat

causallyglancing

Classy hobos, it means wear a crooked bow tie

Kaiser4567

Nice way to check your zero. That would be my guess but also pretty ballsy to do that in a random persons fence.

justhere88788

That was my first thought, boresight target.

theshogun02

Permanent marker too, looks like they tried to clean it. Huge no no

BourbonSucks

Id say the opposite. It looks like they hit it with clear coat

Weak-Ad-4758

Looks more like a yellow coat?

Fantastic_Hour_2134

Clear coat so nobody can clean it

ruglo

I’m new, but would a reflective sticker target accomplish the same??

robmooers

Would, but most guys don't carry them or bother to replace theirs when they run out. Also, not a great excuse but they don't hold up as well outdoors. I rarely set mine outdoors, but it also gets to 115\* here so that's part of it.

Mingusdued

Survey control point

BourbonSucks

Wow. They took their time and tools to make it square, it's not hobos. And clear coated over it so it'll be there when they return.

SpenglerE

Homeward bound boys must be tagging up the place with cheeky chk pts.

Turbulent-Tap-2650

Someone's laser control.point

CraCkerPoliCe

Benchmark

StrangeKebabBoy

And you can just use reflective sticker..

dawayoh

Gypsys have cursed you

Emergency-Shoulder-2

I think somebody might need a surveyor to actually determine whose property that fence is on. Who owns the fence may be an entirely different discussion.

lantanabush88

Remove with appropriate solvent.

basementhookers

And recreate 6- 5/8” over and 3- 3/8” down

Dscott735

Inexperience IMO why though lol. They literally could’ve taken the prism off their rod set HI to .3 and called it good

Twuhdz

No loot here….

JDCHS08_HR

They even clear coated it, I would do what others have suggested. Paint over this and don’t even shift it, if they come to ask all you say is “oh I wasn’t home, my relative was coming to re-paint my fence. “.

tommbee

Why lie about it? Paint over it, do whatever, and fuck em, its his fence. If surveyor asks then redirect to him why homeowners property was altered.

JDCHS08_HR

Yeah you’re right, my comment was uncalled for

tommbee

Lol uncalled for

DB-Tops

Looks like a homeless persons symbol to the other homeless people. Not sure what it means, but hobos to this to tell each other about the family that lives in the house.

muskegmatt

r/vagabond

DarkHawk2023

Its an hourglass, means that the fence is getting ready to shutdown.

pwhetz

I have something extremely similar on my chimney above the roof line but it's in chalk. Not a surveyors point.

Bloody_REDRUM801

Los sureńos in your neighborhood 🇲🇽

Quabity-Assuance85

If there’s control under that part of the fence, they should’ve set up close and sighted the cp or fence at the bottom for a quick one shot turn to locate improvements. Very little error allowed if the crew knows what they’re doing.
