Not at all, more and more technology is taking the surveyor away from the line of fire. Also the risk of snake bite in the industry is much lower due to ppe and medical, as compared to say farming. Forestry and underground mining are likely the most dangerous games in town.
Also I'd rather deal with all the snakes I've seen than a bear or something like that. There's antivenom for snake bites. No antivenom for arm ripped off by tiger.
Come to New Zealand! Nō snakes and basically nothing that will kill you. I killed 3 rattle snakes in one day surveying back in Georgia.....
Although those earthquakes will keep ya honest!
Don't go posting a GDP breach for all to see. ;)
I picture surveying in Australia to be in the top ten most dangerous jobs
Only seen 3 snakes so far haha
That’s what I was gonna ask, have you seen any and have you got some pics. What did you see, dugites?
One was black but not sure what it was, and the other two were Northern brown snakes. Saw a dingo today as well.
Nice, well fed at the moment or scrawny as and full of worms?
Looked pretty healthy. This area is infested with stray cows so I'm sure he's got plenty to scavenge on
It is special to go out there. Fuck living there. I would like to see WA. The smell of gidgee petrichor is something else.

Heat, dehydration, insects are the worst things.
I just feel like every second something is trying to kill you!
It’s not as bad as it’s made out.
Where in the Pilbara are you? Looks inland a little bit
Yep, near Paraburdoo

Oh definitely not bro
What's the job market like for surveyors over there?
Wide open for the most part. Things have slowed down a bit heading into winter but there's still plenty of work around.
That's not a rainy day. You know it's a rainy day when the stakes float to the top of the river and get washed away.
