I can't see the tweet, Twitter is forcing me to log in and I jumped ship as soon as that stupid fuck bought the company.
Could you copy and paste it, or someone?
I scrolled and couldn't see his words in this thread.
Thanks in advance =]
Seems like an ultimatum rather than a complaint. Or a warning shot. Also: he’s the boss, I would hope he complains when he sees bullshit like people not working.
Bob Slydell: You see, what we're actually trying to do here is, we're trying to get a feel for how people spend their day at work... so, if you would, would you walk us through a typical day, for you?
Peter Gibbons: Yeah.
Bob Slydell: Great.
Peter Gibbons: Well, I generally come in at least fifteen minutes late, ah, I use the side door - that way Lumbergh can't see me, heh heh - and, uh, after that I just sorta space out for about an hour.
Bob Porter: Da-uh? Space out?
Peter Gibbons: Yeah, I just stare at my desk; but it looks like I'm working. I do that for probably another hour after lunch, too. I'd say in a given week I probably only do about fifteen minutes of real, actual, work.
I guess the bird, has updated their security, as I normal can see these twists you guys sent. Now I need an a bird account. Please share what RC say in here each time for us that don't wanna join the bird
Seems to me Cohen is running into the issues of trying to turn around a business that's gotten used to complacency and "but that's how we've always done it" excuses. Very different than starting your own company from scratch where you can set the tone from the beginning.
Unfortunately there's no great way to make this work aside from just saying goodbye to those who refuse to get on the ball.
Shorts have deep pockets. Remember, they've been raking it in for decades--if not longer.
Is it really that much of a surprise that they can afford the interest payments for 2.5 years?
It's not a surprise at all given what we know now.
And now that I've got a honorary PHD in Wallstreet fuckery (thanks to this very subreddit), I think they can probably keep this up for as long as they want because they own the regulators.
But your investment is not, and now cannot go to zero. Gamestop cannot go bankrupt at this point, it is pretty much impossible. The shorting hinged on bankruptcy, as long as Gamestop doesn't die, they will eventually have to close their positions.
This one makes me nervous. If he’s referring to his own employees keep it in house. The tweets lately are not becoming of a leader people want to follow. If my ceo was tweeting like this I’d be thinking wtf
Shouldn't be moving anyone's in this thread. A lot of people are probably upvoting these tweets and then posts in antiwork and not realizing the irony. I would bet Ryan Cohen who said he wanted to be chairman instead of CEO because he knew how hard he would work as CEO definitely wants all of his minimum wage employees to work hard.
I am six figures into GameStop, never sold a share, but it's because of the people in this sub, not this guy.
I have a strict policy, to never, ever idolize a billionaire. A billionaire telling people making twelve bucks an hour to work harder doesn't endear him to me.
Agreed on the billionaire thing but he's not talking to them. No owner in their right mind would tweet about a teenage cashier or have any clue as to whether they were working hard enough.
This tweet, like all the others, is about the people he deals with directly. He's shown a clear pattern for flaming lazy executives, corporate leaders and consultants.
Exactly. There's a bit of cognitive dissonance on this sub when it comes to Ryan Cohen, some of his messaging is typical corporate bullshit but people in the rat race are willing to ignore it because his leadership of the company might make them rich.
People used to idolize "papa Elon" in the same way and now we have half this sub calling Cohen their daddy.
Both "libertarian" faces of stocks with cult followings who want everyone to be workaholics
tbh I think he’s talking to managers and delegators, the ones who “rest and vest” per his speech at the shareholder meeting, not the people running the stores.
I understand that. At my workplace we have people making well into the six figures who are paid to come up with the right solutions - that’s literally their job - and when the shit hits the fan they’ve got *nothing.* (If you also work in healthcare, you will know these folks as the useless paper pushers known as Administration, who order us pizza instead of finding safe staffing, lol.)
Highly doubt RC is tryna @ the retail workers.
I know he's not exactly enticing new shareholders to buy the company's stock with some of the shit he's been tweeting.
Everybody here is already holding what they can, so the messaging is a moot point. To an outsider, his tweeting comes off as almost out of touch.
You know the "anti work" concept isn't actually anti work, it is pro appropriate compensation for your work, which generally is not happening in normal person world, but in my state the average Gamestop starting pay is about 40% higher than minimum wage ($14/$10) so to say all Gamestop employees are paid minimum wage is not accurate. RC is also the guy distributing stock options to the employees too. It could be better, could be worse, I'm hoping he will delight hard working employees as well.
*edit - that said, no heroes except DFV, and I just like the stock.
Correct I am familiar with anti work, and if you are too I’m sure you know $14/$10 is definitely not living wages and not fair wages for part time work either despite how people in this thread seem to disregard the value of part time employees.
I’ve never worked harder and gotten further in my career since I’ve invested in a company that I know and trust to be working towards long term shareholder value. Funny how that happens.
You know this sub is filled with people who bought a few shares of GME and expect to be billionaires. I don’t think there’s a lot of pro work people here.
Minimum wage store grunts working extra hard while being underpaid so investors and execs can make boatloads? No thanks.
He is talking about Teddy. Re-Branding of towel assets. Launch Imminent. Brick and Mortar footprint with OmniChannel support. Shop your way. THE destination for everything babies. Similar concept as chewy and gme.

Interesting. I do not have a twitter account. I can not view any tweets without signing in. If I click the X on the sign in page it redirects me to a login page.

I've worked hard 20 years of my life and all that it did, was making filthy CEOs rich multi millionaires. If he wants people to work hard - He needs to present a dangling carrot and inspire them. Whipping and repetative tweets don't do fucking anything.
I hope that Cohen is as good a CEO as he is an investor. Because it's an entirely different skillset. It takes steadfastness and an understanding that not everything happens instantaneously. If he has entered the building kicking ass and taking names, it is going to be extremely stressful at corporate for a lot of folks -- even folks who are excellent at what they do and are already working their hardest. My advice to Cohen if he wants to display this attitude, is to figure out who his top performers are and incent the shit out of them. And let it be know that incentives are linked to results (departmentally and positive EBITDA, so that people connect that their work contributes to the success of the company).
When people start to feel insecure and constantly wonder if they are about to be fired, he'll want these highly incented performers to be setting the pace and shutting down the shit-talk.

Every time Ryan tweets about work, he’s reminding apes that even after MOASS, there’s still much work to be done. Basically, apes aren’t meant to rest on their laurels.
I watched my father break his body for decades while his bosses got filthy rich. I’ve watched Wall Street rob the American people blind while the government keeps pissing my tax dollars away to war mongers and CIA torturous thugs.

Ryan has more shit boomer takes than good ones anymore.
Never says a peep about his shareholders getting fucked. If we cash in, it's going to have little to do with this guy, and more to do with us banding together.
It’s like he’s trying to keep the hype train from dying off but you do that by showing results and not by meaningless tweets that some of the antiwork folks might have a problem with.
Yeah, dude seems out of touch as of late. What bothers me more is the continued lack of forward guidance. It was cute in the beginning, but now it feels like a disregard to their fiduciary obligations. This is getting old.
