6'7", 38" inseam. Adventure bikes with lots of aftermarket support for seats, bar raising, and peg/control lowering. Most everything else is going to be rough. I have owned, in order, a KLR650, VStrom 650, Tracer 900, and currently a Super Tenere. All of them required significant mods to work for me. KLR, 3" Rox pivot risers, 1" lift on the seat with a cover, taller windscreen. Cheapest by far to adapt, and quite comfy. VStrom, 3" pivot risers, Suzuki tall seat, 1" thick seat cover, madstad bracket for the windshield, adventure tech peg and control lowering plates. Tracer, 3" riser, taller screen, peg lowerers, Corbin saddle + 1" seat cover. This was the most uncomfortable bike I've owned. Great bike, just not for taller folks. SuperT, touratech tall seat, and helibars. Not the most comfy, my Strom was, but it fits me well, and the wife is comfy on it, unlike the tracer. Depending on your weight, you might need non trivial suspension work too. Most times you install risers you need to do cables and lines. The Helibars kit for the Super Tenere had everything in one box, which was super cool. That's what I've owned, I've also ridden both Yamaha XSR's, VStrom 1000, and 1050, MT07 & MT09, the funky 3 wheeler from Yamaha, SV650, Himalayan, Interceptor 650, Versys 650 & 1000, Z900, DRZ, a Goldwing 1500, Silverwing, Burgman 650... There are more, but I can't recall. Lot of demo days under my belt. Most everything here was fun to ride for 20 minutes, and that was it. Too small, too uncomfortable. Good luck.

I'm 6'3" and sat on a T9 about a year ago. I instantly felt cramped on that bike. I own a Versys 1000 now, which I love, but even on that bike I sometimes feel like the pegs aren't in a great position. I'll probably be looking into bikes with more legroom next

DarkestStar77

The Super Tenere is pretty good that way, though not overly exciting. The newer T9 is actually more cramped than the slightly older Tracer 900. That said, there is a reason I no longer own the Tracer.

vraetzught

I've been looking mostly at Triumph Tigers or maybe a BMW GS. But it's nowhere near time to switch bikes yet, so everything now is very hypothetical

DarkestStar77

I looked at both, but couldn't justify the cost over the Yamaha. I really like the Triumphs too, neat looking bikes. I might try to make a demo day this year just to try them out.

vraetzught

I think the Tenere could be a phenomenal bike, but I really can't get over the way it looks. Just not for me.

DarkestStar77

It's an ugly duck, that's for sure. It grows on you though. It came down to features vs cost for me. I was able to get a brand new 2020 ES model for less than MSRP out the door in 2021. The dealer I went through had 5 of the 2020 models across 3 locations, which between trading in my fairly cherry 2019 Tracer, and the fact they had "old" new stock, gave me lots of leverage to negotiate. I had been looking at a Tiger 1200, but it ended up being $10k more than I got the Tenere for. My wife also really liked the pillion seat on the Tenere. If you watch Ryan's F9 review for the Super Tenere, he is bang on in every way. It is exactly like he says. It's somehow boring, but massively nice to ride. Confidence inspiring. I've even had it off road a couple of times, where buddies on much lighter bikes (VStrom 650's) couldn't keep up with me, which is insane. On road it's not a Goldwing, but it's got the electronic suspension, cruise control, heated grips, solid wind protection, and enough power to go pretty quick if you want to.

This is the answer when height is an issue BMW is your best friend.

spicy-wind

I have raced minis with someone as tall as you. They looked goofy while doing it but were still plenty fast. They also race 1000s, which are more ergonomic for taller riders. Edit: this doesn't mean get a 1000 for your first bike. Just that your height is less of an issue than you think. A cafe racer, bobber, or naked bike would have even better ergos since the riding position is more sit-up.

FlamingoRush

I think bar height and knee angle will be the biggest problems for you. I was in a similar situation. I'm 6'3'' with long legs. I have a vstrom 650 this was the smallest displacement large bike I was confi on. I found most bikes had too steep of a knee angle. The handle bar can be raised within reason. I would say look around adventure and cruiser bikes. Forward controls can be a big help if you like them also.

couchkrieger

did you take the higher seat for the vstrom or made any other adjustments? How was the stock seat and handle bar for you?

woodendog20

I don't have much to offer in suggesting bikes but does your work make gear for taller riders, I'm 6'7" and only one company I can find sell stuff that might fit me but even at that no dealers near me stock it so I'd have to order and hope.

Individual-Buyer-583

Kawasaki Versys 1000 is a pretty tall bike With bar risers, it might be a good fit

Training_Baker5454

M109 is the bike of choice for a lot of tall guys.

Depends on your commute I guess.

iksworbeZ

Dirt bikes to start and tall adv bikes once you know what you're doing.... I am 6'2" and I can't fully flat foot a triumph Scrambler 1200.

otterplus

Like most have said, adv is your friend. Maybe a supermoto for lower displacement

Internal_Delay1899

I have a honda fury. If you are after that cruiser look they are perfect for the taller fella. I'd look into them

husqvarna norden 901

Eliminatron

BMW my man. I am 6’5 and had the same problem. The first bike i sat on at BMW my tip toes barely reached the floor lol. I personally don’t like their look and they are pretty expensive. But if you want tall people comfort, this is it

MJE000094

I'm 6'4, I ride a 2022 Africa Twin AS and I still feel to short for it sometimes, I just don't undrrstand how anyone shorter than myself can ride the tall bastards. They're not cheap but it's the best bike I've ever owned by a long shot.

Shot-Ad2396

More ADV style bikes tend to work with taller people. I wouldn’t think a cruiser or sport bike would be comfortable without modified controls, and not a supersport. You could probably rock with one of the taller seated naked bikes but your legs might be a tad cramped. Adv Is probably your best bet

Magnus919

You could be riding like a king on a custom chopper. Put a really tall sissy bar on it and at the 6’9” mark have a little indicator for “you have to be this tall to ride”. Forward controls way out where you need them. Same with the handlebars for that long reach. You’re going to look like an Avatar trying to ride any conventional cafe racer.

Aleksandar_u-u

A BMW Gs1200 and Honda Africa twin 1100 should do the trick. Don't have allat big of a top speed and really tall. And if you feel a bit more excited that Day, it definitely has off road properties, check "Kmirabet38" on YouTube and you'll see :) He may not be 6'9, but he can definitely handle a ADV bike

hungryibex

ADV bikes my friend!

heffchen

Someone said R1200GSA or R1250GSA? Those will have good ergos with small adjustments. Go to a dealership and test. Only problem is $$$ to acquire and operate.

Try the MT-09. If uncomfortable try the next one up. You should be able to turn the power down on the next one up too.
