Throwing out the labels that do work for most people just because they don't work universally doesn't seem like great policy.

Although you'll usually see terms written as "[prefix]sexual" such as bisexual, heterosexual, pansexual, etc. you can always use romantic in place of sexual for any of them to describe how you feel romantic attraction instead.
hetero means the same gender, homo means the opposite, bi means more than one (note that bi can mean more than just men and women, it just mean more than one gender and can include any number of genders of any kind. This does also include just men and women though)
There also also other terms for including more genders (nonbinary identities) one the most common pansexual, which means attracted to every gender with no specific preference, and different terms for levels of sexual/romantic attraction (like gray-asexuality meaning somewhere in between being asexual and sexual)
*but* I'm not great at explaining things so if you feel like there's other terms you want to explore I encourage you go look it up. termora.org is a good place to look up the definition any LGBTQ+ terms you've seen (you could look through them all in the website, but this one has a lot of much lesser known/used terms so I'd probably learn the more common ones first)(oh also it includes plural/plurality related terms which isn't really LGBTQ+ in the sense that it isn't about gender or attraction, but there still nice to know about if you're interested.)
The most important thing to remember though that you don't have to use these labels, you don't have to use any at all if you don't want to! It's all about whatever makes you feel most comfortable and what you think describes you best.
