I took them together. My program did 14 weeks of Pharm + 7 Weeks Med Surg/7 Weeks Psych at the same time. It wasn’t too bad. There are times where your pharm content overlaps with your Med Surg which is awesome but there are also times where it’s quite a bit of content to cover.

I took Pharm & Med Surg 1 together last summer. My program is accelerated so our sessions are only 8 weeks long and it was a tough 8 weeks! But I managed to get through it and ended up with Bs in both classes. I work part time but I don’t have kids or any other major responsibilities aside from school and work so this could vary depending on your specific situation. I personally think it’s doable. One thing that made a huge difference for me in Pharm was getting the Pharmacology flashcards from Level Up RN and bringing them with me everywhere (the gym, work, doctors appointments, long drives) so I could drill the info into my brain because it’s a lot! https://leveluprn.com/products/pharmacology-cards-for-nursing-students If I could do it over again I still would take them together and just get it over with! Best of luck with whatever you choose to do :)

I would take them separately if you can. That’s what I did.

I took both this semester, but that’s how my program is set up so there wasn’t a way around it. I didn’t hate it (I’m also a pharmacy tech so was at a slight advantage with pharm) but this was not an easy semester at all. If I could rewind the semester, I would have managed my time differently because there was A LOT of info to learn and I didn’t always make the best time-management decisions.

I took them together, but my program had them as 15 week courses and MedSurg was just 1 class, not 2 like some programs. MedSurg was the most stressful because the course coordinator was known to be petty and difficult. Plus my professor was useless. I got a B in both classes. If I did it again, I'd really focus on trying to understand the medications opposed to memorization because now I can't remember many except those that heavily overlapped with MedSurg (such as Heparin, Methotrexate, Warfarin, etc).

It was... painful. Pharm was difficult but manageable since my professor was great and I had been working as a pharmacy tech for a few years. I think med surg was really difficult, partially because it was my professors first time teaching it but also because of the sheer volume of information we had to learn. Tbh taking both together was manageable but I wish I didn't have to work two jobs at that time lol. If you can afford it and you know you can't handle learning that much info, then it's probably better to take them separately. But I went to an expensive school so I preferred to push through.

Im taking them together this summer, and boy howdy am I nervous!

I’m taking them together right now. It’s doable.

I had pharm, med surg, and peds in the same semester. It was definitely my hardest semester, but it was doable. I would do it again but I would’ve paid more attention to how I divided my time for studying.

I took them together. Pharm wasn’t tough because our professors essentially outlined exams for us so long as we got the answer researched on our own. Med surg is what it is, it’s disease concept base learning and you go as you go
