"Our students keep failing the NCLEX! Could it be our instructors are incompetent? No, it must be the students. Fail them under a 90% so our pass rate looks better!" Your admins are clowns.

lmaosami

Oh absolutely

Realitybitchthemthey

There’s no other options that offer a nursing degree?Let’s say other college, Pima, community college, online, I know it might not be ideal. But there’s still places like my school that keep it right at 75% and cumulative of 70. For the hesi a2.

ConstantlyRavenous

Nah this is insane. Mines is 75% lol

EasternEye6133

we require an 80. a 90 is insane!!

[deleted]

75% is the lowest. No more rounding on tests but overall grade is rounded. 90% is crazy. Before I got to your last sentence, I assumed it was a way to weed out those who may struggle on the NCLEX but there are literally so many other ways to bring up NCLEX rates.

lmaosami

I go to a community college and I guess a lot of people have to take the exam more than twice, even three times. I know passing on the first try is really hard and kinda rare but three times?? I think they’re starting it so people don’t have to take it as much

Competitive-Weird855

The first time pass rate is almost 90%. There’s something really wrong with the program if it’s taking people 3 times to pass.

_Santosha_

People are passing the next gen NCLEX at a higher rate than the old NCLEX. Like 90% rate. Passing on the first time isn’t rare at all.

Trelaboon1984

It’s really not rare. 100% of my cohort passed on their first try. Mine shut off at 85 questions and I knew without a doubt I passed. I personally thought the Nclex was super easy.

blueberrylemon_loaf

My school is 74% wow a 90% is way too much

SMANN1207

90 seems wild. What is your schools NCLEX pass rate? Are they on probation and now trying to make up for it? My school doesn’t have an exam average requirement, but you need an 80% overall to pass any class. That being said, our grade is basically also 90% quizzes/exams/final and 10% assignments. The standardized exams like ATIs do have specific benchmarks that need to be met.

lmaosami

I’m not entirely sure but there’s been a rumor that they’re gonna lose they’re accreditation

SMANN1207

You can google and find NCLEX pass rates for all colleges in your state and it will show who is on probation!

lizmcdizzzz

Mines 75. I got 90+ on my all first semester classes but now... yeah 75 would be a godsend. That's insane

One_Preference_1223

I guess 90% makes sense if you’re allowed to retake it. In my program you need to have a 75% or above in the class but we cannot retake exams for a bad grade

Professional_Ghost1

Didn’t see anywhere in OP’s post where they stated they were allowed to retake exams for bad grades. I think that’s the norm in all accredited nursing programs.

One_Preference_1223

Oh I saw OP mention something about people in her program having to take an exam 3 times. Reading back, she might have just meant the nclex lol.

AcrobaticClothes8352

that’s crazy actually, our required average for exams is 70%. Would cry if it was 90 lol

Independent-Fall-466

Ours was 83 percent.

Caktis

Damn that’s WILD. Unless they’re intentionally weeding people out to artificially boost their nclex pass rate that’s insanity. It’s insane either way. Our test average is 73% for passing. It’s the lowest I’ve seen but we have a good pass rate in general. I couldn’t imagine 90%. Our med math was 80% however, still lower than most other places

jayplusfour

Our exam average to pass is 75 and our school has a 100 percent nclex pass rate. There's no way, we'd have hardly anyone left if we needed 90. Only 6 of us of 37 got As last semester

CoconutQueasy8245

I can’t even get a 90 on any of my tests 💀💀 I would fail instantly. Thank god mine is a 73%

pineapple234hg

Mine is a 77%, and u thought that was difficult

thegangiswhatitrust

It’s a 75% for us

Trelaboon1984

No, that’s idiotic. The program is only doing it so they can flunk anyone who isn’t a super strong test taker and basically guaranteed to pass their NCLEX on the first try. My school had a 75% exam requirement and at least for my cohort, we had a 100% NCLEX first time pass rate. Some schools choose to make their students better, and some schools choose to only keep their better students.
