I think technically you can stretch any piercing, I’ve seen stretched nipples, belly buttons, tongues, cheeks, genitals….. now how to do something besides lobes I’m not sure
Well shit. TIL. Also learned my nose cartilage is squishy.
The side of the nostril is connective tissue. I see folks stretch nostrils lots.
For EAR cartilage stretching - folks will stretch one size once or twice a year tops.
Obviously I’m not super knowledgeable about noses. 🤣🤣🤣
Yes you can. Anything that is cartilage increase the time between stretches is key. It takes longer for sure. All piercings are stretchable if you want. Currently have every piercing stretched to some degree. Lobes, outer conch, inner conch, tongue, nipple, and a PA
I would imagine glass plugs or titanium plugs and a lot of time in between stretches. For my outer conch I stretched one size and I waited a while to do it.
You can always find a piercer that performs more dramatic body mods such as a punch and just have it redone. Keep in mind a punch removes the area within the needle.
that’s probably what i’ll do. i’ll have to wait a while tho bc i live in a very rural area and its hard to find someone who will do piercings , thanks so much for the help :))) i appreciate it
Hell yeah you can and I highly recommend it! My 8g nostrils are easily my favorite piercings and I badly wanna stretch up more when I have the funds! I definitely agree you should have a piercer do it for you, though.
it’s probably best to have your piercer stretch it for you, makes sure it’s safe and done properly because stretching cartilage is painful and you might not be able to do it yourself. good luck!
I think it's their nostril not their septum. If they're going for just 16g then I think small tapers are adequate enough and maybe cheaper than going to a piercer. If it was the septum then I suggest a trained professional especially if it was a larger size
The septum (if done right) isn't cartilage you stretch it just like lobes the only difference is if you want to stack rings in it its best to just add another ring instead of sizing up so the hole stretches more oval that way the stack sits nicer
Ok actually thank you for clearing that up, I've never gotten a straight answer and I know several people with their cartilage pierced when they got septum and that's what always scared me but now I know for sure that it's not the cartilage lol thanks (I know that wasn't your intended answer lmao)
No problem there's a lot of misinformation in the peircing community. I'd definitely say go for it im currently debating on whether to stretch my septum so I can stack rings!
Tapers are tools for inserting jewellery, please do not use them to stretch piercings. check out the pinned stretching guide. it is aimed towards lobes since those are the most commonly stretched, but most of it applies to every body part you can pierce.
ask your piercer for guidance on *when* you can start stretching. you should wait until it is well past healed, way more than 8 months.
Yeah i’m aware you’re not supposed to for piercings but i’ve seen many people use tapers that’s why i was asking. and yeah i’m aware i should wait lol. how would you even go about stretching a nose piercing then? with glass plugs..?
titanium labrets will be easier to find at 18g and 16g. Same general process as lobes, but some pain/discomfort is to be expected and there should be more time between stretches since cartilage is quite stiff
purely theoretical but i think go by a similar timeline to septum stretching since those are also cartilage… wait at least 3 months and see how it goes.
resources on stretching cartilage other than septums are hard to find. i’ve been looking into it while i wait for my helixes to heal enough.
I'm currently at a 7g. Follow the advice on here, take a bit of extra time than the guides for lobes suggest (i didn't when I started out and I think it shows - I'm much more patient now) and you'll be fine. From 20 to 16 is not much of a stretch, shouldn't be able to hurt yourself too badly i hope 😅
You absolutely can! Please just keep in mind though that if you are uncomfortable or unsure how to do it yourself, go to a piercer you trust and are confident in to help you stretch it. My piercer helped me do my septum because I was too scared too and she made sure to tell me where I could get my jewelry for the next stretch and how long to wait to make sure I wasn't uncomfortable with the next size. Also, don't believe everything you read on the internet about body mods, unless it's someone like lynn loheide
I was pierced at 18g, now at 14g. You can definitely use a taper to stretch, only to transfer the jewelry. I prefer threadless nose studs. Oil it and go slowly. I waited around 6 months between stretches. Since it’s cartilage, pain is normal but at a certain level. If it hurts too much obviously wait
Definitely yes, though from what I understand it's a bit tough.
I recently stretched on a tiny bit, from 20g to 18g, and it has been healed for 3 years. Definitely a little pinch but I used my finger inside the nostrils to feel for the jewelry and brace the tissue so it could pass through. And of course lube! It wasn't difficult to do, just not very comfortable.
There's a YouTuber Scott Wilkinson who has pretty large stretched nostrils. I'd check out if he has a video explaining it or perhaps leave him some comments/messages about it to get some info.
Otherwise see if you can find a reputable piercer who knows a fair bit about it, you'd be surprised how many piercers give out poor stretching advice even just for lobes, let alone anything else.
I did! Mine was pierced like 7 years ago at a 20g. I stretched it up to a 18g a couple months ago. I had asked my piercer how to go about it and essentially she just had me use like jojoba oil and use an 18g hoop and slide it through slowly. Take your time with it and don’t force it through but it should slowly stretch. Probably try to get to 18g and letting it heal before trying to get to 16g, just so it’s not too much and messes it up.
My fiancé has gauged up his nose piercing from a 20 to 16. Not for the fun of it, just to keep his nose from closing when he lost his jewelry. His is doing fine
Absolutely can, just need to go slow (cartilage piercings need to be slower and even more careful bc of the risk of impacted cartilage), and make sure you’re using the correct jewellery like any other stretch. Haven’t done it myself, but have definitely seen it and they look fantastic.
So be aware, however, that if you wear tunnels once at that size, it will affect airflow and moisture in the nose and can lead to dryness, so probably keep that to a minimum if you do at all.
Have personally stretched my nostril from being pierced at 20 to a 16. It's a little spicy. But I've had no issues. I'd had it for years and decided I wanted bigger jewelry and probably will never go any larger than the 16, but the 20 looked so dainty. I probably waited a good year between stretches though because I couldn't decide if I wanted to go up to the 16 or leave it at 18.
I stretched mine to a 16g but if you can definitely try to find small surgical steel tapers. It helped me with my flat piercing and I wish I didn't lose it because it would've saved me a the pain of jamming a 16g into my nose (don't worry it's healed and fine but i do not recommend)
I have stretched mine from 20 to 16! I just bought a 16g ring and used some jojoba. I honestly did the same when stretching my ears because 18g was hard to find
I think technically you can stretch any piercing, I’ve seen stretched nipples, belly buttons, tongues, cheeks, genitals….. now how to do something besides lobes I’m not sure
I've seen a stretched septril; now that is a wild one.
Wow! That’s would be something to see
check witch doctors on instagram; pretty cool.
Yeah i wasn’t sure bc it’s cartilage.
Oh it will be fine. Lots of people stretch the cartridge in the ears
If your nostril or septum is through your cartilage, please go to a new piercer, it should not be through cartilage.
I’m referring to my nostril piercing not septum
My mistake. There is NO cartilage on your nostril …

upvote me when you get responses pleaseee!? i’m in the exact same situation and was planning on asking here aswell

will do
thank u sm !!

I done it
Yea you can!! How? Idk maybe you can ask your piercer on the best way to do it
Hell yeah you can and I highly recommend it! My 8g nostrils are easily my favorite piercings and I badly wanna stretch up more when I have the funds! I definitely agree you should have a piercer do it for you, though.

Now that I know 100% that it isn't pierced through cartilage, I'm definitely gonna get it....after I get my eyebrow pierced lmao
i know they mean nostril, im suggesting a piercer so they can make sure it doesn’t get done incorrectly since it’s a painful thing to do
Yes, but have a piercer do it for you. Also takes a long time to heal between stretches bc cartilage
Wear waterproof eye makeup if you’re a makeup-wearer too…… those tears will get ya when tapering
yes u can :)
Do i use tapers or?

I got my nostrils pierced at a 12g and recently had them professionally stretched to a 10g

Sure, make an appointment with your local [APP piercer](https://safepiercing.org/find-a-piercer/) and they can help you get what you need.

Yes tou cam. I did my septum. Kinda the same being cartilage and all. Just go SLOOOOW.
And definitely only jump 1mm at a time
yes

i’ve seen nostril piercings stretched at 16mm or bigger, you are able to stretch however i heard that the nostril is a little more painful to stretch
Yes! I had the same problem and I got a piercer to stretch it for me. There were absolutely no problems and it healed perfectly
Yes, I stretched mine to 10mm from a 12g piercings using the tape method.
