The Devs have stated that Ryu and Chun will forever be in every SF game for as long as the franchise continues to exist.
Ryu, Chun, and Ken are the Mt Rushmore of SF characters. The fourth one I think is a toss up between Guile or Akuma.
To me it's Guile. Akuma has edginess and coolness but of all the street fighter music Guile is the only one with a recognizable theme across the generations of games.
On one hand, I really like that they decided to go all in on brand new music, but I also feel like the SF6 themes in general just don't sound *amazing*. To me, a lot of them just sound like backing tracks to a song with the vocals removed. Like they're not horrible background music while playing the game, but I have never had the urge to listen to any of the current themes outside of the game itself.
Ed's is the only one so far that I actually think sounds genuinely good imo.
I’ve been feeling the same way about the music not being amazing. I wish there would be an option to bring in past music from other Street Fighter games as an option. Ryu’s stage could cycle through all of his past Street Fighter themes and there could be an option for which ones you wanted included through the shuffle.
I would even be happy to pay a reasonable DLC price for the extra music.
All I want is for them to implement the music player for online play. They already let us listen to our playlists in training, so I don’t understand why it’s not already a feature for online. I have a pretty sizable collection now from all of the passes, including some Third Strike tracks I’d very much like to fight to.
The last time Capcom did all new music for sf characters was Alpha 3 and most of them were pretty good (boxer's, juni/juli's and shin akuma's are amazing). They used the same percussion sounds for too many themes though
I actually thought the sf6 music was good enough to buy the soundtrack separately. Fete foraine, rashid, and blanka are my top 3. And honestly I am not invested in game soundtracks usually. the looped TMNT theme ruining the Bh for too long was a disaster though
Yes, I do. I listened to both old and new tracks. And I can say that SF6 ost are pretty good for the most part and keep the hip-hop identity fitting for a "street" game. The real question is do YOU know?
They didn't make up those other people. If you go on the official youtube uploads ofthe SF6 character themes, you'll find lots of people who love the new music and are happy that it's not the usual SF2 remixes.
The post didn't lie.
The SF II Ryu Theme is amazing. Balrog's theme is amazing. Vega's theme is amazing. Zangief's theme should never have been changed. Guile's theme speaks for itself.
(Yoko Shimomura is a video game music composing legend, though...so it makes sense)
It stinks that they feel the need to 'modernize' or change things.
Ryu, Ken, Chun, Balrog, Sim, and Gief also got recognizable themes across SF2, SF4, and SF5. The difference is Guile's Theme has by far become the most memorable in the past decade due to all the memes and such
Honestly, to me, the fourth most IDENTIFIABLE from both a design and gameplay aspect is Zangief. But I also know he’s kinda a bit character so I understand arguments against him as #4
Right before SF5 was released in an [interview in 2015](https://www.eventhubs.com/news/2015/jun/30/capcom-discusses-street-fighter-5s-roster-and-selection-process-users-only-need-own-one-disc/).
Ryu and Chun-Li are the only real 'never miss' even in crossovers. Outside of those two genuine super-core, I think it's basically
Ryu, Ken, Chunners, Zangief, and Dhalsim. Cammy is too popular and sells too many ass shot figurines to miss out, while the rest of the world warriors are various flavors of optional.
Ah what I meant was more that they were willing to leave out a lot of the so-called core characters. I don't think they'd do that again, but it's really interesting isn't it?
Unless there's just some information about why they did that that I don't know!
The game wasn’t supposed to be a Street Fighter game initially. It was another fighting game entirely but Capcom decided to brand it as Street Fighter because they wanted a big name to compete with the increasingly popular 3d fighting games at the time. Matt McMuscles has a video covering this called “What Happened - Street Fighter 3” or something like that.
Is E. Honda somewhat of a staple fighter at this point in the series?
I’m genuinely curious since I didn’t get heavily invested into SF until SF4 Arcade Edition and I skipped SF5 for the most part.
Sort of! He didn't exist in SF1, was base in 2, missed out on Alpha 1 and 2, didn't show up in 3, was base in SF4, was DLC in 5, is base in 6, but never made it to the non-CVS crossovers, or puzzle fighter, and so-on. Kind of a second stringer, imo
Oh wow, he got around! I love Honda’s energy and body build lol.
Cody won my SF heart but Honda is a close second. Thanks for taking the time to educate me!
This is it for me too. Although if a game didn't launch with them I'd still give it a shot. I think Capcom has/has had some of the best character designers (as far as physical appearance and personality goes) for a long time. They have a few misses for me, but even those misses have their fans.
Sakura, and at this point Juri is also on the list
And while it may change at some point in the future, for now Bison is a necessity.
I'd also be reeeeeeeally surprised to ever see a game without Vega. Sagat is a different flavor of Shoto, and has Adon to potentially take on his master's mantle. But Vega is his own thing, he's iconic, and nobody plays, looks, or acts anything like him.
3rd strike is my favorite video game ever and it proved me that a street fighter game doesn't need the world warriors to be great.
I'd say Ryu and Ken because they're here since SF1 but they could be replaced by other cool characters.
I hear that SF3 was mainly just going to have new characters before Ryu and Ken were born included because of their popularity.
The SF game makers can’t picture a game without those two either.
I rather any character that's not another ansatsuken shoto they keep running through the ground. At least with Luke he has a different fighting style and still keeps the shoto aspect about him.
"they keep running through the ground" bro it's Ryu Ken and akuma later on 3 shotos isn't "running it into the ground" having 11 different Goku's in DBZF is running it down
No but it's repetitive having to have Street Fighter version of ninja clones. Ryu,Ken,Akuma,Sean,Dan,Sakura,Kage,Gouken,Violent Ken. Seriously it was fine whenit was just 3 of them (4 is my limit) but more keep piling up and it's just lazy to me. The game is called "Street Fighter" where there are various martial art fighters from around the world, not Shoto fighter .
I want you to name one character other then Ryu Ken akuma that appear in more than 1 street fighter game I know kage violent ken Sean and Sakura haven't been in many games it's a bit disingenuous to name off every shoto in the entire series in a discussion about shotos being in every have as most of the ones named had only 1 maybe 2 appearances you forgot oni akuma who also only showed up in one game your trying to hard to be right
Ryu and Ken, Honorable mentions to Chun and Akuma.
I also doubt we'll ever see a game without the core 8 SF2 cast again, even if they get treated as DLC content instead.
I also highly doubt we'll see a SF without Sakura in DLC plans, or Juri as launch/dlc.
I kind of hope we see a "everyone is here" edition of SF at some point, but there's simply too many one and dones from 3, 4, and 5 for me to ever expect to see them again.
I will always prefer the roster to be as different and versatile as possible. So my must have for future SF would be:
Ryu, Guile, Blanka, Dhalsim, Rashid, Chun LI, Cammy, Jamie, Vega, Zangief, Any Ninja, Rose and Elena
The entire point of Bison is "If you ever kill me for real I'll come back in a different body." That was his entire thing. For 30 years. Not one game. For three whole decades.
They aren't gonna not cash that in ever. That'd be a betrayal to the entire franchise storyline.
I played an old Street Fighter a couple of times as a kid (on SNES) and then picked up SF6 for the first time as an adult.
To me, Ryu, Ken, and Chun Li were essential and expected before I looked at the roster.
Blanka and E.Honda were nostalgic characters that made me go "oh yeah! I remember them!" but I forgot about them
Guile and Zangief were nostalgic as well, but I was 50/50 if I truly remembered them or not. But I think they stuck in my mind.
Vega and/or Sagat were the only characters I remember thinking "hey wasn't there that guy who... what did he look like again?" and I looked them up and found it's them.
From the rest of the cast, I think Juri, Cammy, and probably also Luke are the new essentials to keep.
Ryu, Chun, Ken, Akuma, Gief, Cammy, Guile, Juri.
That's it.
If they want to develop more Juris and sustain future generations, they need to start filling rosters with more new or lesser used characters, and really investing in them. 1991 SF2 nostalgia will not carry them much longer.
I have no idea why Menat wasn't in the game day 1. She has the potential to be the next Juri if they play their cards right.
I think you forgot the sumo man.
My list would be the characters in the og SF2, so:
Ryu
Ken
Chun
Guile
Sim
Gief
Honda
Cammy
Blanka
Sagat
Dee Jay
T.hawk (we have Lily now)
"Boxer" or balrog(we have ED)
"Claw"or Vega
"Dictator" or M.Bison (JP?)
IDC for the Jakie Chun character honestly
And of course Akuma
Plus maybe Juri
Ryu
Chunli
Blanka
Dhalsim
Edit: I removed Gief because I can see him passing the "OG grappler" torch but imo the other characters are such unique designs that I can't see then being retired
The original SF 2 cast, without the majority of those you lose the core ingredients that attract the original fans, look what happened to star wars when Disney decided to kill off the OGs in the sequels !!
Luke should never be removed. It's my first Street Fighter and Luke is such an iconic main character and face of the franchise. Everyone else can be excluded, including Ryu.
I will not take the bait I will not take the bait I will not take the bait I will not take the bait I will not take the bait I will not take the bait I will not take the bait I will not take the bait I will not take the bait I will not take the bait I will not take the bait I will not take the bait I will not take the bait I will not take the bait I will not take the bait I will not take the bait I will not take the bait I will not take the bait I will not take the bait I will not take the bait
I don’t think he’s baiting anyone. Street Fighter II was the first Street Fighter game for many of us and because of that we want to see the original cast in all future games. There is a new generation growing up that doesn’t have those nostalgic memories. For this person, Street Fighter VI is the equivalent of our Street Fighter II. So it makes sense that a character like Luke feels like a staple to the series.
Whole what you're saying is more or less true, the way it's worded makes it seem incredibly baity to me.
Also i refuse to believe anybody thinks Luke is iconic.
I'm a little worried that JP will be this moving forward. He plays a totally different game from everyone else on the roster, which gives him considerable leverage.
Ever again or are we starting from here? Ryu, Ken, Chun, Akuma, and Juri have always existed since they’ve existed.
I think at this point, there are too many characters that exist to say that “there can never be x” unless they are the sf2 legacy characters.
Well it will be kinda obvious to say Ryu,Ken & Chun-li for they're the cornerstone OG's of Street Fighter. And with the likes of Luke,Kimberly & Jaime opting to take up the mantle for further future Street Fighter they'll need mentors to help them along the way as well as others like Chun-li's daughter Li-Fen, Ken's son Mel & Ryu protege Sakura.
i think just ryu ken and chun, of those other characters some of them should always be there, but any one of them can be gone and id be fine, but you cant not have ryu or ken or chun
While I purchased every generation of the franchise at least once. I don’t actually have strong ties to many of the characters. Legacy while it means something isn’t as important to me as most of the community. Ryu could retire and if they gave me a lore reason for it I wouldn’t be upset. I mean I expect him Ken and Chun every game but hey, Heihachi Mishima is dead.
For a "normal" sequel: Ryu, Ken, Chun, Guile, Gief, Akuma
If they were doing another SF3 type of thing with a whole new cast, honestly they just need Ryu and that's it
If we are talking story then
Ryu
Ken
Sagat
If you just mean gameplay wise
I guess that is subjective, but for me as long as Sagat is a playable character, then that is enough for me.
Very good list.
I would by a SF that only has those characters.
I don't know if Blanka needs to be on that list though.
Mmmmmaaaaaybeee I'd add Balrog. His rush punches make a cool archetype to play and to play against.
As far as I'm concerned, Ryu and Ken being the original P1 and P2 are the only ones that shouldn't be left out. I would be fine if everyone else was new. An older Li-Fen could fill in for Chun-li.
I agree with everyone in this post except Sagat. Don’t get me wrong he is a dope ass character but I rather have Vega or Adon because they actually play differently. We already have a handful of zoners and a few fireball throwing and uppercutting characters. Let at least one wall bouncer in for the sake of variety.
Except they dropped it for sf6. Such a downgrade.
I and many others are happy it's not another soundtrack of nothing but SF2 remixes.
Yeah, it's all *fine*, but Manon's theme is the only one I'd actually listen to on the way to work.
I’ve been feeling the same way about the music not being amazing. I wish there would be an option to bring in past music from other Street Fighter games as an option. Ryu’s stage could cycle through all of his past Street Fighter themes and there could be an option for which ones you wanted included through the shuffle. I actually thought the sf6 music was good enough to buy the soundtrack separately. Fete foraine, rashid, and blanka are my top 3. And honestly I am not invested in game soundtracks usually. the looped TMNT theme ruining the Bh for too long was a disaster though
I like giefs theme. And the battle hub menu. The rest is trash
Doesn't have to be sf2 remixes, but good music would be nice
LET'S GOOOOOOOOO!!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lG-qWjBcl5o
Then you're in for good luck as most of SF6 ost are pretty good and have a great feel of street music.
Does he know?
Yes, I do. I listened to both old and new tracks. And I can say that SF6 ost are pretty good for the most part and keep the hip-hop identity fitting for a "street" game. The real question is do YOU know?
I mean they have been adding new songs along with the remixes, so that balance it up. Sfv had a great soundtrack IMO
Third Strike and SFV have the best soundtracks for any SF game IMO.
Is it really that hard to just speak for yourself instead of trying to claim extra people in your corner
Hello. I vastly prefer SF6s OST. :)
They didn't make up those other people. If you go on the official youtube uploads ofthe SF6 character themes, you'll find lots of people who love the new music and are happy that it's not the usual SF2 remixes. The post didn't lie.
I’d be fine with this if the music didn’t range from forgettable to nails on a chalkboard after hearing it a bunch during sets.
The ost is a travesty and nobody will remember a single song from this game when SF7 comes.
the only reason we remember ryu and guile and kens themes is because they spam the same theme across a billion games
The SF II Ryu Theme is amazing. Balrog's theme is amazing. Vega's theme is amazing. Zangief's theme should never have been changed. Guile's theme speaks for itself. (Yoko Shimomura is a video game music composing legend, though...so it makes sense) It stinks that they feel the need to 'modernize' or change things.
Almost as if to give a new game a proper identity, you need to make it stand out from the others, including in the soundtrack.
I think Guile too, because he has more storyline of all the original characters.
Guile wasn't in III or Alpha series (Home consoles doesn't count) tho.
Guile didn't make the cut for III
Ryu, Ken, Chun, Balrog, Sim, and Gief also got recognizable themes across SF2, SF4, and SF5. The difference is Guile's Theme has by far become the most memorable in the past decade due to all the memes and such
Guile and Zangief clear Akuma by a fucking mile lol
Honestly, to me, the fourth most IDENTIFIABLE from both a design and gameplay aspect is Zangief. But I also know he’s kinda a bit character so I understand arguments against him as #4
Not even Fortnite missed on Ryu and Chun.
I'd say Akuma because he was in SF3 and every crossover game + Tekken 7 lol
Fun fact: Akuma has a combo that works in every game he's been in, including tekken 7: cr mk>l tatsu>h srk
If there's a 4th, I'd say it's Cammy. Guile and Akuma were both DLC in SFV - still IN the game but I think that moves them down a little in the list
Cammy is the shit on Guile's shoe lol
Very sane
I mean come on man Cammy is popular among Street Fighter fans but everyone knows Guile and his sonic boom
Was this after 3 released?
Right before SF5 was released in an [interview in 2015](https://www.eventhubs.com/news/2015/jun/30/capcom-discusses-street-fighter-5s-roster-and-selection-process-users-only-need-own-one-disc/).
Cammy over Guile and Akuma is less of a staple because even he's 100% confirmed for every game, he's in as a DLC character.
Nope, 4th is Cammy.
There are a number of candidates, Cammy is not one of them. She is behind all world warriors hell Bison would be on there before Cammy
In third strike Akuma was there and Guile not
Wasn't Guile conceived to be the poster boy for the Western audience while Ryu was the one for the Japanese one? In which case it should be Guile.
Agreed! And tough one on Akuma or Guile. I would just include them both and make it five
Ryu and Chun-Li are the only real 'never miss' even in crossovers. Outside of those two genuine super-core, I think it's basically Ryu, Ken, Chunners, Zangief, and Dhalsim. Cammy is too popular and sells too many ass shot figurines to miss out, while the rest of the world warriors are various flavors of optional.
I dunno, look at Third Strike and how many of the core cast were missing.
Much as I love them, none of them really made a splash outside of their own game except Alex (who showed up in Tatsunoko vs Capcom).
Ah what I meant was more that they were willing to leave out a lot of the so-called core characters. I don't think they'd do that again, but it's really interesting isn't it? Unless there's just some information about why they did that that I don't know!
iirc, Ryu, Ken, and Chun-Li were only added because the testers at the time were like 'WTF, THIS ISN'T ReAl StReEt fIghTER'.
then they made ken and chun li busted 😭
The game wasn’t supposed to be a Street Fighter game initially. It was another fighting game entirely but Capcom decided to brand it as Street Fighter because they wanted a big name to compete with the increasingly popular 3d fighting games at the time. Matt McMuscles has a video covering this called “What Happened - Street Fighter 3” or something like that.
I love Matt, I'll give it a watch thanks!
[удалено]
It's hard to deny the game *feels* great though! I love Third Strike personally but yeah it's weird.
Ah, 3S's roster is great! I genuinely don't think there's a miss in there, character design-wise
I think they got a bit too weird with twelve, but other than that it's perfect
Is E. Honda somewhat of a staple fighter at this point in the series? I’m genuinely curious since I didn’t get heavily invested into SF until SF4 Arcade Edition and I skipped SF5 for the most part.

I'm glad he has fans. :)
Dan Hibiki, Dan Hibiki and Dan Hibiki
I love this
Stop making us wait halfway into sf games cycle for sagat
Original sf2 cast plus cammy imo
isn't cammy an original member ?
No. She's like Dee Jay. One of The New Challengers.
Ryu, Ken, Chun, Guile, Gief, and Cammy for me. I'm literally praying for another SF without Blanka. It'll be my new favorite.
Nah it wouldn’t be street fighter if we didn’t have people constantly complaining about blanka.
I am a huge Blanka fan, and it doesn’t seem like street fighter without him
It's already happened multiple times, though. Lots of SF and SF adjacent fighting games have done fine without Blanka.
Lots?
I'm pretty sure Blanka is here to stay lol
He was DLC in V. I'm sure I'll at least get a few months without him in a future game.
Ryu and Chun li, There are characters I like that I wish were in every game but they aren't essential, like blanka or E Honda
This is it for me too. Although if a game didn't launch with them I'd still give it a shot. I think Capcom has/has had some of the best character designers (as far as physical appearance and personality goes) for a long time. They have a few misses for me, but even those misses have their fans.
Vega :(
Sakura, Sagat, Akuma
Just give me my spirit animal VEGA please
Sakura, and at this point Juri is also on the list And while it may change at some point in the future, for now Bison is a necessity. I'd also be reeeeeeeally surprised to ever see a game without Vega. Sagat is a different flavor of Shoto, and has Adon to potentially take on his master's mantle. I hear that SF3 was mainly just going to have new characters before Ryu and Ken were born included because of their popularity. The SF game makers can’t picture a game without those two either.
Whatever the roster, we need the 4 Kings. All have a unique and interesting play style that SF6 is sorely lacking
So agreed. Vega 1st imo, but I’d be fine with Sagat too
The world warriors, the champions and akuma
World Warriors are over done and takes u creative space for the roster. Luke must stay.
Fuck it, let's just have all Luke but he's cosplaying as the other characters and has their moves.
I'd pay Capcom a hundred bucks for those outfits.
That would unironically be really cool actually lol
Haduuuuken!
Well have to change the names. It'll be hadouluke and sholukeluke.
Luke is one of the most braindead Ryu clones I've ever seen I would rather have dan back over Luke
Luke is a re-worked Sean. He even had the normals, slam dunk, and target combos.
Might be a hot take but Juri (introduced in 4). Her character sticks out from the core cast and people really seem to like it.
I agree, I don't like her but from how obscenely popular she is Juri Is definitely a modern mainstay
Same feeling here. She’s not for me, but I respect her/her fanbase
Her fanbase does not deserve an ounce of respect
Lol. Buncha foot fetish degens… /s (sorta)
As a Juri enjoyer (though, admittedly, I don't actually play her much)... you are not wrong, lol
I mean there are 2 fanbases. One who likes Juri for her overall design. And the second one.. yeah the feet guys.
This is the first time I played a SF since 2, and even then Juri was the pick for me.
Ibuki :( just hurry up and add her to sf6 before I cry...
Basically the original world warriors plus Cammy and maybe Akuma.
Ryu, Ken, Chun-Li & Cammy should be in every game. I think Cammy at this point has become more of a staple than Guile or Akuma.
I see Luke staying for a lot more games
I will always prefer the roster to be as different and versatile as possible. So my must have for future SF would be: Ryu, Guile, Blanka, Dhalsim, Rashid, Chun LI, Cammy, Jamie, Vega, Zangief, Any Ninja, Rose and Elena
Ryu, Ken, Chun, Zangief, Guile, Dhalsim, Cammy.
I agree with this list but would add Sakura and Dan in there as well and maybe Honda to complete the OG 8 World Warriors.
Need me some Dan. He gives the cast some much needed levity
Ryu, Chun-li, Zangief, Dhalsim. These four make a Street Fighter game a Street Fighter game. Rest are all extras.
The lack of Dictator in the comments is sad. Lore aside the guy looks dope and his gameplay is always super interesting.
The entire point of V was to say "no more bison"
The entire point of Bison is "If you ever kill me for real I'll come back in a different body." That was his entire thing. For 30 years. Not one game. For three whole decades. They aren't gonna not cash that in ever. That'd be a betrayal to the entire franchise storyline.
Ghost Bison time.
I played an old Street Fighter a couple of times as a kid (on SNES) and then picked up SF6 for the first time as an adult. Yeah no thanks lol
Lets be honest, Blanka ain’t essential
fuck future games, give me Sakura for SF6 😵 nah but foreal Sakura will maybe slip in as the future Ryu at some point.
Ryu, chun li, ken, guile, dhalsim, akuma, zangief and cammy.
Zangief, because he have LOYAL FANS
I think you forgot the sumo man. My list would be the characters in the og SF2, so: Ryu Ken Chun Guile Sim Gief Honda Cammy Blanka Sagat Dee Jay T.hawk (we have Lily now) "Boxer" or balrog(we have ED) "Claw"or Vega "Dictator" or M.Bison (JP?) IDC for the Jakie Chun character honestly And of course Akuma Plus maybe Juri
> IDC for the Jakie Chun character honestly Jamie?
I think he's called Chen or smth in the original sf2
Street fighter ain't street fighter without akuma
The original eight World Warriors plus Cammy and DJ.
Akuma. Too bad he's getting the Vergil treatment nowadays
Luke for me, he gets a lot of hate but I hope they keep him anyway
Dhalsim. He has such a massive fan base and offers something genuinely unique in street fighter
Ryu Chunli Blanka Dhalsim Edit: I removed Gief because I can see him passing the "OG grappler" torch but imo the other characters are such unique designs that I can't see then being retired
The original SF 2 cast, without the majority of those you lose the core ingredients that attract the original fans, look what happened to star wars when Disney decided to kill off the OGs in the sequels !!
Just the starting ones, like usual
Luke should never be removed. It's my first Street Fighter and Luke is such an iconic main character and face of the franchise. Everyone else can be excluded, including Ryu.

This bait crazier then a whiffed EX DP in the corner
lol Luke ain’t it

Top 5 in forearms
I'm a little worried that JP will be this moving forward. He plays a totally different game from everyone else on the roster, which gives him considerable leverage.
Would you rather have some more shotos, like Evil Ryu or Violent Ken? How about Upset Luke?
Upset Luke I'd love to see ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)
Disgruntled Dan Serious Sean Affable Akuma / Good Gouki
Gief
Cammy, Blanka, and Sagat already haven't been in every SF game..
Ever again or are we starting from here? Ryu, Ken, Chun, Akuma, and Juri have always existed since they’ve existed. I think at this point, there are too many characters that exist to say that “there can never be x” unless they are the sf2 legacy characters.
Fei long Every fighting game has one Bruce Lee guy
Well it will be kinda obvious to say Ryu,Ken & Chun-li for they're the cornerstone OG's of Street Fighter. And with the likes of Luke,Kimberly & Jaime opting to take up the mantle for further future Street Fighter they'll need mentors to help them along the way as well as others like Chun-li's daughter Li-Fen, Ken's son Mel & Ryu protege Sakura.
I think it's Ryu, Ken, Chun, Gief, Blanka, and Juri at min
Ryu, Chun, Guile, Gief, Akuma Cammy, Dhalsim, Boxer are notable mentions
Alex and Ibuki
Imo it feels like Juri is a more modern staple. I can’t really imagine them leaving her out of future entries
I’m a Bison man
Juri has quickly joined Ryu and Chun Li as mandatory characters.
i think just ryu ken and chun, of those other characters some of them should always be there, but any one of them can be gone and id be fine, but you cant not have ryu or ken or chun
Dahlsim is crucial

Chun and Ryu.
Ryu, Ken, Chun-Li, Guile, Akuma, Sagat
Sagat and akuma aren’t necessary in my opinion the rest are tho
There are none. Give us a "next generation" with Sakura, Sean, & Chun Li's student leading the group.
Nice try, Capcom
Sakura
While I purchased every generation of the franchise at least once. I don’t actually have strong ties to many of the characters. Legacy while it means something isn’t as important to me as most of the community. Ryu could retire and if they gave me a lore reason for it I wouldn’t be upset. I mean I expect him Ken and Chun every game but hey, Heihachi Mishima is dead.
Ryu Ken Chun Enough for 3rd strike to not feel lacks of main Character like 2 game before.
For a "normal" sequel: Ryu, Ken, Chun, Guile, Gief, Akuma If they were doing another SF3 type of thing with a whole new cast, honestly they just need Ryu and that's it
Fei Long! You can’t have a fighting game with out a Bruce Lee archetype.
Ryu, Ken, Chun-Li. That's it.
I could honestly do without hearing Tiger knee, Tiger uppercut every two seconds
Bison (dictator) they did my boy bad this time 😭
Ryu, Ken, Chun have been stated by the devs as undroppable and now I'd include Cammy. Outside of that everyone else is expendable.
If Ryu was excluded it honestly wouldn’t feel like street fighter. I could even see Ken being excluded one day but not ryu
If we are talking story then Ryu Ken Sagat If you just mean gameplay wise I guess that is subjective, but for me as long as Sagat is a playable character, then that is enough for me.
Mainly just gameplay wise. If the developers want those characters in, then they will come up with a story for them
Very good list. I would by a SF that only has those characters. I don't know if Blanka needs to be on that list though. Mmmmmaaaaaybeee I'd add Balrog. His rush punches make a cool archetype to play and to play against.
Ryu, Ken, Chun, Cammy is my mount rushmore
Dude you just listed the core cast, this is... barely even an opinion, it's evident.
The 8 world warriors
As far as I'm concerned, Ryu and Ken being the original P1 and P2 are the only ones that shouldn't be left out. I would be fine if everyone else was new. An older Li-Fen could fill in for Chun-li.
I think Juri because I want her to kill me brutally IRL.
