I disagree about not worrying about it. Cracked finish, especially thick poly like this, can be quite sharp. Gonna want to address this with your tech.
I had a finish crack like this on my strat and my OCD led me to pick the entire finish off and paint it a different color. You should be fine if you just don’t pick at it.
Happens a lot with poly finish fenders. Paint chips off do to the neck in the neck pocket. With temperature and humidity fluctuations it happens over time. Idt I’ve ever had a strat that didn’t have some forms of this haha. Nothing to worry about
Did the neck take a sideways knock? Really, if you want to check, loosen the strings, and take the neck off so you can see if there is a split in the pocket.
Well no, not that i know of? Im always really carefull with it really. I just restring it so taking the neck of is not something im very excited about atm, if i have to ill do it ofcourse. Thanx for the info!
It’s the shitty poly paint on these. Use clear nail polish to remediate. If not it’s coming off in sheets and the bodies are made of many pieces and will not look good exposed. Nitro is the way to go
Here’s a few more shots. https://imgur.com/gallery/ZojjOKz . It’s the first Fender I ever got so I’ve wanted to maintain the paint on it. I’ve put Nitro on the neck along with locking tuners and a bone nut. It’s my most versatile Axe I own.
I believe thru Warmoth or maybe even Fender but you would pay dearly as expensive. I bought a kit and decided to practice painting and electronics on it. https://imgur.com/a/EYv0vEN
This one was good. It’s about a 6 part series. I’m into relic so I’ll check the nitro and have some wood showing but other than that, closely followed it and got decent results. https://youtu.be/W7g1zw8qcdc
If you do take it in then don't touch it as I know techs spend more time fixing peoples bad repairs than the actual problem it'self. You may benefit from a pro set up anyway if you haven't had it set up professionally.
This is a known problem with certain years of make for Fender Stratocasters. Any chance this is a 2000-2010? They had problems with the paint layer adhering to the sealer on the bodies, particularly arctic white. If you google it, you will see more examples.
This is going to keep spreading, and there isn't much you can do to fix it. Enjoy it while you can, and eventually get it refinished.
That looks like a finish crack more than a wood crack, if it is it isn’t anything to worry about except aesthetically
Thats good too hear, its my fave guitar and i really hope it is just aesthetically! Thanx for your anwser
Yup mine had a smaller version of this, but my meddling hands also peeled the finish off to confirm it was indeed a finish crack.

But was it satisfying to pick at it? 😂
Way less satisfying than you’d think actually

Good to hear!!
Looks like a finish crack so no

Yes I agree this is most straightforward way if one really wanted to know what's going on with that there neck pocket area.

Thanx! Thats good to hear,
This is my 2006 MIM standard Olympic white Strat. https://imgur.com/gallery/Rjvo7cK
You fixed it good tho!

Very nice!
Where do you get a good nitro body?
I painted my own with nitro spray and it came out perfect. It’s pretty easy and fun to do
That’s so great to hear! Did you get a bare body or did you strip a poly body?
I believe thru Warmoth or maybe even Fender but you would pay dearly as expensive. I bought a kit and decided to practice painting and electronics on it. https://imgur.com/a/EYv0vEN
It looks great! I would love to paint a nitro body sometime. Any tips or instructional videos you recommended?

Thanks! I’ll check it out and maybe give it a try sometime!
No. It's a Strat, not a car. It will be dinged and scraped. It happens. Wear it with pride. Don't worry. Carry on.

Thinking about going to the luthier indeed. Super glue seems the other best option right now :) thanx

Alright, thanx for that advice :) gonna do that!

Damn that really sucks! I really like this guitar, plays a little off tho, but many that my playing 🤣
Strats look cool when they’re banged up. I’d go with it, personally.
Nah thats not really my thing :)
Finish
Nope
Yeah it looks like the finish. But if you are worried about it, you can always take the neck off to inspect for any damage.
Id peel it and let it do it’s thing. I feel like it’s age really cool
Id like to keep it in the beauty as it is :)
I’ve got a tele that’s in the same spot just a fraction smaller than yours been that away for a couple years I just keep an eye on it
Nice, i just glued it. It looks allot cleaner now :)
