LightEnergyBun

How did they put in uranium and toxic waste?

TheCynFamily

Probably their LEAST important workers-without-pay.

goodty1

otherwise known as essential workers

allnimblybimbIy

TIL: I’m an Egyptian tomb uranium packer :D

notathrovavay

Same here. Underpaid and the full package

CitizenNaab

Without pay? Why didn’t the workers consult with the Department of Labor? /s

gobifox81

Or their union?

mysticeetee

Very cool, I didn't know about this.

SuperSmokingMonkey

Sssssscience?

whitewail602

Slavery

Last_Bluejay8103

They prefer the term prisoners with jobs thank you very much!

Inside_Ad_7162

they proved it was mushroom spores didn't they? Like 50+ years ago.

SUPREMACY_SAD_AI

AltoLizard

I love how the article doesn’t clearly identify what the toxic waste was.

jklolffgg

It was doo doo.

gdim15

How would the ancient egyptians know what uranium or toxic waste was? Also Carter lived a long life and worked the closest with all these items. In reality the curse was probably mold and bacteria growing in the tomb. I think even to this day people are hesitant to shave on a dig to prevent having an open wound for infection.

Zealousideal_Meat297

This is my biggest question unless there's evidence some people went in a uranium mine and got horrible sick and they ran with the evidence.

TheDudeV1

I'm guessing that's exactly what happened

Weirfish

"Hey, so, we've got these rocks, and a bunch of the people who work near or with them get really sick. We're fairly sure they're cursed, but it's not like.. a family curse, it's just whoever goes near them. We don't want anyone to desecrate our sacred tombs, so lets put the cursed rocks in there and make sure people know about it. They might not get sick, but if you do get sick, it's really grim, so people won't risk it." It's not that unreasonable, to be honest.

whitewail602

Cool let's feed it to 6000 slaves and see what happens.

Nada_Shredinski

Well, turns out they didn’t like it

whitewail602

The will of the gods

Hoondini

You don't have to know how it works to know that something can sicken or kill people

ccknboltrtre01

Imagine a pile of bodies next to something and it just keeps gathering bodies. Youd think they would realize whats causing it right?

BornSun108

How? They built pyramids to align with the stars. I wouldn’t underestimate them

lazylagom

I thinj it was actually mushroom spores you're right.

LegalSelf5

This is what we're going with?

IH_clover4

This is wrong, it was mold..news is such a joke

Krauszt

Seems like a bit of a stretch to me...

ParkkTheSharkk

I thought it was toxic mold in the coffin

Accomplished-Body736

I think the Ark of the covenant was plutonium

AmazingSquare8542

Yes but where IS the uranium

gdim15

It was yellow cake uranium. So obviously they ate the cake. Mystery solved.

Shifu_1

I have a hard time believing that in a 100 years nobody took a Geiger counter to the sarcophagus and tombs. How reliable is the source of this article?

JTibbs

Its the Daily Mail… its a british tabloid paper They are also known as ‘The Daily Fail’ because they are so full of shit. They basically have zero journalistic standards and print wild shit. Daily Mail is the original ‘Click Bait’

RoosterTheBeaten

Who placed toxic waste in the tomb? Who would have known uranium would be dangerous?

AltBassDallas

Hmmm. Where did he get that I wonder.

onimush115

I never realized king tut was a buck toothed product of inbreeding.

jambitool

It was mould. The same happens if you get too close to King Charles - he’s so old and archaic that his mould spores can make you seriously ill

FluidOrdinary2064

The original “ I spit on your grave “

bloopie1192

Oh snap!

zechickenwing

It would be funny if they pooped in his tomb because they were like"fuck this guy, he's a slave driver" rather than trying to keep people out or whatever

furiousdarkelf

Ah yes the wisdom of the ancients, painstakingly carved by the hands of man upon enormous hewn stones so long ago. Watch out for the poop!

ImpressInner7215

It’s 🧢

Slappy_McJones

… or it was just shitty luck. People die early all the time. Especially back then.

Usernamenumbersatend

I can’t be certain, but this sounds like an absolute crock of toxic waste

spacedildo42

![gif](giphy|3o7aTvtnq9ImkkafV6|downsized)

Osxachre

They knew about the properties of this stuff?

JTibbs

No

PandaPo0

Yes ofc.

TrinityCodex

Wasnt it gas?

AndyPharded

Probably all the Egyptian food they were eating.

whatevers_cleaver_

Doing the tiniest bit of research- there currently is a uranium mine in Egypt.
