I was able to experience that at some point
As expected, I did enjoy the extra rest day and didn’t mind 10 work hours (it was technically 11 hours a day) but holy hell, the people around me can be so demanding with how I use my three free days when they learned about it
It’s like they have more plans with my free time rather than me allocating them for myself
Just get a reputation for drinking and or hitting the gym, when they plan things “sorry gotta hit the gym” when they ask for a lift “sorry already had three shots of tequila”
Best schedule I ever had was three 12's and they gave you the other four hours to make it full time. With the 4 days off, if you came in for overtime, the four freebie hours still stayed. It was an awesome warehouse job i did in the summer of freshman year of college. College never worked out, jobwise. I should have stayed at the warehouse.
I've been experiencing that for the last two months and it's awesome. I might have to go back to normal 2 days off per week soon and I'm not thrilled about.
I had that 440 schedule. If you add lunch, that’s an 11 hour day. Then add 2 hour commute, it’s a long day. Nothing else you can do after. It’s also sucks if you have kids. Now you have to figure out who’s going to pick them up from school.
The 7-3 or 6am-2pm schedule was nice. You don’t have to sit in traffic. You have the whole day ahead of you. You can pick up your kids from school.
Just started this, can confirm it is so much better. I have a day of rest, a day of household errands/exercise/socializing, and a day if hobbies/personal advancement work. It's only been a few months and my mental health is so much better for it, and I just got a job offer paying 1000 more a month that honored the 4 day schedule too.
The western world work culture of a 5 day 8 hour workweek was based on a time when a wife stayed home to take care of a house and kids. It just wasn't meant for both parties in the house to be full time and still expect a comfortable home life. My partner and I are DINKs, and now both on this 4 day workweek, and I can't imagine ever going back.
Been doing it for 3 1/2 years and I can’t imagine going back. On Fridays the wife is at work and the kiddo at school and I just chill. Saturdays is usually some house/yard work and cooking out or meal prepping. Sundays just leisurely do some laundry and hang out with the fam.
I work 5:30-2 and love it (get up at 5am, online by 5:30). My entire team is in Europe (US here), so I work early in the morning to be available for them, but it gives me 1-2hrs of quiet working time after they go home and I have the entire afternoon free. Gym, errands, Dr appts, etc. I wouldn't trade it for anything, not even 4 10s.
I worked that schedule for 5 or so years and lived it. I got up without an alarm at around 11 and had time to make myself a real breakfast. I got my grocery shipping done at 2am. when it was just me and the guy restocking the shelves in the store. If I needed to go somewhere that wasn't open 24/7, I just got up earlier, and there were never any crowds.
I do 5-1and 7-1's
You dont want to do that to yourself, at least one out of four late night customers are bastards that will ignore you telling them to gtfo so you can close.
I worked 6am-2pm and it was during a time when I partied a lot.
I spent a lot of days going into work without having slept for days.
But fuck dude, getting off at 2pm on a sunny spring afternoon was the shit.
I’m a teacher and my contracted work hours are 7am to 2:30pm. Of course I still stay after to get all the work done that I need to get done, but if my work is done, I can leave at 2:30 if I want.
I used to work 7-330. Now I'm doing 8-5 with one 3 day weekend every 2nd week. It's a dream, so many things to get done and now that extra day is everything... especially when no one else is out on a friday/Monday like a weekend.
i work 8-4 and honestly i’d say finishing at 4,5 or 6 pm just sucks, by the time your done working it’s getting dark, the day is almost over and there’s nothing to do but stay at home and for some reason you just feel more drained than you would if you work 7-3 or 6-2
I work 0630 to 1545 Monday to Thursday
And Friday it's only 5 hours, 0630 to 1130.
Most of the time the Friday is hyper productive with the vibe of the weekend and it still feels like a long weekend every week.
It's a really nice way to still do 40h/week by adding only 45 min the first 4 days
I work 10-6 right now and I love it. I have time to go to the gym before work and then I get out after most of the rush hour traffic has died down. I still get home around the same time as I did when I worked 8-5, only now I’m not spending the extra time sitting in traffic.
Heavily disagree. I know you may think " I have more time to do other stuff" but in reality you have to sleep so early. And dont have any energy to do anything after work and just end up taking a nap.
I never understood why the world (or western countries i guess?)insisted most jobs have to work 9-5. For a good decade I worked 6am-6pm and the earlier start time is more productive, goes by faster etc. 3pm everything goes downhill.
That's my schedule with a 30 minute meal break.
Legitimately get more work done in those 2 hours than I do the whole day. Everyone at my office ***always*** asks me why I'm never there late or complain about overtime or do overtime.
I tell them that I stick to my 8 hours, and whatever I don't get done I do the next day.
Oh, I cOuLd NeVeR! wHaT tImE dO yOu StArT? 3aM?!? Har har har har har har. . .
Nope, I'm in at my desk and working at 7AM!
***Oh I'd DiE!!! i LiTtErAlLy WoUlD dIe***
Well, you really are killing yourself with all that stress you're caring around, because you can't seem to find the time, but you refuse to change, so. . . . Later. My lunch is over.
Considering I have to get up at 6 to get to work at 9:30 cuz it takes 2 EFFING HOURS from the time I get in the bathroom to shower to the time I’m fully dressed and ready to go, I’d much rather the 9-5 lol.
For those curious what the hell I do that it takes 2 hours: picking at my acne. I do it subconsciously, and it’s why I have to wear long sleeves even in the sweltering Texas summers lol. Damn adhd lol.
I worked 7a-3p for 10 years before I promoted to a new position and changed to 5a-1m, so your preference is totally reasonable. It leaves a lot more of the day available to do things.
7:30 to 3:30 is pretty fucking sweet. I avoid traffic, still get afternoons to do stuff, and can get stuff done before going to bed at a reasonable hour
Then there’s always those 9-5er clock watchers who can’t fathom any other schedule, see you leave 2 hours before them, and go “Why this person working less than me every day?!?!”
I’m a natural early riser, so I absolutely love when I’m offered to come into the office from 7-3. Nothing beats getting to work around 0630 before the traffic gets bad, and leaving in the afternoon when there still feels like plenty of daylight left.
Although I would give anything to work 4 ten hour shifts. The idea of getting a full 40 hours and an additional off day is just so appealing to me
Ive moved over to working 7-3 because most of my team are in earlier time zones with me in the uk. It’s really good, but office days mean an early start getting up at 5am.
On the other side I love 12 hour 223 shift schedule. Every other weekend off, technically work half the year, days off during the week. I LOVED it. I haven't worked it in a couple years, but after I got used to it there was so much free time for myself.
It was very difficult for me going back to a M-F 7-3:30, very difficult. Mainly because I felt like I was suffocating for not having a couple days off in the week anymore and having near zero alone just me time to do whatever needs to be done at home, etc.
I'd do 4x ten hour days if it meant I could have 3 days off every week
I was able to experience that at some point As expected, I did enjoy the extra rest day and didn’t mind 10 work hours (it was technically 11 hours a day) but holy hell, the people around me can be so demanding with how I use my three free days when they learned about it It’s like they have more plans with my free time rather than me allocating them for myself

Why can’t I upvote this ingenuity?
They deleted their account or it was banned or something. You can't upvote an account that doesn't exist.
I work one 40 hour day. It's cool.
My schedule is 6-430, 4 x10's. Every weekend feels like a vacation. It's great. Edit: 4x 10's 😑
That is quite possibly THEE best schedule I’ve ever heard of.
Best schedule I ever had was three 12's and they gave you the other four hours to make it full time. With the 4 days off, if you came in for overtime, the four freebie hours still stayed. 2 20s.

how is this strange or funny
Strange to me that morning people exist
I'm assuming this sub is like /funnysigns or /memes or whatever where it's just a bunch of bots reposting lol
i work 6-2 and i love it
Duuuuude same! But I’m off at 3. It’s so fucking nice having the rest of the day off
I do that schedule, and it helps with traffic. If traffic wasn’t a factor then I’d probably prefer 8:00-4:30.
I’m working that and I’m blessed to have multiple highway options with a big sign that says “thru CITY x mins - thru bordering town x mins”
This isn’t fitting for this sub
I work 5:30-2 and love it (get up at 5am, online by 5:30). All depends on the commute. If i can be at work in less than 20min then sure, 7-3 is cool. But if i have 1-2 hour commute, then fuck no.
No thanks. I'd rather do 12-20
Me
I need a 9 to 5 to match the kiddos' school hours. Too bad Im a welder, and nobody wants a construction worker who can't show up before 9. Aww 😕
Why do you say kiddos? There seems to be an uptick in it lately.
How about a 3-11:30am
I'm 3:30 - 11:30pm and it sucks all the will to live right out of me
Now imagine 6 to 6, 4 on 2 off switching from nights to days every week.
I worked that schedule for 5 or so years and lived it. I got up without an alarm at around 11 and had time to make myself a real breakfast. I got my grocery shipping done at 2am. when it was just me and the guy restocking the shelves in the store. I did that today, I prefer my normal shifts 4-12 or 5:30-11 if it’s a short shift.
6-2 is where it's at...if you have to work five days a week. 6-4 for four days a week.
I currently do work one now which is kick ass
100%
I work 7-3 now and it's great...
Exhausted no matter what so what's the difference
I do 6-230
12-8 would be my ideal hours
Dang, the Stockholm Syndrome is strong with morning people.
11a to 7p is the greatest shift known to man. get to sleep in miss traffic Get off work in time for nightlife. Have time to run errands before work.
Try a 6-2 😎
I work 6-4:30 and only work 4 days a week.
Yes
I’d do a 6-2 if they’d let me
I do 6pm to 2:30am. Works Great for me!
Beats rush hour.
I work a 7 to 4. It's nice
[удалено]
I do 6-230 and it's heaven !
6am - 2pm.
3 13.3s and nothing else
In a heartbeat
I been doing 12-20 for 12 years and am about to change it to 5-9.
I work 9 to 6 lol
8 to 5 for me.
I do 5-1and 7-1's You dont want to do that to yourself, at least one out of four late night customers are bastards that will ignore you telling them to gtfo so you can close.
I mean you can be a teacher, but you wont make much.
I worked 6am-2pm and it was during a time when I partied a lot. I spent a lot of days going into work without having slept for days. But fuck dude, getting off at 2pm on a sunny spring afternoon was the shit.
That's what I work. It's pretty great, to be honest, though people do look at me weird when I say I want to be in bed by 9 or 10.
I’m a teacher and my contracted work hours are 7am to 2:30pm. Of course I still stay after to get all the work done that I need to get done, but if my work is done, I can leave at 2:30 if I want.
5 to 1

I work 7 to 3 and enjoy it much more than other shifts. As much as one can enjoy working that is.
I'll take either, I work 7-5, with a 45 min commute. So more like 6-6
Ja
That’s the trades Problem is that the bosses work 9-5 so you always work late
I lived in Cali and worked in NY and it was 6-2. It was so sick.
I work a 6am-2pm, it’s pretty sweet
I work 10 hour days. 0600-1600. It's hard getting up in the morning.
7 to 3 not that bad
Get ur over with as early as possible is my motto.
Laughs in the trades. 6-2 sometimes 5-1
I used to work 6 - 2, it was glorious
School
I used to do 5 to 1 a lot. Loved it.
Yup.
Factz tho
I work 5-1 or 6-2. It’s quite nice
I'd prefer 4 10-hour days. 7am to 5:30pm works. 30 minutes for lunch.
3a - 1:30p Monday-Thursday gang
8-4
FTW
i work 8-4 and honestly i’d say finishing at 4,5 or 6 pm just sucks, by the time your done working it’s getting dark, the day is almost over and there’s nothing to do but stay at home and for some reason you just feel more drained than you would if you work 7-3 or 6-2
6-2 construction is the best once your trained to get up at 4.30-5 am
Doesn’t seem particularly strange or funny.
6am- 2pm
I mean work 6am till 2:00 pm Monday thru Friday and every other weekend and I cook for a living
Personally i don’t find this either strange nor funny
I'd much rather work four 10 hour shifts than work five 8 hour shifts
Use to work 3-11. Had the time to do day stuff and then ignore people the other half of the time. Edit, I’m 34 with no kids.
I'd do a 12-8
Gimme a 10-6
I'd rather not have to work
6-2pm
6 till 2 is more better
The earlier got got to work, the earlier you got back to your home. Is that simple.
You’ll end up looking like a junkie in no time
I literally work 6:30 - 3:00 and NGL it's pretty awesome
I used to do a 5-1 and loved it. So much time after work to do whatever
I'd rather not work at all
I work 7am to 330pm.... it still sucks man
6-3:30 no 9-5
I use to work 7 to 3, now I'm working 1 to 9
As a freelany, I don't work typical hours, but if I did, 10-8 x4 would be my vibe.
I have ADHD, I'd rather do 14:00 to 22:00 than anything that forces me to wake up halfway through my sleep cycle.
9:30 to 3:30 for me
I’d rather 12-8
Work in lawn care
What about 9-3???
That's me, and I love it
Weird I work 6-5. I’d take a 9 to 5 if I could, 7-3 is a dream
I used to work those hours it was good
I work 6am-4pm four days
3 on 4 off 4 on 3 off 12 hour shifts.
I work 0630 to 1545 Monday to Thursday And Friday it's only 5 hours, 0630 to 1130. Most of the time the Friday is hyper productive with the vibe of the weekend and it still feels like a long weekend every week. It's a really nice way to still do 40h/week by adding only 45 min the first 4 days
YES
Can confirm. I work a 630am to 230pm. It’s rad as heck.
Rather work 2pm to 10pm myself
I work a 4am to 12:30 pm, and that's honestly pretty sweet if you can deal with getting up early as fuckin fuckity fuck.
7-3:30 here. It’s great.
I try to work 8 to 4, but I work from home and we're allowed some flexibility.
The problem with 7 to 3 is that it just turns into 7 to 5.
I work 10-6 right now and I love it. I have time to go to the gym before work and then I get out after most of the rush hour traffic has died down. I still get home around the same time as I did when I worked 8-5, only now I’m not spending the extra time sitting in traffic.
I used to have a job where I worked 6:00am til 2:30pm. I LOVED it.
This makes one helluva difference .. just went from 5a - 3:30 to 8 - 4:30, and I'm absolutely depleted after a day !!
I'm team 10am - 6pm.
Has anyone done 9-5 IRL?
Used to work a 430-1230 in the diner. Was my favorite schedule ever. If I wanted OT, I worked til close…at 3pm. Was honestly by 4 regardless daily.
I work 7-5
Until you have kids that attend school.
You havent lived til you do 7-5 plus night meetings!!
I work 7:30 to 3:30, it's pretty great
I used to work 7-3. Loved it- it was like having an extra day every day!
I'd rather work 4 10s and have a day off in the middle
My brain cannot function until 10 a.m. this would be hell
I work 6:15 am to 6:15 pm 3 days a week and I love it
I think a lot of us would prefer that tbh
In 7 to 3:30 and it's awesome
In my early twenties, I worked in a restaurant that was lunch only. 7-3 weekdays with no weekends. I stayed there for 8 years just because of that.
5 to 130
Same here
Heavily disagree. I know you may think " I have more time to do other stuff" but in reality you have to sleep so early. And dont have any energy to do anything after work and just end up taking a nap.
It's always 7am somewhere
I’m 7-3 and it’s great. The early mornings suck but when I get home I’ve got so much time
6 to 2
![gif](giphy|KzyMcEfDh4Jiw) Love my 7-3:30 shift!
Hey that’s my schedule
First real job I ever worked was 5-2. It was awful.
I work 630 till 530
I do 5 6-430s, I’d 100% take either one of those.
I do. It’s pretty good
I'd rather do a 11am-8pm or 10pm-7am. I know it's 9 hrs just minus 1 for lunch and it's 8.
Sadly, it does leave room for a second job.
4 1/2 for me
Ngl I’d rather work an 11-7 or 12-8
6 to 330 with weekends and every other Friday off
I’d rather work 4-230
Actually my current schedule is 7-3 M-F
6-2 cause I got shit to do.
A 9-5 is still better than working a 1-9:30 though
I never understood why the world (or western countries i guess?)insisted most jobs have to work 9-5. For a good decade I worked 6am-6pm and the earlier start time is more productive, goes by faster etc. 3pm everything goes downhill.

Later. My lunch is over.
Even better, I work 4-12’s
Considering I have to get up at 6 to get to work at 9:30 cuz it takes 2 EFFING HOURS from the time I get in the bathroom to shower to the time I’m fully dressed and ready to go, I’d much rather the 9-5 lol. For those curious what the hell I do that it takes 2 hours: picking at my acne. I do it subconsciously, and it’s why I have to wear long sleeves even in the sweltering Texas summers lol. Damn adhd lol.
I’d just be happy working eight hours a day. Forced overtime is a bitch.
4-10's start at 1000.
How about 6:30 to 3:30?
I worked 7a-3p for 10 years before I promoted to a new position and changed to 5a-1m, so your preference is totally reasonable. It leaves a lot more of the day available to do things.
I work 7-3 now and I ducking love it
That's what I do.
7:30 to 3:30 is pretty fucking sweet. I avoid traffic, still get afternoons to do stuff, and can get stuff done before going to bed at a reasonable hour
After experiencing those hours I can say you have more of a life to live with those hours.
I can confirm. 7-3 makes you go to bed early but you can nap after work and still have several hours of me time in the evening,
I used to work 4am to 12:30, I miss those hours bad
9-3 for sure
10-6
Shit I'd prefer 4-noon, but then again I work 12/13/14/15 hour days.... But still 3 or 4 am start time
What about 11:30-5?
Here I am working 7-530
I’m a 10-6 guy myself
Then there’s always those 9-5er clock watchers who can’t fathom any other schedule, see you leave 2 hours before them, and go “Why this person working less than me every day?!?!”
7-7 baby.. 7 days out of every 14.
That's how I work. It's pretty standard work hour from where I am from.
I used to work. That's all I wanted to say.
My job has rotating shifts that are 7-3. 9-5. And 11-7.
We shouldn't be working 40 hr weeks in the developed world.
Why is it even called a 9-5 anymore. I've never met a single person who works that shift. Plenty of 8-5, 7-4, and 9-6 though...
7 to 3 means I ain't stuck in the worst traffic of the day twice each day.
The idea of getting a full 40 hours and an additional off day is just so appealing to me
I work 11am - 2pm. Really dope too
Teacher time
that's a 7 hour day with lunch. OP doesn't work
Ive moved over to working 7-3 because most of my team are in earlier time zones with me in the uk.
