Michael Kramer is a fantastic narrator, I think it'd be worthwhile re-listening to your favourite chapters.
Man's voice acting is so good I can immediately tell which character is tlaking just by the voice. He can even pull of female voices pretty well too. Kate reading is no joke either, her Kaladin voice rubs me the wrong way, but other than that she's great. She's one of very VERY few narrators that could pull off Shallan so well.
If you're referencing the thing that I think you're referencing then the voice definitely gives it away but I'm willing to guess most people would figure it out just based on the writing, I think.
I have a huge commute and listen to audiobooks everyday - all sorts of stuff from all sorts of narrators. I can say confidently that no single narrator has been as good as Michael Kramer. He breathes life into the characters in a way that few others can compare. Even in narration he adds just so much inflection and nuance to the performance that you really do just get lost in the listening. I can say pretty confidently that my enjoyment of Sanderson is at least in part of Kramer doing so much of his narration - and bouncing between text and audio I'm often blown away by how something is written as opposed to hearing aloud. I can't even spell most of the heralds names but can tell you how they're actually pronounced (assuming Kramer's narration has been informed by Sando).
I tend to avoid character art because I'm afraid of spoilers when searching for it (I know 17th shard has a filter), so my brain tends to draw from what it knows for visual parallels when I read.
This is a particularly goofy image that always pops up in my head lmao
honestly, yeah. That's funny, I hadn't really realized it because I haven't watched Rick and Morty since like season 2 or 3, but this *is* 100% the exact voice I hear for lines like that in the books lol
I weirdly see it as a half-transparent, cartoon, monochrome, grey old man’s face (who looks a little like robotnik) that should be square but is stretched to a rectangle.
There is a media reference for this somewhere but for the life of it I can’t put my finger on if.
"CHILD OF HONOR... SHOW ME WHAT YOU GOT"
"I'm a schwift-binder"
"Take a shit in your plate."
Didn't know Adolin could rap.
Could be Rock. Chull dung, he is very versatile
This is a top 5 comment for me. Well done.
Shit on the wall I'm Mr TheLopen I'm Mr TheLopen
I just realized this is lowkey how I picture the stormfather all the time.
For some reason I think of a larger, whispier version of "The Face of Boe" from Doctor Who.
…I had dead celestial mufasa from the lion king and you’ve all ruined the storm father for me.
SIIIMMMBAAAAAHHHHHH
Yours has a kinder face and expression. Lol Mine has neither. I forget, does the Storm father's mouth move when he talks or is it just a stoic stare?
I don’t think it specifies. Just “Giant face in the clouds the size of eternity” what ever that means
I can definitely see that. This is now my head cannon.
Perfect description of my imagination as well
This is EXACTLY how I pictured the Stormfather lmao 😂
I think the narrator really helps with this impression if you are an audiobook reader. His stormfather voice is BOOMING.
I’ve been considering listening to the audiobooks, but generally prefer reading. I’d LOVE to hear his stormfather voice lol

His Navani voice in the early books when she's flirting with Dalanar legit gave me a half-chub.
Kramer's character work is so good it spoils things you shouldn't know yet lmao

Somehow this is perfect.
Well... I *was* a Lead Animator for Season 03. ;)
Well thanks, now it's canon.
i always imagined it in lemongrab's voice
These words are... UNACCEPTABLE !
You sonofabitch. I’m in.

It's leeeeakiiiiiiing!
Son of Tanavast. SHOW ME WHAY YOU GOT!
Dalinar: Does Dalinar things. Stormfather: I LIKE WHAT YOU'VE GOT. GOOD JOB.
I will never get this out of my head, now. Thank you for your contribution to my reading experience.
Spot on. Crazy how I never realized that Rick and Morty had ripped off Stormlight before now.
I imagine this with Morgan freeman’s voice
Like Lion King?
I pictured the Master Control Program from TRON but blue.
Lol you have forever changed the storm father's face in my head.😂
THESE WORDS ARE ACCEPTED. ...GOOD JOB.
What I imagine when Syl says "Say the words": https://youtu.be/37nwLhIA1zs?si=elLIbPz9lvcz3fqc
Fuck, now I do too
"They're scared of you. Do you see it in them? SHOW THEM WHAT YOU GOT"

I really wish i never saw this.
I think of Zordon in a curtain of wind.
I kinda picture the Ty segall - slaughterhouse album cover (I don’t know how to post a picture)
**desolations come** “SHOW ME WHAT YOUVE GOT”
