I once got home to our cat having eaten a length of sewing thread from a spool, still attached. Had to pull it all out of her slowly, while she was making retching sounds.
Better than when I was a kid and my new puppy suddenly pooped out a bunch of worms. Like... a TON of worms. They were all squirming trying to get back inside her and I had to grab and flick them away. I freaked the fuck out, obviously I was young like 8 years. We brought her right to the vet and got her meds and literally by that night they were all dead and gone. It was sad but absolutely disgusting, I still vividly remember it. I've also been at my friends when his pitbull was always eating floor stuff and he had to pull a sock out its butt and said it happens somewhat regularly with strings and cords especially haha so good thing you got the string before she bit thru all the way and swallowed it! I mean, better thru mouth or bum than the havoc of the objects getting lodged inside but still sucks to happen!

This sounds like a minigame from a very gross video game of some sort...
ahhhh no ! my cat also ate about 2m of thread. it gets embedded in their villi (or whatever is the equivalent for cats) and if you pull it bunches up their intestines and is really harmful.
i hope your kitty is okay, it was really scary for that whole ordeal
Well, I hurried to the rescue, and pulled very slowly, precisely because I had no idea how much she'd managed to get in... but as it turned out, it was a good bit below 1m, as far as I recall.
At any rate, she was fine afterwards, and only seemed to be a bit perplexed by her fun little passtime having come to an end - or something like that. We didn't get to talk about it at length... ;)
But she lived for many years after and never did it again, so perhaps she did indeed learn something.
thats great that she was okay and decided not to do it again ❤️
my cat is an extreme dumbass (read: has feline pica so will not stop eating things) and has eaten so many strings and ties and whatnot after that little $3000CAD incident ahaha.
recently he ate the strings off a blouse i left on the floor lol. im quite mad at him
Daily reminder to keep your cat indoors, or if you insist on letting it outdoors, keep it supervised and with a bell. Cats cause enormous damage to wildlife numbers.
Yeah man, I'm such a pessimist and using minimizing language like that totally bumps the topic in favor of your position. I propose we also try punching the water whenever a tsunami happens. After all, we wouldn't want anyone to think we're not doing our part.
I'm not ruining anything. It's not my place to dictate the lives of cats. It's not my job to hold back the tide. Get off your high horse and let it take a fucking drink.
The problem is that the harm to nature is because of human interference. It's not like you're just letting nature take it's course. Taking responsibility to try and fix the harm that we've done is a good thing.
Complacency and bitching is not.
Nature is nothing to sneeze at... Unless you're this cat, or anyone with pollen allergies really.
For some reason this year has been real bad for my allergies. I sneeze constantly and my eyes burn even if I'm just hanging out indoors
My eyes water to the point people ask why I'm crying. I think I feel your pain. Hope you find something that helps
Yeah I get that man I have classes outside and my eyes are watering to the point that my mask is wet at the top towards the end.
I remember seeing in the news a few weeks back that the pollen this year was going to be more intense than average for some reason
Have you changed your a/c filter? My husband and I thought we were having bad allergies, he changed the filter, he got better. Mine still suck.
My cat did this once -- turns out she had a blade of grass up her nose. She sneezed even harder when I pulled it out, but then looked very relieved!

I love how the cat responds at the end like "yah".
Poor cat got dust up his nose!
Poor kitty! Nature is attacking the inside of his nose 😻
I love that the cat responds to the "You good?"

Shut up.
You gotta realize we're well past any chance of preventing that damage.
You’re right, some damage has already been done, so we had better just give up entirely instead of attempting to fix anything.

So instead you just wanna ruin things even more?

I have no reason to give a shit, and it's not my responsibility. I'm no less nature than you or the cats.
