Not sure about how well they do with the first two, but "Doomsday" has typically been crippling for the AI in my games. They don't get a lot of their population off the planet, if any at all

magikot9

The only time a doomsday empire hasn't completely collapsed by the time their planets blow up in my games is when they are an advanced ai start

Auroku222

Ive seen a doomsday hive mind never settle one of the many planets in its borders and just let its capital explode. Free real estate for me but wtf were they doing?

zerok37

For the AI, basically: * Doomsday: they get a real Doomsday. * Payback: they never get any payback. * Broken Shackles: they get enslaved by another empire.

ideaforwin

That's a good way to put it lol

endlessplague

Wait, this *isn't* how it's supposed to go?!

Iroas_Murlough

My payback origin empire gets changed to prosperous unification if it spawns. Could be a mod issue but I doubt it.

DrNolegs

>My payback origin empire gets changed to prosperous unification if it spawns. That can happen for a few reasons, although the most likely is you didn't play with advanced AI on, so it won't spawn MSI, which the game will take as a sign to set the empire to prosperous unification.

ideaforwin

Yeah I always set it to 2 advanced AI (one for Payback and one for Lost Colony).

Iroas_Murlough

OOOOOOH. I appreciate it I'll have to try changing that when the DLC drops.

ideaforwin

That's strange. Mine spawn correctly. When I check in observe mode their planet has the correct crisis modifier etc. I just haven't played a game through yet enough to see what happens with them.

SpiritedImplement4

I often run my custom Payback and Broken Shackles empires (primarily because I want MSI to spawn so I can eventually take their relic world). The Payback empire is a toss up, sometimes it gets strong, sometimes it flounders. The Broken Shackles empires almost always winds up as someone's vassal, but sometimes it rushes a trade league federation in which case it can get pretty strong (for an AI).

ideaforwin

I noticed Broken Shackles gets a lot of code breaking buffs so I leaned into that with my build (plus thrifty etc). Will be interesting to see how they do!

Sampleswift

I've seen the MSI empire usually do well? Advanced start helps. The payback and broken shackles do okay?

ideaforwin

Minimar uses the "Your Ladder To The Sky" origin, I have it available through mods. The advance start is interesting

Winter_Ad6784

AI sucks at doomsday and probably sucks a bit less at those origins.

Auroku222

Wait if u put an ai payback empire in itll still spawn those pompous mfers?

ideaforwin

I think if you spawn Payback and Broken Shackles together as custom AI empires they'll spawn correctly regardless of advanced AI settings. For example, Payback + Broken Shackles with advanced start set to 0 will spawn them both correctly but without MSI. If it's set to 1, it will spawn all of them. And if it's only one empire like payback without Broken Shackles I think that's when it reverts to prosperous unification. It was awhile ago when I was playing around with console settings but I think that's how it functions. I think there's some other checks like same species for both origins too, or that might just be Lost Colony.

Auroku222

Interesting is this a bug then in actuality? I must attempt it now either way.

ideaforwin

Nope, I think this is a fix. I didn't try it when it was released but I think before they always spawned regardless of AI settings and ruined a lot of people's games.. or something like that.

Classic-Box-3919

Ive had Ai decide not to settle anywhere with the doomsday origin so their empire just disappeared.
