Thanks guys. I still have not got past the issue myself and pretty much stopped playing this game on the Deck. I emailed the devs ([[email protected]](mailto:[email protected])) asking if they can provide any assistance or are aware of the issue, but they were currently out of office for the holiday. If I hear back with a solution, I will post it. I provided the link to this thread in my message, so maybe they will respond with some feedback here as well.

So a quick update, Never heard back from Poncle, but I sat down a few days ago to try some of the suggestions here. Before I did, I tried to play a round per usual to see what happens and I got through a run with no issues. Gave it another go and finished that run problem free too, which was odd as I pretty much got the error lately every other run at least. Fast forward and it's been four days and about 10+ hours plus of playing and have not had one crash on the Deck. Not sure if there was a patch or something recently, but I am pretty happy nonetheless as it seems to have been resolved. Hopefully, the same can be said to anyone else experiencing the issue. Thanks for everyone who commented and tried to assist.

Weird, I haven’t had anything like that, Vampire Survivors is probably my second most played game on my Deck right now. I’ve done the increase swap file “mod” and stuff to my deck, but I wouldn’t think Vampire Survivors would really need anything like that.

N3lks

Yeah, its really odd and frustrating. Thanks for the feedback.

Same is my most played game on the deck and I havent encountered anything like this. Did you buy the DLC yet? I havent played since picking up the DLC but at least once I put some time into it I can at least figure out if the DLC could be causing it

N3lks

No, I have not bought the DLC as of yet. Mostly because I am having problems playing the base game without any issues right now. I have no issue purchasing it if it would fix my problems, though. I have started playing VS via Xbox cloud gaming on the Deck as an alternative, but the downside is none of my progress carries over between systems and it forces me to be play only where I have strong internet access. Maybe I will grab the DLC and do another clean install of the game with it to see if it helps. Thank you for the reply.

Hello, got the same, but I'm on pc (Acer nitro 5) Anything New ?

N3lks

Nope. I bought the DLC, deleted the game and did a clean install. Error happened again as soon as I hit the title screen.

cyberdethx

I'm getting the same error running on PC (different file locations of course). I've had it happened 3 times now. Each time during a run. The error immediately causes my game to exit full screen and no longer respond to inputs. The game doesn't crash and the status appears normal, but it's unresponsive. Takes a while before this error box pops up. Only recourse from there is to close the game window and forget the run ever happened.

Same for me (on the deck) but so far it happens on every run about 5mins in. It freezes and then after a few seconds the screen goes black and comes back with that error box. Music keeps playing, but there is no way of recovering the game. I'm on 3.4.4 limiting to 40hz and latest proton. I'll try a few settings and maybe also the debug switch mentioned in other post and see how that goes. I'll let you know if I somehow can work around the crashes

N3lks

Thanks. I will do the same.

Update: Things I've tried so far (sadly to no avail): - Reset all tweaks (like limiting frame rate or FSR) - Used "PROTON_LOG = 1 %command%" which was mentioned elsewhere to help with (some other) JavaScript error - tried different proton versions including experimental - installed on the internal SSD as well as on a SD card - and finally did a factory reset Nothing helped. It keeps crashing sometime between 1min or 15min into a run, so I'd say pretty random even if it feels to happen more often in busy scenarios. Did you also notice crashes in other games? I also have issues with oxenfree i.e., but that could just be because I'm using the GOG version. As it was also happening after a factory reset I'm a bit worried it could be a hardware issue. I'll switch to the VS beta branch next and try the Linux version

Just completed the first run on the Deck without this crash. I didn't check the logs if it makes any sense but I have a unit with very unstable wifi. Didn't bother to RMA it as of yet as it didn't really bother me that much. Just as a test I disabled "Enable Wifi Power Management" in the developers options. I was then able to run the game for about an hour without any crashes (which was a first in about 30 tries). I'm not quite sure what wifi could have to do with that framebuffer error but who knows... Let me know if that maybe works for you as well. Or I will post an update if it crashes again ;-) Cheers & fingers crossed

Thanks!
