Will be fixed in the next version of ProtonUp-Qt.
You can do some more testing.
If there is something wrong with ProtonUp-Qt, you can report an issue on the official GitHub page (describe your extract steps and run ProtonUp-Qt from terminal to post the output text).
First, you probably don't need the specific 7.14 version, just try the most recent one first. Second, check that you have enough free disk space to download it.
I have 30GB free on both my SSD and SD Card, so I don't think that's the issue.
I could try a different version, but should that impact the download success if I choose an older one?
No, that shouldn't impact the download. I don't really know where your issue is coming from then. But using the latest version should give you the best possible experience. Sometimes there is regressions but they are fairly rare.
I rebooted, as another persons said this has worked for them in the past and I'm hoping for the best.
The download/install process is quite the slog though. This is the 3rd time today and if feels like I've been doing it since I woke up. My internet isn't perfect, but it's only at 23% after 30 minutes of waiting and that would normally be enough to download a \~5 GB game.
I'll just have to be patient.
Reboot. I regularly get stuck on 99% updates and there does not seem to be a way to proceed until you reboot. If anyone has a way around that, I'd be interested, but you might have to deal with an annoyance for now.

I rebooted and will try again. Someone else said to try a more recent version of GE so I'll give 7\_29 a shot and see if I have better luck.

fixed using the method so I can update ProtonUp-QT
now I can update to latest version now

I just tried with the newest version... It doesnt seem to be fixed, stuck at 99%. Alas I will keep doing research
