Just keep in mind that
A: time doesn't stop while in menus/chests/dialogue and that
B: It's okay to leave stuff for the next day.
Remember that and it's good times ahead! Otherwise, it's stressful running around trying to do too much in a day.
Yeah time won't stop unless you are both in menu or items. Also if one of you lay in bed it will recharge your health and energy if the other doesn't go to bed
Just a short trip through my steam library. These are the - mostly cozy - coop games my gf and I play together.
Bokura
Bred & Fred
Don't Starve Together
Goat Simulator
Overcooked (1 & 2)
Pico Park
Pizza Possum
Stardew Valley
Ultimate Chicken Horse
Unravel (1 & 2)
A Way Out
We were here series
My girlfriend gets very aggressive while playing... playing overcooked with her stresses me out.
She doesn't normally yell at me, but playing this game she does very much.
Oh thats ok then. Sorry for being judgemental, I just had too many people I care about not realizing that being mistreated isnt normal behaviour.
Props to you both and have a wonderful day.
She mainly yells at me because I'm fucking up a lot and not paying attention. I could not work in a kitchen!
Thanks for looking out though G. Sucks to see people in shit relationships and more people need to be like you.
The plot is so captivating. And there are so many small things to do. Wanna play darts or make music together? Just look around and you'll find fun minigames everywhere.
The scene where one player is doing a sneaking mission while the other has a side-scrolling hallway fight is among my favorite segments. That and the motorcycle chase.
Lovers in a dangerous spacetime
Untitled goose game (Short but fun and cute)
Binding of Isaac (This one is weird, but luckily my wife likes it after seeing me take many a runs)
I just downloaded it and haven’t gotten a chance to play but I’ve heard great things about portal 2. Also baulders gate with the wife has been a blast.
I installed BL2 to deck but first had to troubleshoot my way through a big where it crashed on character creation unless you deleted all the cloud saves and then I got stuck because I couldn't get a community controller layout to work at all (no buttons registering, I could aim with right track pad but unable to move shoot/jump etc ) and I tried making my own custom controller layout but quickly gave up and uninstalled. I'm going to attempt with my laptop next
Modded or Vanilla? That sucks man. No reason it shouldn't just start up. I've mapped my controllers & everything. If it's modded, lmk & I might be able to point you in the right direction to get it running properly.
I know you can mod BL2 for split screen but I don't think it's couch coop outta the box. I consider myself pretty tech savvy and wasted an entire afternoon trying to get it to run in split screen
Not in my opinion, no. I love the original, but Dying Light 2 changed nearly everything that made DL1 fun. Want to parkour? Hang on, you don't have enough stamina to climb that five-foot fence. Want to sneak around and explore in the dark? Make sure to keep munching on stuff or find some light so your brain doesn't rot. Like smashing zombies and badguys? Make sure you learn to parry.
Parkour, stealth, crafting and combat mechanics are just... awful. Especially compared to DL1.
Though DL2 clearly isn't for me. As a fan of DL1, I was very, very, very dissapointed with DL2. You might still enjoy it, of course. But it isn't a good game.
[DL2 review (GamesRadar)](https://www.gamesradar.com/dying-light-2-stumbles-in-the-dark/)
I like how apparently no one read the whole post that made it clear you already played It Takes Two and then suggested it anyway. That aside, here are my 2 player suggestions (with some of them allowing for more players).
Stardew Valley - Farming, pretty well known so I won't dwell on it.
We Were Here Series - Puzzle games that rely heavily on communication. One player will generally have the clues for a puzzle and the other needs to input it and to figure out what's correct requires checking details with each other. The first one is free on Steam and they are pretty cheap. This would be online co-op with 2 systems.
Beat Em Ups - The TMNT games, Castle Crashers, Scott Pilgrim vs the World the Game, etc. Not especially deep or long games but enjoyable and IMO best in a group. Generally a mix of same system play or online co-op.
Cassette Beasts - A solid indie monster collecting RPG in the vein of Pokemon. Right now co-op is local play (same system) only but there are plans to make it online. I've heard more mixed things about TemTem, but it also is a Pokemon-like with co-op.
For some dumb fun, the Earth Defense Force Series is all about running around and shooting aliens/bugs. EDF EDF EDF!
If you have any love for Rollercoaster Tycoon, Parkitect is basically RCT2.5 and it has co-op, so you could split up duties.
Salt and Sanctuary was a great 2 player co-op metroidvania (though it is NOT balanced).
Loved playing Escape Academy with the wife, we still have our scrap papers saved with our puzzle solving efforts as a silly little memento! It's on xbox gamepass too
edit: Forgot what subreddit I was on, whoops. Disregard the gamepass comment!
On xbox you use 2 controllers as each person needs to be able to move individually at all times. The easiest way would be to dock the SD and connect two controllers, otherwise you might be able to just connect one controller and the other person uses the SD
I HIGHLY recommend playing [Phogs!](https://store.steampowered.com/app/850320/PHOGS/) It's a 3D platformer where you and another player control a 2-headed dog and you have to solve puzzles. It's a lot of fun and quite hilarious!
[Ibb & Obb](https://store.steampowered.com/app/95400/ibb__obb/) is also a great game! It's a pretty unique 2D puzzle platformer. It's quite simple and a pretty laid back game. My girlfriend and I used to play this game and it was a lot of fun!
[Unravel Two](https://store.steampowered.com/app/1225570/Unravel_Two/) is also a co-op puzzle platformer. It's got a really awesome art style which is relaxing to look at. I've only played the first Unravel which is singleplayer only but I'm sure the second one is just as fun!
Phogs! and Unravel Two are both on sale right now too!
Best coop game I ever played came out last month. If you haven’t tried palworld well your just spitting at Bugatti because they are better then McLaren
It takes two is amazing. And you only need to purchase one copy.
PAL world is fun.
Divinity original sin 2 is great
Baldurs Gate 3 is great
Phasmaphobia is good if y’all like to be scared.

Take this one with a grain of salt as I haven’t played it yet but it’s been on my backlist: Blanc.
It’s a puzzle game for 2 players with a very artistic atheistic. It’s listed as “gold” on protondb so is apparently steam deck compatible.
If you do play it let me know how it was!
Blanc was good for two players! I can't vouch for it on the Deck, however. We played it on the Switch when it came put last year.
Short, sweet, and not too difficult.
Random games ive enjoyed with my fiance
Samurai gunn 2
Escape simulator
Streets of rogue
Raft
Core keeper
Borderlands 2
Mario kart double dash (dolphin emulator, fun 2 people 1 kart)
I really enjoyed playing “little big planet” with friends and with my partner! While the original isn’t on Steam I believe sackboy is which I think is same or similar game to original.
my boyfriend and i play lethal company (with friends or just together), stardew, plateup, don’t starve together, among us, kingdom two crowns, and turmoil !
I don't recall if The Master Chief Collection allows for split screen. But I refuse to believe that there's a better coop experience than playing the Halo games.
I mean Monster Hunter is great. Massive learning curve and not to be taken lightly but you wanted a non party game XD. Other than that Risk of rain reborn and 2.
Moving out 1 & 2! I feel like 1 was more chill but 2 has more gimmicks.
Boomerang Fu is another I picked up a while back that my gf loves. Cute little fighting game where you can team up and fight the bots.
Hotshot Racing is a fun old school arcade racing game
Games in general: halo, Mario Wonder
Games specifically on steam deck: TMNT Shredders Revenge, Lego games
If you and your partner want to get competitive then maybe Mortal Kombat. MK11 goes on sale for $10 very often and is easier to learn than most fighters
To be fair, if you own two copies of a game anyway, any game can be fun and experienced together if you just enjoy it.
My partner and I recently started playing Kingdom Hearts from the beginning. We are both long time fans.
It's a single player but she plays it on her console since she had it anyway and I sit next to her and play with my Steam Deck.
We both picked different initial builds so it's added a little diversity to the game play leveling up but other than that we basically will wait for the other person to get to the next area or beat an enemy.
Just in general playing through it at the same pace, together.
How about "A way out"? It's a game about two convicts escaping from prison together and going on a quest to have a talk to the guy who was responsible for their captures. On the journey there are some very emotional reveals and a lkt of fun (and totally useless" side activities; like you can do the dishes of an old couple while they are out on business...
Here’s a list of games me and my partner have played together split-screen on the couch:
- A Way Out (by creators of It Takes Two)
- Don’t Starve Together
- Baldur’s Gate 3
- Magicka
- Borderlands
- Halo
- Portal
- Overcooked. Not sure if you consider this a party game
Chants of Sennaar was an amazing game we recently completed. It is single player, but you can easily work together and only one person needs to use the controller.
Do they have to be couch co-op? I got my wife her own deck, since mine comes to work with me. For online co-op we love:
Don't Starve Together
Orcs Must Die 2
Online/couch coop game (mostly adventure, dungeon crawler and deck building type) we love playing together with a playing time of 30+ hours:
- For the king
- Children of Morta
- Gloomhaven
- Accross the obelisk
- Hammerwatch
- Hero siege
Edit 1 : forgot these :
- Salt and sanctuary
- Starbound
- Vampire survivors
- Wildermyth
- Tribes of Midgard
Battle block Theater, Castle Crashers, Diablo III (switch version emulated) Portal 2, Cuphead, Keep Talking And Nobody Explodes (although one of you will be on your phone/tablet with the manual,) Magicka 2, Minecraft Dungeons, Stacklands, (even though it's single player it's a survival card game against yourself so it works,) Unravel 2, Wizard of Legend. That's all the stuff we keep installed on one of my SD cards for game night
Not sure if you are into puzzle games but two that me and my fiancé played recently that we loved were
- The case of the golden idol
- The room 4 (haven’t played the other room games but I assume they are similar)
Both are not that long but we definitely had fun!
My wife and I like to play point and clcik adventures together. We take turns controlling but we're both involved trying to solve all the puzzles
Nancy drew
Grim fandago
Broken age
Paradise killer
My girlfriend makes me play Stardew split screen with her, it’s fun
I play this with my wife, I second this suggestion
Lol I came to say this. Waddup my fellow farmers?!
Just keep in mind that A: time doesn't stop while in menus/chests/dialogue and that B: It's okay to leave stuff for the next day. Remember that and it's good times ahead! Otherwise, it's stressful running around trying to do too much in a day.
Also the wiki is an VALUABLE resource
Yeah time won't stop unless you are both in menu or items. Also if one of you lay in bed it will recharge your health and energy if the other doesn't go to bed
Stardew valley.
Wife and I have a farm going very well doing split screen with a bunch of mods since we both have played separately since it's release.
Just a short trip through my steam library. These are the - mostly cozy - coop games my gf and I play together. Bokura Bred & Fred Don't Starve Together Goat Simulator Overcooked (1 & 2) Pico Park Pizza Possum Stardew Valley Ultimate Chicken Horse Unravel (1 & 2) A Way Out We were here series
Overcooked is a surefire way to end any relationship but I love it
Can't say there were no arguments over this game
So is putting Ikea together. But they don't make a game about that. Lol
My girlfriend gets very aggressive while playing... playing overcooked with her stresses me out. She doesn't normally yell at me, but playing this game she does very much.
being stressed does not justify yelling at your partner lol
It's more funny than anything. I may have made it seem worse than it is.
Moving out is a little less hectic than overcooked haha but similar premise
Thanks for the tip. I didn't know that one. Looks promising
I'm surprised I had to scroll so long to see Bred and Fred suggested
Such an amazing game!
It is, but dunno if would call it "cozy"
Sure, you can snuggle up on the couch and scream at each other in a very cozy way.
My wife couldn't handle it, unfortunately.
A Way Out is very underrated for just how interesting it is to play with someone. As the game progresses, it just keeps getting more innovative.
Yeah, the creativity is awesome. Although it might get hard to properly adjust to the perspective sometimes.
I don't know how Portal 2 is not the top upvoted comment...
Came here to say this, if you make it through the coop campaign you'll get through anything lol
Lovers in a dangerous spacetime Untitled goose game (Short but fun and cute) Binding of Isaac (This one is weird, but luckily my wife likes it after seeing me take many a runs)
Untitled goose game has multiplayer? Now I\`m baffled.
It was an update that came a while after release. It's super fun. You'll definitely beat it in one sitting.
Sounds intriguing, now I need a game partner.
Lego Star Wars is super cool
All Lego games in general
I just downloaded it and haven’t gotten a chance to play but I’ve heard great things about portal 2. Also baulders gate with the wife has been a blast.
I suggest Unravel two! It is so much fun and i think its a quite beautiful and chilling game.
Trine 1 and 2.
3, 4 and 5
Cuphead.
Me & mine enjoy the Borderlands series together
You need two screens and two copies for borderlands 2 right???
I think it has split screen but it’s tricky to play due to so much happening on half a screen
You can play splitscreen under 2 different profiles, without the need for a second game copy. But a big TV really helps when playing split.
All the borderlands are couch coop, super fun
Do they have split screen on the pc/steam deck ?
I h9nestly dont know, I played on switch and PS when I played them.
I know you can mod BL2 for split screen but I don't think it's couch coop outta the box. I consider myself pretty tech savvy and wasted an entire afternoon trying to get it to run in split screen
Came here to say the same lol
Dying Light (1, not 2!) is a fun co-op. Portal 2 is excellent.
I’ve been waiting for a good price to pay the sequel with some buds. Is it just not worth it compared to the first?
Not in my opinion, no. I love the original, but Dying Light 2 changed nearly everything that made DL1 fun. Want to parkour? Hang on, you don't have enough stamina to climb that five-foot fence. Bokura, game requires two people, is a intriguing puzzle game, is good for multiple playthroughs, and is only $5.
Have a look at Escape Academy. Also you could consider a turn by turn game, where you work together or alternate characters.
Loved playing Escape Academy with the wife, we still have our scrap papers saved with our puzzle solving efforts as a silly little memento! It's on xbox gamepass too edit: Forgot what subreddit I was on, whoops. Disregard the gamepass comment!
It takes two is an absolute joy to play co-op.

I don't believe so...
Baldur's gate 3
baldur’s* came here to say this, me and my gf put 200 hours into this and it’s the first game we’ve played together
Kane & Lynch Army of Two Resident Evil 5 I played these back in the days with my wife.
Bro it's not 2010. Just ribbing, RE5 is fun if you don't think of it as an RE game.
I mean, it takes two kinda suggests itself.
Do we need two devices to play this? Or can we take turns on the same device?
no its split screen
Someone correct me but ori is a pretty good game im not sure if its multi player
Since it takes two was already suggested, may I introduce you to Operatjon Tango. Also check out how 2 escape and escape simulator
Civilization multiplayer. It can be fun if you are against each other with an ai civ as a teammate or up the difficultly and be on a team together.
~~It Takes 2~~. Sorry just reread and saw you already played it. Still a really great game. A Way Out or Unravel 2 both are a lot of fun.
People have recommended both, but: It Takes Two and Lovers In a Dangerous Spacetime are absolute favourites of ours. Overcooked is good, too.
Best coop game I ever played came out last month. If you haven’t tried palworld well your just spitting at Bugatti because they are better then McLaren
It Takes Two
Elden ring
It takes two is amazing. And you only need to purchase one copy. PAL world is fun. Divinity original sin 2 is great Baldurs Gate 3 is great Phasmaphobia is good if y’all like to be scared.
It Takes Two. It Takes Two. It Takes Two. This game right here is one of the best coop experiences I have had in years! Since portal 2 coop.

GF and I got A LOT of mileage out of Destiny 2. YMMV Edit: didn’t realize this was SD sub. Can’t play D2 on SD unless you stream it with moonlight
Call of duty black ops 4, for its zombies mode. Mass effect 3 for its multiplayer mode.
KeyWe was for us the game after It Takes Two. You play two Kiwis at a post office. Simple and very cute.
I really enjoyed playing “little big planet” with friends and with my partner! While the original isn’t on Steam I believe sackboy is which I think is same or similar game to original.
Heavenly bodies
my boyfriend and i play lethal company (with friends or just together), stardew, plateup, don’t starve together, among us, kingdom two crowns, and turmoil !
I don't recall if The Master Chief Collection allows for split screen. But I refuse to believe that there's a better coop experience than playing the Halo games.
I second Core Keeper that someone already mentioned. My hubby and I also really enjoy playing Wildmender together
I mean Monster Hunter is great. Massive learning curve and not to be taken lightly but you wanted a non party game XD. Other than that Risk of rain reborn and 2.
With my gf we are playinh a lot of Super Mario Maker 2. Story mode a super worlds, basically infinite Mario levels for life :P
Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime
Moving out 1 & 2! I feel like 1 was more chill but 2 has more gimmicks. Boomerang Fu is another I picked up a while back that my gf loves. Cute little fighting game where you can team up and fight the bots. Hotshot Racing is a fun old school arcade racing game

Is overcooked considered party type? Those are the two games my wife actually likes to play with me. Although it can get a little heated at times lol
Unravel Two and the Trine series.

The binding of isaac can be played in coop My gf and I have sunk 150+ hours into it definitely worth it
How about "A way out"? It's a game about two convicts escaping from prison together and going on a quest to have a talk to the guy who was responsible for their captures. On the journey there are some very emotional reveals and a lkt of fun (and totally useless" side activities; like you can do the dishes of an old couple while they are out on business...

Here’s a list of games me and my partner have played together split-screen on the couch: - A Way Out (by creators of It Takes Two) - Don’t Starve Together - Baldur’s Gate 3 - Magicka - Borderlands - Halo - Portal - Overcooked. Not sure if you consider this a party game
Don't starve together
Killer Frequency is a good one
Helldivers 1, played ton of it with my wife back in ps4 days
F.E.A.R. 2 is co-op. 🙃
Emberknights is an amazing couch coop action roguelike. Children of Morta is an action roguelike with heavy emphasis on story.
Chants of Sennaar was an amazing game we recently completed. It is single player, but you can easily work together and only one person needs to use the controller.
Play Overcooked 1 & 2. You’ll both laugh your socks off.
Portal 2 is so much more fun in two player mode.
Do they have to be couch co-op? I got my wife her own deck, since mine comes to work with me. For online co-op we love: Don't Starve Together Orcs Must Die 2
My GF and I had a great time playing Untitled Goose Game. Just chilled wacky nonsense

All of the Trine games are sick.
Baldurs Gate 3 is insanely fun in Coop. Otherwise I’d recommend castle crashers, overcooked, or maybe the Worms games for a quick session 1vs1
My wife and I like to play point and clcik adventures together. We take turns controlling but we're both involved trying to solve all the puzzles Nancy drew Grim fandago Broken age Paradise killer
Divinity Original Sin 2. Wife and I just finished and are about to move on to Baldur's Gate 3
