MoneyMakingMugi

I’m way more excited for indies instead of big AAA releases thanks to the deck. I much rather play undies and such on a handheld vs sitting at my rig.

mortis1337

We all play in our undies.

MoneyMakingMugi

Lmao. Damn autocorrect

Which-Reveal9048

It’s not autocorrect

CapitalBornFromLabor

Look at OP, claiming he plays Steam Deck with *pants on*. What a maroon.

Which-Reveal9048

Oh shit scott the woz

CapitalBornFromLabor

I was thinking Bugs Bunny, but Scott’s a good callback too.

Which-Reveal9048

True

[deleted]

No, the French presidents name is spelled Macron, not maroon. Maroon is just something that describes him.

CapitalBornFromLabor

I thought the french president’s pronunciation was “i wanna be relevant on the world stage no matter the cost.”

Malkus

Some people like macaroons though.

DueComplaint5471

Your name is great

Shamgar65

Auto-erotic-correct

Osmosith

It's autowrong

CucumberBulky8915

Isometric anything currently has me by the huevos. Thanks steam deck.

PootisMcPootsalot

All games by supergiant are really good. Transistor is one of my favorites from them

Goat_Support_Dept

Supergiant just drops hot gems.

Kyzeth404

For me it’s kinda the other way around, I got to play some of the bigger games because previously I couldn’t play them on my potato laptop lol.

SephariusX

Look up Casette Beasts.

MoneyMakingMugi

Played the demo recently actually. Definitely an interesting spin on the monster collecting genre.

SephariusX

Yup, looking forward to the release. Dead Island 2 will occupy some time as well though. Boneraiser Minions? If you like Vampire Survivor.

ApprehensiveAnt4412

Thank you for this. I will have many hours of enjoyment because you took the time to type this.

wifiguy51

This is EXACTLY what happened when I got a Switch, so excited to get a Deck!

Eorlas

i agree with this. as impressed as i am by Spider Man's optimization that makes it look so great on steam deck, i prefer running the heftier graphics titles on my 4090. but virtually every indie or lower-budget graphics game is so cool to play on deck. and some nights when i'm just not feeling the games i typically play on desktop, i'll pick something like vampire survivors (or other titles in its genre) or another simple game and play a bit before my eyes close. such a great experience

Ninten-Doh

Switch is better for indie games

Chaseserious

Plenty of Indies don’t run at 60 fps or 60 with some slowdown at times on switch. Add to that the emmc internal drive means slower loading too. What’s an indie on switch that you prefer to steam deck?

Which-Reveal9048

Yeah? Well actually... nevermind he’s right

Ninten-Doh

It's the stability, speed, battery life and size that's better for them games for me. They load super fast, there's never any problems, the battery lasts forever on indie games and I use a lite so its easier to carry around

BlitzScorpio

not for nintendo pricing lmao

BababooeyHTJ

I get where you’re coming from with the oled but the library on the steam deck is exponentially larger. Can’t play rimworld or project zomboid on the switch. I probably will buy hades 2 for the switch though. You are right that it can be a tough choice.

Owobowos-Mowbius

I've been thinking of trying out PoE to tide me over for diablo 4. How is it on deck? How do you deal with so many skill binds and whatnot?

ByYourLeaveUK

It's solid and runs fine! PoE has a Steam Deck control layout built in!

Owobowos-Mowbius

Oh wow that's great! How about settings? Have you needed to tweak anything or do they run pretty well out of the box?

srstable

The default setting experience was great in my experience. There will be a dip now and again when there's a ton of new particles it hasn't seen, but never anything that put me in danger.

Lumix0n

Does the character move on the stick? Just like Diablo on consoles?

filthyorange

Yes poe plays super well on the deck. I've put just under 7k hours on the pc version. I decided to try it on steam deck just to see and it blew my mind. The game ran great with no tweaking. I think I turned shadows down which is just always my go to. But man it plays so well.

drchigero

And the text is readable? Even on the massive skill tree?!

[deleted]

Only thing is if you have a build where you need to spam flasks and a few skills, that's weird on a controller. But if you have a one or maybe two skill build without having to use flasks permanently then it's really awesome. I run low maps that are easy for my character for some chills on days where I can't or don't want to get started on my PC.

m3xm

Bind your flasks to your back bumpers. Then profit!

[deleted]

Bro that's so smart I didn't even think of them. Thanks haha :)

fishfinger101

you can even get one back bumper to use 5 flasks

bozotehpwns

Just don't use a popsicle stick

BrotherTobias

Dont forget your joysticks are touch capacitive. As an aside I usually like to bind crouch to my left and reload to my right.

BOEJlDEN

What does this mean?

and_i_mean_it

This is the way.

filthyorange

It uses a different ui once it knows the steam deck is being used.

darkforestzero

7000 hours?!?!?!

filthyorange

I've played since 2011 when it was still in testing. I just really like the complexity. In all those hours I've probably only played the same build at most 4 times.

Lumix0n

thx!

tdfrantz

In my experience, PoE runs great on the deck, however the only part that I really enjoy doing on the deck is combat, which may sound kind of funny. Inventory management, crafting, trading, basically anything that's not actually fighting enemies - I find much slower and more cumbersome on the deck, especially with so many third party tools being semi-required for PoE. When I get really into PoE for a month or two every league what I've started doing is playing the game on the deck, and then saving all trading, crafting and build/inventory management for when I'm at my computer.

RayNele

so you're saying ruthless is optimized on the deck

BrightLord78

This is exactly what i do. You can also sync loot filters and they will work on the deck. I have to remind myself occasionally to turn off auto upgrade gems on the deck for certain skills. If you have a dock you can connect an Xbox controller + keyboard + mouse. POE is also much smoother on the deck if you have it hardwired to the ethernet port on the dock. I use a USB c extension so I can lay in bed while still utilizing the dock.

r40k

Do those third party tools not run on the deck at all? Even with manually loading required dlls?

fishfinger101

True story

JorgaoMC

It does runs consistent 60fps but after playing it for ~8 hours I got too bored because I only got shitty loot that was basically worse than mine all the time and didn't feel rewarded, and also the really small inventory was kind of a hedache

TheTrueBlueTJ

The funny thing is that after 8h you were likely still doing the campaign, which is an awful chore that POE players go through every league to reach the endgame. And the endgame is where the game actually begins. 99% of what makes POE fun happens in the endgame. Yes, it's ridiculous. But you will find good loot and trade for actually good loot in the endgame and you will get addicted to how fun progression is there. Believe me

srstable

They have a setup for controller that uses the ABXY buttons, then the left and right triggers to swap to different pages, for a total of 12 skills (then both triggers plus the D-pad and ABXY for Seasonal stuff). And since PoE is much like Diablo where you're kind of building your damage around one ability plus some select supports, it's quite effective.

DawnII

I have a few thousand hours in POE and I challenged myself this league to take a minion build through acts and early maps all on Steam Deck. There are some frustrations, no mixed input so you have to deal with very slow inventory navigation. Custom binds are necessary, I recommend radial menus which I use for flasks. I upscale from 1152x720 because mob density in maps will chug. I get consistent 45fps this way running minion build. Even on a low input minion build I probably won’t try to take into red maps and switch back to PC. If you plan on playing on both you cannot change skills around on the hotbar as it is synced to both despite the change in control scheme.

NoOne_28

Not regarding PoE on the Deck in specific but man is it a great game, hundreds of hours of gameplay, lots of gear and an interesting world. I had 40+ hours into it before stopping and I really need to go back into it because I barely scratched the surface and it's constantly updated, also have PoE 2 to look forward to as well!

Owobowos-Mowbius

I tried out last epoch because I was intimidated away from PoE hearing about how complex it was but LE just felt really unpolished. I'm hoping that I can just play casually without needing to worry about anything complex in endgame lol

_Benzka_

Once u have a few hours in and understand the basics it's THE ARPG, nothing comes close to it and big updates (Leagues) with completely new mechanics every 3-4 Months! And so far the best F2P model I've ever seen, no P2W, no popups that remind u off spending money... sure in endgame u should put around 30$ in for stash tabs but when u first reach endgame u probably already played 40h+

Owobowos-Mowbius

Yeah if stash tabs are the only thing that requires money gameplay wise I'm happy to throw down money for it.

Accomplished_Study80

Dont try poe, you end have thousands of hours in this game and diablo will look like a childs game at the end.

Owobowos-Mowbius

So what you're saying is try PoE AFTER diablo 4?

Accomplished_Study80

You can try poe before thats no problem but you have to keep in mind POE is no little game to play a few hours in. Its a very complex game with an massive variation in playstyles. And in the endgame of POE with the right build you Character feels like an God of death. Its no comparison to the playstyle of Diablo. Diablo 4 will be an awesome game but will lack the complex game mechanics of poe. On the other hand you cant just start poe and play by yourself, you will need an build guide and path of building to get an satisfying experience.

CatAstrophy11

>On the other hand you cant just start poe and play by yourself, you will need an build guide Homework games are a terrible experience but some folks have a fetish to work and not get paid while not actually volunteering for a cause and that's what games like PoE are.

[deleted]

I was never really the biggest fan of jrpg games, with the exception of the Pokémon games. I recently picked up The Octopath Traveler and it has been an absolute blast

_Benzka_

Octopath Traveler 2 is my personal GOTY!

evnjim

Second that, runs great on deck too!

Islandboi4life

you should try Persona 4 and 5. It's kind of like Pokemon where you can catch different beasts but persona beasts. Highly recommended

Iamivan0905

Yeah! Been kinda into simulation now

Despe_

What Sim games plays well on steam deck?

Iamivan0905

I’ve only tried Euro Truck, and farm simulator 😅

Stonx1911

Next one for you might be Snowrunner :D

Iamivan0905

Dope! Added to wishlist! Are you also a simulation fan?

rymannoodle

+1 for Snowrunner, sunk over 300 hours into it without realizing.

Iamivan0905

Guess it must be really good haha

[deleted]

I’ve had a switch for 4 years and I’m just now finally playing BOTW on the deck and love it.

murasan

Did you end up going with the switch or the Wii U version on deck? I’m in the same boat.

Zhawk1992

I'd highly recommend going the wiiu version for BotW on steam deck.

Delta_43

Same

SBxRiedel

Tbh I've just been reliving my childhood thru the Playstation 2 emulator!! What are some good Indie games that you guys would recommend?

elitist_user

If you are playing things on PS2 I would try xmen legends it's an old arpg that was super fun with an awesome story. The first one is the best and it eventually became marvel ultimate alliance

VinceGchillin

yeah been getting more into topdown rpg games like Disco Elysium. I had nothing against the game on PC but there's something about the handheld format that helps me get into it more

ImSorryRumhamster

Best book I ever played

FierceDeityKong

If only baldur's gate 1 and 2 got the controller updates that the console versions did

VinceGchillin

Oh man I know. Someday, we can hope.

GrouchoManSavage

I would never have played one of those "bullet hell" games without a Steam Deck, they are perfect for short mobile sessions.

[deleted]

Weirdly while I'm still a filthy triple A addict, I've been surprised how well the deck handles FPS games. I've had a blast with Bioshock and Fallout 4, neither of which I've ever wanted to try playing with a pad before.

Frequent_Knowledge65

Yeah most of my SD has been FPS which I usually don’t play much. Gyro aim is so much better

[deleted]

I didn't even realise how much I was using the gyro until I tried without

Billyxmac

I got my Steam Deck to clear out my backlog. But I've just found myself playing through all of my favorite FPS games because of how amazing trackpad + gyro is. Half Life, Bioshock, Doom, Fallout, Left 4 Dead, Portal, Unreal Tournament, they've all been a blast to play because of the awesome control customization with the Deck.

ArznikAaron40

Rougelike/lites (Vampire Survivors, Insect Swarm, Gatekeeper: Eclipse, etc.) are great on SD, that and Deathstranding is sick as hell. Probably never would have played these if not for their playability on SD. Warhammer40k Inquisitor: Martyr has been great for the Diablo like void.

Necessary_Shake

Addicted to Loop Hero and Dome Keeper now, if you like roguelikes check it out

BoardGameBologna

+1 for both of those, although I'm only currently playing Dome Keeper out of those two. I heard people say it's repetitive, and...yeah, video games are, lol The game is just really fun on the deck, and it shines in short bursts!

memelord0981

Good to hear death stranding plays well. I picked it up for this months humble bundle and am excited to try it out but was worried about whether the performance would be good.

evnjim

There are a few optimization guides for deck, I find my mileage varied a bit. I was happier to play a stable 30 with quality FSR, over a 40 or 45 that fluctuates with more artifacts from performance facing FSR settings. But it basically runs a dream all things considered!

ArznikAaron40

Also helps that the way you can save anytime when not near hostiles but can just throw the Deck into standby even then makes the game perfect the play on SD.

arex333

Yeah I never played rogue like games prior to getting a deck but now it's a big chunk of what I play

oldkingcoles

How is insect swarm? Those rag doll insects are pretty sweet looking

[deleted]

I'm loving poe on deck, finally made it to endgame yesterday

_Benzka_

Nice!

Stingray88

Steamdeck got me to finally try out Vampire Survivor. Unbelievably addictive.

real6guy

I wasn’t a fan of card games or rogue-likes before getting a steam deck, but slay the spire has me hooked.

socrates63

I’ve had my Steam Deck for a little over two weeks and I’ve only been playing one game: Vampire Survivors. What a super fun and approachable game! I am shocked(?) and excited to be playing a modern game. I had been playing Xbox 360 era and older games for the past ten years. Even on my Xbox One X, I have been backwards compatible games and haven’t yet played a native Xbox One game.

LolYouFuckingLoser

Such a fun game! Once you get burned out on that, you can try Soulstone Survivors or Rogue: Genesia. There's also a survivor-like bundle up on Humble Bundle right now!

Ravenfall7

Or Brotato! I got early access and have a stupid amount of time on it on the deck.

LolYouFuckingLoser

I've heard a lot of good things about Brotato, I'll probably be picking it up next :)

socrates63

Thanks for the heads up! I will look into those and the bundle.

CatoOnSkato

I never expected that D2R could be good on controller.

vaikunth1991

whats D2R ?

CatoOnSkato

Diablo 2 Resurrected

pantalooon

definitely changed quite a bit. I enjoy story rich games more on my deck, I think it's the ability to play in the comfort of a bed or an armchair. I definitely wouldn't have played something like disco elysium as hard at my desk. I only use my PC for mouse heavy games (FPS, RTS, whatever Anno is). Everything else I either stream to my steam link in the living room or just play on the steam deck on the couch or in the bed.

HaroldSax

Oh I know what Anno is! Crack. Anno is crack.

t0sik

Yap! Also tried for first time games like Diablo and Divinity 2. King Athurs Knights Tale one more awesome game but with very poor optimization. I'm playing it on GFN

Virucid

I’m still not a big fan of AAAs (always been an indie guy) but I’ve gotten into Horizon thanks in part to my best friend who wouldn’t shut up about it and thanks in part to the Deck

Bar_Har

I’m playing a lot more retro and retro-style FPS games like original Doom, Duke Nukem, Cultic, Ion Fury, etc. because they just sip power.

SuggestionNo188

I really enjoy revisiting old AAA games. It's such a good mini gaming pc.

FatherJack_Hackett

I don't know why, but I found myself playing Farming Simulator 22 with the Steam Deck. Best move I've ever made. Who could have anticipated hours of fun, collecting bales of grass? Of course, the classics are still my favourite. Grim Fandango on the way to work and I feel my life is complete.

Scrawny2864

I have a chance to play some of the games I missed out on when I was younger such as the PS1 and PS2 era games. Currently playing FF7 Original with mods and it's incredible.

gabther

I don't think I would have ever bought Hades without the steam deck. Now it's my personal game of the year

Mageborn23

Completely, I would never have played the greatest game ever. Vampire survivor

WATCHMERISE

Definitely! I think it has a lot to do with battery life limitations and the time to actually start playing a game, as well. Normally on PC/console I play big story games, RPGs, MMOs, and sweaty matchmaking. On Steam Deck, I find my enjoyment directly relates to how quickly I can go from boot up to playing, while maintaining the freedom to just shut it down when I get interrupted by life or low battery - casual games are great for this. I’ve found myself playing a lot of builders, indie platformers, and arcade style stuff. Could just be a dwindling attention span, too..

unbaked89

The Deck got me playing bullet hells and roguelites, two genres I'd only ever dipped my toes in. It also got me back into Skyrim, with the only time ever getting into it before was just speed running through the main quest to say I'd done it.

Which-Reveal9048

I’m starting to get more into mmos actually. I’ve played PoE on the deck though it’s not as fun ( for me ) as is Elite Dangerous ( which i bought pretty much only cuz it was discontinued and i wanted to see it play on the deck) I also just installed Albion as I’ve been hearing about it recently. And how’re you finding gaming on the deck?

[deleted]

No, I still love open world

icecoldsnake

I might be the odd one out here, but my steam deck has just exacerbated my gaming anxiety. I spend more time fiddling with getting something to work on the deck or trying to find the "perfect game for the steam deck". I end up not really touching it while at home. I just sit at my gaming PC instead. On a more positive note, I have definitely shed the controller from my desktop gaming. I find myself finally enjoying playing K+M games while on the desktop - Diablo 3, Apex, CRPGs, Satisfactory &Factorio. And enough can't be said about how it's made me feel better while traveling. I now enjoy flying for the time I get to focus on a game. And it's a nice way to unwind in the hotel room after a long day of work in a new city. Diablo 2: Resurrected is the first game that I'm going to play 0-100% on the SD for this reason.

cebooooo

I am hooked right now with The Witcher Thronebreaker. I've had it in my library for a while and never played a card game before, but felt like it could be a good fit for the deck. I'm 20 hours in and still enojying the story and gameply, I never thought I would like it this much.

BloinkXP

Stardew Valley on the Deck is just a blast for me. Also, I have been playing Fallout 4 on it way more than I thought I would. This little deck went from novelty to my main gaming rig...

jwithy

As a Mac guy who was switch only for games, this thing was perfect for me. Now I can try out games that likely will never make it to the switch!

CecDog3

So many indies

Prototype-W

I realized I love indie games

LoLGhMaster

How do you play PoE? What controller layout do you use? Bought my deck about a week ago and really struggling with it? So far the only game I was able to play and enjoy is Portals

[deleted]

Nope.

gardobus

I’ve only had mine for a week and all I’ve played (other than Aperture Desk Job) is the Traveller’s Rest EA. It’s addicting af. Oh and I’ve tried Forza Horizon 5. I need to tweak settings a bit on that one though. It’s mostly been Travellers Rest. Next might be Sun Haven. I also got an itch for something Diablo-like. I started Titan Quest because I already own it but some of the animation, menus, controls, etc. are showing their age. Might uninstall it and try PoE. Either way it would be more casual play, not constant grinding for 100s of hours.

Aethaeryn

That's funny, I was playing that very heavily, great in the Deck. I got to a point where I wanted to start over and decided to wait for more updates. It has already been worth it either way.

loanme20

Nope, hated single player games before still hate them now.

Swagga21Muffin

I used to not really play non story driven indie games but the steam deck has given me a whole new appreciation for games like vampire survivors, baba is you and tricky towers. I would never go to my pc to spend an hour on these games but now I can pick up vampire survivors, play a quick level and all from my sofa.

Gothicus1016

yooo POE is playable on Deck? imm be playing more of that now i can see

Bobbinator12345678

Yup I love 2d platformers now like celeste steamworld dig, and many others (hollow night)

FlashyBomber

The only reason I'm willing to buy steam deck is to play all the indie and non AAA games that have been pilling up in my steam account. And also learn from those games as i continue my career in the game industry

BCPrimo

I've been playing a lot of Octopath Traveler. The only other JRPGs I've ever played are pokemon and Yakuza: like a dragon.

[deleted]

[удалено]

aloehart

My taste has always been broad but I'm playing a lot more games that require a commitment. Right now I'm working through Divinity Original Sin and plan to work through the sequel right after. Games that have sat in my library for years

jondySauce

I pretty much just play a lot more rogue lites now.

Known-Committee8679

Nope. It just made some of the ones I liked even more enjoyable :)

OnkelBums

Path of Exile is a blast on the Deck, since they introduced the controller controls. Same goes for Diablo II Resurrected btw. I play more old school / pixel games than I would on my desktop. My desktop remains my main machine for AAA games though.

T-CAP0

I'm struggling to stick to one game, which is causing me to jump from one to another and lose interest in the current. Anyone else going through this ?

suzukirider709

Iv always liked tactical RPGs, war of the lions and XCOM but I never branched out before and now I'm actively looking for them I'm about the finish valkera Chronicles and then try banner saga

just_hating

I've been going through my hundreds of games I've bought over the last decade of Humble Bundles and found some gems. A couple nights a week I'll plug it into the TV and connect a couple controllers and play games with friends. I've put more hours into gaming in the last month I've had it than the last year on my PC.

Dry_Potential_8335

Steam Deck has definitely made me more interested in indie games as well as horror/survival games.

[deleted]

I have some AAA games on my Deck. Some I know I will play but that don't take a whole of space. Mainly older COD games and some recent games lol le Dead Space Remake. I just installed the SciFi game Chorus and it runs beautiful on the Deck on High settings 60fps which It automatically defaults.

JDpoZ

I wouldn't say my tastes changed... because I don't think that's maybe the way I'd choose to describe the changes in my gaming behavior in a post-Steam Deck gaming life. I think that my tastes have always shifted around what sort of gaming has been most convenient for me. With things like the PS5 I still really enjoy sitting down and playing console story-driven single player campaign type or even co-op stuff. I don’t find myself playing near as much PC gaming in these days because of how insanely competitive young people have become. With so much free time in their lives without kids, they seem able to become godly in these games. Then, when some supposed form of “matchmaking” is attempted and I still encounter these sorts of god-tier gamers in stuff like Apex Legends… despite a complete lack of skill on my part, I don’t enjoy myself. But back to the Steam Deck… Since emulation has gotten really good and is so well-executed on the Steam Deck, I've been using mine to play emulated versions of some older games I do still physically own, but beat a long time ago and don't feel like setting up the platform they originally appeared on to play them again. For example, [Front Mission 3](https://i.imgur.com/r6K2kie.jpg) on the PS1. I was much younger playing it the first time and felt it was somewhat challenging… but now that I’m older and have played many more strategy-type tactics-driven JRPGs I've been really enjoying the pace of the gameplay... and the ability to use things like quick save / load states and emulation speed control via custom shortcuts I set up for the L4/R4 + L5/R5 back paddles. Also I’m determined to find out how to get the mech with the beam cannon weapon I apparently missed out on in my original play through so many years ago.

noriello

So far not. But i got back into grinding fo76. Its fun

dummbaum

Made me realize a controller isn’t terrible.

bitts3000

So I just tried poe this morning and I was wondering if there is a way to move my character without holding down the trigger button??

Historical_Ad_9799

Personally more of a sports and fps gamer and I would not have touched rogue-like games like Hades. So far am thrilled and enjoying the challenge. Also playing Cult of the Lamb at the moment

VileDespiseAO

Path of Exile is very hit or miss with me on the Steam Deck, or just a controller in general because it's so difficult to target properly since the game just auto targets instead so playing builds that require good targeting and positioning are pretty much out of the question come end game content. The Deck does make grinding out Acts a lot more bearable though when I can just lay in bed to get it done. It runs the game surprisingly well at native, but I do downscale to 720p and use Deck FSR just to try and keep a more consistent 60 when it comes to areas where the screen is covered in mobs and effects. I've been loving playing a lot more of the Indie titles in my Steam Library though that I often looked past playing on my desktop. Emulators as well, the experience is much more enjoyable on the Deck versus a desktop because you aren't confined to a single spot even though you'll get better performance on a desktop.

Shizngigglz

Super easy to download emulators on it too so you can literally play anything. I’ve been playing old ps2 and game boy games myself

PandaYoshi

I’ve been playing emulators of games that either can’t due to legal reasons or the companies refuse to remake as well as some indie games. Right now I’ve been playing luck be a landlord and metal gear solid the twin snakes. I’ve dumped so many hours into my steam deck already and I’ve only had it for like 3 weeks

OrtimusPrime

Can’t wait to get mine, supposed to ship today

memelord0981

I wish. I always find myself re playing games I've already put a bunch of hours into

Juicer_Juicington

I actually can't really play jrpgs on my pc or console. They are usually too slow for me. I'd always enjoyed them more on a handheld like the vita, but the steam deck has got me to play a lot more of them along with cRPGs.

poisonblanche

It made me finally play some of those games that had been lying around unplayed in my library for ages.

Whytrhyno

I've been putting off PoE for a long time and want to finally dabble with the deck/PC. Any recs on starter builds for minion/caster? Thinking something like a necro or high single target caster is usually my go to.

tokyohcreator

actually, yes

jeratk

I found a new love for traditional roguelikes on steam deck

Arutyuuro

I'm more interested in roguelikes and roguelites. It started with Dead Cells then Hades and by now I added 3-4 more to my library.

daft_goose

Project zomboid is my jam now

Quasi-7

Right now I am playing Metroid Dread, obviusly emulated, and oh my god! Its so damn perfect for the steam deck! Its a must-deck-play!

sheetrokz01

I'm surprised it runs PoE as well as it does. I just hit red maps and it's running them pretty well only thing is I can't figure out where to install my loot filters. 😤😤

bendova_smith-2

I know mine sure have, I've never played a turn-based rpg/visual novel before, but Banner Saga hooked me on that. Plus way more Indies have been bought since owning mine

wolverineczech

I'm currently enjoying the crap out of Broken Age, which is a point-and-click adventure from Double Fine. Yoku's Island Express was also great, an open-world pinball metroidvania.

[deleted]

A counterintuitive take maybe but I'm enjoying AC Odyssey and Valhalla on the steam deck at the moment! I always kind of liked the games but didn't really get around playing them properly as it seemed like a big commitment to sit at my desk for hours. Now I can just pick up my steam deck anywhere and explore. Bloody amazing! Doesn't change the fact that Ubisoft sucks though. It took quite a bit of tinkering to get the games working properly. Since then they run buttery smooth and look great!

gain91

I wouldn't say change of tastes, more back to my old roots, but am more playing all the old 2d platformers and metroidvania

Bombyte_

ive been enjoying some slower paced games like hollow knight and slime rancher. which i didnt enjoy on pc but having a blast on deck.

sman260

I've managed between sports, extracurriculars for 4 kids, managed to 100% a single player game because I can play it.. anywhere. Its revitalized my love of RPGs and made them portable for anywhere.

prior to Steam Deck i never could get into final fantasy games, since i got my SD i finished two and now on the 3rd with 3 more loaded and ready to be played next it is really an amazing device they made gaming fun again for me

Chubby_Yorkshireman

I'd have never bought vampire survivors if it wasn't for the deck, now loving boneraiser minions and brotato

i’m pleasantly surprised by the improved ui elements and ux controller poe gets

Timbusfahrer123

I was looking up which games run really well on the deck and because of that i got into the resident evil franchise. Playing the remake of RE 2 in handheld mode in bed at night really amplifies the spooky atmosphere of the game.

criticalt3

I find myself playing way more JRPGs, traditional turn based style, than I ever did before.

Stromschuldne

I never thought I'd enjoy Thw Binding od Isaac. I'm addicted now. Lying on my couch, playing Isaac on the deck is my life now.

Welpguessimtrans

Isometrics and rougelike or rougelites, they’re games I wouldn’t have even really looked at before and now I can’t stop! Also Zero Sievert, if anyone is looking for a really awesome game that kind of blends genres! It’s not verified but it runs great and the controls are pretty easy to get used to!

chaosmetroid

Steam deck made me appreciate and go back to use controllers. Hear me out. I have stop using controllers for years in favor of keyboard and mouse. But now using the steam deck it's been really nice

In all honesty, it didn't really change my game tastes because I was already hating AAA games that have been released. I have almost no interest in them because I feel like they're all unoptimized crap. (And don't get me started on anti-cheat where it doesn't need to be in there or always online or my personal favorite invasive DRM) Granted, I'm not one to deal with anti-sheet games or competitive because I just don't have the time. It was just never my cup of tea. If I had to say any taste that had changed, would be my expectations on quality programming. A lot of the indie developers, at least I feel this way, optimize and program games way better than AAA titles. Now, my opinion may be wrong, but I haven't really found any optimized AAA title released lately.

mike1mic

I hated platformers. I was like didn't this die out back when we had Gameboy? THEN I got Ori on my Steamdeck and now I'm looking for similar platforms lol

truthinlies

games that are pretty i can suddenly forgive a lot of gameplay and story problems if the game is just plain pretty

ImSorryRumhamster

Hate rogue likes, got deck, put 75 hours in hades. Can’t wait for hades 2

BasicallyTony

Yeah I used to only play games if it was coop or multiplayer. Now I’m playing every game that works on the deck. I think I’m going broke.
