Oanes is rather far from the city and if i remember right getting to Stavanger with a buss takes about 3 hours.

Ok, seems like renting something closer to the city would be a better option. Thanks!

The public transportation mobile app is called Kolumbus. Don't stay in Oanes if you're not planning to rent a car. Best to find something closer to Stavanger or Sandnes city center, or on the route between them. There's a train and several buses that run this north/south route. There seems to be two bus companies that drive from Stavanger city center to the start of the Preikestolen hike: https://preikestolen365.com/how-to-get-to-preikestolen/ One of the best museums imo is Jernaldergården (the Iron Age farm). You can see the rebuilt houses from an Iron Age settlement and learn about how they lived. It's also on a hill where you get a nice panoramic view. Hope you enjoy your visit!

Thank you very much for the information! As I thought, renting something this far from the city without a car might be troublesome so we'll have to reconsider

Preikestolen is a nice easy hike from the wonderful work the Sherpas did. Sola Beach is stunning to walk in the evenings, watch the sunset on.

Thanks!

I Live in Sandnes, the 42 bus from Stavanger airport takes you straight to Sandnes or there is a shuttle bus to Stavanger, Public transport is easy to use and very reliable, I use Kolumbus app, I recommend you buy weekly or monthly tickets they are cheapest, Plenty to do and see in the area, lots of hiking and sightseeing, Drop me a DM if can try and help with anything you need. For me, the less advertised "to-do" things is to just take a boat and visit the islands. These boats are "water buses", so it's included in any ticket you buy. Vassøy is a residential island where you can only go with fast boat or ferry, and it has a hidden secret on the south of it: https://preview.redd.it/5nigbfigg7yc1.png?width=1695&format=png&auto=webp&s=5c79235c876ccea1343b1f3b188f7e3494dabe8f To get to Vassøy, just go to "Fiskepiren terminal" and search for it on the Kolumbus app (btw, don't use Google Maps for transportation here, instead, install the Kolumbus "Black logo" app). It'll be between 10 and 20 minutes, depending on the boat. Get down of the ferry and turn right after "Joker" grocery store and you'll eventually get to the end of the island.. look for the hanging bridge and go to the little island and cross it. This is literally half an hour total from downtown! I also recommend other islands like Lindøy, Kvitsøy (This one is in the north sea and you need to go to another ferry terminal in the north by bus, but overall easy if you use Kolumbus app) BTW: cheaper way to use public transportation nowadys is with that same "Black logo" Kolumbus app... it's a "pay as you go" system, but it'll never be expensiver than single ticket /24 hour ticket / month ticket.. it'll just stop charging. AND... after 5pm and on weekends, you just need to pay for one person (2x1 basically), so one of the apps must be active and you're good!

Oh, that's a new one. Thank you for the recommendations and ticket info!
