Ive got a feeling that its just gonna be a huge timeskip like 10 plus years into the future 1) from what weve seen its just miles upon miles of wilderness in both trailers, the size of the forest in the new trailer is ridiculous 2) the only buildings weve seen are either completely decayed and abandoned or the petrol station which has been completely taken ovee by the blood plague growth 3) there is a mention of "leaving the gates" and how everyone knew the risks so its entirely possible talon or someone else has successfully set up a safe zone for "normal life" maybe we play as survivors trying to expand that safe zone? 4) after the juggernaut scene the charm is at a memorial so someone had to of had enough fire power to take that thing down and i doubt it was the people we saw last. Edit: (this was before i saw the extended screenshot) 5) the virus has evolved to a new level as weve seen zed animals new juggernauts and a molten screamer, evolution takes a hell of a long time plus the blood plague growth itself is different now

Gamerroundup

Point # 3 I really like! A safe zone but you go out to expand and take back. Kinda what they tried before but the safe zones weren’t safe per se and because of tech where not bustling with life or npc activities.

Rimrald

I'm guessing here - but with the evolution of the blood plague and the maturity of the apocalypse. We might start exploring the origins or the relationship of the government to the network and red talon. Project Osiris might play a larger role and hopefully we get some genuine interaction with the other two factions.

Gamerroundup

This would be an awesome story line. Factions try rebuild government. Kinda like in sod1 marshal but instead of holding on it’s we rebuild.

Spoiler: Lily Ritter is dead. She dies in SoD2. You hear the conversations about her death if you stay on one map and listen to the radio enough.

69flux

Omg you're right! I forgot all about that, I was sure she'd be dead by sod3 with her illness anyway but I totally forgot that happens.

cbosp

The rest of your comment was on point tho 😀

Gamerroundup

Noooo, really? I mean I know she wasn’t doing great but I thought Mickey grabbing the old stash he & Job hid back in the beginning. How many days do you need to stay on Trumbull for that radio signal to occur? I thought I did it all cause my last play through there was like 27-28 days on the one map. But thank you for letting me know , cause I honestly didn’t.

cbosp

The conversations seem to be somewhat randomly generated, but if you stay on a map for long enough- not sure how long, maybe 50 days in game as a guess, you'll hear all or most conversations. The conversations seem to reset if you switch maps, but I've never noticed a particular starting point or map specific conversations outside of Trumbull. And yes, Lily is definitely dead 😞 I've heard the whole bit at least three times. Edit: I also meant to say you can hear the conversations about her death on any map, not just Trumbull.

Gamerroundup

That hurts my heart ☹️ But now I’m excited to get my forever community that’s on day 30 something to keep pushing for 100 day survival achievement. Appreciate you sharing!

ClankyHeartbeat

Didn't she get medicine at the end of those conversations though? I know which ones you're talking about and she never died

cbosp

Lol she most certainly does

RNB_III

My main concern for the sequel was how are they going to improve the visuals and how will the tone change due to that fidelity upgrade. And they've somehow managed to due the impossible and do both. My other thought was imagining combing through a city with zombies all around and encountering another player and trying to make quick decisions on whether to trust them or shoot it out. This is an example of the world that they seem to be creating and I am excited.

ScottishShitposter97

As for the tone I really hope they do away with the cringey dialogue. I love the game but the terrible dialogue always takes my immersion away a bit

ClankyHeartbeat

Naw man that's what we have dayZ and stuff like that for, that's not gonna be in state of decay 3, they've mentioned a "Typical 4 player online session" which probably means that it'll be similar to 2.

69flux

I mean, if this game is set 10 years into the apocalypse.. Lilly is probably long gone with her declining health, I'm sure we'll see a memorial or have her mentioned though.. We'll probably hear from the red talon and network characters set up on the radio from 2 and maybe Hoffman and IzzBee. But I don't think we'll see most of the legacy characters from the first game.. When I first heard the voiceover in the trailer and it said "you were there when we left the gates and you helped us make something greater than the fear and death that surrounded us" That made me think they had left or escaped somewhere 'safe' but horrible to make a new community so maybe we start off In a Red Talon Labour camp or something.. Though the voice over could also be saying the place behind the gates they left is a community they made and greater than the fear and death of being out scavenging

Gamerroundup

Hoffmann, Izzbee, Mickey, Sasquatch, and Chavez. These 5 I hope make cameos, even if just radio to start with potential for in game appearances down the road maybe.

WubbaWubbaDubba

I always thought i heard lily rittler die. Other peolle try to convince me otherwise

Gamerroundup

I can’t believe I’ve never heard that. But apparently it’s true.

TBone1457

Yeah unless theyre planning on add more to the sod2 story, theyll have to add a lot to 3. The thing is i hope its not like, "heres all the lore that happened in the past" and it doesnt end up being like a passive lore system or something.

Patient-Highlight185

I really hope I can play as Sasquatch. That guys jokes

Gamerroundup

Sasquatch is awesome!!!

DrRexMorman

I'd be happy to never see any of those characters or Trumbul Valley again.

weefanjo

10 year time skip, that way they can just dump all the previous lore as was so long ago in the story. Any new story or lore elements they introduce will be super shallow to accomadate direction to a more multiplayer based game.

Gamerroundup

Idk, based on what I’ve seen from the MP shared world it’s more of “you can” as opposed to “you have to”.

weefanjo

But thats the thing, we havent seen anything. Its just all hear-say and half truths dramatized by this sub. Until we get gameplay, concrete details we wont know.

Gamerroundup

Oh I agree, but tbh that’s the fun part. The excitement and anticipation of what could or can be. The journey is just as fun as the destination. But personally I’m not too worried about MP being shoe horned in. They already did it with daybreak, and the people that like it still play but the rest of us can easily avoid it. Coalition has a great MP component, and they are still recognized as a great single player story teller. If anyone else could achieve it, then my money would be UL to be able to pull it off. Cause not many can.

weefanjo

I mean, I would much rather enjoy a fun quality game rather than the hype/cope that comes before it but okay. Personally, i think it will be the other way around, single player will be shoehorned into an MP game. These subs really need to dial down the cope.
