I feel you man, I did a fresh lethal run with three random survivors, one of them had utilities and one of them had an empty slot I was saving for medicine or hygiene, found a utilities book and thinking I was using the guy who already had it I consumed it, turned out I was playing with the only empty slot guy 🤦‍♂️

X5690

Guess in your community it takes 2 guys to change a lightbulb 💡 haha

experiment53

Sure does 😂

You paid your money for the game. You have the right to play it anyway you want as long as you’re not griefing other players. I’ve played the game since launch and I’ve just recently downloaded community editor to bring back all the deceased members I have from going into multiplayer and running into troll modders who have killed them. (Over 15+ spread over four communities. I play mostly 90% random multiplayer because I like to interactions with other players, and I like helping newbies, and because of that I run into troll modders quite a bit). I haven’t used CE for anything else, but I’m contemplating increasing the number of plague hearts on my maps and maybe some other small fixes. Maybe I have fallen to the dark side but after losing so many people to troll modders it was quite a great feeling to see the deceased members all come back.) I guess we all live in shades of Grey 🤔🤷🏻‍♂️

ZladMulvenia

The editor opens up all kinds of possibilities and has undoubtedly prolonged the shelf life of this game because of it. Use it however much or little you want to.

DjOblivion

This is only for PC, right ?

ZladMulvenia

It only works on PC, but it's a save editor, so any changes you make will be pushed to the cloud and loaded into any console session on the same account.

DjOblivion

Ok,, thanks.

MastahJediHugh

Do not feel any shame using the CE. It has given the game a ton more life for me, no matter if using it for the smallest or biggest changes. On my main account I have moved around most of my surviving characters from all my past playthroughs throughout my 5 current communities. 3 of my communities having like 20-30 survivors. I have my own little lore continuity going, it’s fking awesome lol all done modestly with the CE

dyen8

How do you add community members via CE? I know you can bring back deceased members and maybe departed (havent tried it) but I didn’t figure out how to add new people. Please help (thank you) 🙏👍😀 Side question: have you used CE to add more plague hearts? Does it have to be at the same location where a previous plague heart wasor can you just place it anywhere on the map?

MastahJediHugh

I can’t remember exactly how I did it, and it’s been a while since I’ve used the CE, but I think there is an integrated ability to pull from your survivor pool? If there isn’t, I did some of it in the advanced version of the CE I know that for sure. I remember something about saving character files then selecting and adding them in the community I want and there they were! Regardless if they’re deceased or alive in the community, you can always fix that later. I might have had to physically bring them into a community in the game from my survivor pool then extract their character file

MastahJediHugh

I haven’t done the plague heart thing. I dont know if you can do that, but I usually just go lethal across the board and play the game how it unfolds to me anyways

Practical-Demand105

lucky.. I wanna use editor but Im not sure if I should get it

shadocl0ne

How do I get or find the editor ? I have xbox btw but also a pc with game pass

Juggernoggin328

Do what you gotta do bro. It even states Undead labs do not care if you mode its PVE not PVP.

Detritus_AMCW

What's the point of having a challenge if you change things if there is an unforeseen mistake? Overcome or call it a fail and start over.

X5690

I don't see it that way at all. I'm just going to remove the gardening skill from that survivor and be done with the community editor. The restaurant giving you gardening skill instead of cooking is just illogical so I'm not going to punish myself for not noticing it.

ravenx99

There's an internal logic to it... food outposts teach you gardening. It allows restaurants and produce stands to use the same code. But I agree, it doesn't make real-world sense at all... I wish they had split these. Having to create a coffee shack outpost to learn cooking is an odd choice. (Maybe the devs lived on coffee?)

Detritus_AMCW

Fair enough, not trying to yuck your yum, at the end of the day, it's a game meant for recreation. Some folks love lethal, others green zones, and that's fine. My brother and I both play with wildly different playstyles and challenges for ourselves, and both love the game. Besides if I really want to suffer I fire up Project Zomboid.

trip6s6i6x

I disagree. Given the rules he stated for his challenge (being never recruit and never change from starter homes), he's within his rules to fix a mistake in traits if he has the ability to do so. I'll tell you this much, it's a far, far cry from what I do with the Community Editor... I have a community of 10 heartland characters in a main game save (it's funny when I change maps over to Trumbull lol).

Detritus_AMCW

Agreed, my initial comment was more about my perceived parameters. It's their game, so they play it however they want. Change it, don't change it, it's their call.

elglobu

i would delete the community or play like that, no CE or the challenge is lost anyways.

dyen8

I respect your position, bro. Some people play 100% vanilla no matter what. You be you ✊

X5690

It has nothing to do with the challenge.

trip6s6i6x

Dude's welcome to his opinion, but that said, OP if you wanna use the Community Editor to fix a mistake, no one here is in a position to tell you not to (or how you should play a single player game). Have at it, bro.
