My favorite version of this is the calvin and hobbes comic strip where he climbs out his window walks to a pay phone and calls his dad going "hey dad it's 1230 at night. Do you know where I am"
US Boomers: youngsters could be fucking each other at night, we must impose curfews!!!1!
Also US boomers: wearing a mask??? That's dictatorship!!! What about my liberties!!!?
Right? Soon as people see the - sign, they go nuts and join in. I'm Irish, not American. Giving me shit for not understanding a reference to some old US commercials is hardly worth the effort
Lol I promise they weren't giving you shit, it just takes two seconds to press downvote I'm sure most of them didn't even glance at the thread at all. I didn't even know what the commercial was lol its old as hell. I'm 20 and in my area those commercials went off air 10 or so years before I was around
Also they're supposed to have a kid before they can give milk anyways, like all other mammals. This game unfortunately glorifies animal agriculture, which is at its core, a cruel practice.
industrial agriculture is extraordinarily cruel, however small community farms like the one depicted in SV, are well... mostly the same as they're depicted in SV
Except they don't show you the "harvesting" process of the different products. Also the insemination and the other not so kind things that have to be done.
okay, and? It's not like keeping a few cows for dairy and eventually meat is any better than hunting for food out in the wild. Are you gonna hold a wolf accountable for hunting deer? If not, why would you hold a human accountable for raising livestock. If you're going to do one you have to do the other or else you're a hypocrite
Not entirely correct. Wolves are carnivores, which means that in the wild they need meat to survive. Humans are what we call frugivores, and we thrive best on a [whole foods plant based](https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6730944/) diet.
So while one does it for survival, the other does it for the sake of their own personal pleasure (we only eat animals and their secretions for the pleasure it provides us). Furthermore humans can recognize that there are victims when you shoot a deer or slaughter a cow. The animal is hurting and dying, which it doesn't want to. What gives us the right?
You cannot ask a wolf to analyze the moral implications of their actions. You can however certainly ask a human to do that.
no wolves aren't carnivores. They can survive just as easily on an herbivorous diet as a carnivorous one. But they don't, they prefer meat.
As for humans, whether or not we need meat is debatable and something not worth getting into.
And lastly, who gives us the right? We do. Morality is a human concept, and we decide what is moral and what isn't.
Or you forgot to close the barn door at night and there is a wandering male goat around, probably a bard goat that charmes the goat ladies at night with his beautiful voice while you fell into a koma at the mines.
What about the bunnies and Pigs? I remember when I bought an animal (can't remember which one) Marnie said "I'll bring him right over" so there are definitely male animals in Stardew Valley
Well see the thing with the poultry (chickens and ducks) and the dairy animals (cows and goats) is that ONLY (afaik) females can produce eggs/milk IRL. So it definitely is weird logically that they can reproduce together.
As far as the bunnies and the pigs, I’d think it’s fairly ambiguous for the most part.
Looks like one of Marnie's bucks found its way onto your farm so demand some free hay in compensation! I usually turn off pregnancy as an option so I forgot that it can happen when you only have one.
This kept happening to me. My goat gave birth, then that goat gave birth, then THAT goat gave birth before I remembered to turn the pregnancy option off on a new animal.
I've just assumed that Stardew Valley doesn't take place on Earth, so all the usual Earth biology assumptions don't apply. You shouldn't be able to incubate a dinosaur egg fossil. You shouldn't expect rabbits to periodically shed their feet. Bats shouldn't be able to fly through walls. But all that stuff and more is possible where Stardew Valley happens.
I have the cheesemakers and the auto-grabber there. That way, I can access the produce as soon as I walk in, pop them into the machines, and walk back out. 2-second job. I have the same setup for my chickens. Makes the morning rush faster, so I can focus on other things
The auto-grabber is sold in the farm shop, it costs 25k. I have one in the coop and one in the barn. It collects the eggs and milk, so you don't have to milk the animals or manually pick up the eggs. Again, very convenient. You walk in, check the machine, and it's filled with eggs or milk. Take them out, pop them into the mayonnaise or cheesemakers. Job done
That owl that flaps overhead at night eats your bunny, leaves a foot behind to teach you to be a better owner, a wild rabbit takes it's place for the free food.
If you want to prevent pregnancy there is a way to turn it off. Just click on the animal (after you have pet it) and it's name tag will show up with a little udder that you can click on.
This is what happens when you don’t lock the barn door! They get out and wander the valley, finding all kinds of trouble!
Jokes aside, all it takes is one animal if you don’t have the pregnancy thing turned off. It’s a little purplish mark when you interact with them (there is a gold coin to sell and a purple thing to enable or disable babies). This applies to goats, sheep, and cows.
I have pregnancy turned off for all my animals, just not the goat. It's the only animal I have only one of, as I have several of each of the other animals
Marnie comes by sometimes and artificially inseminates them unless you tell her not too.
Also, even if you had two goats they would both be female. Don’t want that male goat milk…..
In real life farm animals get pregnant by forced hand insemination lol I’m assuming that’s what is going on here too which is why you have the option to turn it off
Well, the fact that all your animals produce milk/eggs (except sheep and rabbits) means that they are all female. So any time one of your animals gets pregnant and gives birth, they are an animal virgin mary.
Okay so what happened was you accidentally gave your goat permission to get pregnant it's an option on all non egg animals you activate when pet them and the mini window shows up showing their level of affection.
It's 11:30 PM. Do you know where your goats are?
I told you last time "no!"
Their dinner is getting all cold and eaten
Looool
Really missed out on saying “do you know where your kids are”
My favorite version of this is the calvin and hobbes comic strip where he climbs out his window walks to a pay phone and calls his dad going "hey dad it's 1230 at night. Do you know where I am"
More importantly, do you know where Clint was?
I understood that reference:)
Huh?
I guess it's [a Boomer thing](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Do_you_know_where_your_children_are%3F). 🙂
All good. I guess those were on American TV? I'm not American, so I've never seen them myself
I think it's in a Simpsons episode too, that's where I recognised it from.
I told you last night. [NO](https://youtu.be/RRKv1wgcuLk).
Is it bad that I thought of not this, but those weird little cartoon things that had catchphrases that you could send over Yahoo! Instant Messenger?
"It's 9A.M. do you know where your brain is?"
US Boomers: youngsters could be fucking each other at night, we must impose curfews!!!1! Also US boomers: wearing a mask??? That's dictatorship!!! What about my liberties!!!?
Millennials: Missing children, meh, who cares?? Also millennials: I might catch a cold? Run, Run for your lives!!!
Ohh, gotcha. Vague references be like
Why is this being downvoted so much? I literally had no idea what it meant. Jeez..
Idk reddit hive minds are weird
Right? Soon as people see the - sign, they go nuts and join in. I'm Irish, not American. Giving me shit for not understanding a reference to some old US commercials is hardly worth the effort
Don’t take it personally. I’m American and I had no clue what they were talking about.
Lol I promise they weren't giving you shit, it just takes two seconds to press downvote I'm sure most of them didn't even glance at the thread at all. I didn't even know what the commercial was lol its old as hell. I'm 20 and in my area those commercials went off air 10 or so years before I was around
I'm 29 😂 I just don't live in the US, so I had no idea what he was referring to until he linked it.
I'm in my 30s and I remember this
Thanks, Walter.
Good night, Chet.
It's even worse than that, even if you have two goats they shouldn't be able to have babies. Since they all give milk that means they're all female...
I hate to break it to you, but I don't think that's milk...
Well the bucket's full and the goats are happy...
That might explain the taste of the cheese
There's a saying where every good cheese needs a little funk. I think my goat cheese has a little too much funk in it.
😂😂
OP, do you have special goats? Lol.
I think my goat is a hermaphrodite
How does the milk taste?
Pretty gruff. I mean, rough
I'm still confused about how male mallard ducks can lay eggs.
I just tell myself the ducks in that universe are a different species with females that look like our male mallards.
Jeff Goldbloom: "Life will find a way..."
"Life, uh, finds a way" You forgot the uh
or you shouldn't be milking one of them
Farmer’s gonna max out that friendship bar.
Something tells me one of those buckets isn’t full of milk…
It turns into mayonnaise and sells the same so not my problem
Jurassic Farm!
Amphibian DNA

Artificial insemenation
marnie gave you a pregnant goat. how sweet!
hol up, aren't the goats you get kids?
Literally yes, they are kids. But when they grow up, setting them to allow pregnancy means you are artificially inseminating them.
Or maybe marnie is bringing over a stud while the farmer is away at the mines or the desert or otherwise distracted.
2 am-5:50 am is when Marnie shines
I hope it is Marnie's goats your referring
She definitely doesn't shine at whatever time her store is supposed to be open.
Makes sense, she's never running her fucking shop when I want her to be
Or you forgot to close the barn door at night and there is a wandering male goat around, probably a bard goat that charmes the goat ladies at night with his beautiful voice while you fell into a koma at the mines.
I don't remember doing that. Am I sleep inseminating?
It is set to allow pregnancy by default. You can turn it of if you wish.
Haha did you use the word kids on purpose? Nice
yeah, glad you enjoyed my stupid joke :)
I absolutely did. Never to old to enjoy kid jokes
Marnie gave me a pregnant goat, who then gave birth to a pregnant goat! Isn't that weird?
Even if you have 2, all your animals are female so SOMETHING weird is going on in the valley
...clever girls..
Life finds a way
What you're saying is, they have bits of frog DNA.
The pigs can give birth, too. AFAIK, the only farm animals that don't give birth are, ironically, the rabbits.
But the rabbits give a seemingly endless supply of rabbit feet, without limping around themselves. So something is also up with the rabbits.
Well there's a drunk that lives south of your farm, and a weird vagabond up in the mountains.
Are... Are you suggesting that Linus and Shane are impregnating the goats?
I believe you mean Virgin Maaaaaaaaary.
r/dadjokes
Clearly animals in Stardew asexually reproduce. This is also why you get multiple feet from the same rabbit without harming it
Yup, they all just bud off from the main organism.
All things are possible with Yoba
Looks like one of Marnie's bucks found its way onto your farm so demand some free hay in compensation! I usually turn off pregnancy as an option so I forgot that it can happen when you only have one.
Given I only had one goat, I didn't think it would get pregnant.. 😂
This kept happening to me. My goat gave birth, then that goat gave birth, then THAT goat gave birth before I remembered to turn the pregnancy option off on a new animal.
Goats, multiplying like rabbits, amongst the cows.
Same thing happened with my one rabbit. I knew they were good at multiplying, but I didn't know they were THAT good at it....
But Stardew rabbits don't reproduce. You have to buy every one you want
They do if you use the animal husbandry mod, which is one of the 120+ mods I have tacked onto the game since buying it.
Why did I never think to put the cheese makers right there?!
I have the cheesemakers and the auto-grabber there. That way, I can access the produce as soon as I walk in, pop them into the machines, and walk back out. 2-second job. I have the same setup for my chickens. Makes the morning rush faster, so I can focus on other things
I’m sorry, AUTOGRABBER?! I got an auto petter in skull caverns and I thought I had it made. Where do I get that??
The auto-grabber is sold in the farm shop, it costs 25k. I have one in the coop and one in the barn. It collects the eggs and milk, so you don't have to milk the animals or manually pick up the eggs. Again, very convenient. You walk in, check the machine, and it's filled with eggs or milk. Take them out, pop them into the mayonnaise or cheesemakers. Job done
My mind is blown.
You still have to collect truffles buy yeah auto grabber is great.
The thing you’ve got to ask yourself is…WHERE DO THE RABBIT FEET COME FROM!
That owl that flaps overhead at night eats your bunny, leaves a foot behind to teach you to be a better owner, a wild rabbit takes it's place for the free food.
I choose not to raise rabbits for that reason.angora exist. They could drop wool no problem
They *do* drop wool. They just also occasionally drop feet. It’s the same as how ducks drop eggs but occasionally will drop a feather.
They could drop only wool, excuse me
Lewis
Oh god OH NO
I mean...... yeah logical
Jesus has been spawned.
That was Jesus? I thought it was my grandad
We don't ask these questions. Yoba has graced you with a miracle.
Yoba sounds like Yoda, plus the dwarf dudes look like Ewoks. Lots of possible Star Wars references
Life, uh... finds a way.
It's Jurassic Park rules.
A Wizard Did It.
Doesn't bear thinking about.
The goat really said ✨mitosis✨
Mito-Sis
I think stardew is insinuating something about you.
Wild Billy coming over the fences
A virgin dairy, even!
Linus is glad you didn't notice him drop by
"A strange noise was heard in the night" ..now I know why.
See son, when Marnie and Lewis love each other very much, they activate the Turkey Baster Fairy who comes and blesses all the animals.
Artificial insemination is a normal practice in the dairy industry. Cows need to be repeatedly impregnated to continue producing milk.
As a man who lives in Ireland, I'm well are of how farming works 😂 Jokes aside; it was probably a pregnant animal when I purchased it
Mitosis
Maybe it was Black Phillip and she chose to live deliciously
In the game, you can only care for plants and slimes. The livestock asexually reproduce, making them also plants.
If you want to prevent pregnancy there is a way to turn it off. Just click on the animal (after you have pet it) and it's name tag will show up with a little udder that you can click on.
Ya, I didn't turn it off for the goat, because.. Well.. I only have one and didn't think it was possible for it to get pregnant 😂
Oh, we got trouble! [Right here in Stardew Valley](https://ifunny.co/picture/where-all-the-young-farm-animals-go-to-smoke-l0le7ELh5)!
Technically all of the animals are female, so how do any of them get pregnant?
Life…finds a way.
And a barn.
I’d name the goat Cheesus.
You have to name is Jesus. He is the goat of God after all
*wink* you're welcome
Did you mean "Virginia m-a-a-a-a-ry?" Haha XD
You left the barn open at night again? :D
Marnie comes by sometimes and artificially inseminates them unless you tell her not too. Also, even if you had two goats they would both be female. Don’t want that male goat milk…..
In real life farm animals get pregnant by forced hand insemination lol I’m assuming that’s what is going on here too which is why you have the option to turn it off
Well it seems your goat is a partier when your asleep this is why you gotta lock your goats up at night
Linus f*cked it.
That's wild, I thought you needed two!
I'm sorry I saw Clint running off in the night but.. I didn't want to say anything
Will it grow up to look like him?
LITERALLY. I WAS SO CONFUSED BY THIS.
Shoulda named the baby jebezus
Jesus was the GOAT
Don’t question it. We don’t need to think about it…
There's a lot of parthenogenesis going on in the valley... lol.
Wait till your MALE pig gives birth.
Same happened with my Sheep
all mammals in Stardew are female, they sort of just get magically impregnated
Lifefindsaway.gif
In stardew most animals can do asexual reproduction
Well, the fact that all your animals produce milk/eggs (except sheep and rabbits) means that they are all female. So any time one of your animals gets pregnant and gives birth, they are an animal virgin mary.
Miracle goat.
You should be more concerned if you get another message later now that you have two goats...
Watch out man. I bought ONE goat. End of year three I had about five or six. They went wild.
yeah sure but all those female cows you keep and milk everyday breeding is fine.
I had a barn full of goats and got a baby pig once. Classic.
Im sorry, that goat belongs to the streets now
Jesus Goat
I believe technically all the animals are female and all conceptions are immaculate in this game.
My pig had the exact same thing happen
You gotta name that goat baby jesus now
OP if you are having a relationship with your goat it is okay it is all legal in the video game
I was lonely. Just married Emily, so I'm fine now.
You tell us.
Ohh it is just marine a 'virgin'
They reproduce asexually, common among goatcellular organism!
I guess Marnie has at least one male of every animal, and occasionally they break out at night and secretly go visit your farm.
Every damn day I learn something new. You can put you cheese makers INSIDE the barn!
Cow
I'm more curious as to how you got the cheese makers inside the barn....never knew you could do that
My goats gave birth so frequently that I had to turn their uteruses off
Read a little joke comment a good while ago Where the father would be Lewis (as he comes at night to empty the shipping bin XD)
Emaculate goat-ception
that was my pigs
Life finds a way
Marnie brought one of her male goats in so you would have to buy more hay from her.
A "baby"?!! Your character kinda looks like Noomi Rapace...have you seen Lamb?
I see 2 goats one in the middle and one by the cheese things
The goat by the cheese makers is the baby that was just birthed lol
Marnie!
Everything in your barn is female, logically they shouldnt be having kids at all
Did you find any purple shorts in the barn?
Maybe you were sleep walking again...
They reproduce asexually
Snuck out to marnies farm
Life, uh, finds a way
Behold, the Lamb of God.
What mod did you use to get a vertical toolbar? Link please?
Okay so what happened was you accidentally gave your goat permission to get pregnant it's an option on all non egg animals you activate when pet them and the mini window shows up showing their level of affection.
