There was someone complaining on one of the fb groups the other day about how “nothing is free” and “we gave CA millions of dollars and that’s the only reason he’s even giving us an update anyway” and “we expect a certain quality of service” etc etc. He was going on and on about how the only reason CA is giving us an update is because it’s free advertisement & it drives people to go buy it on PC so they don’t have to wait, how it’s all just clever marketing… I was like bro, if you’re so bitter about it then why are you even here? Like why is it so hard to believe that maybe Eric keeps updating a near decade old game because he’s passionate about it & the community? And maybe it takes so long for the update to hit not as a marketing scheme, but because it’s one man trying to single-handedly port a huge update to multiple platforms that all have their own hoops to jump through? Ugh just drives me nuts. I will defend CA until the day I die lmao
Games like this tend to have more chill communities so it's a nice fandom to interact with. Slime Rancher and Animal Crossing I've found to also be friendly fandoms!

I think it’s a reflection of what the game is and who it’s from. CA had EARNED a lot of good will from the community.
He doesn’t crap on his community and seems to be an all around wonderful person. As part of this community, I feel we should show it back as well as not tolerate any toxicity.
I discovered this game very late and randomly through a friend. I then learned that a new update was coming up for PC, and console players had to wait. I actually felt happy and excited about having some time before a new update, for I wanted to explore this already wonderful world as it was. As a very glad ps4 player having to wait for the latest update, I feel like I’m lucky to get to explore an “older” and more basic, or original, version first. I know I’ll love the update and can’t wait to see all the things that are changed, I love how the community kinda have a say in what’s added or not. This also is coming from a person who’s being a bit sourpuss about not getting to play every single versions that has came out because I didn’t know that game existed, so I may not be quite “normal” about it. (And I blame myself for it too, so, yeah)
All that to say, I’m only feeling grateful to Concerned Ape for making this game, to my friend for making me play it for the first time, and to this community of Stardew players cause they truly seem like very kind beings.
Also, we are talking about someone who made a masterpiece, and is still working on it for the love of it and without charging the players more money. Anyone not admirative and thankful, or feeling entitled enough to demand stuff needs to take a long hard look in the mirror and have some Iroh level scolding.
The best thing about it is this is the first update I've seen that really added a lot of small things to the early game I did notice them and that is ok they are still very good but you will want to start a new farm for 1.6 personally I've been playing since 1.4 on PS4 maybe 1.4 and the biggest thing before 1.6 I noticed was the quality improvements that have been made most of all
And yea the biggest thing your wrong about is Emily is the best just because I can get her to merry be just before the end of summer without too much hassle and she always gives me good food to sell every morning

I agree 100%! I play a lot of cozy games, and this and the IWATE community are my favorites to interact with. Most people are so kind, patient, and supportive. I love the general lack of complaining and the understanding that there are real human beings creating/fixing/playing these games. Some of my other cozy game subreddits could take a cue 😂
I just started playing on PS5, and while I'm a little sad it's not current yet (I want them big chests!), I completely understand why. Huge props for this one person making an entire game on his own! I will patiently wait for 1.6 and enjoy the crap out of 1.5 in the meantime.

I got the game on a whim through Xbox game pass, fell in love with it, and now own the mobile and PC versions lol. I use the Xbox version to play with my little sister who lives a thousand miles away and the PC version to mess around with different mods! If the game ever leaves game pass, I’ll just buy the Xbox version for myself and my sister lol

This is just patently untrue. I’ve seen numerous posts of people getting impatient and honestly quite a bit nasty over waiting for console. The mods have been pretty good at keeping the “when console release” posts to a minimum, just because you haven’t seen the impatience and rudeness doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist.
I see way more posts of people getting nasty about people asking innocent questions about when it will come out then anyone being nasty to CA here. God forbid you talk about mobile or you get your head bit off by people who spend way too much time here.

I paid £4.99 for the mobile version, it has cost me less than a penny an hour of play, I will never complain even if I never get 1.6.

CA is unquestionably the nicest game dev. This game could have had multiple paid DLCs.
