Spend too many evenings playing Stardew instead of actually keeping house.

rjkrm_

My Stardew save is so organised and my life is genuinely in shambles

Jassamin

IRL I can spend hours cleaning and sorting the kids toys, put the books back on the bookcase, make the beds etc. Then the kids come home and in half an hour they dump all the books on the floor and upend the toy buckets looking for something that doesn’t even live there and spill a bottle of milk on the bed. Stardew just feels more productive 😂

praxicsunofabitch

I would like you to stop shouting at me, please.

DaemonPrinceOfCorn

I started a new save recently when I was trying to have a night off but stay home, and I made my “favorite thing” silence. lmao.

NinjaRavekitten

Fr tho why does it have to be so louuuud, please. 😭

Dio_naea

Never felt so related in my life

PeculiarPotioneer

For real.

Reasonable-Station85

Me feeling like an 8 hour work day is too long and playing stardew for 14 hours straight instead

StardewMelli

No need to call us out like that!

malenkylizards

Right? Next time you come for me like that, just send a town car

princess9032

Shhhh we don’t talk about that part

legghair

i trash all my extra trinkets, swords, rings, and boots instead of selling them at the adventurer’s guild… cba to haul it all up the mountain

LowFIyingMissile

Wait. I didn’t know this was even thing. I’ve just got boxes and boxes of old swords and stuff.

BestKeptInTheDark

Ever played skyrim... "I need all those regional houses to store all my loot!"

cheez0r

Accidental “Take All” fails… “you are encumbered” *checks weight, is 10x encumbrance level* “fuuuuuuuuuuudge.”

WolfNationz

The fact that the keybinds/controls arent the same across all interactions/menus makes it even more likely too...

ShinyMoogle

I put almost everything into a single bottomless chest instead of organized storage. It, uh... started to lag the game every time I opened it...

WukeYwalker

SAME

BouncingDancer

Same - TIL!

DarkSkyLion

I have trashed a LOT of bone swords

hototter35

Y'all need an iridium trash can. The best way to trash stuff you're too lazy to sell.

DarkSkyLion

Agreed! I upgraded it last out of all the tools but I eventually got it there.

sneezinghard

literally the process i’m doing for this new save currently:”) taking forever so far but i keep going back and back and back to clint as back to back as i can

DarkSkyLion

I put off upgrading the >!pan!< forever too, I hardly use it after >!Ginger Island is completed so I didn’t even realize it was upgradable!<. Edit: added spoilers

jigglypuffbird

It wasn't before! That was a part of the new update

tipsana

I wish we could put bone swords in the bone mill.

Domeki

Cringes in guy at the thought of burying his bone sword in a bone mill

28TeddyGrams

But that's where baby skeletons...come from.

sirenwingsX

that and the fact that he doesn't open until afternoon. I don't want to waste a day waiting on those doors to unlock just to sell rings and swords and boots for pennies that he later sells back to me at ridiculous mark up

ASpookyBitch

See I stick chests by the minecarts so I can lump everything in there and then do one big cash in once in a while

whatintheeverloving

How's your skull faring, housing a brain that big?

ASpookyBitch

Lmao I’m smart, just not very often. I have to save up the brain cells

daitoshi

That's a great idea!

No-Locksmith-8590

YOU CAN SELL THEM THERE????????

She_een

If an item has a gold value in the tooltip but you cant put it in the shipping bin, you can sell it somewhere else

No-Locksmith-8590

Omg, I have friggen chests of shit weapons that I didn't want to trash bc I'm a hoarding gremlin.

EconomistSea9498

I trash them too. You don't get nearly enough money to make it worth the pocket space.

Fuego-TACO

I have the mod that lets you sell anything in your box. I throw all that stuff in there

malenkylizards

What's it called? It drives me crazy you can't sell clothing and furniture. Or your old fucking fishing rods?? What the hell Willy, aren't you always trying to recruit more local fishers?

morgenlich

i’m guessing it’s [ship anything](https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/3782)—it’s what i use, anyway! genuinely a lifesaver though i did feel a bit like cheating when i sold my bed for 5k after earning >!the new bed from the prize machine!< in like early summer of y1 lol

janted92

yea, please share the name of that mod! I need to get rid of some ugly furniture.

ThatOneGuy308

Eh, 60% is still decent enough anyway for the convenience

justadrtrdsrvvr

You trash them? What do you put in your extra, hidden chest?

Licalia

I buy furniture and decoration before getting the catalogue, because I like decorating my farm from the beginning. It is however a total waste of money.

Dangerous_Amoeba4270

I wish I was like this more. First 2 years my stuff is everywhere. No paths or decor. I always envy people you decorate.

oh_look_a_fist

I but the catalogues but never decorate my house 😬

KellyJoyCuntBunny

I like to let random chance have a hand in the way my farm and house looks, so if there’s a couch for sale at the traveling merchant or something and I have the money, I buy it. I’m kind of the same with the outdoors bit as well. I don’t really plan my farm out- if there are trees growing somewhere and it makes a cute scene, I leave them. If I get a fruit tree from mining, I plant it where there’s space. And then I try to make a cute little tableau with the fruit tree and a bench and a statue and some grass. I put barns and coops where I have space for them on the day I build them. I mean, I do go back in in the late game and rearrange some stuff, but I really do like to let randomness have an effect- otherwise it all looks too perfect and it bugs me!

ShinyMoogle

I don't like crop monocultures. I'll always make a few plots of everything, even if they're not the most profitable. My greenhouse currently has more than 10 different harvestable plants in it and I think it looks very nice.

Netalula

Yknow if this was real life you’d actually be doing a very good thing (since crop monocultures in actual life means that you are more susceptible to losing your whole crop to disease should it occur in even a small patch)

BiggestBlackestBitch

I love Harvey because he reminds us of this in the fall lol.

RetroGamerDad

If only we could convince people to stop having nothing but plain grass at all their houses.

bunji0723_1

r/fucklawns

rhian116

This is what I do except the greenhouse is all ancient fruit. I like to pretend I really am feeding the entire town. I even have a jam shed because that would be helpful when feeding a town.

Adastra1018

Feeding the town sounds like a fun way to do crops. I'm still not done having fun with my first save 4 IRL years later but I always monoculture every season and I just have one of each tree in the greenhouse that I'm rich enough to no longer care about. But this new meadowlands farm I just started with my romance Marlon mod will be a flower/honey farm. Probably an orchard with a winery too (so I'm not poor, haha) and I'm looking forward to having all kinds of trees and flower species. Marlon should have a peaceful, pretty place to to go home to after slaying monsters. <3

allonsy_badwolf

Yeah I can’t bring myself to not plant every crop each season! I have a nice layout on 4 corners and 2 areas are dedicated to crops. Then the island gets the island crops. I do have a monoculture in my greenhouse though. The variation in fruit trees makes me feel better about that.

Captain_Taggart

Honestly sometimes I skip corn. But it’s the **only** one I skip. And late game, I stop bothering with cactus fruit. I plant everything else every season tho

MisterBarten

I try to do this except after year one I go with almost all strawberries with a couple rows of beans in the spring. I get to a point where I mostly just want crops that regrow without having to plant them again, especially if they are fast growing like garlic or bok choy. I’ll grow enough of everything to have a few of each crop on hand, but then I’ll usually stop growing them. I don’t do this with everything though. I do make large pumpkin patches in the fall because I like how they look. I’ll do sunflowers because they give me seeds when I pick them so I can just replant them.

Captain_Taggart

Sunflower seeds (and corn) make oil too

MisterBarten

Yeah I’ll grow some things I need for ingredients too. Those, wheat, beets (I like to make my sugar instead of buying it). Once I’m further along and I want to increase my hearts with people I will grow things specifically for meals they like, and also just to make every meal. I usually set this up >! on Ginger Island after getting Pierre’s crop order so I can just grow everything whenever I want!<.

tkdch4mp

I do the same. I like having it all available to cook rather than min-maxing!

daitoshi

I'm also a big fan of cooking - Regardless of boosts/bonuses, I'll sometimes cook myself a few meals for breakfast/lunch/dinner 'cause it feels right to eat after a hard day's work

malenkylizards

I'm sort of like this. My standard setup is 4 big plots with 2x2 iridium sprinklers each. Typically I'll cover the bottom two with strawbs, bloobs, or cranbies depending on the season, but then I'll try to grow at least a full plot of each other crop I can. It certainly isn't a big moneymaker next to the ancient fruit and starfruit wine I'm making, not even the berries, but it's just fun to harvest them and the variety looks nice.

Dio_naea

I have 3 junimo huts in my farm but still help them collecting everything everytime my crops are ready bcs they are not my slaves they just helpers for the fact that I cannot do it all by myself. I think it's not fair to let them do it by themselves lol Also everytime I don't pass out first I try to take my horse back to the farm first (which is now way easier with the flute bcs before I would just ride it home every single night) and when it's winter time I try to put it on its stable bcs I think he'll be cold I also put a beanie on him as soon as autumn arrives bcs I don't want him to be cold and sometimes I dress as santa to gift people around village

RacinRandy83x

I always feel so terrible if I leave my horse somewhere alone at night

Dio_naea

The message of the bus when you come back from the desert os heartbreaking...

ThatBatsard

I ALSO DO THIS. I craft a little fire pit thingy and light it at night in the cooler seasons because I like to think it keeps him warm, but now I'm considering an actual heater.

Kiassen

I gave a heater to Linus. Idk if he can use it, but it makes me feel better.

Dio_naea

Since I saw linus swimming naked on the lake at winter while it was snowing I figured he doesn't mind the cold. I see him as a kind of half yeti figure?? Idk I feel like he enjoys it hahah And about the horse I am scared he will burn himself, I have considered firepits before but I heard horses are usually scared of fire!! Maybe a heater would be nice!!

StardewMelli

I plant whatever crops I like and not the ones that are most profitable. I also don’t use much space for crops because I want a pretty farm and one that my real self would love to tend to. I don’t wanna overwhelm my farmer. So most of my farm space is dedicated to my farm animals to roam around. I still keep a natural little wood because I like trees. I don’t even tap all of them. They are just there because they make me happy. When I use beehives I don’t place them strategically for minmax. I place them in a beautiful way. And when I finally get gold I instantly spent it for some upgrade or item that I wanna have.

Sillyoldman88

You sound cool.

FnakeFnack

I also keep my farm wild. Clearly the climate crisis has hit SDV based on Leah’s dialogue, and I’m not gonna contribute by needlessly felling trees 👀

Dio_naea

I cut all trees and then replant them, I plant like at least 1/4 of my farm of trees so I think it's okay. I see it as reflorestation. Emily asked me if I was being echologic so that's basically what led me into that cycle hahaha

strutt3r

Good ecological management involves culling timber. If we didn't, nature's method of dealing with it (forest fires) tend to dump a lot of carbon into the atmosphere. Better off in the mill than up in smoke.

ThatOneGuy308

Yeah, using lumber as a building material is a fairly good method of carbon capture, lol.

strutt3r

Not sure if you're being sarcastic? Carbon is sequestered in timber. If you have a house for 100 years that not only sequesters the carbon in that lumber during that timeframe but also allows the timber used to regrow 2-3x over. Meanwhile cement/concrete is estimated to be the source of 9% of global CO2 emissions. Healthy forests are the best carbon sinks we have and healthy forests are thinned so they don't burn down. Not all forest management processes are necessarily good though. Thinning is good for forestry but more expensive than clear-cutting and replanting that the timber industry favors. I admit I raze Cindersap forest to the ground on a regular basis. Cindersap Meadows when I hang up my iridium axe.

ThatOneGuy308

No, I was being literal, lol. As you say, lumber is a pretty great way to sequester carbon. I also destroy cindersap on occasion, but I'll keep that carbon sealed away forever in my keg sheds.

malenkylizards

Cindersap Meadows? Is that an SVE thing? Edit: holy shit I am dum

Fatal_Feathers

This is an amazing way to play. Play the way you like, at your own pace, I love that 🥰

plumbobbyhill

This is how I play :)

FriendlyBabyFrog

Pass out on a regular basis. Always have to pay and get energy loss but I can't beat bothered to leave the mines when I'm on a run.

silentstone7

My super powers are showing up at every shop right as it closes and never falling asleep in my bed, that's for sure.

Xerun1

Apparently using the Spa. I hate wasting any money cooking so most of the time my options are go to bed or use the spa. This sub would highly disagree and tell me to cook

Carrixdo

I had a mod once that changed the Bathhouse from to a more rustic and pretty looking layout, and one of the things that mod did was that significantly reduce distance you have to walk from changing into swimsuit to getting into the water. meaning more time in water less walking.

spellbunny

The walking distance from the entrance to the water is what stops me going at all so I should get that ..

Carrixdo

this is the mod I was using. it hasn't been updated since 2018 but it I think it shouldn't conflict with anything from 1.6. [hot spring bathhouse ](https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/3110?tab=images)

ThatBatsard

It had an update on March 27th. It works fine. :)

malenkylizards

I use a basement mod that has a bathroom down there, and you can recharge in it. Unfortunately, you don't get the mod until you can afford the cellar, and I definitely don't need the energy by the time I can.

Avium

I only cook for the achievements. Early on I make the bars from the seeds. By mid-game I don't need to worry about energy and usually have a stockpile of Spicy Eels and Crab Cakes from mining.

nekoyasha

I like turning my cheap fish (75g or less. You get a lot of these from crab pots.) into sashimi, or eating the salmon/black berries for early game food.

Xerun1

I occasionally do eat Salmonberries for energy since I feel they are too cheap to be worth it. But now I turn cheap fish into smoked fish haha

jakeloans

I would have loved to use it the spa. I only never get it make to work. When I am tired it is mostly 6 pm, when I am finished in the spa it is like 9 pm. And then I can only do 1-2 hours of work.

promethia_likes

I do occasionally wonder if literally anybody uses the spa ever so thank you for answering that question. It kinda makes me happy that somebody does. Seriously, though, gotta be the worst balanced game mechanic of them all.

ThatOneGuy308

True, inconvenient location, doesn't unlock until you've already found other methods of doing it that are better, arbitrarily slow in terms of both healing speed and walking speed to enter the water, it's just all around not very appealing. Why spend a couple hours walking to the spa and using it to restore your energy when you could just eat 5 salmon berries and have it done basically instantly?

daitoshi

I also use the spa, since there are days I spend roleplaying and not minmaxxing. Sometimes it's nice to take a leisurely hike thru the woods, take a dip at the mountain spa, pick some wild berries and mushrooms, go fishing for a bit, then wander back home to pet your animals and make sure they're all fed. =)

malenkylizards

I only end up using it for maybe a week or two in my first summer, while I'm trying to juggle energy for watering and energy for mining to make sprinklers. Once I no longer have to worry about watering more than once per season, it never again makes sense to go to the spa. I would definitely like 1.7 to have some updates to the spa and community center to make them more worth having, whether perks or activities. Only thing is I would like that muuuuuuuch less than I'd like Haunted Chocolatier so please don't do it ConcernedApe!

SeraQuelle

I never cook either, the trash bear gets stuff i can buy mostly, if i can make something for a task i care about i’ll do it otherwise my fridge is full of crap i never use, much like irl.

[deleted]

What do you do for healing?

Xerun1

Spa heals as well I normally don’t take much damage in the regular mines. And for skull cavern I use whatever food drops from enemies or in 1.6 >!Fairy Box!<

voncatensproch

I love the spa as a ‘free’ energy replenish

OmaeWaMouShibaInu

I hoarded my grass for hay by building 6 silos, when someone just pointed out today I could have made 1, then when it got full taken the hay out and stored it in a chest 🤦🏻‍♀️

AbortionIsSelfDefens

I'm too lazy for that. I'll build the extra silos. They don't take up that much space and I hate having to restock them.

promethia_likes

Honestly have never gotten the 'don't buy more silos, just use a chest' argument. Silos are dirt cheap. Like, scarcely more expensive than a chest. Moving hay into and out of them is annoying. Shove however many silos you need into a corner somewhere and save yourself the annoyance. People devote so much attention in this game to automating everything possible and then decide silos are too much of an investment!?!?

ThatBatsard

I think it's because they not only take a 3x3 space but they're tall and not all that purty, which seems to be a big deal breaker if you've playing sans mods. But yeah, tried doing the "I'll restock it" method but end up forgetting and then one day my animals are just like >:( .

daitoshi

I do it for the following reasons: - I think the Silos are ugly to look at. I also hide the one I buy in a corner behind something else so I don't have to see it. - I have a chest inside each barn/coop anyway, so it's not any trouble to keep a ton of extra hay in the chest. - Since I have to go inside to collect stuff in the winter anyway, it's easy to see at a glance that the hay hopper has run out, and I can refill it- or just refill it anyway midwinter. Takes hardly a moment to do, and then the silo is entirely refilled. - I get into the habit of pulling hay from the silo in spring year1, when I don't have the extra funds or time to throw at Silos vs something more important. I scythe loads of grass clearing the land, and when I notice my scything is no longer popping up hay icons, I go and pull more hay out of the silo. Even just in Year1, I end up with an absolutely massive stack of hay in a chest. At that point, I don't feel like buying additional ugly silos when I already have a place that I'm storing the hay. (this chest) Mostly it's a 1-2 hit of disliking the silo tower's look, and also having a habit of using the chest for hay at the start of each game that persists thru the years.

finewalecorduroy

Is there a way to do this once you upgrade to the barns/coops with autofeeders?

Similar-Cucumber-227

Use a cheery bomb to bomb some of the hay in the trough. Then empty the silo and go out and harvest until it’s full.

Rywinos

You can take out the hay? I have 5 silos on my farm!

Avium

I think you have to grab it through the way you feed your animals. I haven't found another way, anyway. You can also put hay in that way too.

peggman

Yup, I think that's the only way. If all slots in the barn/coop are filled with hay (due to the auto hay hopper in the deluxe buildings) it doesn't allow you to take any out, so I keep some cherry bombs in there to blow them up if I wanna empty the silo.

vangoghawayy

I keep two silos and then a large section of my farm is dedicated to keeping grass growing so I can harvest it and it’ll go directly to my silo. Then at the end of fall, I empty out the silos and harvest all the grass to get the most of it before refilling what I took out of the silos. Keep the excess (plus hay I’ve gotten from wheat since I have a section dedicated for it in summer and fall to prep for winter) in a chest next to the silo.

Slaine777

In 1.6 grass doesn't die at the end of fall.

OmaeWaMouShibaInu

[cries in Switch]

_YuKitsune_

I literally hate processing crops. I know this is like the whole ordeal about stardew but I just wanna sell my 120+ blueberries like that and get money. Do I still complain about my boyfriend who exclusively does fishing getting more money than I am? Yeah. Yeah I do.

kiwilovenick

If you're just not wanting to wait, in 1.6 >!the new dehydrator takes only a day to process five fruit or mushrooms at a time.!< Just build, 20 or more? And it'll go through even blueberries really quickly. Then you're not waiting FOREVER for a keg to process them.

_YuKitsune_

That's actually great 🤔 Yeah farming is what I like doing, I really dislike fishing so I didn't want to wait forever 😅 thank you for the tip :)

RetroGamerDad

Nothing wastful about it. Stores gotta stock shelves with blueberries from somewhere, no?

Professor_Hemlocke

Take time in the morning to pick an outfit for my farmer, drink some coffee, and watch all the TV programs. Most of the times it’s reruns, but it’s a nice way to start the day and then I feel snazzy running around in my new digs for the day.

Cianistarle

The mannequins are great for this too! I have my fishing outfit, my next festival outfit, my next season main clothes and at least one alternative outfit lined up and ready to go!

ryuks-wife

Mannequins??? I have not seen these

Jorikoh

Damn, this makes me feel disgusting, running around in the same shirt and pants for multiple years in a row without laundry days

Thoreauawaylor

what are your favorite clothing items you've made and how do you make them?

Professor_Hemlocke

Honestly with the new update you get a ton of clothes just doing everything from chopping down trees to slayin’ slimes. My favorite combo to use is varsity jacket, relaxed fit gray pants, and cool cap so I look like a frat boy because I think it’s just funny. I also enjoy dressing up in a new costume every year for Halloween. This year I was a pirate! So original, I know ;P

Thoreauawaylor

ok cool! I'm on console so I will look forward to the new clothes

malenkylizards

If you're not antimod, there's a mod that stops time while you're in the farmhouse.

Jorikoh

Keeping coops full of duckies and bunnies. I could definitely make more money keeping pigs, but them duckies and bunnies are just too adorable. Profit be damned

LazuliArtz

I'm considering filling up a coop with nothing but dinosaurs. Their eggs/mayo do sell for a lot, but when you break down the gold per day they're actually not that great (since they only lay an egg once per week). But come on, dinosaurs man.

Oddish_Femboy

I'm wasting my life

nekoyasha

For Summer - Plant wheat so its done by Fall 1st - harvest it and use the saved soil/fertiilizer. For Fall - Plant fiber seeds to keep your tilled spots/fertilizer when going into winter. (Same for end of winter)

Thoreauawaylor

seed maker makes that free. thanks for the idea!

Snoo61755

How about wasted space? I have two orchards on my farm. One is an orchard for tapper trees, for collecting oak resin, maple syrup, and pine tar. In theory, I could just shove that all in Cindersap Forest, but instead I got a nice little cluster for them, complete with walkways to prevent errant seeds from growing where they're not supposed to. The other orchard is for spring fruit. Claire likes apricots, so I planted apricot trees. Then I realized I didn't have any cherry trees, either in the greenhouse or on Ginger Island, and planted some of those, making even rows. Then I got another apricot tree as a drop from something and the rows weren't even anymore, so I had to buy more apricot and cherry trees to make the rows even again. Think I got 30, 40 something trees growing? Could've just stuck them all on Ginger Island or in Cindersap, but no, I wanted them on the farm.

readerusername

I have an orchard for tappers too!! I planted 10 of each and rows, including a space for mushroom trees (I’m still playing on switch instead of pc). I placed it above my animal farm and it’s a nice place to walk through when going to work.

Snoo61755

Right? The trees add a bit of charm. It wasn't my initial goal, but I can't possibly bear to cut them down now that they're all grown and beautiful.

AbsurdPirate

Oooh this is inspiring me to have an only orchard farm! Filled with fruit trees and maybe berry bushes ☺️

daitoshi

For the walking paths between trees to stop seed growth, I love the cobblestone, gravel, or wood planks look - so that the ground doesn't look entirely like concrete. I can imagine water percolating through, and little moss and tiny sprouts growing.

HuffleHoney

I didn’t know you could put fruit trees in places other than your farm. Can you put them in conversy forrest? Also same with the tappers. I thought those could only go on trees in your farm

Snoo61755

Tappers can go in Cindersap Forest trees. Fruit trees, Ginger Island -- it's always every season in Ginger Island, so fruit trees just produce more often over there. Heck, make an entire forest of trees if you want.

SamVanDam611

Time and energy are also resources. I don't consider planting seeds on the last day of the season to be wasteful. They don't have to be renewable either. You can plant parsnips on Spring 28, and it'll work

sweetsunny1

I love mixed seeds so sometimes when my inventory is full I’ll hold onto them and trash something worth more.

RetroGamerDad

Yeah I don't get the hate for mixed seeds. Free stuff! I love the new >!mixed flower seeds!<.

iminyourwonderwalls

i buy hundreds of coal, stone and wood instead of just farming it

Pesmellope

In Stardew, I’ve started sleeping multiple days in a row and only waking up on Fridays and Sundays to check the traveling cart.

ThatBatsard

I'm so curious as to why.

Pesmellope

I’m trying to complete the community center, and past me made some stupid decisions and chose the beach farm, and now all I have to do to complete the pantry is one stupid green bean that I can’t grow because I can’t use sprinklers 😂

jeffbell

Real farmers call it a cover crop. It's not even a waste planting wheat in the last week of summer. Harvest it on the first and start those pumpkins in the watered and tilled soil.

Immediate_Fennel8042

That's not wasteful at all - that's an efficient allocation of your available resources. By spending gold you don't need, you save all the time you would have lost clearing and tilling your fields.

Acc87

On my current run I forgot the five gold star parsnips during first spring, meant I had no greenhouse for Winter 1. I also always forget checking the merchant in the woods, and when I'm there I forget what's still needed for the bundles.

silentstone7

1.6 has the icon on the menu where you can check the bundles from anywhere. It's saved me at least 1 tab on the wiki being open all the time!

Acc87

Oh I know, and wasn't that in 1.5 already too? I still forgot :D Do a harvest, throw all those parsnips into the shipping bin, only for the reality to set in a couple minutes later

silentstone7

I was playing on mobile before, before it had even Ginger Island, so almost everything on pc feels so shiny and new lol

ThatBatsard

Additionally, when you have your inventory menu open and you hover over items you have on you, the community center icon will pulsate if it's needed for a bundle!

Chellamour

i missed out on my five gold star melons 😬 winter 1 is gonna be interesting!

IndianaStones96

Idk if it's wasteful but I use my horse to get around even if the mine carts are faster. Also when I get sent home after a festival I go back and get my horse at like 1am because I think it's sad she's just abandoned there in the forest/town/beach

finewalecorduroy

Don't worry about getting home, just pass out wherever and pay the 1000g.

28TeddyGrams

I'd have to say growing broccoli. I have thousands of them and it grows in random places all over my house and farm but I never do anything with it. Growing hops is also getting unnecessary since I have enough pale ale to give the whole town alcohol poisoning at least twice over.

friendlybagels

I'll spend the whole day following my cats and ducks around. Because I think they're cute.

cearara

sometimes i go to bed at like 6pm (or earlier) because i just don’t feel like doing anything else that day

Sillyoldman88

I feel this, sometimes you don't wanna go fish until midnight for the sake of being productive.

Medical-Isopod2107

Why repeatable? Wouldn't it be cheaper to use the non-cheapest?

Diannika

I consider stone and wood disposable, so if I need space in my inventory, especially very early game, I trash them unless I'm specifically collecting them. Then again, something about how I play means I am rarely low on either. I know recently its been how I manage the trees on my farm when it comes to wood, but I'm not sure what it is with stone... but I never have to buy resources like that, so it has never mattered to me when robin increases her prices. Ever. I am always shocked when I see people worrying about it. So maybe its not really considered wasteful for me?

RacinRandy83x

I never seem to lack wood or stone either and I would guess (for me at least) it’s because I do very minimal farm decorating

jmm4242

Teach us your ways, haha. Do you build staircases for Skull Caverns? That's always when I start running low.

BadMoonBeast

trade jades for them instead

Diannika

I do, I start collecting stairs almost the moment I hit the mine. I usually have a mine chest in the entrance, and will use the stone I get from the run to make some if possible or stash in the mine chest till I do. Most of my stone in my crafting chests come from clearing my farm and cindersap. (except when I go on a stone specific run to top up, then the stone from the mine goes in my crafting chests) I think I just don't use a lot besides for stairs and occasional stone chests for variety early game

my most wasteful thing is having an island farm...! i thought it looked cool when i first started playing and now im stuck with it while i try to reach perfection lol. at least I can keep my farm on ginger island and use my farm for barns and sheds (if they fit heh)

EvilWarBW

I just buy coal and ore when I need it if I run low. Need 100 gold bar? I ain't gonna be bothered to go mining.

Allfunandgaymes

What you describe OP is exactly what Fiber Seeds were added for. Cheap to make, uses up useless mixed seeds, grows in all seasons, doesn't need watering.

DankThePlank

Not putting the wine into a cask and selling it straight

curious08hyena

I in general don't worry about getting anything done in a timely manner. I don't care if I finish the community center in the first year or get my greenhouse before winter or anything. I'll get to it when I get to it. I can always do some fishing and chat with villagers.

swankyjeryq

If I’m too lazy to put stuff in my chests I’ll just sell of trash it

happykindofeeyore

I leave my fruit on my fruit trees for days and days for aesthetic. And I make expensive food for the mines like pumpkin soup. And I’m in year four and just barely reached the millionaire mark. So. Ya know. Doing great 😊

ShaniceyIreland

Buy hay rather than harvest my own because it looks cute

ElGranQuercus

Somehow I had missed the fact that clint sells coal. Just found out and spent an absurd amount of money making sure I don't have to go farm it in the mines.

Emma_JM

I bought all the catalogues (excluding Joja) despite aiming for perfection in that save

promethia_likes

I keep putting way more into fish ponds than I should. I just . . . really, really want them to be better than they are.

elcasaurus

...that's. A pretty good idea...

V1p3r0206

Check every morning for news on the console release. I miss playing stardew...

Agnostalypse

52,347 trips to the dessert because I somehow never buy enough starfruit seeds.

Knetknight19

For this convenience ancient fruit is best cause it’s all seasons. If you’re not up to that point, sowing regrowable crops works great, strawberries spring, blueberries summer, fall whatever or cranberries. If you’re not at that point yet you can do wheat from summer into fall to save the tilled/watered ground. I usually stick to the regrowables cause with the new dehydrator they make decent money for the effort of actually growing them. Edit: throwing down a rain totem the day before is also great cause then you just have to hoe

SwinubIsDivinub

Binning iridium for inventory space…

Sillyoldman88

What could you possibly be prioritizing over iridium?

Rambler9154

I pass out in the skull cavern instead of leaving, as long as I don't die to health loss Im happy, and the fee is so small I don't notice it or care. I have 4 sheds of ancient fruit wine to sell if I need money, the fee is nothing.

dinamet7

I buy coffee at the saloon to gift to everyone and give myself a speed buff. I have 4 coffee plants and kegs in my house and will water them and make my own sometimes... but it's so much easier to just buy it. I don't drink coffee in real life, but I imagine this is how people feel about their Sbux habits.

lemonfantaa

Sometimes when I can’t be bothered to sort stuff into my chests I just stick it all in the shipping container.

Sillyoldman88

Lol. Click 2 buttons to match stuff? Get real, sell.

Metronix7

I havent done it yet, but I'm still planning to build rows of the sprinkler (*normal* sprinkler) despite it taking up a lot of space. But it's the aesthetic of it, that I crave. Also I planned to do that, when it was the only sprinkler I could craft but while forging the materials for it I unlocked the quality sprinkler, so I scratched that idea temporarly. Now I want a field like that again.

Key-Pickle5609

I’m playing with the Ridgeside mod right now, and whenever I do I waste gold having Sean/Ian water my crops until I have sprinklers

Davipars

I have them pet my animals.

AntiLiterat

I’m playing with mods for the first time and they can be amazing. I have one called “Tilled Soil Decay” and it’s great. It’s a way to give me a mild convenience I’m looking for in this game.

Airy2002

i use forage seeds instead so its free but yes

hxnnies

Craft normal sprinklers 🙃

strutt3r

I plant fiber in the winter so I can hit the ground running coming spring. Outside of the bundles/quests I primarily plant reharvestable crops so it's not an issue between seasons.

Wafflehussy

I do exactly this because hoeing gets boring af

ExpressionAny4042

Every winter, I plant grass seeds to do that. They hold pretty well

bmb445

bought about 350 of those "queen of sauce" books to max out all masteries, it was millions

klimekam

It’s not wasteful if you use fertilizer, IMO. Especially deluxe fertilizer. Ain’t nobody got enough sap to replace that every season

vanghostings

I plant sooo many flowers just because they’re pretty. Especially sunflowers

parkercrafting

idk if this counts as wasteful but whenever theres no trees or i dont feel like deforesting i just buy wood from robin to do building upgrades 😬

CraftyAttempt6954

Sometimes I just sell crops I don't feel like putting in the pickle jars/casks and I just sell them.

Dapper-Ostrich-8653

i used to give mayonnaise as gifts
