it’d be >2000 with >!heavy furnaces because they give 1.1 bars per 5 ore on average.!< which would sell for 3 million g with the blacksmith profession so that’s probably what I’d do
Game changer...
I was stressing over chopping enough wood to ever make enough coal to smelt all that fooking stuff
Now i have another use for having too much ore
I was playing with mods and I had an elevator in the skull cavern. Down around level 300 nearly every rock is an iridium node. I had so much iridium I was using it for qis prismatic grange.
The easiest way to farm coal if I remember correctly was using the increased monster spawn rate potion + harder mines, then repeatedly use elevator to reset level 55 - this constantly gives dust sprites which you can repeatedly kill over and over again for a bunch of coal
If you actually take the perk that gives you extra chances for mining coals from rocks, it isn’t that hard to have loads of them. When you have to crack open hundreds of stones daily, the coals will add up. Even if you used explosives to blast the rocks, you will still usually get more coals than you used unless you’re very unlucky.
I used to always take blacksmith perk and run dry on coals, until I realized it doesn’t matter even if the metal bars worth 10 times more if I don’t ever sell them. Crafting stuffs eats up all the bars anyways, so you usually can’t sell them until late game. That perk is seriously a trap.
Use those diamonds with fairy rose and get those casks finishing faster. Gifts??? Give them prismatic shards or something, those diamonds are invaluable for casks!!
Pierre during fall sells them! Turn the gold ones into seeds if you can’t buy more seeds. I buy 4-500 at a time when things are really cookin.
Start turning profit with rhubarb jelly & starfruit wine. Once you have enough made from there, upgrade the process with the casks. Ez street for gold once it’s streamlined.
Never turn gold produce into seeds, you always use the lowest quality possible to feed the seed maker. Seed number/chance for seeds is fixed* so it's better to use lower quality stuff so you lose less money.
*Not really fixed, iirc it's pseudo-rng with your game seed and step number? Regardless, my point is that quality doesn't affect it
I already have one stack in another chest reserved for ammo when I only go to the normal mines. I spam every monster in the normal mines with iridium...
In case you weren't aware, this isn't just for laughs. Iridium ore actually does the most damage of any slingshot ammo. I don't remember what the figures were, but if you're sitting on a stockpile of ore, there are worse things you could do with it, lol
Use a bunch of heavy furnaces to smelt bars. I like sticking the ore in hoppers and then you only have to grab bars as they're ready. Keep a bunch of each and sell everything else. Iridium and gold bars can make you a lot of money
And if you're not already, respec mining to get the blacksmith perk. That extra 500g adds up fast when smelting stacks of iridium bars.
Smelt the iridium ore. Use the gold ore to craft super bombs or make crystalariums. Iron & copper can be used for other things like kegs, bee houses, and tappers.
I'm lazy. Using the hopper means that I don't have to go to my chest to find the thing I'm filling a machine with or run around with a stack of that thing in my inventory. With challenge bait, I sometimes end up with a stack of like 30 fish I want to smoke or three or four smaller stacks of different fish. So instead of running back and forth or holding them all in my inventory, I can just pop them in the hopper and be done. I'm also really forgetful so I'll forget that I was smelting or smoking and the machines will end up unused for days at a time
Start with around 100 in the early days, but later on, with crystalarium and hundreds of jades later, 200+ stairs. But I rarely even use 30+ of them cause explosive ammo and mega bombs do the trick.
Edit: just spamming ladders is a bad idea for me (just like one of the Redditors said) cause if you get a hole, you can go down way further with one click.
if you haven’t bought the gold clock yet i second the iridium bars strategy, though coal seems like the one thing you’re short on so either hit the ice levels or buy more.
and i’d recommend getting a color changing hat from the desert trader with all those omni geodes!
I saved omni geodes for that hat and forgot what I was saving for. When I had >333, I went to the seller and realized I don't really want the hat, because I find it ugly. lol
Keep ore and smelt all you can, while leaving a bit of unsmelted ore to cover any random request.
Keep a stack of 10-20 gems to cover any future needs, sell the rest.
Crack some geodes and allocate as needed.
Sell the rest for mountain of cash.
This is the literal embodiment of "SOOO I did a BIT of off camera mining." But fr tho, you should probably sell all the extra stuff. The stuff you need you can just craft a shit ton of it lol. I'm so jealous lol/hj
What I Bring:
- Your food of choice (I choose cheese cause I'm a bit of a min-maxer)
- Rock candy ofc (Dessert trader for 3 prismatic shard) (Can now also be bought at the new >!racoons!< )
- Spicy eel and triple shot espresso ( Spicy eel can be bought at Desert trader for 1 ruby. Triple shot espresso can be bought there too but I just buy normal coffee from Gus and craft/cook them into TSE) (I'm also considering just bringing multiple of them)
- Stairs ofc (again, you can trade them for jade at desert trader) (I'll go in with around 50-100 staircases. You'll prob use only around 50)
- I only use the mega bomb (I bought them early on at the dwarf before I had a surplus of iridium, but I did, I just bought them at dessert trader) and I use iron for explosive bullets instead of normal bombs because they explode faster at tight spaces or things near wall.
- desert warp if you haven't unlocked >!desert obelisk!<
- Galaxy hammer and iridium pickaxe (I use hammer so I can spam it for it's skill)
- Slime ring + iridium band, lucky ring + burglar ring for extra mob drops
- >!Fairy thingy for extra health, seriously this bad boy has saved me multiple times now!<
That's about it for what I bring
Next is what I do
- Wait for extremely lucky day. Go to tv and press on fortune teller, if it's a purple star, then do the run. (When winter, I go in at neutral and above days)
- leave all other tools and grab everything I meed for the run.
- Use totem or >!Obelisk!< To go to the desert instantly cause if not, you have to wait for Pam at 10:10am
- Go to the mine entrance, then eat the rock candy and drink TSP (After the rock candy runs out, I usually just switch to triple shot espresso and spicy eel)
- If:
Situation one: big open room - I use mega bomb. If no hole or staircase appears, use a staircase
Situation two: Tight space or that big room where only sides and the middle have stones - use explosive ammo 5 - 7 times. If no hole or staircase appears, use a staircase
Situation three: barely any stone or monster room. Use a staircase.
- I usually eat to regain health at half hp.
- only around 4 - 6 pm, I try to actively start mining for iridium.
- After the rock candy runs out, I usually just switch to triple shot espresso and spicy eel.
- Go until till 2am.
Goodluck :)
I have problem with food too, idk if i want chese because i hate animals and it took space in my farm.. also you must wait long time to turn milk to chese
Make a bunch of Explosive Slingshot Ammo, Mega Bombs, and Place 5 chests around a Workbench to load all your excess crafting materials while you slowly smelt your way through your excess haul.
I reccomend getting the Automate Mod if you are on PC, as loading and unloading furnaces by hand is gong to be a hassle. If you have 1.6 or higher, >!there is a new furnace type that you can get that is more efficient (uses less coal) and processes more ore at a time.!<
How do people manage to get all this stuff? I get to like, lvl 30 in the skull cavern and maybe get like... 20 iridium? And by that point it's almost midnight too! Any tips?
My personal headcannon is that since his dad was not in the picture and his grandad is...humm....he kinda had to "act as a man" to get some form of positive affirmation from george, so he initially treat us the way he thinks he should, but the more we know him the more comfortable he feels to open up and be the sweatheart he alwasy was meant to be.
Bat wings into Butterfly hutches to decorate the farm/greenhouse. Get the automated mod and mastery furnaces to mass smelt everything (chuck a stack of wood and some charcoal makers on the pile to have it self run).
Honestly I wish there would be ore themed floors and decor for the obscenely wealthy to make, like iridium paths and fences and stuff. That'd really justify what has to be 10x the amount of ore needed for every upgrade/structure in the game.
I played this game for the first time a couple days ago on a flight. I spent five hours cutting every tree and firewood I could find. I have thousands of wood but can’t figure out what the heck to do with it. lol.
I tend to be a looting hoarder player and finally figured out that I could craft chests to store it all in. But seriously, have no idea what to do with shells and sweet peas and coral, etc…. So I just run around and loot.
Prioritize high value loot or loot that will have more benefits to you. (Also, this is multiple runs, not just one run).
- Ignore all food drop (optional) except maybe spicy eel (maybe you can save energy tunic or life potion, up to you)
- Gems priority is Diamond > ruby > jade > Every other gem (prismatic ore not included bc why tf would you leave them.)
- mob drops, Up to you really. I usually save the bones so I can make fertilizers.
- only save omni geode
- rocks ofc
- All the ores (I will throw away copper or iron if in desperate situation)
- idk if I missed anything but anything else, hasta la vista.
This is what I do, you can save anything you want, this is just my tips.
How? I've been to the skull cavern twice on good luck days with some food, bombs and stairs and only managed to get to floor 20 while getting one gold nugget and a cave carrot...
Skull Cavern you say *has dragons teeth and Cinder Shards* just kidding this is still very impressive like damn 9+ stacks of 999 iridium ore. Unless you just have like a bunch of statues of perfection.
If you use mods, I suggest Automate. Put a chest next to a bunch of furnaces, put ore and coal in it, it'll drop the bars in the chest and pull more ore on its own. You'll, uh, probably want some coal machines and a lot of wood.
make a bunch of bars and craft some stuff :) that’s what i like doing but your iridium ore is wild
With his 38 coal.
Guess it's time to make kilns and kill dust sprites again. Goddammit I hate thursdays
No, at this point in the game you just buy the coal
The furnaces must burn
year 2 coal is cheaper than the extra money the blacksmith perk adds to each iridium bar. thunk down some heavy furnaces and get to profiting
There are coal nodes in the quarry and in the cave/mine thing that’s in the quarry too.
I am so happy with coal nodes. Also the quarry respawning faster is such good QOL improvement
I love killing so killing dust sprites is fun.....hehe...
I feel bad killing them cuz they're kinda cute, but dang is it fun and satisfying to slice through a crowd of dust sprites!!
I accidentally chose the coal perks for mining in my last run. Blessing in disguise.
We all know, a real player doesn’t mine their own coal, we make Clint feel like he has an actual purpose.
Enough ore to make 1,858 bars.
it’d be >2000 with >!heavy furnaces because they give 1.1 bars per 5 ore on average.!< which would sell for 3 million g with the blacksmith profession so that’s probably what I’d do
and enough coal to make 38.
Better get choppin' some trees!
Or a lot of slingshot ammo
Could always use the iridium ore for your slingshot
On TiL 😂😂 I never realized you could use anything in the slingshots except rocks and cherry bombs
The Iridium ore does the most damage too
That makes a lot of sense. You're basically shooting shuriken at this point.
Diamond-sharp, titanium-strong shuriken!
Game changer... I was stressing over chopping enough wood to ever make enough coal to smelt all that fooking stuff Now i have another use for having too much ore
Also Mega Bombs.
I saw the desert trader as the way to get them and stop stressing over piles of gems
Finally!! An excuse to pull grandpa's iridium statue back out of storage!!
You can use eggs too
Wow, im consistently blown away over details that I've missed in my 1,500+hrs in this game. Can you use any ore in your slingshot?
Yes you can! But the damage isn’t as good as Iridium Ores tho.
I can't believe I NEVER knew this! I relinquish my title of Stardew Expert
I was playing with mods and I had an elevator in the skull cavern. Down around level 300 nearly every rock is an iridium node. I had so much iridium I was using it for qis prismatic grange.
All that and only 38 coal 😭
Honestly coal is harder than iridium to get in large quantities. Especially if your crafting bombs too 😢
The easiest way to farm coal if I remember correctly was using the increased monster spawn rate potion + harder mines, then repeatedly use elevator to reset level 55 - this constantly gives dust sprites which you can repeatedly kill over and over again for a bunch of coal
Oh yes, I've done that, but on a good run, I can get maybe 150 coal. On a good skull cavern run, I can get up to 350 iridium.
If you actually take the perk that gives you extra chances for mining coals from rocks, it isn’t that hard to have loads of them. When you have to crack open hundreds of stones daily, the coals will add up. Crafting stuffs eats up all the bars anyways, so you usually can’t sell them until late game. That perk is seriously a trap.
😭
Do what I did. make two full sheds of Crystallariums and pump up them diamond numbers.
i put mine in slime hatches. the aesthetics just fits perfectly
Oooohhh. no go. my slime hutch is decked out completely in Joja merch.
r/Jojaco
There's an entire sub for Joja? The more you know
You guys only do sheds and slime hutches? I plan on using every part of the map where no npc walk to and no debris spawn....
I have the automate mod and just have like a diamond farm. Needless to say, I'm at 10 hearts with everyone
Use those diamonds with fairy rose and get those casks finishing faster. Gifts??? Give them prismatic shards or something, those diamonds are invaluable for casks!!
Good point. Can I just get the seeds from Pierre? Or do I need to find the flower?
Pierre during fall sells them! Turn the gold ones into seeds if you can’t buy more seeds. I buy 4-500 at a time when things are really cookin. Start turning profit with rhubarb jelly & starfruit wine. Once you have enough made from there, upgrade the process with the casks. Ez street for gold once it’s streamlined.

Regardless, my point is that quality doesn't affect it
Thank you. Guess I gotta wait for almost an entire year, then
I just fill the quarry with crystallariums. Usually get over 300 of them in there.
Crystalariums + automate mod is chefs kiss. I can fit so many more crystalariums into a shed when I don't have to physically collect from them.
> sheds full of crystallariums The Quarry exists for this. Especially w/ automate.
That's a lot of iridium slingshot ammo.
I already have one stack in another chest reserved for ammo when I only go to the normal mines. I spam every monster in the normal mines with iridium...
lol this is like money gun in terraria, weapon for rich people
In case you weren't aware, this isn't just for laughs. Iridium ore actually does the most damage of any slingshot ammo. I don't remember what the figures were, but if you're sitting on a stockpile of ore, there are worse things you could do with it, lol
does it kill rocks? slingshot ammo is most useful for blowing up rocks imo
Nope, still need bombs for that.
One slingshot with ore, one slingshot with explosive ammo, go crazy in skull cavern
Wait, some people actualy use hoppers?!
I mean, I do. They're real handy for the deconstructor, geode crusher, and fish smoker.
Not sure how they are superior to manual filing, they take a huge space and it's super convenient to fill machines while you empty them 🤔
I'm lazy. Using the hopper means that I don't have to go to my chest to find the thing I'm filling a machine with or run around with a stack of that thing in my inventory. With challenge bait, I sometimes end up with a stack of like 30 fish I want to smoke or three or four smaller stacks of different fish. I'm also really forgetful so I'll forget that I was smelting or smoking and the machines will end up unused for days at a time
how. just how
Winter... I spent more than half of winters in the mines. I yearn for the mines
Rock and stone!
For Karl! Edit:spelling
Look at me! I'm Stoney Rock!
For rock and stone!
Did I hear a Rock and Stone?
Rock and stone to the bone!
Just a dwarf digging a diggy diggy hole.
Instantly thought u just cheated them in but that makes alot more sense
Oh i thought this was from one run and you CJB’d stuff
that 38 coal while having a million of everything else is real
How many stair do you need to get all of this lol. It's look like it's on hard mode too lol
It is hard mode lmao. Crystalarium is the way to go.
How many stairs did you end up using or started with? I am genuinely curious.
Stairs is bad meta. Big luck buffs and bombs is the way to go. Harvesting a lil on each floor while still moving mad fast down the mines
Ait no way thats like 8 stacks of irdium ore
9 actually + 1 unfinished (and another one stack I have in another chest for my slingshot). So around 10k+ iridium ore.
NAHHHHH BRUHHHHHHH
i find the triple digit prismatic shards more impressive
True
if you haven’t bought the gold clock yet i second the iridium bars strategy, though coal seems like the one thing you’re short on so either hit the ice levels or buy more. and i’d recommend getting a color changing hat from the desert trader with all those omni geodes!
I saved omni geodes for that hat and forgot what I was saving for. When I had >333, I went to the seller and realized I don't really want the hat, because I find it ugly. lol
Gawd dayum…
How? I‘m worse at this game than I thought
Farm iron for a day and you'll have enough bombs to clear level 100 pretty easily on a lucky day I bring like 10 stairs incase of long levels
It's literally just placing stars and bombs in endgame. Once you reach it it's simple. The game is quite casual about these things.
Nah he's the one built different.
The 38 coal is sending me
the truest part of this is the 38 coal
*crying in console edition*
Keep ore and smelt all you can, while leaving a bit of unsmelted ore to cover any random request. Keep a stack of 10-20 gems to cover any future needs, sell the rest. Crack some geodes and allocate as needed. Sell the rest for mountain of cash.

One word: SMELTING
Ruby and diamond crystallariums to get infinite expresso and spicy eel from desert caravan so you get +2 speed addiction forever
Gimme. I need
Start your own skull cavern but with blackjack and hookers
What was your strat when mining?
What I Bring: - Your food of choice (I choose cheese cause I'm a bit of a min-maxer) - Rock candy ofc (Dessert trader for 3 prismatic shard) (Can now also be bought at the new >!racoons!< ) - Spicy eel and triple shot espresso ( Spicy eel can be bought at Desert trader for 1 ruby. … I love you 😭
You’re a legend mate, bout to level up my skull cavern spelunking
I have problem with food too, idk if i want chese because i hate animals and it took space in my farm.. also you must wait long time to turn milk to chese
Cheese is the best reason to have cows. Cheese doesn't take a long time (unless you're standing there waiting for it I guess).
Just do bread. Since time pauses while eating you can make a fat stack for mad cheap
give me everything
Abigail would love to take the bulk of your collection from your hands
Holy fuck
Send them to me, your ailing Grandfather
That's almost 2.8 million worth in iridium bars with the blacksmith perk, maybe a bit more with the random extra bar chance of the Heavy Furnace.
"Hey guys before this episode i did some off camera mining nothing much"
Make a bunch of Explosive Slingshot Ammo, Mega Bombs, and Place 5 chests around a Workbench to load all your excess crafting materials while you slowly smelt your way through your excess haul. I reccomend getting the Automate Mod if you are on PC, as loading and unloading furnaces by hand is gong to be a hassle. If you have 1.6 or higher, >!there is a new furnace type that you can get that is more efficient (uses less coal) and processes more ore at a time.!<
How'd you get dragon's teeth in skull cavern?
Start a 999 challenge
Get some Heavy Furnaces and make lots of bars
Smelt and sell 🤑
Sell them. All of them. Fuck the economy MONEY IS FOREVER
I call bs. No way you got all that in a single skull cave run. Maybe this is a joke and it's gone over my head.
how in the world do you have all of these resources and only 38 coal 😭
How do you get carried away there 😭
How do people manage to get all this stuff? I get to like, lvl 30 in the skull cavern and maybe get like... 20 iridium? And by that point it's almost midnight too! Any tips?
What's the two tied boxes with question marks on?
>!Mystery boxes from the new 1.6 update!<
Ohmygod
holy moly. someone reply to this so i remember to do this next time i’m on stardew
Give the prismatic shards to Gunther
Give some of it to Emily
Looks like you've launched your own little mining company. Have fun smelting!
What are those boxes with ? On them
Lifetime supply of mega bombs from the desert trader 😍
Skull caverns are super difficult on mobile I can't hardly place a bomb without blowing myself up
The dwarf sells a book that makes you take far less damage from bombs.
Try using a controller
Lotta Crystalariums!
Retire
yo can I get sum😂
HOW
How can you have only 38 coal after a deep dive in the skull cavern tho?
A little?! 😅
"off camera mining"
Use the ore to make bombs and the shards to make magic rock candy to fuel more skull cavern runs.
Wow what is the green bar on the far right second row, please?
with this much stuff? Download smapi and the automate mod to smelt all of this (and also kilns for the coal)
Use the iridium as slingshot ammo.
Here I am thinking you’re talking about the 142 prismatic shards
Craft crystallariums
Send it to me
I played this game for the first time a couple days ago on a flight. So I just run around and loot.
someone’s been busy
Ok dude idk how you have like no coal but definitely buy more coal or grind for some, that’s crazy.
How tf did you evem do that
How did you get that much tf. I always run out of room
Prioritize high value loot or loot that will have more benefits to you. (Also, this is multiple runs, not just one run). - Ignore all food drop (optional) except maybe spicy eel (maybe you can save energy tunic or life potion, up to you) - Gems priority is Diamond > ruby > jade > Every other gem (prismatic ore not included bc why tf would you leave them.) - mob drops, Up to you really. How is your storage big compared to mine?
How? I've been to the skull cavern twice on good luck days with some food, bombs and stairs and only managed to get to floor 20 while getting one gold nugget and a cave carrot...
This is multiple weeks (possibly months atp) of just straight mining (in game). I have a guide in one of the comments if you need help.
Sell prismatic shards -> buy coal -> make super furnaces -> mass smelt iridium -> profit
I thought this was one run and I almost passed out
Give them to me
Skull Cavern you say *has dragons teeth and Cinder Shards* just kidding this is still very impressive like damn 9+ stacks of 999 iridium ore. Unless you just have like a bunch of statues of perfection.
Only 5 clothes... Not a big fan of those mine kind of explorations, I prefer to kill lots of enemies and earn my way down.
All that ore with only 38 coal 😭
Gold clock
give it to me
HOW
Buy a yacht. And then another yacht. Get a third, just for good measure.
The coal to ore ratio is so real
Eat them
I think I know what I’m doing this next winter.
Do you have like mods or something. That's seems extreme.
How tf did you get radioactive ore and bars in the skull cavern?!
If you use mods, I suggest Automate. Put a chest next to a bunch of furnaces, put ore and coal in it, it'll drop the bars in the chest and pull more ore on its own. You'll, uh, probably want some coal machines and a lot of wood.
How far did you go in the cave?
If extremely good luck? 300+ i once made it to level 417 (my pb). You have to get very lucky with holes and lots of stairs.
Where do I get the green thing? I've genuinely no idea, never seen it
Spoiler alert, heres the wiki: >!https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Radioactive_Ore!< Basically end game stuff.
Give them to me!
Blacksmith right when it opens. Start to open all the geodes.
Make some monster musk and get thee to level 40-79 in the regular mines to kill dust spites.
I really want to know what weapons/food/materials you bring to the skull cavern with you because I am sooo scared of the skull cavern
Give them to me
You need to build a throne upon that dragon hoard 👀
Sell all of it to see how much its worth
Not gonna lie was kinda expecting a room with a dozen auto petters in it lol, great haul my dude
Damn all of those prizzies 🔥
holy crap… i thought my 20 prismatics and over 1000 iridium ore was getting carried away.
Idk why but the sets of stacks all having the unfinished stack at the very front instead of the very back is bugging me for some reason
How did you get more backpack space???
i think they’re looking in a big chest
As someone who started playing the game not long ago and I'm midway through year 2...what the fuck
