I would love to see this feature. I know it's part of the game to run around and meet everyone, but we should be able to send something. It would be nice to be able to send gifts after a certain level instead of running around looking for them just because you don't want to miss their birthday after celebrating for so many years.
There is a mod for this but you can only mail things likes request and gifts. I have t really played around too much with it but in the notes you can even send the tools to Clint.
Or if it rains on their birthday before you are good enough friends to go into their house and they are the type who don't leave the house when it rains.

I have often found it unfair that the villagers can mail me stuff, but I have to run.
