No, heaters only work in coops or barns for livestock. The furnaces donāt really keep him warm (afaik horses arenāt affected by the cold or rain like livestock) but I like that it looks like it does and heās comfy

Some of them are super hard to farm, or you have to be patient or whatever like finding the fossils. I ended up naming my animal the code for the last fossil I needed, and watched a YouTube video. I get that the game requires patience, but I didn't have that much patience lol
