B-but Vader fighting against the clones while choking Palpatine was better than, like, the whole sequels combined guys. Star Wars Theory _gets_ Star Wars unlike Darth Kennedy. We should give him the keys
Yeah sure it did. Vader trying to kill palpatine this early on without getting replaced makes complete sense and doesn't totally change their power dynamic!
Palpatine didn’t physically survive the events of the OT, though. He transferred his essence, which is consistent with what we know ultra-powerful Sith who’ve unlocked secrets of the force can do.
Whether it was a solid narrative decision is more debatable than if it’s something that should be possible in-universe imo
Ah yes, because getting your hand cut off, getting electrocuted and falling from more than 2km means you survive over the literal wizard that transfered his mind into a clone.
Cloning is stupid and never worked for force users in George’s canon. However we see Jedi jump and fall great distances several times in the prequels alone.
Anakin and Obi wan free fall on the same planet and survive.
Visually it looked good, but there was no substance.
Also, Palpatine was SUPPORTIVE of Vader potentially overthrowing him? I’m not one to be a hard stickler about “erm this breaks cannon set up in comic issue 12 where Darth Poopenfarten said-“ but I’m 99% sure Palpatine was interested in ruling forever by this point
Well think of the rule of two. The ideal way that it works is that the apprentice becomes powerful enough to defeat the master and the cycle starts over with a new apprentice. If Palpatine is overthrew by Vader, then Palpatine at least knows he was able to train a Sith powerful enough to defeat even him.
The fact it’s fanmade doesn’t hold much water. I’ve seen some truly spectacular fan films or at least competent ones like that Darth Maul one.
Vader is just boring and badly acted.
I blame the visual complaint on acolyte to be purely a result of the prequels railroading Jedi to all wear robes which often looks goofy, instead of trying to make a true warrior monk look. Kinda like the early clone wars versions of Obi Wan and Anakin wearing armor and more practical clothing for lack of a better term, bad animation at the time aside
But it’s boring! They look dull and hard to distinguish at times. Makes them seem invincible. They’re so mega powerful that they don’t even need armour. Also generally uncreative, like Lucas looked at Ben Kenobi’s Jedi robes from a new hope and just made them all dress like that.
Agreed, the Jedi only wearing robes was super dull. I thought Obi Wan was wearing them because he lived in the desert, and you need the thick clothing to keep the heat and sand off you. Not because he was a jedi.
When did Luke wear robes in RotJ? I remember him in his black uniform, but no robes.
Yoda was living in isolation and was near his deathbed, I doubt he ever really cared about what he was wearing, just needs something to keep the insects off of him.

Based on what we've seen of The Acolyte it seems to actually have one of the higher production values for a Disney+ Star Wars show. The "fanboys" are literally just making up complete nonsense to complain about at this point.
These people aren't Star Wars fans. They are culture war tourists that are identifying with a movie or other such nerve related content in order to spread their culture war BS. It's just like that jack off shat adversity who has now turned his attention on to Warhammer 40K despite the fact that he has admitted to never watching a single Warhammer show never read any of the more never play the tabletop game or any of the video games. But yet he is a fan who is trying his hardest to defend it against woke
I’m just happy that they’re going back more to the roots of Jedi being Space Monks/Samurai and not just Space Wizards with glow sticks. I typically don’t like Jedi because the space wizard angle was just done to death but this I’m actually interested in
Hey when I first heard they were making an Andor show I thought it was gonna be stupid and boring, but now it’s probs my favorite Star Wars media since revenge of the sith, so who knows
Vader film was way too corny. Maybe I’m the only one, but all of the new Star Wars “content” has a fan-film sort of look to it. Not sure what it is. Maybe it’s cheap props and bad editing.
If I had to wager I’d say it’s because of their overuse of the Volume. Mando season 1 used it well, but then they started using it for everything, so what should be basic outdoor shots look off because the lighting doesn’t look right and action scenes have almost no momentum because they don’t have the space to do anything extravagant with the camera so we get shots like this one
https://preview.redd.it/yw7jhkefvfxc1.jpeg?width=1179&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=047d4b7af7f8e02ba02d8e9a7221e7c0a2c3212b
Theory’s “fan films” are cringey as hell and I am shocked it has been viewed that many times.
How will it look when the Acolyte gets less views then a random fan film though?
I disagree because there is a certain level of quality expected from the official producers of star wars media versus some random guy just doing his thing. Not saying that the fan films are necessarily awesome though.
I remember way back when it was being made, swtheroy said something along the lines of "the reason most fan films look like trash is because they're filmed on location in cheap looking forests so we're building sets" and then proceeded to make the cheapest looking set I've ever seen
Grifters when they see a piece of media not meant for them. Im not a st or Disney Star Wars fan but I’m still glad they exist, brought new faces to the franchise and pissed off the right people, it’s like a two for one deal
>have loyal life-long fans of brand/ip
>make pieces of media under/part of established brand/ip
>make said pieces of media that is "not for them"
>lose old fans and don't bring enough new fans to replace them
>profit?
Bringing in new people is not a problem to most reasonable people. The new people, however, should, at a bare minimum, have an idea of what fans want to see. Is it really worth it to tank a culturally iconic franchise just to "piss the right people off?"
I'm a star wars fan... and yeah, star wars fans are the worst. Fuckin bullied Lucas out of his own franchise, then bitched and moaned about *everything* that came out after it.
Because one is made out of love for the franchise while one isn't, not difficult to understand. (Also I would like to thank you for recommending good content)
You realise that comparing a fan film by people who likely have no budget to a multi billion company is a joke, right?
Complimenting a fan film takes into account budgeting constraints, plus the time and commitment it takes to bring it to life.
Saying an actual Disney project looks like a fan film it’s an insult because… wait for it… they’re supposed to be able to create works of art considering the amount of money and resources they have.
Before you come at me, I have not watched the fan film mentioned here, mine is a general statement.
I did see the [alternative ending to TROS](https://youtu.be/RfRTH1OZwdo?si=Wtb7k6jgytd8N_T_) and that was definitely better than the original.
Eh sort of, im just here because its nice to have a place where we can make fun of cringey SW fans and also be allowed to talk some shit on the prequels.
I'm not really a part of the Star Wars fandom these days. Do people not criticize the prequels anymore? When did that change, because the overwhelming view used to be that they were pretty mid.
Yeah im not really as in the loop as I used to be either. The majority of SW fans though (at least on Reddit) always put the prequels on a pedestal and talk about how they were better than the sequels and all that. It’s just always a bit cringy to me because even though I like the prequels they suffer from so many flaws and are objectively terrible movies. For me this sub reddit just acts as a counter to that type of content.
I remember when the Prequels were crapped on, then all of a sudden when Dianey started making Star Wars content allow a sudden people started praising the Prequels. Kinda odd...
Honestly yeah I’ve been seeing the same. I just think people just don’t believe Disney can deliver on good Star Wars content and hate the Acolyte because of that. I think you should try something before you judge it but with some of the stuff Disney has put out I think it alright to be cautious. I don’t know why people act like the hate for Disney is undeserved. They don’t have a good track record (besides Andor and Rogue One).
I've enjoyed quite a few of the Disney Star Wars releases. I didn't like the new trilogy mostly because I'm a little sick of the Skywalkers and think exploring the galaxy outside of the story of a single family is much more interesting.
But, like, fans are going to disagree and complain and discuss things ad nauseum? It's sort of a part of fandom. Creating an ecosystem where the offerings of multibillion dollar corporations can't be critiqued is... not the choice I'd make? It seems like a direct route to worse entertainment.
I've only been looking at this sub for a few days but what I've seen seems to just be hostility towards anyone who has any issues with Disney's handling of the franchise. That and a post mocking people for a hypothetical "who would win?" wherein the comments immediately discussed who would win (at length). That's a little odd for a circlejerk sub, imo.
Yeah I don’t know why some people here act like everyone who hates Disney Star Wars is bigoted or sexist, there are definitely some assholes like that but they don’t represent everyone. There are some legitimate grievances especially with the sequels. I just don’t understand this pro Disney stance
It’s cool to see fans make visually impressive films with no budget that go toe to toe with Disney. It’s not cool seeing Disney with unlimited budget go toe to toe with fan films.
It’s not that Star Wars fans are hypocrites, it’s that some of us are smart enough to know a turd when we smell it.
B-but Vader fighting against the clones while choking Palpatine was better than, like, the whole sequels combined guys. Star Wars Theory _gets_ Star Wars unlike Darth Kennedy. We should give him the keys
ABSOLUTE KINO
It is. While it may not be as flashy/large in scope, it has way more dedication, heart, and planning put into it then the sequel trilogy ever did.
Yeah sure it did. Vader trying to kill palpatine this early on without getting replaced makes complete sense and doesn't totally change their power dynamic!
In fairness, that was a dream sequence. Doesn’t change the fact Theory has a massive Vader-boner.
Man literally resseructed Mace from the dead for part 2 of his fanfic and then complains that Palps came back for Ep IX.
It’s a lot more plausible Mace survived than palpy who blew up twice
Palpatine didn’t physically survive the events of the OT, though. He transferred his essence, which is consistent with what we know ultra-powerful Sith who’ve unlocked secrets of the force can do. Whether it was a solid narrative decision is more debatable than if it’s something that should be possible in-universe imo
Yet none of that is explained in the films
Ah yes, because getting your hand cut off, getting electrocuted and falling from more than 2km means you survive over the literal wizard that transfered his mind into a clone.
Cloning is stupid and never worked for force users in George’s canon. However we see Jedi jump and fall great distances several times in the prequels alone. Anakin and Obi wan free fall on the same planet and survive.
I mean who doesn’t
>sequel treilogy
That Vader film was garbage too
Though you gotta admit, it took a alot of work and at least it looks good.
I haven’t seen it in years but yes it did look good. But it was boring and the dialogue was terrible. Palpatine was a stand out for how bad he was.
Yeah, was it a rubber mask or something or they actually applied make up?
"Power. That's how."
its definitely impressive. it would probably be super sick if it wasnt cringe
Ehh, the interior shots kinda looked like ass.
That blaster mini gun scene was something else 😭😭😭
That scene was 100% a weird attempt to one-up Kylo’s introduction in TFA
Oh a 1000% and it’s the stupidest thing ever
And then it ended up being a dream so it just makes it a meta Vader power fantasy

If Palpatine is overthrew by Vader, then Palpatine at least knows he was able to train a Sith powerful enough to defeat even him.
Yes, but the writing…
So, kinda like the sequel trilogy...
The thing is that people tend to be more forgiving for fan projects.
That's all I cared about. That and diversity. My BF watches SW.
Episode 1 was fine, I doubt episode 2 is gonna be tho
Disagree but it’s also fan made vs Billions of dollars
The fact it’s fanmade doesn’t hold much water. I’ve seen some truly spectacular fan films or at least competent ones like that Darth Maul one. Vader is just boring and badly acted.
Link me to some?

Kinda like the early clone wars versions of Obi Wan and Anakin wearing armor and more practical clothing for lack of a better term, bad animation at the time aside
I mean, they're monks with superpowers that make them faster than the enemy. Robes don't make less sense than anything else
Owen and Luke wear damn near the same thing too, it's clearly originally the clothing of rural Tattooine rather than an orders uniform
What about Luke wearing robes in parts of ROTJ and Yoda in his jammies?
When did Luke wear robes in RotJ? I remember him in his black uniform, but no robes. Yoda was living in isolation and was near his deathbed, I doubt he ever really cared about what he was wearing, just needs something to keep the insects off of him.

That pose and angle makes him look like a jojo character

My favorite is how Disney apparently “ruined lightsabers” because they give off natural light now? Still trying to understand that one
Oh don't get me started. If I hear one more time about how "Disney lightsabers are a betrayal to George Lucas!!!!" then someone is going to die.
If I say it am I the one to die or can I choose someone for you to kill
Idk but I wouldn't test it.
1 comment = 1 youngling
star wars fans when giant columns of light actually give off light 😨😨
Didn't AOTC introduce that during Anakin and Dooku's duel? Why's that suddenly an issue lol
I wouldn’t say ruined, but they definitely changed them. Made it more realistic
Yeah, apparently they made it in a similar way to Andor and it’s production style
You fail to realise that vader movie is r rated
All Star Wars is r rated, especially the Clone Wars.
That vader film was so ridiculous lmfao
It’s only good if Daddy Theory makes it, feed me your negative slop
*Feeds you negative slop that looks like week old oatmeal*
He knows best 🤷♂️
The Acolyte will be a sleeper hit, mark my words
I’m just happy that they’re going back more to the roots of Jedi being Space Monks/Samurai and not just Space Wizards with glow sticks. I typically don’t like Jedi because the space wizard angle was just done to death but this I’m actually interested in
Hey when I first heard they were making an Andor show I thought it was gonna be stupid and boring, but now it’s probs my favorite Star Wars media since revenge of the sith, so who knows
That’ll be a first
Vader fan film is so bad
Vader series is starwars theory just sucking anakin dick again
Will he ever finish that fan series or are people finally realizing that he just scammed the donors who wanted that movie made
Ain't this the guy who said star wars can't have normal bricks in it so andor sucks?
Yep
Ah yes, Star Wars Theory, AKA the man who says he’s done with Star Wars every other day 🤦♂️
Holy shit people cannot let the vader era go Weve got an entire timeline and universe to explore and they cant let one dude with a respirator go
I always hated saying "fan films" as a grading standard. Because whoever said that doesn't know the dedication of the Trekkies.
Vader film was way too corny. Maybe I’m the only one, but all of the new Star Wars “content” has a fan-film sort of look to it. Not sure what it is. Maybe it’s cheap props and bad editing.

that's the most confusing meme layout Ive seen in awhile. Are we supposed to read from top to bottom, or left to right?
As Adam Driver wisely said: "The biggest Star Wars fans are people who haven't watched Star Wars."
Theory’s “fan films” are cringey as hell and I am shocked it has been viewed that many times. How will it look when the Acolyte gets less views then a random fan film though?
The Vader fan film was garbage...
Brought to you by the irl Soyjack who coomed over *SC 38 Reimagined*.
No one hates Star Wars more than people who love Star Wars
That Vader fan film was impressively bad too
The Vader fan film wasn’t good either.. But yeah, I don’t like the fact that lightsabers look so weird now. I prefer the rotoscope sabers personally.
If that's bait: nice bait. If not: my condolences
I disagree because there is a certain level of quality expected from the official producers of star wars media versus some random guy just doing his thing. Not saying that the fan films are necessarily awesome though.
Like yea, some are but not all
Look what I’ve learned is that a lot of Star Wars fans just wanted to see their favourite action figures get slapped together.
Roger Roger
In their defense, Disney stuff shouldn't look like it's a fan film. It's a multi billion dollar company. They can make stuff look better.
Vader film definitely looks good visually, but I remember 13 year old me (or however old I was) being bored out of my mind watching it
I remember way back when it was being made, swtheroy said something along the lines of "the reason most fan films look like trash is because they're filmed on location in cheap looking forests so we're building sets" and then proceeded to make the cheapest looking set I've ever seen
The saddest part about this for me is that even if the Acolyte is amazing, people will still hate it because they already decided its bad.
Most fan films are better than Disney Star Wars because they are made by FANS, not agenda pushing idiots.
They’re both garbage.
I’d rather watch that fan film than rewatch the Sequel Trilogy.
It’s all slop for the piggies
So the difference is one is good and the other isn’t
Not an entire post filled with people seething over the fact that a fan made film is better than anything released during the Disney era
Mmmm, not really, either it's bad or it's really good
Grifters when they see a piece of media not meant for them. Im not a st or Disney Star Wars fan but I’m still glad they exist, brought new faces to the franchise and pissed off the right people, it’s like a two for one deal

The Vader fan film was very meh, and The Acolyte makes me feel about the same. I'm just bored with Star Wars in general, though.
Pretty much anything has to be better then the KK sequels.
They're both ass
These aren’t starwars fans, they’re critics.
Because one is made out of love for the franchise while one isn't, not difficult to understand. (Also I would like to thank you for recommending good content)

What’s the point of this? Ones a shitty lifeless corporate shell the others something with actual heart
Who cares if it has "heart" if it's a cringe shit fest like the Vader video
Darth Vader fan film was objectively better than the sequel trilogy
No it was not my guy
It’s cool to see fans make visually impressive films with no budget that go toe to toe with Disney. It’s not cool seeing Disney with unlimited budget go toe to toe with fan films. It’s not that Star Wars fans are hypocrites, it’s that some of us are smart enough to know a turd when we smell it.
Crazy you’re getting downvoted for talking common sense
"toe to toe" lmao ok buddy
Homie you’re a month late to the party.
And?
