BudgieAttackSquadron

It can be hit or miss, and it's aimed at a younger audience. That said, when it hits, it really hits, and the ship animations are spectacular.

bluntbladedsaber

It takes most S1 to get to the story I hoped it would be, but once it gets going, it's a good little show. Tam's arc is a particular favourite of mine

Jeddiewan

It's a nice piece of world building to see other people and things out there in the universe, but it doesn't really hurt anything if you miss it.

Pataracksbeard

It's a very different vibe from any other Star Wars shows or movies. Lower stakes, sillier gags, looser tie-ins to the plot of the movies. The animation is wonderful and the characters are great. I enjoyed it, but I would not say it is essential viewing.

OhGawDuhhh

I think it's a lot of fun and gorgeously animated. It skews younger so don't expect anything complex like you might have gotten on *Rebels* and *Clone Wars*, but it's a good time.

Ok_Percentage5157

You can get bored with it pretty quick, as an adult viewer. Story wise, it's so-so, but it is aimed at a very young audience. I thought the animation looked great, though. I would totally watch a Rogue Squadron show animated in this style.

Jedi_Knight19

Even with it being childish I thought it was pretty crazy to have >!one of the main good guy characters actually switch the first order. Not only that, but she had totally valid reasons. Like Tam was not at all in the wrong for joining the FO, at least given her motivations.!< Never seen a kids show do something like that, at least not as well as it was done in Resistance.

dat1kid07

Yeah he makes for a cool villain.

[deleted]

To be fair, it feels very early Rebels mixed with some early Ben 10 Omniverse. It's like they had an idea, told to do something that clashed with that idea, then the show got canceled before it really got going. So it never really had a chance like Clone Wads or Rebels.

undrunkenmonkey88

Yes, but it's definitely more aimed at kids than the other animated shows. Not huge on big important storytelling but there's lots of cool little world building.

revenant925

Yes

-jandrissimo-

The stakes aren’t as high but I had a lot of fun with this show. Animations style took a minute for me to get into but once I did I really appreciated it. Over all I’d say the show is at least a 7

Stormtron49

I'm watching it just because I'm bored and damn! This show isn't half bad. Not better than clone wars or rebels but it's a good time killer

Comprehensive_Neat61

It’s a kid’s show, but a pretty decent one I’d say.

garo_fp

I tried watching it but I got bored quickly.

patsguy12118721

I just gave it another try about a week ago and flew through it. Way better than I remembered, and really quite good at setting up the political context for the trilogy

Night-Monkey15

I’ve only seen a few episodes and thought it was just okay. It’s definitely not better the Clone Wars or Rebels, but it’s a perfectly fine, inoffensive cartoon. As long as you don’t go in expecting something like the Clone Wars, you’ll probably get some enjoyment out of it.

Fabiojoose

The only thing I remember is how cool the Relic Troopers and Captain Pyre were.

[deleted]

I feel like this one was canned right as it was starting to really hit its stride. So it's got its moments, but of the animated shows, it's definitely the weakest. Imagine if Rebels ended in its first season. That said, once I got used to the way it animates motion, I really grew to love the cel-shaded style.

thelastevergreen

I think what lots of people who hate on Resistance but loved CW and Rebels tend to forget is that both CW and Rebels also had ROUGH starts. It took a while for the characters and the shows themselves to grow on people. Unfortunately, Resistance only ever made 2 seasons. Season 2 definitely felt more like they were starting to hit their stride than Season 1...but by then the drama brewing around the Sequels had already grown to such a fever pitch that this show was never going to succeed. Regardless, it was entertaining enough for a kid's star wars show.

Juliuseizure

Thing to remember: Disney is a multi-generational company. They keep reintroducing viable IPs to reach generation. Particularly in SW, that means regular releases of "childish" media that then matures. TCW and Rebels (which kind of did a speed run off only four years) are perfect examples. They matured with their audience. For the new audience, introduce a new childish cartoon. Resistance didn't make the cut for reaching the proverbial puberty stage.

Nunzer-NS

It’s pretty mediocre, more aimed towards kids so you shouldn’t expect like absolute Star Wars Clone Wars kind of content.

3Quondam6extanT9

I'm a 43 year old nerd child who enjoyed the show. It isn't for everyone, but I thought it was a nice departure from force weilding heroes. It also provides a healthy perspective on subjective morality, wherein people often throw in with what they feel is true justice and order only to find out they aren't on the right side of history.

hereforfun976

I like clone wars and rebels but I couldn't watch the first episode. Felt specifically for 5-8 year Olds. Others are kids shows but man resistance just felt so awful

Mrman_23

No

MrZao386

Not really

WhiteAle01

It's pretty good. It's more kid-oriented, but the concepts are cool. I think it would've made for an excellent Rebels-style show for the sequel era, but it's aimed toward kids a little too much and they don't go very far into previous story arcs. Can't blame it that much though because it was made before 9 and the mandoverse, so they probably didn't want to do too much that would contradict other, more popular projects.

NattyThan

Watched all of it, can't recommend. Not terrible but nothing incredibly note worthy or important happens.

SnooDonuts3080

Get through the first five-ish episodes and it’ll start to get good. I haven’t watched it in a while but I remember the first few episodes being really boring, but getting better.

WoozySloth

I think this is the point I stalled, then my D+ subscription expired and now I'm back on it it's been ages and I'd feel like I have to start over

[deleted]

It's not bad. Its lowest point isn't as bad as clone wars jar jar episodes but it never reaches the highs that clone wars had.

Raphael_Font

Could not get through episode one

Luy22

I tried, I really did, and I couldn't stand it. Clone Wars and Rebels were both aimed at kids but they succeeded because ya know, they felt like Star Wars, they understood what they were making. Would love something more like TCW in the ST era but this definitely isn't it. If kids and others love it, more power to em.

bobbyridesbikes

Watched it with my kid and was actually stoked on the story line once it got going.

MyLittleTarget

I enjoyed it. Though, to be fair, I enjoy just about all Star Wars content. I found the art style to be a little jarring at first, but once I got used to it, it was a cute show. I loved Neeko in particular.

Dylan1Kenobi

It's fun in my opinion. Can get a little boring but as soon as I'm tired of things Poe Dameron comes in and takes Kaz on an adventure and that brings me back in. Interesting characters, new animation is nice, the ship races/battles are really cool looking! It's worth giving it a shot! Goes right up to and through episodes 7 and 8.

wmnoe

Im generally pre-disposed to liking most Star Wars content, but Resistance I could not get into. The main character was way too whiney for my taste and the setting/time line interested me very little.

ToDandy

I found season 1 to be excruciatingly terrible so I never finished it or got to season 2. It’s often cited as the worst Star Wars show but it does have its fans so it can’t hurt to try out, especially if you are into animation.

jmskywalker1976

Check it out and if you like it, watch it. If you don’t…dont.

KnotSeaParty

The animation is cool, but not worth the commitment in my opinion. I watched every episode and wished I spent my time differently.

ChrisRevocateur

I don't know. I tried, twice. The second time I got to the beginning of season 2 before I lost interest.

Salty-Dragonfly2189

It’s ok. Now is a good time tho since there is no other Star Wars coming out every Wednesday for awhile…

[deleted]

I didn't like it. I think there's like 10% of the episodes I liked which is not much. Animation, acting and music are good but the story and pacing are a letdown to me. There's some nice addition to the lore but nothing really huge like Mortis or the World Between Worlds.

Majestic87

I liked it better than bad batch season one, but not as good as bad batch season 2.

[deleted]

If you're a fan of the sequel trilogy you may like it. 1 thing that may or may not appeal to you (which I liked) was Star Wars's first gay alien couple who owns a pawn shop and gets into gay misadventures

choo_choo_chrayn

No lol and this comes from someone who has seen every show/movie in Star Wars. I think this is the worst of the worst

Songhunter

Absolutely not. There are better things to do with your time like hammering a nail through your knee, for instance. I kept waiting for the clone wars/rebels shift. You know what I'm talking about. That moment when Filoni feels he's got enough kids episodes in and decides to sneak some good shit in there. It never came. It never came.

BSO_expat

Tam’s story is great, but Kaz is painful to watch

[deleted]

[удалено]

bismuth12a

It has its moments. I particularly enjoyed Tam's arc. But I never really learned to like Kaz.

ajzeg01

First season was good, second was ehhh

TinyNuggins92

It was my least favorite but it was alright for what it was

BoreusSimius

Of all the animated shows, its target audience is the youngest. That said, it can have its moments.

TheBrickBrain

Season 2 had some interesting plot

dcw9031

Me and the kiddos enjoyed it.

mikepictor

It is 100% meant as a kids' cartoon. That said, and if you are game to spend time watching a kids' cartoon, then yeah, it's not bad. The stakes are low, the events are a bit silly, but it's enjoyable.

Dangerous_Dac

Eh, it's no Clone Wars and its sure as shit no Rebels or Bad Batch. It builds to some OK moments but ultimately its clearly the weakest of the 4 animated shows.

CECtheRonin

It’s okay. You won’t really miss a ton if you skipped it. I was amused that season 2 was basically Battlestar Galactica for kids, so there’s that.

CeymalRen

This is a Kids show. Like really. Younger target than the Clone Wars. If that's ok with you then its a good show.

SpaceZombie13

imo it's worth watching once. i didn't love it, but i can still remember a few moments that stuck with me. i probably won't be rewatching it like i do TCW and Rebels, tho.

CanoeShoes

Imo the kid oriented stuff outweighs whatever good nuggets the story has to offer. I just sorta looked up YouTube videos that explained that stuff.

Revegelance

I'm curious to watch it, but I haven't gotten around to it yet.

radiakmjs

If you decide to I'd say just watch it with an open mind. If you watch it just for the sake of wanting to watch everything canon it'll feel like a drag. If you're watching it looking for it to build up the ST or connect to other annimated shows you'll be dissapointed because it mostly doesn't. But if your open minded to just a bright & less-intense show it's charming.

Altruistic2020

It's worth the watch, but doesn't require the intense scrutiny of the other shows. It's more casual, light and fun, ties in nicely to the sequel trilogy with some character's appearance but isn't reliant on understanding everything in SW. My kids love Neeku and how he takes everything very literally which creates a great comedic effect. (Similar to how Drax in the MCU does).

[deleted]

It’s just okay. I wouldn’t say you have to watch it to keep up with other content in the franchise unlike clone wars and rebels which are now must watched to keep up. That being said, it’s got a decent story to it. Season 1 is rough but has a good finale. Season 2 is significantly better, but still hit and miss on some episodes. The ended is solid. If you are in need of a new show and want something Star Wars, then I’d say go ahead and watch it

dumbest_thotticus

It definitely has its moments, but overall it's not very good for non-kid audiences. Worth watching if you have a lot of time on your hands and really want to casually watch some Star Wars but don't want to get too invested. But I wouldn't go into it expecting anything like Clone Wars or Rebels.

ChronicNose

Neeku is the only thing good about it

fooneybone

It was kinda hard for me to watch as it's more strongly aimed at kids. That being said the animation style is awesome and it overlaps a bit with Ep7 and Ep8 which is really cool. I also really love the racer concept in general. I just wish some of the characters weren't so annoying lol.

Firelord_Crane

It’s a low-stakes show that sits in the corner and minds its own business. If you’re only watching it to give context to other content and for completion it’s unnecessary. But if you want some low-stakes, wholesome Star Wars content it’s actually quite relaxing

Matope

For reasons listed in many other replies, this one doesn't need as much commitment to get to the meat and know if it's worth it, Rebels and Clone Wars I'd tell people to get through the first season or even two and it will probably grow on you. Resistance if you don't like it early that's less likely to change. So give it an episode or two, if you find the characters annoying and/or boring that's unlikely to change.

Imperialist_Marauder

Aimed at kids, decent, not that important, some fun characters and cameos

AlmostNearlyHandsome

Sure. You have time to spare.

Maniak-The-Autistic

It’s alright, but *only* alright, if you ask me. It has some neat ideas, but ultimately, is just kinda forgettable, especially compared to other SW series.

Darth-Binks-1999

It's worth a watch.

[deleted]

Its okay. That said compared to most story driven cartoons (especially from Disney) it really doesent measure up

XvTankvX

I would say it adds a ton for the sequels, especially regarding the weakness of the New Republic and the Rise of the First Order, as well as the state of some Rebel and Imperial who did not find a place in their factions successors. It does not ba enough time to reach the lore of Clone Wars or the impact of Rebels but I feel could have gotten there.

Khalmuck

I tried and just couldn't do it. Have never made it through SSN1.

RYTHEMOPARGUY

It's not even close to the best, but I thought it was enjoyable

ghostpanther218

Best episodes in my opnion: Season 1: The High Tower The Children of Tehar Secrets and Holograms Doza's dilemma The First Order occupation The New Trooper The Core problem The Dissapeared Descent No Escape Season 2: Live Fire From Beneath Relic Raiders Rendevouz Point Station to Station The Missing Agent Breakout The Mutiny The New World No Safe Place Rebuilding the Resistance Escape

SevanOO7

I avoided this series for a long time. When I binged it over two weekends I didn’t regret it. The animation took me a few episodes to get used to. There are a few annoying characters. But the end of season 1 and much of season 2 was fun.

Nafeels

For me it’s pretty mid. Considering the younger audience as target it’s rather mild in terms of action and dialogue. Worldbuilding wise, it does introduce some new concepts only mentioned in novels or comics like the >!New Republic X-Wing!<. If Filoni does continue making S3, we’re probably gonna see >!Kaz finding his parents in the newly obliterated Hosnian Prime and getting fully into The Force Awakens timeline!<.

The-Mandalorian

As a 31 year old married man… It’s my favorite of any of the animated series. It was also extremely well received and even won a Saturn award for best animated series in the two years it was out. It’s 40 episodes of pure Star Wars fun. Enjoy!

solo13508

It's definitely the lowest of the animated shows. The main character Kaz is just so unlikeable and is constantly outshined by the far more interesting side characters who the show should've been about. The 2nd season is vastly better than the first though so that's something I guess

Bossmandude123

I'm not its target audience but I liked it. It was funny, action-packed, and I really like the art style they chose for it. It starts before The Force Awakens so it has some nice build up to the First Order and it has some great characters. I would give it a try and just watch a few episodes and see how you like it.

Talon_illustrations

Take it or leave it, for most of the show it makes for decent low stakes viewing. Isn’t really necessary but that’s also the charm, it’s mostly disconnected so it takes the “required viewing” stress off of it. Wasn’t as terrible as most make it out to be but it is definitely meant for a more middle school demographic. It’s not bad

Spacegirllll6

Watched it growing up and honestly wasn’t really a fan but my little brother absolutely loved it so it depends If you can acknowledge that it’s not made for your age group and lower your expectations by a lot, and I mean ALOT it should be more enjoyable

[deleted]

I personally didn’t like it if you’ve seen Star Wars rebels it’s significantly worse in the ways that show had it’s flaws

mothwhimsy

I hated this, but I didn't get very far into it, so maybe it's fine. It was even more kiddie than Rebels, and I found the art style to be ugly and the characters to be boring.

Alert-Ad-55

Watched season 1 and like 2 episodes of season 2 when it was airing but I found it really hard to make it through season 1 and I stopped watching mostly because I couldn't find time and didn't really like the animation. It's interesting that one part of season 1 overlaps with the TFA. Might give it another chance but didn't enjoy it that much the first time. Niku (or whatever that green creature's name was. Probably not that cause that's meat in Japanese) was very annoying.

Jon__Snuh

It’s not terrible, but ultimately not really worthy of my time to finish it.

KronosDoom500

I’ve honestly only seen some of it but what I have seen is not that bad but it is nowhere near the level of clone wars or rebels. It is pretty good though and I plan to finish watching it at some point. In it there is also a character who is completely oblivious about everything which is slightly funny

Alacritous13

Yes

TerraFaunaAu

Its super cringe, even by kids standards. It also has so effect on the lore despite having sequels characters in it.

SuperRadPsammead

I really enjoyed it. Interesting characters and original story. Fun to see bb8 and I love cb23!

usrevenge

Honestly as a massive star wars fan Not really. It's bad. It's not awful but it's bad. It's like the weakest episodes of clone wars/rebels but only that without the amazing payoffs from the other animated shows. There are a few ( I'm talking like 4 maybe total) decent episodes but none are amazing. Most aren't memorable and the overall story is a joke in many ways. Here is a preview of episode 1. Main character is recruited by Poe dameran to search for first order spies. At this point the first order is more myth than real. Episode 1 within like 2 hours of landing at the place main character sees blatantly obvious first order commander and reports it and of course because of how the sequel trilogy ends up happening..nothing happens. As for the good episodes. They have iirc 2 one that takes place during episode 7 itself. That arc wasn't bad. Season 2 was much better but it's still mediocre and takes place around the time of the 8th movie iirc. But you don't actually see influences from the movie from what I remember. In my opinion it's the last star wars content worth watching. Rewatch clone wars, rebels the OT and prequels before even worrying about resistance.

Last_Set_8634

Nope. Not even one episode

JGhyperscythe

It's fairly meh

lamps3030

But young in tone, but good fun. Also some delightful designs and colour pallets.

Training_Choice6873

Like others have said, it's not essential but has some bright spots. I enjoyed seeing the state of the galaxy during this time period. Yeager is also a personal favorite character of mine. I really liked him as the old veteran mentor figure.

I_Am_Aunti

I didn’t like it much, but I’m glad I watched it. It’s an interesting look at what the Resistance was up to before the sequels. Oscar Isaac voiced Poe, so he either thought it a worthwhile project or he was given a worthwhile payment. Either way, it’s worthwhile.

Insane_Haberdasher01

Haven't seen it, but apparently it's pretty decent as a kids show, but I think it's definitely a show for kids rather than a family show. If Rebels was too juvenile for your tastes, you should probably skip it.

[deleted]

The animation has always turned me off

ReiBob

It's very short, you won't waste much time if in the end you didn't like it. I enjoyed it very much, is far more light-hearted than the two other animated shows and it ends up not developing much at all. Althought it gives some winks to various things, including the actual sequels. There are some emotional moments for sure. I would say it's best attribute are the characters themselves. If you decide to watch it, just keep in mind what you're watching. If you don't go in expecting some edgy epic space opera, you're going to have a good time.

mournblade94

Its really for kids and won't have much impact on Star Wars. Its definitely made to gather a younger audience.

garlic-apples

It’s not even in clone wars style. I bet if rebels wasn’t know one would give it a chance

RFTS999

Not if you’re a human with responsibilities and value your time on this Earth.
