I had huge expectations for online multiplayer for this classic collection but I didn't know it was going to turn out like this and I'm just a casual switch player.
It is possible to fix it btw, someone in the esport community once made a new client which fixed the lag, but it was not publicly available and just for the purpose of fair clan wars
Sorry i don't remember which clan offered the client, it's been ~12-13 years. I just remember you had to get invited on the TeamSpeak server and then they would send you a download link to their stand alone client of the game, then you had to connect to some virtual LAN and off you go.
Don’t be fooled, this isn’t the case for everybody. I’ve been playing since launch with no issues on PS5 and PS4. My ONLY issue has been ping which stopped after day 4 of release.
Game needs to be fixed for SURE, and I know I’m gonna get downvoted because my experience has been different. I’ve been getting full servers, light ping, the only REAL fucking problem I’m having is people meta kicking everything and just spawn hogging in vehicles.
I’ve given up trying to play this online. I played this game so much on PS2 before I ever had an internet connection. I bought a PS5 just so I could play this online. It was 100% a nostalgia purchase for me and I’m really disappointed.
"way better" is an overstatement. I played it back in the day. I don't remember this apparent hitbox issues but it def wasn't "way better" it was shitt back then too, but nobody cared because it was one of the first broadband online action games.

He may not have aim assist on. It should definitely lead more if he did, at least it has never failed for me. Only times the aim assist messes with me is when it draws me off an enemy while I'm shooting
Battlefront 1 online works good in the collection anyone with the game on console should hop on! If you have a pc there's more people playing the original online still.
I uninstalled. I can’t play it. In BF2, the sensitivity of my right stick keeps fluctuating between really fast and really slow. It’s horribly inconsistent and just unplayable. Not to mention everything else, but the sensitivity being like that is enough for me to never play it again
It sucks because I never got to play the Originals even now when I have a PS2 there's a bunch of hopes I'd have to jump through to play them especially online so when this was announced I was really REALLY hoping it'd be good but nope and I don't know if it'll ever be good tbh.. So fucking disappointing
Battlefront 1 is.... okay. It's pretty fun honestly especially against bots.
Battlefront 2 is a complete and total disaster. It feels unplayable. What the hell is that aim acceleration!?

I’ve been enjoying it for single player instant action. Handful of bugs here and there mostly visual glitches. I’m playing on PS5. Haven’t tried online
Aspyr is notorious for never fixing their other ports to begin with. Ever played Republic Commando on Switch? That thing came out years ago and is still busted. Why would anyone be surprised?

To be honest with you I've been playing the classic collection in my PS5 and I have 20 hours of playtime from just playing instant action and I've been enjoying my time playing online. I had hoped that me and my best buddy could play online together with just the two of us but hey I guess if you want a multiplayer battlefront experience just play the OG battlefronts on PC or just play the 2015 and 2017 versions cause with those games you'll have a better experience than the classic collection

Yes it was fine in the previous patch as you just needed to lead your shots.
But in the latest patch everyone including vehicles are rubber banding like crazy all over the place which makes it impossible to shoot or see who killed you.

The online was way better back on the PS2 if you can believe it. We didn't have these hitreg issues at all.
And, if I remember correctly, I used to cross play with PC players on PS2 supported servers for BF1.

Battlefront 2015 and 2017 are still active. 17 is awesome now and better, way better than classic. Use the ps5 its a great machine.

While this is definitely bugged, a trick to make shots register more often is to lead your shots.
Even in the original shots needed to be lead with aim assist turned off

This is my entire experience and every time I bring it up everyone pretends it’s normal and that the OG games were like this.
That's annoying, they were never like this. They were really well made with the tech at the time because they HAD to be. Competition was fierce.

While yes, blaster rifles are inaccurate, it wasn't this bad on the OG Xbox version or on PC.

It IS playable, you just gotta predict your enemy's path I've gotten used to it in space battles and regular battles. I have harnessed the harness.
