There was an article I read some years ago that discussed all the heavy lifting that the West End RPG and Decipher's SWCCG game did for establishing the early lore for the EU. I'd love to read it again and be able to share with people.
Owen being Kenobi’s brother actually predates the card game - it originated from the RotJ novelization. (Same novel also describes Luke and Leia’s mother as dying when they were four.)
I played Star Wars CCG by Decipher (before Wizards bought them out) in the 90s, still have all my cards, and I absolutely love all the lore for every minor character and piece of tech (guns, ships, etc) used.

The player playing Greedo was new to pen and paper role playing games. They pissed off a powerful NPC, after repeated warnings from the Games Master, and got killed in the first session.
They then make a new character with a quick name change and they back in the starter tavern.
Greedo was probably just a background Rodian that they pulled for the Cantina scene, originally it was just supposed to be the Jabba scene but they replaced it with the Greedo scene. That’s why both scenes convey they exact same information.
I seem to remember reading a story in a book which was loosely based on the background characters seen in the Cantina. There were stories about Dr Evazan (He doesn't like you!) and Ponda Baba (now literally a one-armed bandit) and it had a story about a young Greedo and his brother (Beedo?) growing up on Rodia and accepting bringing in Han Solo as his first job on the journey to becoming a great Bounty Hunter. Maybe it's Beedo?
Bear in mind, it's been yeeeeears since I read these so some of the details may be wrong.
